I will not go back to this place has had a very simple problem with my daughters car and I needed an oxygen sensor and I asked for it to be put on. O2 Sensor was about $50 10 minute install and I just didn't have the time to do it so I took it there and explained what the code is and what the problem is and I asked if they could Confirm the code and replace O2 sensor for me. What I got was a bill for about $300 and some crap from an angry Roided out looking guy. All they did was install the O2 sensor. "They say that you can sheer a sheep sheep many times but you can only skin them once. Took my Jeep to get brakes inspected because parking brake wasn't working really good. I replaced all brake pads and emergency brake shoes. I Replaced all four rotors and the front calipers. Parking brake was grabbing but not to my liking. So I took it to Hires. They have done work for me in the past and I've been highly satisfied. Well that changed today. They said I needed new parking brake shoes and hardware. The cost $400. Tell me what would you think? And they charged me $55. read more

I went into the service center yesterday to get a oil change and a/c recharge. Everything was okay with those things and I never have had a problem with my service. I noticed when I went to drop my SD memory cards off to my mother and noticed that they were missing. I called immediately and they were closed so I left a message. The next morning I called and talked to the manager and he said that they would look at the tapes and call me back. I waited 3-4 hours and called back and Talked with Tyler the manager I explained the situation again and my thoughts about it probably was someone who works there. He instantly was offended and said that he didn't appreciate a person saying that they were thieves . I said that I didn't appreciate a thief stealing from me and his opinion didn't matter. Needless to say they Have lost a long time customer. My Grandfather started me going to Hires at a young age. read more

So my daughter took her car in for a loud noise under the hood. They tell her it needed a new alternator and extensive suspension work. Total cost: $3000. Due to my previous bad experience with Hires, I had her take her car to our usual mechanic. The serpentine belt was so worn it had turned itself inside out. THAT was what was making the noise. Alternator? Not a thing wrong with it. Suspension? Well, it wasn't perfect but nothing is ready to fall off or kill somebody going down the highway. Nowhere NEAR $3000 worth of repairs needed! Total bill to get her car back on the road? Less than $150. My opinion? They saw a vulnerable young lady who knows nothing about auto mechanics and tried to take advantage of her. read more

3 stars they are half trustworthy and half lying cheating low lifes. The economy brought this on and flared up the dishonest button with these folks. They overcharge and quoted me more than a few times prices that were way more than a dealership I go to. Some things are way overpriced at hires for service work and others are like everywhere else, but most of it is overpriced. They might fib to you a little here to pad the linings read more

I am extremely unhappy about my visit to Hires. Associates were not helpful regarding billing; they do a terrible job reviewing all details of the bill prior to moving forward. I will not be back to Hires, I will encourage others to go elsewhere for their automotive needs. Quoted me $300 for the job at $100/hr for labor. Don't know of any other auto shop in Fort Wayne that charges $100/hr for labor. Went home, did 15 minutes of research, purchased the part on ebay for $30 and completed the fix in 1 hour a few days later. The work they do may be good, but I wouldn't recommend them because they charge $30 to look at anything and their pricing and labor is very high. read more

Very disappointed. I was told it would be about an hour for an oil change and new battery. I am still sitting here over 2 hours later. There was a broken bolt on the battery carriage but they didn't bother to come give me an update on time. I only got the info because I went to ask how much longer to expect. I would have never hung around had I been given a reasonable estimate. Staff is very unsympathetic to the inconvenience or lack of customer service. This seems to be another repair shop that loves their regulars and could care less about gaining new clientele. read more

I have been taking my vehicles to Hires for about 4 years. The service writers have always been friendly, professional and courteous. Anytime you have to take a vehicle in, there is that dread because of the unknown when it comes to auto repairs. But, every time I have taken it to Hires, I know I will get an honest answer no matter the outcome. I had taken my truck to Hires at Lima rd. on 27 May knowing it was going to need brakes and rotors because of the squeaking. The service writer (Brian) explained that the squeaking is the type of pads that come with that truck and I have 50% pads left. How easy it would have been for them to say I needed all new brakes and rotors and I never would have known the difference. read more

I had my car taken in to get my muffler replaced because mine was falling off. After getting my car back 2 hours after it was supposed to be finished I noticed a black button on the floor thinking nothing of it i picked it up. Turns out it was the button for my cruise control which I can now no longer use. As soon as i looked out of my windshield I saw that there was a large crack in it. (about a foot long) I confronted the manager that was on duty and he told me that it is not their responsibility and they can no do anything about. The service was slow, and the people were rude. read more

DO NOT go to this business if you actually want to have your vehicle repaired. They gladly charge you but fail to fix the problem. Our car was not getting warm we took it to the Hire's on Lima Rd. A diagnostic was run that showed it was the radiator, it was flushed and the repairs they said it needed were done, however it is no better. This cost us 176.00. We returned the following week with it and they said it was something else entirely different this time and the cost would be 400.00. They will not stand behind their work but offered to refund us 45.00 and repair it for an additional 400.00. The diagnostic did not show this problem before. I do not trust them and we will not be returning. We have very little funds and cannot afford to "try again", not knowing if even that will fix it. We have told everyone we know not to do business there. It will be a long cold winter, could have just kept my 176.00 and had the same result. read more
