A friend and I popped in on a hot Sunday for brunch around 1pm. There was lots on street parking and it was free since it was Sunday. This is a restuarant and a bar. We were asked if we wanted to sit in the rooftop (inside joke). There were a few patrons already there but we were asked to choose any seats we liked. There was nice soft music playing in the background and the restaurant was bright and very cute. We were given water and utensil immediately. Jessica, our server, came to take our orders. The prices are very reasonable especially for the seafood brunch items. The food came out quickly. The portions were perfect and the food was hot, seasoned very well and was delicious. When all was said and done, there was nothing left on either of our plates. My eggs were cooked over-meduim as requested. EXTRA CREDIT. I've had many restaurants to fail the egg test. Eggs are my favorite for breakfast and brunch. I didn't have a drink this day but from what I understand, from the 2 mimosas ordered by my friend, they are excellent! The bar has a full menu and I even noticed they will make you one of your creations if you ask them to. After we ate, we were invited to view the downstairs of the restaurant. It's a very cute area with a bar, bar stools, and tables and chairs. It can be rented for private events. You can choose to have food provided free for the guest, have it catered for a certain amount or even allow your guest to be able to order from the menu independently. The same with the bar. If you're looking for a nice place to have brunch or a place to host an event, I recommend His and Hers. If I wasn't on a mission to visit a new restaurant every week, I'd be back here for sure. read more

I went to a weekly event called Wicked Mondaze and loved the location. Drinks and food were great, as was the service. The catfish tenders were so yummy that I ordered some to take home. Christina was a great server, also but she did encourage me to tip in cash, saying that she doesn't get tips when they are on a credit card. I gave her $25 cash tip for my bill and looked at the receipt today only to find out that $15 gratuity was already included. I feel a bit duped but luckily I can afford it. Haha. I passed by His & Hers after leaving another establishment in the neighborhood when they were just ramping up in 2021, and I returned for a party in 2022 and was so happy to see that they are officially making moves. This neighborhood spot is too cute and the food is equally delicious. The catfish was seasoned really well and the hot honey cauliflower bites were AMAZING! I mean like GOOD GOOD. Like are y'all gonna bring more of those out good. The DJ was bomb and the energy of the space was so welcoming. Ok. This is a LONG review because I usually love His & Hers but I am super annoyed and disappointed. I've been here many times and the problem I have is that the service and quality of food is very hit or miss depending on who's working... that goes from the waitress, to the bartender to the chef. My partner and I came in this afternoon (Saturday) around 12:30. The waitress is sweet and friendly, we sit, all is well. We both immediately order mimosas before ordering any food...now for context, there are maybe 8 ppl in the whole restaurant and about 15 minutes go by and I'm watching the waitress fiddle around the restaurant, be on her phone, chat with staff etc and I'm thinking...there's not enough ppl in here for us to not have our drinks yet and you're standing around doing nothing. So I tell my partner to get her attention, and she then says oh yea, what kind of mimosa was it? And then places the orders with the bartender in front of us. Soooooo we've been sitting here 15 minutes and bartender didn't even know to make the mimosas meanwhile you're just wandering around?? Flag 1. I let it go. He starts making drinks, we order food. I explain to the waitress that I don't want the sauce that comes with the catfish & grits, but only the fish, peppers, and grits, no sauce (because I come here frequently and I know how I like that dish). She says cool, no problem. Brings out the plate with no peppers, and I repeat that the only thing I didn't want was the sauce. She has to take it back. Flag 2. Because it's only 3 components lol, peppers, fish, grits. By this point we're 25 minutes in and only one mimosa has made it our table. Mind you, food is already being brought out and still the two mimosas we ordered upon sitting down are not there. My partner again says hey... what's up with the other mimosa? The waitress reminds the bartender who STARTS making the second drink. Flag 3. My food comes back with the added peppers and it's just bleh. Idk who's cooking but I've ordered that exact same dish many times before and it was BANGING, like 10/10 but today?! I had a couple bites and decide that I would just take it home to doctor up, because it just wasn't it. I ask the waitress for a box to go, she says ok got you. I then watch her again, wander around the restaurant l, have full blown conversations with customers, stand around. I let another 10 minutes go by, assuming that shes remember and just bring me the box so we can go. She doesn't. So now I'm irritated and I say her, can you please bring me the box I asked you for 10 minutes ago? She apologizes and immediately gets the box. So now I'm thinking....why couldn't you have just done that when I asked you? Why am I having to repeatedly remind you about things we're asking for? So I'm ready to go. We were originally planning to get multiple rounds and more food but by this point I'm fed up. I order a coffee to go. Mind you, it's brunch. The bartender tells me, "we'll it's going to take a while because I have to make a pot of coffee"....why tf don't you already have coffee made during brunch? I let it go and wait. He then says, what kind of coffee do you want? I'm like just a regular drip coffee with cream and sugar. He says cool. Brings me back a plain black coffee. I go back to the bar and I'm like do y'all have cream and sugar because I'm just ready to go. He says oh ok yea... and then proceeds to fiddle around the bar area looking for creamer before another person at the bar (who I'm assuming also works there) says..."don't bother we don't have any, you gotta go next door." Meaning to the OTHER UNAFFILIATED RESTAURANT NEXT DOOR. WHAT IN THE ENTIRE F*CK IS GOING ON?!?! You mean to tell me you don't have the basic condiments for coffee?! During brunch?! So then I wait for him to wrangle other ppls cream and sugar for the coffee I ordered at His & Hers.... Then there's this whole debacle about them not being able to print the receipt for our meal (we keep receipts for tracking expense purposes) which was selected when we paid the tab. Apparently the printer didn't work, and because the tab was closed we also couldn't get the receipt emailed to us. My partner had to basically take a picture of the order just to get a version of a receipt. So here is the point. I am SO done with giving Black Owned Restaurants passes for unprofessional and ridiculous service and practices. It is so disheartening knowing that I came in there today planning to spend mad money and time, and had to leave early because of lack of attention to details, inconsistent food quality, and staff that kinda didn't seem to know what was going on. YALL HAVE GOT TO DO BETTER. PERIOD. I've spent a lot of money at this place, and will probably go back again at some point, but it won't be for a good while. Jas read more

The venue was small n quaint yet very appealing to the eye inside and out. I was there for a private event. However, I would love to come back and partake in the other activities and dine in. Kitchen Commando, America's Sweetheart and Greatest Hero, came here and trained these privates into generals! TEN HUT! First mission: the food. The crab sandwich was delicious, not fishy at all and the fried cauliflower wasn't too greasy and you could still get the full healthy nutrition of the cauliflowers. Second mission: the decor. It was very warm and inviting. Final mission: the service. 10 stars out of ten for the friendly waitstaff. All in all it was a great lunch and I'll be back. DISMISSED! read more

This is LENGTHY review, so if you have A.D.D or hate reading pass on! We stopped here briefly for Sunday brunch before we hit I-95 to head back home after a weekend in D.C This is a laid back cute little brunch spot. I went on the strength of the positive reviews and it being a B.O.B. However, I've decided I am no longer allowing the B.O.B. card to cause me emotional guilt any longer. This is [my] opinion from [my] experience. We walk in and the first thing I noticed was the entry carpet going up the ramp needed a serious vacuum. The bartender had to tell us where to sit after we stood there for a moment. The menu was super limited. My overall issue was the food portion sizes. Like someone commented elsewhere, they were compatible with what you would feed a 3 year old. All it was missing was a plastic divided kids plate. This wasn't some Michelin gourmet restaurant where they sourced ingredients from Europe. I get that COVID and supply chain issues and inflation hit restaurants hard, and I'm glad they are surviving. However, if your stomach muscular organ is the size of a small orange then you should be good. If you're a "skinny legend like Whiz Khalifa" and have the munchies, you will be disappointed. The menu said THICK slices of bread for the French toast. How sway? What was received was thin (not brioche) bread. The grits were soupy, but well seasoned. The eggs and bacon were good. The vegan sausage was not good. In fact, it was nasty. The "fruit bowl" I requested consisted of only strawberries and blueberries. Sooo...no oranges? No grapes or even apples? Blackberries, raspberries, or even kiwi?? This screamed laziness to me. I know it's January, but I just saw some pineapples the other day in Walmart. The fried potatoes were [really] good. Considering they were rationed like it was bread during wartime I couldn't enjoy them because I ate them in less than 30 seconds. I considered buying some more, but my pride and attitude wouldn't allow. The waitress was very nice and accommodating. However, her uniform which consisted of Crocs with pink and white ankle socks, leggings and a sweat jacket was giving me diner aesthetics. Next, a guy came in that the workers knew (maybe it was his off day and he worked there?). He's leaning over the bar chairs, singing the songs being played over the speaker [loudly] and then belts this deafening whistle to another song as he heads to the back where the kitchen is. I didn't understand the cubby holes of supplies exposed and on display either. Is there no curtain or fabric that could cover this? So, finally, yes, I hold His & Hers to a high standard just as I would other businesses. Entrepreneurship is sink or swim. Certain other races don't have to prove themselves and struggle to get funding for a businesses like we do - they have collateral of generational wealth. We are far less likely to secure business capital than them, and when we do, that capital comes in much smaller amounts and with higher interest rates. So when we have the opportunity to own a business and I see the stuff I frequently see it makes me want to scratch Styrofoam. His and Hers has potential, but needs to consider reevaluating some things. read more
