This place came highly recommended. I came and got two unicorn Funfetti cupcakes, two golden oreo cupcakes, a banana chocolate chip muffin, and blueberry scone. All were extremely dense, thick, dry, and for the cupcakes, way too much icing seemed like a third of it was icing. Very disappointed because I wanted to love it too based on a friends recommendation. I shared two of the cupcakes with my sister and brother-in-law and they thought the same thing. I work down the street and have become a frequent visitor to Hive. They make amazing stuff. I usually just get cupcakes because all the other stuff is sold out by the time I'm off work but I finally remembered and ordered the night before online! 6 pack of cupcakes, the caramel tres leches, the lemon tart and a slice of carrot cake. The strawberry cheesecake cupcake is my favorite of all the cupcakes! It will not disappoint. The pistachio rose was my least favorite because the rose flavor is very overwhelming blocking out any pistachio taste and I love pistachio so it made me sad. The caramel tres leches was incredible, I could not stop tasting it. But for me, the pastry of the lemon tart is one of the best things I have ever had. I normally don't like the shell of pies and tarts (like I will eat the inside and barely touch the crust) but this tart was perfect. Light, buttery rich flavor all at once, I CRAVE it now. What's a party without a great cake! I loved my cake and so did my cake loving guest. I ordered a 9" vanilla Signature Cake. The cake easily fed 26 cake lovers. My crew doesn't do small slices. With that said, we still had well over 1/4 cake left. I picked the cake up on a Saturday for a Sunday party and left it inside the refrigerator overnight. The cake was fresh, rich in flavor and super moist the next day. I should add, it was beautiful too. I decided to try Hive Bakery after reading a wonderful post the owner wrote on Facebook. I love supporting local businesses and especially ones owned by great people. I'd highly recommend trying Hive bakery. To all my fellow cake lovers, you will not be disappointed. We got two cupcakes today (Andy's mint and salted caramel)..we had high expectations, however, this didn't meet them. Andy's mint was a gluten free chocolate cupcakes that seemed very undercooked and mint tasted way to artificial and not...right. The salted caramel was not "salted caramel". It had chocolate drizzle but when I tasted that drizzle..and it didn't have sweetness to it. The cupcakes was itself dry and . .something else I don't know. Of the bakeries in the area, they are one of the top. Their items are made fresh and from scratch. They are huge and impressive to look at. Instagram-worthy treats. They come out with a variety of exciting flavors and holiday-themed things. I especially enjoy that they offer a variety of gluten-free options which they take special care in making to avoid contamination. I'd say they are American style so expect sweet first flavoring. This isn't a bad thing, it's just a style or personal preference. I think this is a great place to buy gift treats from especially. The presentation is really nice. read more

For my daughter's 16th birthday, I ordered her the strawberry cake. first time ordering from this place. the cake smelled like it was three months old. You know? the smell of stale bread? yes. that smell. it was dry and absolutely awful. I tried to politely request a fresh cake, by returning what was not thrown in the trash. that was a mistake. My worst experience ever, as a customer. perhaps it's just the strawberry cake. Stay away from that one. And definitely ensure that you don't have a problem and ask for a redo. This bakery is a hard pass. read more

I LOVE sweets and am picky about where I'll go. I'd seen photos HIVE posted that looked really good and wanted to try it. The cupcake I got tasted worse than a grocery store cupcake. What I mean by that is it seemed like they served it refrigerated from their counter display - the taste and density was that of a frozen item versus something FRESH like you'd expect from a bakery. The cake portion was dense and hard like a stale cake. The frosting was cold in a bad way - the cake started crumbling apart in stale crumbs. My expectation of a bakery is fresh baked goods, super moist cake and sweet buttercream frosting that still tastes smooth ... I did not get any of this. Very disappointing and a classic example of a store very good at making things look good on social media but taste does not match the photos at all! read more

I started following this bakery on Facebook last month and their baked goods looked so good. I decided that I wanted to order a cake for my birthday. I ordered the strawberry signature cake along with a cinnamon roll. I picked the cake up that morning and followed the directions per their website to make sure to set the cake out to get to room temperature. That evening I cut the cake and tasted it. I was so disappointed. The frosting was good, but the cake itself was not good at all. It was dense, dry, and had no flavor. My husband tasted the cake also and said the same thing. The cake is still in the box about to go in the trash. I did get a cinnamon roll and that was very good. I will still go continue to patronize this bakery, but I will not get another cake. As for my interaction with the staff there, they were very nice. read more

Terrible customer service. This has happened not once but twice. I called inquiring to place an order. First time they said no they cannot help me 5 days before my event that it has to be ordered 7 days in advance. Their final time I left a message 2 weeks in advance of our graduation. No call back. I again called 5 days before event asking why nobody returned my call and they simple said "that's not how you order cakes" ok then maybe have someone call me back and simply explain how to order. But once again no help in making our graduation cake because we are 5 days out and apparently it needs to be 7 days. I'm sorry but this is not how you run a business in my opinion. Common curtesy- at a minimum is to return phone calls. read more

I really wanted to support this business as I love that they stand up for what they believe in. However. I went in hoping to discuss a custom cake for my upcoming wedding. The place was completely empty and the girl behind the counter could not have been less helpful. I picked out a couple of cupcakes and told her I had some questions about a custom cake. She told me just to send an email. I thanked her and kind of explained what I was looking for and she said "yeah just send the email." I did send the email and 8 days later I still haven't heard anything back. The cupcakes were pretty good but I was disappointed in the lack of interest in my business. read more

We purchased several items today. I had the lemon Kolache. It was dry. Very, very dry. The cream cheese center was like a lake in the middle of a very, very, dry desert. Even heating didn't completely take away the dryness. The icing was hard, dry and crunchy. Just not worth the money. The cinnamon roll that one of our party got was in its own plastic container. Not in the desert inducing dryness in the desert dessert case. It was still incredibly dry after heating and the only edible part was the icing. Just not worth the money. The gluten free items were blah for the most part with the exception of a gluten free cupcake. Lemon raspberry. Chocolate chip cookie dough gluten free cupcake had an odd flavor. Maybe King Arthur flour was used. Dunno. Just not worth the money. read more

Picked up a couple pies to bring to the family hosting us for Thanksgiving. The pies themselves, while highly overpriced, were very good. The issue I had was when I mentioned where I bought the pies from, it spurred a conversation about this companies pro-abortion and pro BLM positions. I just can't understand why a pie shop in Parker Square needs to post about divisive political topics. By all means, post what you want with your personal account, but a business account should really stick to topics about its business. I was certainly unaware that a pumpkin pie would start a conversation about BLM and abortion on Thanksgiving, but this is what you get from Hive Bakery. If you want your little bakery to cater to only a certain demographic sharing your political views, then post a sign on your front door to warn anyone else from entering. read more

I love Hive. I'm able to get GF and Vegan treats that aren't dry and weird tasting like some of the other local places have. We've tried several cupcake flavors, the brownie and cookies! Everything has been absolutely wonderful and the size is worth the cost. At spiral you get a tiny nasty dry cupcake that has no flavor in the frosting for a high cost... I'd rather drive further and go to Hive any day. read more

I previously always ordered pick-up. The cashier/clerk at the front desk was so friendly and answered all my questions. I love the vibe of the store and getting the in-person experience. They do amazing box deals but honestly, go in and pay full price and then tip because it's so worth it!! I've never had anything I didn't like. Got a pistachio bread, oatmeal creme sandwich, garlic cheddar scone and fire crackers all were delicious with the exception of the scone. It was WAY too salty and not much garlic. I'm hoping it was a measurement mix up, so I will give them another try. But this batch was too salty to eat. Everything else was just great.
