The lobster sticky rice is always good. I love the corn in the dish. The cold shredded chicken salad with jelly fish was good, but could have used a touch more flavor. The yuzu sauce pork chop was very flavorful and tasty. The peking duck and lettuce wrap were both so good. They were good at keeping the slices thin. For dessert we got the taro sago with black sesame rice ball. I am not a fan black sesame, but I really liked the taro sago. The seating was a bit too tight for my preferences. I felt like we were really rushed at the end of our meal to pay the bill. It was during a really busy season, but it definitely added a bit of a damper to the experience.
It's definitely one of the most authentic HK resturant that I have tasted. Service was great as our server was very nice and we got seated fairly quickly even though there was a long line. My favorite dishes are their corn soup, braised beef noodle and seafood tofu. I can't wait to come back and try other dishes. Thanks Ho Yuen Kee for having us.
It was actually my first time visiting this chinese restaurant although i have heard about it for the longest time Went for lunch with family and we tried some cantonese signature dishes: wonton with mixed noodles, Hong Kong style congee and honey moon fried rice (missed this picture) The congee was very well made and good congee texture. We liked the wonton with the generous fillings. However both the noodles and the fried rice were a bit too moist causing the texture to be too soft. Service was typical chinese restaurant service and the portion sizes were generous for the prices.
Love their lobster rice here and their 旋轉蜜汁骨 (the ribs). Food is overall really good. Decent service. Street parking.
This old gem with decent prices sub $15 for a meal is the bomb. Wontons and dumplings are made in house and very flavourful. Good service and typical Chinese restaurant that makes you feel satisfied at the end of the meal.
This is a great place for family style cantonese food! The wait was about 30 minutes for a party of 5 at 12pm on a sunday which isn't bad at all. All the dishes were pretty good! The jellyfish and chicken dish was a dish dull of texture which was fun to eat. The fried noodles were a little on the saltier side but still had a lot of flavor. The wontons had super chunky pieces of shrimp inside. This place seemed popular for their lobster sticky rice so we tried that and it was pretty good, though the rice lacked flavor in my opinion. The lobster itself was tender and sweet though! Overall would come back for canto food and the service here is really efficient
Finally got to try this place. Didn't do their famous lobster sticky rice (next time!) but got some regular dishes to see if they are more than just their famous dish. There's parking in the residential area near the restaurant. Hand shredded chicken with jelly fish - the volume was big! It had lots of chicken and thick thick jelly fish. They didnt try to cheap out by adding tons of pickled veggies like other places. Crab and fish maw soup - good quality fish maw. Uniform, bouncy and spongy. I can see crab meat chunks so that is a plus. Salt and pepper squid - wow this has got to be one of the best. I wish the portion was a bit more. Perfectly battered and every piece was coated with the salt and pepper. Salt and pepper fish filet - lack luster after the squid. I want to get the silvery fish but they said they ran out. Wouldnt order this again and go for the silvery fish to pair with congee. Deep fried egg tofu with veggies - a little lacking flavor. Tofu was fried well and tasty. Wish the bakchoy was not a big gigantic piece. Overall all dishes had ok portions and had above average taste. I will definitely come back because it seems the chef is really good here.

I've been here twice now, once for lunch and once for dinner. I would have to say dinner is much better. For lunch we had beef brisket noodles and a beef noodle dish, they were pretty good. For dinner we had a sweet and sour pork, a seafood chow mein, fried tofu and some pea shoots, they were all really good. It's a fairly good size restaurant and the service is pretty good for a "Chinese" restaurant. The prices are pretty good and the portions are a good size so it does get quite busy. When we came for dinner it was a Monday night and it was packed. It's probably a good idea to make a reso. There is pay street parking out front on Fraser St. When I'm craving Hong Kong/Cantonese food this is where I'm coming........
Affordable and perfect for larger groups. We ordered a variety of dishes and left absolutely stuffed. The lemon fish was perhaps the star of the show
We haven't been here for over ten years since Richmond been adding more and more Chinese restaurants. We were there at 5:30 quite empty but started to fill up around 6:30. One of their signature dish is Lobster on sticky rice--$30/lb+ sticky rice is $12 per portion( about 2-3 rice bowl size) The 21/2 lb lobster is fresh and silky smooth, rice has absorbed some broth from lobster. Recommend. Another dish is Honey peppered beef with fried coconut milk--okay dish, beef a lil chewy Green beans with ground pork-- a lot of the beans are getting "old", quite stringy-- do not recommend Complimentary sweet mung bean porridge--very good, done right We also ordered a bowl of Double Boiled milk custard that is the right consistency. Dishes with lobster shells are removed frequently, wait staff came to chat with us a couple of times. Prices are in line with other casual restaurants that serve noodles, wontons, rice porridges. It is not 'refined' cooking! My husband who is Cantonese loves to frequent this type of eateries. Will go for lunch next time:-)
This is an old style HK/Cantonese establishment on Fraser St. I heard it is quite busy for the dinner service. We stopped by in a group of three for lunch on a weekday and there was plenty of seating available. They are known for their lobster with sticky rice and we ordered that, with congee, an eggplant dish and chicken with green beans. The food came out pretty quick and the taste and presentation were great. I loved the way they cooked and cut up the lobster so that was much easier to eat. There was no issue with the service. It was a positive food experience.
Wow this is probably one of the best Cantonese restaurants I've had in a long while. Everything was made exceptionally well. We had the crab and fish with soy sauce and chicken. We would come back again. It's telling that there can be a line even on a Wednesday evening! read more

Wow what a busy spot! Thankfully we had a reservation on Monday night, but the restaurant was packed! We ordered an assortment of dishes to share but I was most impressed by the squab, lobster with sticky rice, green beans and pea shoots. Service can be hit or miss but the food was good! read more

Awesome staff. Very very busy place filled with mostly Cantonese speakers, which is always a good sign. Very bright and lively atmosphere. The congee is excellent, and they have good salted doughnut to go with. It's not on the menu, but you can order a smaller portion of gai lan with oyster sauce, so a veg won't break the bank. An absolute must try is the salted chicken with jellyfish. This is an awesome cold dish that blends the aforementioned items with pickled cabbage, cashew nuts, cilantro, and strips of deep fried won ton skin. All seasoned lightly with sesame oil. Came here for their lobster sticky rice based on my cousin's recommendation. I had never heard of lobster sticky rice before and I was excited. The ordering process was a bit confusing at first due to language barrier. They asked us how many portion of sticky rice we wanted and we didn't know if each person has to order a portion. After our confusion, they asked us how many people are dining (which was 3 at the moment) and recommended just 1 portion. Each portion of sticky rice can feed around 3-4 people and they chose a 3 lbs lobster for us. So if you have more people, get an additional portion of sticky rice and ask for a bigger lobster. Oh my goodness, the flavor of the sticky rice was unbelievable. The rice was so fragrant and there was a lot of flavor from the lobster. There was a sticky saucy coating on the rice that binds the rice really well. The lobster itself was so easy to eat as they pre cut it for us and all we had to do was pick at the meat with the little forks they provided. After going here, we tried many other places with similar dish and by far Ho Yuen Kee makes the best lobster sticky rice. I think our total ended up being around ~$120 just for the lobster sticky rice, which was pretty pricey, but it is a good place to treat your family or friends once in a while. They also have other dishes that were delicious as well but nothing stood out too much. We love coming here whenever relatives or friends visit! read more
Low key Chinese/ Hong Kong style cuisine. All the classics regards to congee, noodles and rice dishes. Awesome joint. Plan ahead, super busy on weekends. Service is okay. Ambience is low key run of the mill Hong Kong Style cuisine. Pricing is fair. read more
Came here for the legendary lobster sticky rice.. it was tasty but lacking something je ne sais quoi .. what could it be.. msg? Lol.. I found half the dishes to be overly salty and half the dishes to be too bland?? The spicy beef with green beans was especially salty.. overall, the food was pretty good, prices fair and service efficient. read more

Food was fast to come after ordering. Highly recommend the lobster fried rice with double rice. Salted fish and tofu hot pot was super yummy! Good service, they were friendly. You even get to see the lobster before they cook it! read more

Comfortable neighborhood Hong Kong style congee and Chinese authentic restaurant. Service is fast and efficient. Interior a bit dated and tables tightly packed together but they have small booths and mid to large size tables. Lots of favourite dishes here to try. Hand pulled chicken with jellyfish absolute must try. All the congee and noodles are nicely done. Order your steamed ginger egg dessert when you make the main order as it takes 20 minutes to prepare. Overall tasty quick eat in the area. read more

My family have been here many times for their signature popular dish! Which is the steamed lobster over garlic green onion sticky rice. It is amazing and I see why almost every table here has ordered this dish. They do take out orders, and everyone was also ordering their signature lobster dish. We used to come here every year for Christmas! We have been coming for over a decade, but haven't since the pandemic. We are pleased that the food is just as good as we remembered. We came here for Christmas eve dinner, and we ordered the must try lobster sticky rice, beef bean sprout rice noodles, eggplant and pork pot, and the black bean fried beans. We get these every time we come! The wok hei is amazing. They are understaffed (which is understandable) and super busy because all the local Chinese people know this place is the place to eat at! So expect some wait at peak hours. Their Peking duck course is also great. They also give you FREE dessert soups! Ask what they have. We got free red bean soup. read more

Cantonese restaurant in the Fraser St. business district. This restaurant has been there for a while. Mid sized restaurant with bright interior. I have not been to this place for a long time so they must have renovated. Doing decent business during lunch. Heard that it was less busy than usual because we went on a day after a holiday. The sizable menu has a variety of Cantonese items like seafood, noodles, rice, congee. Their signature dish is the steamed lobster rice, which we ordered. Tasted great as the flavor of the lobster seeps into the rice. Also had fried oyster which were quite tasty. Got their beef brisket/tendons, pig feet, and stir-fried noodles, and those were pretty solid as well. They also have very good congee, which is thick and flavorful. Overall, was a pretty good meal. It was a $200+ meal for 5, mostly because the lobster is expensive. read more
Located inthe heart of Fraser Street...Now anywhere is paid parking not unless you like to p[ark in residential area and do some great waliking...... I am surprised that service is friendly....i had bad ones with other Chinese restaurants... I got the garlic fried smelt for my appetizer,i know they are fresh , i can tell from the taste...small size fish fried into perfection with toasted garlic and sliced green chilis..just the way i like it,...crispy outside and tender inside with the vinigar as dipping sauce its very delish appetizer...My grandmother cooked it with the head...this one some were chopped...headless but still very good.... I ordered House special chowmein, asusual Chinese chef do magic with their noodles...Crispy noddle topped with seafoods, bbq pork, chicken and veggies...like I always say the secret is with the sauce that slowly soften the noodles...unremarkable dish...love every bite.. Huge place and busy...non stop pick up and a lot dining in as well..Very good with group...i saw alot of kids so maybe good for kids too.. Accept cash, debit, and credit...clean and observes covid-19 precautions.... Noise level is actually morethan average... Good food + Good service = Revisit.... read more
We came here for mid autumn festival dinner with my Husband and mom & brothers. We made reservations 1 week in advance as we knew it was going to be busy. The ambiance: high energy throughout the restaurant with guests talking over each other. We had the famous lobster sticky rice. It was so delicious! The lobster was perfectly cooked and the sticky rice had lobster flavour, yum! The cod fish tasted perfect and sauce was really good, not too salty. Very smooth. As for the beef & vegetable, it was good. Nothing too fancy. I think the last dish was sweet & sour pork chop. It was good, nothing too special. For dessert, they gave us red bean sweet soup. Good taste and consistency. All in all, a good restaurant to go with large families. read more
Ho Yuen Kee is located in Fraserhood in Vancouver. It is on Fraser street in between 46th and 47th Avenue. It is a typical Chinese restaurant which has congee, noodles, fried rice and specialty dishes. It was one of our favourite restaurants in the neighborhood because of it's famous wonton noodle and lobster sticky fried rice. Unfortunately, this place has gone downhill in quality and service. The food was lack of seasoned, and it was not enough "wok hai" taste. I really debate would I return to this place. I guess my answer is "maybe" because I still in love with their Ginger Flavour Double Broil Milk. A definite must have dish when I come to this place.
