I'm not usually one of those people that goes to restaurants just because they are expensive. I enjoy food, and like feeling like the food I got was worth the total bill. If a place is a little expensive, but the food is amazing, I'm okay with that. Unfortunately, Hinterland just doesn't live up to the food prices. The restaurant itself is very well done, nice views, outdoorsy decorations, staff was very friendly, and I like that the entire kitchen was walled off with glass, so you can see the food being prepared. But, the food is overpriced for what you get, and not worth the price. We started off with the Beer Battered Cheese Curds. The flavor was good, not too greasy, and the ketchup that came with it was different, but my wife loved it. We're they worth $10? Not really, but okay. Moving on. I got the Big Hinty, basically a double cheeseburger. When I asked what the Hinterland sauce was, I was told it tasted like the sauce on a Big Mac. Excuse me? So, I'm basically paying $14 for a Big Mac, $16 if I want fries instead of chips?!?! Wife got the Applewood Smoked BBQ Pulled Pork Sandwich. She said it was okay, had a weird aftertaste. So, for $47, we got overpriced cheese curds, a big Mac with fries, an "okay" pulled pork sandwich with fries, a coke and a water. As I said in the beginning, I have no issue paying extra for food that is worth the extra premium. But, I'm not going to pay for a fru-fru restaurant, because the name and it's proximity to Lambeau field makes it expensive. Thank goodness I used a gift card. I would have been sick to my stomach paying out of pocket for this. Next time I'm craving a burger, I'll just hit up Al's Hamburger. read more

I wouldn't spend another dime there. Service was slow and unless you really look close at the cheap menus you could be in for a treat. We had two Cesar salads ordered snd the waitress asked if we wanted to add chicken or shrimp. So we did order the added chicken. I'd say 3oz each salad. Met friends for lunch here at 1pm and we were able to enjoy a leisurely two hour lunch catching up. Food, while a bit pricey, was delicious! We shared the hummus platter with golden beets, marinated fennel, cherry tomatoes. Ran out of naan bread before the hummus and while I am sure we could have asked for more, we did not. All three of us had the power salad and it was delicious. Kale, blueberries, quinoa, grapefruit, avocado cream. Decidedly NOT typical Green Bay fare but that's what I liked about it!! I thought there should have been more quinoa but it was still yummy. We loved going to Hinterland at their old location but had not had the chance to check out their new digs since moving out of the area. We were back to see Billy Joel at Lambeau Field and figured it would be a good opportunity to check it out before the show. It was understandably busy but we had reservations and were seated right away. I'm allergic to beer so asked for a cocktail menu but was told they don't have one. I then ordered a brandy old fashioned like any good Wisconsinite would. We couldn't decide what we wanted to eat so just did some appetizers/small plates to share. The food was good and so was the old fashioned so I ordered another one. When we got our check, imagine my surprise when my BRANDY old fashioned was listed as a Hennessey old fashioned. Imagine my further surprise when I saw that they were $18.25 each!?! I didn't ask for Hennessey, or any other specific top shelf brandy, but even if I did I can buy an entire 750ml bottle of Hennessey at the local liquor store for $36.99. These drinks were in rocks glasses so there wasn't more than a couple ounces of booze in them. I brought this to the attention of our waitress who acknowledged that it must be some sort of mistake. She returned a few minutes later and reported that it WAS NOT a mistake, their brandy old fashioned cost $18.25! She did make it right however removed one of them from the bill so they ONLY ended up costing ~$9.13, but what are they thinking? You would think that if they are going to charge these prices, they would at least say something when you are ordering like "just so you know our old fashioned is muddled with diamond shavings and topped off with unicorn tears so it's a little pricey", but no such disclaimer. You may be thinking that they raised their prices before a special event as some restaurants do before Packer games, but the other drinks we got did not seem inflated ($7 beer, $6 cider, $8.50 wine). I guess this is why they don't have a cocktail menu... The kicker was that when we were inside Lambeau Field where I EXPECT inflated prices, I ordered a 16oz old fashioned for $11 that I liked BETTER! With all of the restaurant options in Green Bay, and more to come in the new Titletown District, this irritated me enough to look elsewhere in the future. read more

Stumbled upon this place while visiting Lambeau Field for the first time (It's right across the street). The space is so open and beautifully decorated. They have outdoor seating and lots of TVs to watch sports. We got the Salmon dish, the burger, the Hinterland special salad, and the meatloaf with Gochujang BBQ duck wings. I got the coffee beer, which was awesome and would highly recommend. The Gochujang BBQ duck wings came with about 5 wings, but the sauce had a nice kick but wasn't too spicy that the flavor didn't come through. Really nicely done. The salmon was not dry and was also great. The Hinterland salad with grapefruit was amazing. Light and refreshing with a sweet citrus-ness and enough to feel full. The burger was fine. Nothing notable. The meatloaf was also pretty mediocre, but with the other foods presented, dinner was pretty spectacular. Once we got seated the service was great, but the hostess weren't that friendly and seemed disinterested in seating us. That was the only downside to this place, which in comparison to everything else, was not a huge problem. Hip place with great beer and good food. read more

Delicious food. We had a good appetizer and pulled pork sandwich. The French fries were crispy but not greasy and they were delicious. The only disappointment was that there could have been more goat cheese on the power salad. Service was friendly but the waitress could have checked to see if our food was ok or if we needed anything else. I would have asked for more goat cheese. I'll never go back. The staff was perfectly content ignoring my family and myself for the entirety of our meal. Meanwhile we were surrounded by flies as I was forced to choke down a chicken sandwich that was much more fat and cartilage then chicken. Love this place! We visited for the first time after several people recommended we try it out. So glad we did. The service was really good, the beer was really good, and the food was absolutely amazing. The pork tenderloin was so tender I could have cut it with a plastic butter knife. Awesome flavor. It was very good but could've used a little heat, a touch pedestrian. For my entrée I had the HIGHLAND VENISON MEATLOAF with whipped potato, twin elms carrots, broccolini, luna stout mushroom gravy. Definitely a "hip" place to be that has a pretty decent beer selection - their own brews, but others as well including local(ish) selections. I loved that the staff was open to recommend other local beers, kind of promoting all things local. The Hinterland beers I tried were great though! I had a burger (awesome) and the chili (even more awesome!). Get the chili!!! Even though I think Hinterland is a great place to hang and grab a drink/bite, it's on the pricey side, especially when compared to the many other local options. read more

I was in Green Bay on business last week and went to Hinterland everyday. The hinty burger first night was excellent. Flavor of meat and bun was delicious. Next day had the pastrami sandwich. Best pastrami ever. Fish tacos the next day was excellent. Had a bartender that made a cocktail off menu that was perfect. Her own creation. She's a Green Bay native and a Cubs fan and an excellent bartender. Gave me recipe for the drink she served me. I bought ingredients today to host cocktail party this weekend. Hinterland is a top quality upscale brewery and restaurant right across the street from Lambeau Field. Location is super convenient, parking is easy (on non-game days), and the food and service were both very good. There is also a lot to do around Hinterland, including a kids play park as well as a winter snow sledding ramp because, you know, it's cold in Wisconsin. Overall, this is a pretty good place to go for good food. It's a little more expensive than some of the other Packers pre-game spots, but the experience is totally worth the extra cheddar (cheese joke for the win!). read more

We were in Green Bay to visit family and attend the Sunday's game against Detroit. (Yes fans, one to forget). We visited Titletown and that in itself is a review. The brewery is located within Titletown and is a remarkable state of the art brewery and restaurant. We checked in or tried to but there was no host. This is Saturday the day before the game. This place is a 2 story building with bar and restaurant and each being on it's own story. It was packed and we waited our due time to get a host/hostess to get us a seat. After about 15 minutes we were seated, but also told we might not be able to get lunch or dinner, somewhat confusing. Once seated we were told our waitress would be right with us. NOT! Several of them passed us as they have assigned area's. So in waiting I went to the bar and was told we could get beer but the kitchen was between lunch/dinner turnover, which means they do not serve for about 1 hour while they switch, tad ODD. Got beers and waited, again waitress passed us but didn't stop, so next time she passed us we flagged her down and asked her if she was our waitress, which she replied I am a waitress just not yours. She did say she'd find our waitress and get her to our table. We've been waiting awhile now about 45 minutes and we had somewhere else to be. Our waitress actually came around. We asked about our options and she said that we could order dinner now. This place is not cheap, so be prepared. We ordered food to split between us and escape within a reasonable range of spending. We ordered a burger, Big Hinty, Winter Green Salad and Fried Brussel Sprouts. All the food was good, especially the Fried Brussel Sprouts is a must order. I love brussel sprouts anyway but these are fried, slightly charred with a balsamic vinegar dressing. We had to eat fast to make our next destination. The beers were impressive, food good, service (terrible), waitress (Grace) seemed she could care less of our being there. Everyone else seemed to be doing what was expected our of them. The building is spectacular in and of itself and there were many there to enjoy it. Green Bay organization and those associated with it continue to impress me as being a family organization at heart. She told me they were busy and "just had a bunch of people come in" My salad cost was $31 because I added shrimp to my salad??? The added cost for 4 shrimp was $14. Not sure that was correct but I was in a hurry and wanted to get out of there. My husband got to see the football field but the to go food was not worth the $31 salad. I like their pastrami sandwich. For the past two years, I have gone there for takeout on my Birthday Day. Their prices (which are high) don't match what is on their internet menu. The internet menu needs updating. They handed me a receipt with a minimum tip of 20% for takeout. Not doing that! I don't mind tipping for take-out, but I'm not tipping 20% when I'm doing my own service! I paid three dollars extra for garlic fries with my sandwich. When I got the order home, I discovered I had regular fries. This is the second time that this happened. There won't be a third. You would think that a 'high-end' restaurant' so close to the stadium would be more concerned about their internet reviews. Apparently not.
