    Beef Noodle Soup

I really enjoyed the beef noddle soup here and definitely recommend getting the BNS set for two! It came out in ~10 minutes and hits the spot when it's a cold day outside. Both the thin and wide noodles were good for the noodles, you can't go wrong with either. Would come again:)

The waitress attitude was giving very oddly vibe, never smile, very unpleasant attitude; literally took her 20 mins to bring water and another 15 mins came to take the order. The food was good but very small portions, we got the special meal for 2. I don't recommend it.

Super small shop, will wait to seat you until full group has arrived. Small menu but everything is a hit. Coming back for 1000 of those scallion pancake with egg.

Pricy for beef noodle soup, but hey we live in NYC Super cute spot, with 2 dinning rooms! Menu is simple but mighty. Ordered the beef noodle soup strong and spicy, but felt like it was missing something? Maybe chinese vinegar. Noodle texture was great and the cucumbers were delicious. Wished for more than three pieces of beef in the soup. Was hoping this would be a little bit better than it actually was.

I was in the mood for soup so I stopped by Ho Foods in hopes of satisfying the craving. I'd say the beef noodle soup is okay. Nothing to rave about. Broth didn't have any depth and was upward on the salty scale. The noodles had a weird aftertaste and were a bit on a hard side. I did like the beef chunks inside however. They were well prepared. And this mediocre soup costs over $20. Not worth the money.at.all. Service was quick but the place didn't feel really clean. I was sitting at the tiled counter and the edges were dirty (hopefully not moldy).

Came back for dinner and got wood ear mushroom and a beef noodle soup. I was unfortunately underwhelmed by the noodle soup - I felt that the noodle wasn't that flavorful and the broth didn't cling to the noodles well. That being said, the beef was really tender.

I split the breakfast set for two with a friend, and it was really good. I went for the savory soy milk, which was a warm and comforting tofu soup with crispy pieces of you tiao and a bit of chili oil. We also got the vegetarian version of the fan tuan, which is basically just rice with an extra crispy you tiao on the inside - mostly a textural dish. The best item was the scallion pancake with egg - flaky and hearty, plus a delicious sauce to dip in. The meal worked out to roughly $25 each after tax and tip, which is totally worth it for the variety. We didn't have to wait at all early on Saturday afternoon, but I'm sure it's usually much busier. Definitely give it a try.

Yummy breakfast, good portion size and had lots of Taiwanese Knick knacks inside. The you tiao was very crunchy inside the soy milk. Reminded me of Taiwan, but not the most authentic in terms of what it tastes like in Taiwan - missing things like mustard greens, dried shrimp.

If you're looking for an authentic Taiwanese then this isn't the place. Food is overpriced. Tip percentages are calculated based on the after-tax total.

Such good Taiwanese food! Reminds me of being back in Taiwan. Everything was excellent. My favorite dish was the scallion pancake with egg. The spicy sauce with this dish was so delicious too -- I don't know what it is and it's not something you get in Taiwan but it was delicious with the pancake. The chili wontons were excellent too. I love the chili sauce. My husband felt like the beef noodle soup is the best one he's had in America. I would definitely come back to try more of the breakfast items! We left feeling suuuper full so could not try any more

everything tasted homey and fresh (none of that frozen stuff like some other chinese nyc restaurants). have had this on my list for forever and finally got to go close to opening without a wait!! i love taiwanese food so this slapped. not that many taiwanese options in nyc so this hitttt

Honestly the food was pretty underwhelming. The beef noodle soup was mediocre. Beef chunks were great, but the soup itself tasted diluted and without flavor. The chili wontons were good, however. Service was pretty fast and great. They have a side room with AC for more seating. However it's super quiet inside when I went, even with several other parties present. Not a bustling environment at all.

Arrived on a Sat evening without a reservation. The interiors had limited seating but we managed to get seated quickly. The menu is limited given this restaurant specializes in select Taiwanese dishes. We got a BNS set for 2. - garlicky soy cucumbers: very refreshing dish with cucumbers, sesame, and sesame oil. - small lu rou fan: lu rou and rice are well made, though the lu rou has pieces of fat mixed in with the meat. - chili wonton: the wontons (but not the sauce) are the highlight of this place. The wontons are very flavorful as is - probably one of the best wontons that I have gotten in NYC. The chili sauce is unfortunately a disappointment as it's a combination of sour, sweet, and spicy that detracts from the dish. - the beef noodle soup: I got the wide noodles with rich and spicy option and (free) mustard green. I was told "rich" means beef tallow is added to make it more fatty and hence "rich." There are ~4 pieces of small beef shanks but no beef tendons, which are classic elements of Taiwanese beef noodle soup. The mustard green helped enhance the flavor of the dish, though we needed to remind the waiter to bring ours. I think it's overall an acceptable dish. Overall, the food is acceptable for Taiwanese cuisine (I am Taiwanese), but I doubt that it is the best and most representative Taiwanese restaurant in NYC. The highlight of the night is actually the wontons without the chili sauce. The prices of all the dishes are also much higher than I would expect, even for NYC. I doubt that I would come back unless I truly cannot find a better Taiwanese restaurant.

Your menu online shows everything is "out of stock". Does that mean you're no longer in business? I'd like a Taiwanese breakfast but I don't want to go all the way there if everything is out of stock.

    Wheat noodles only I assume?

    Yes

Is the beef noodle soup served during breakfast?

No, unfortunately. Only Taiwanese breakfast during Sat & Sun brunch hours.

Has the menu expanded recently, or is it still the soft opening menu (just beef noodle soup)?

Same menu for now, but you might be able to get a full bowl of minced pork rice if you ask nicely! They are looking at adding it to the main menu soon.

My date ordered the hanger steak and said it was absolutely amazing. Only hiccup: his first glass of wine he got came out hot... like, microwave-level warm. Fortunately, the server brought a new (cold) one and the rest of the meal was smooth sailing. Service was friendly, the vibe was homey and relaxed, and the food was solid across the board. Would definitely come back, especially for that salad and another round of grenadine magic.

It was our first time eating at a Friedman's location. It had a nice diner feel to it, with a mix of booths and tables. The brunch menu has a variety of breakfast items, salads, sandwiches and burgers, starters, and entrees (fish tacos, grain bowl, fried chicken). I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. Our server was friendly and attentive, and he asked us if we had any allergies when he took our order. He came by several times to check on us and refill water.
