Customer service is poor. Wait time is forever since nobody knows anything about the products in the store.

The service was okay. The cashiers are very slow and they need a new way of scanning items faster. They have to manually put in the price/ discount which takes a lot of time. They also usually only have 2 stand open, they could have more open. read more

I absolutely love the selection Hobby Lobby has. However, I don't enjoy the store atmosphere. In fact, I try to avoid shopping here if I can. It's hard to do so since I craft for a living. The employees are always cranky! Only the new younger ones are nice. I'm always scared to ring the fabric bell because of the way the ladies in that department grunt when they hear it. I'd rather cut it myself then endure their negative vibes. Also, there are NEVER enough cashiers! I always plan an extra 15 minutes for checkout. That's hoping I'm at least the third person in line. When the line gets long, managers will call for backup. Rarely will they hop on a register and quickly help the customers. Their checkout system is also horrible. No scanning? Everything is hand keyed and I can't tell you how many times I've found human error on my receipt. The older cashiers always question the sticker prices. They always want some other employee to come to register from the floor, just to walk back out to floor and check on prices. It's ridiculous. That's part of the reason why checkout takes so long! I gave three stars for product selection. Service would get one star. Cheer up people! You are in a crafting paradise! Feel the happiness! read more

We drove out here to get all the clearance yarn since I'd already picked over my local hobby lobby. Diane was stocking all the yarn and was SO SO helpful in getting us all the extras from the back and letting us go through it all. We had a full Shopping cart full and I was anticipating a very long check out process but Natalie moved through it all so quickly. I tried to group everything by price and it was maybe a 5 minute transaction. Great customer service all around. My local store is lacking in the customer service department so maybe I'll be driving out here for most of my hobby lobby needs. Great experience overall! read more

I was so excited that Hobby Lobby has finally come to my area. I spent over two hours in there and had a great time looking at the huge variety of things. The lady in the fabric department was very nice and the other two clerks that I had to ask for help were very friendly, too. My only complaint, like others on here have mentioned, is the archaeic way of checking out. Since it was my first time there, I had no idea that I needed to keep watch on what was being rung up. The cashier obviously didn't have the sale items stuck in her brain, and so I was overcharged on quite a few items. Not at all happy with that once I got home, and since it's quite a drive, wasn't willing to go all the way back for a refund. Prices were pretty good on most things, but the yarn seems to be pretty high. Just like Michael's and JoAnn's, I found many items that were WAY overpriced since the are normally at 40% to 50% off, so they have to make it look like you are really getting a deal. Love the fact that I can hear Christian music mixed in with secular, and very much admire them for not being open on Sunday. They are more interested in sticking to their beliefs than bowing down to the almighty dollar. I will continue to shop at Hobby Lobby since it was a fun place to just look around, but now that I've learned an expensive lesson, know that I have to watch what is being rung up like a hawk, which leaves me with an awkward feeling. read more

Not the place to go if you do not have alot of time. I spend a few hours everytime I go. There is so much to see. I describe it as a Joanns Micheals and pier one imports rolled into one. They have so much more of everything. Whether you are a sewer, a flower decorater, crafter, or just want to buy it ready made, this place is for you. Tip #1 if its not on sale wait, it will be. Its like the "Wal Mart" of crafts, I could spend hours at this store. Check out is a little dreadful, seems to always take a long time even if there is only one person in front of me. Had some issues with a return/exchange a few weeks ago but it was handled. Some of the managers seem like they are miserable and have only been there for a few months. Other than that they have the biggest selection of drawing/sketch books, "How-to" books on almost everything, the back wall has a variety of sales on art supplies, and I never was interested in making jewelry before I came here. Lots of things to keep kids busy too, and my FAVORITE is their home decor. Everything you could make at home yourself but the price isn't TOO too bad. read more

The registers are about as old as the outdated rows and rows of Christian indoctrination that comes with this place. Each aisle is like a spin cycle of Christianity. 25 minutes in a line is about 20 minutes too long, just like the the fiction in the Bible---too long. read more

They have some nice home decorating items, but it's really not a hobby or crafting store. They have very limited selection in their jewelry making department. If your "HOBBY" is home decorating, this is the right place for you. And in Anaheim Hills, where there are plenty of people who will spend their excess $$ on things like this, I'd say they chose a perfect location. I have to mention that every time I've been here, they have rung up my items incorrectly. They do not use a scanning system, but instead ring up each item individually by hand. Therefore, your wait in line might be quite long if the person(s) in front of you have a lot to check out. Check your receipt before exiting the store. read more

I decided to try this place for crafting items, but I was very unimpressed. The inventory they stock is pretty low in quality and their prices are high, but that's not the worst part. The worst part is the way they treat you--like you're trash and they're doing you a favor just by letting you shop there. Lines are always slow. Even when they're short! They don't open new lines and the manager (a guy) just stands around watching the (one) current checker. At one point, he slowly just walked away! A good manager would see a long line of annoyed people and hop on another register. I have never been in and out in less than 20 mins. read more

I could spend hours at this store. It's great. Grab a basket at the door or you will be holding things and your hands will start to hurt. Have bought everything from items to stage my house while selling to stuff to make a science project or birthday and Christmas gifts. It is such a large store, there is a large variety so I know I will find what I'm looking for. I found the staff friendly, genuine and very eager to help when asked a question. Some other reviews say they were not helpful but in a place like this, if I want help I will ask. I don't like being interrupted every five minutes by employees asking me if I need anything. read more

I shop at Michaels more than here because the lines are always slow. Even when there is no one here during a week day, I wait forever on line. Then if lines are long and they add a cashier, they pull a customer from the end rather than the ones whom have been waiting for a while. Managers need to better staff the store. read more

"HOBBY" Lobby? I guess I was under the (obviously incorrect) impression that this store would have a wide array of true hobby items. What a huge disappointment! Science and other learning tools for children and youth? Next to nothing! Because HL took over a former Mervyn's store, they have a huge amount of floor space with the large majority devoted to what I call 'junk' and knick knacks. That would be ok I guess if they wouldn't bury their small inventory of hobby items at the back. No one around to help you find what you might be looking for, so we left, NEVER to return. I'm really torn about Hobby Lobby...I'm happy to have them in my neighborhood & appreciate the fact that they have the coolest selections of bins, tins, trinkets, art supply....you name it....they most likely have it. However, I found the best service in the entire store is honestly in the fabric department. The gals there are very helpful & knowledgeable about sizing fabrics. Their recommendations have always been on point when I'm there with my girls. My main complaint is the slow moving lines. At first I thought it was just the fact that they were new, but now it's ridiculous. I've actually left merchandise behind and went off to Michaels. They really need to work on their check - out line. Other than that, location is great. Employees in the front don't seem too friendly, but I figured since the line is usually long they're probably stressed. For fabric now, I do head to Joannes for a bigger selection. read more

This Hobby Lobby has become my Saturday morning routine errand stop every week now. I absolute love coming to this location. The store is pretty big, the sales are great, and the reason why I didn't give the store 5/5 stars is because the only thing lacking is their customer services. They are really the slowest when checking out. Luckily I enjoy being in the store enough to not let it be such a big problem, but it is definitely something the company needs to work on is a more efficient way to check customers out. read more

Wow, this place is so large it should have its own area code. I came in here to browse, left with $420 worth of home decor. Many items were deeply discounted, I suspect if something isn't on sale one week it will be the next. GREAT variety, great prices, but where this place really excels is their staff. For being a so-called Christian owned business, their associates are poorly trained in customer service. Their floor managers, clerks and cashiers have the attitude that they are always right and the customer is wrong. They are condescending, curt and rude--at least at THIS store. I worked more than thirty years for a major company whose main focus was guest service, and I would have been suspended or terminated if I was observed treating a customer the way I was treated by more than one clerk and manager. read more

I went in tonight for some fabric, close to closing time and had a terrible experience. Diane, the employee working in the fabric area, was not helpful. She was clearly more concerned about clocking out on time, than with the customers in her department. She told another couple, "we close at 8 and I need to cut your fabric now. I need to clock out at 8:10." I asked her where the remnant fabric was and she gave me a bad look and waived her hand saying, "over there." When I went to the front of the store to pay for my items, the other couple was in front of me. The cashier asked if they found everything ok and they said not really. She looked confused because they were purchasing items. They paid and left. When it was my turn, I told her that they wanted to buy more items, but did not find them because Diane was rude and told them she needed to clock out at 8:10. The cashier was not very apologetic and seemed to understand and identify with Diane as an employee vs. seeing the poor customer service in the situation. All this to say, I probably won't be back and will be telling anyone interested about this poor experience. read more

I use to go to michaels and buy my arts and oil painting supply but no there is hobby lobby. There selection is enormous and I cannot express how good this place is. Don't forget to find the 40% off coupon on your smart phone to get some savings. Lines are quick and staff is helpful and friendly.
