A happy elf. That appreciates genuine hospitality

2 stars because we love Hobby Lobby. Minus 3 stars due to the manager on duty today, 11/24/23. Not the co-manager, the actual manager in a red button up shirt. My mom and I were happy to shop the sales rack. In the midst of grabbing a few rolls of wrapping paper, some thing sliced my mother's finger open. It wasn't the wrapping paper but the shelving or possibly broken glass that was not cleaned up properly before.. I found the manager on duty, just to let him know there was a sharp object. I didn't want another customer to hurt themselves. Unfortunately, the man showed no concern for my mother's injury or injury to additional customers. He asked if I wanted to make a report, but obviously annoyed by my presence. I explained we didn't want to make a report. I just wanted to let him know so that the sharp object could be removed for future shoppers. He said he would take care of it, however, he did not ask where it took place so I'm not sure how he intended on following up. Managers, we all know this is a simple safety practice procedure. Follow up with the hurt customer. Make sure she is okay. Correct the problem. And at the very least, show some concern. Not impressed whatsoever!

Went here today and the store had 1 person checking people out with a line through the store. When I asked the manager to open another check out he told me he didn't have people trained!?!?! Are you joking?? He had 5 people standing around!! Then I said why don't you jump on? He said he can't and walked away and hid! What a joke won't ever come back here.

How could I possibly say no to these 'stache's

Hobby Lobby is a great place to buy a little house warming gift for someone. Lots of unique wall hangings, picture frames and knick knacks. They also offer some great decorations for whatever upcoming holiday is upon us -- stuff you don't see at every other store. As far as craft supplies go, you're better off going to Michael's, it's cheaper and they have a better selection. Whenever I'm working on a project I always go to both places and I end up getting the bulk of my stuff from Michael's. The staff isn't very helpful or friendly, they're always pissed off and stocking shelves. Also, they are closed on Sunday because it's the Sabbath, which I respect but that's when I do most of my shopping so it doesn't help me out.

I have done business with a wide variety of suppliers and Reynolds is now my top choice for materials. They just know their stuff when it comes to making something. With casting materials and mold materials there are so many choices from so many suppliers it can be a challenge at times to find the right path to get the results you want. Laurie at Reynolds in Tempe just has it down where the guess work is at a real minimum. Not every project or job is a 1,2,3, to finish operation, so anything that takes out the error and saves you money is a bonus in my book and Reynolds does just that. Oh yeah, be ready to gawk for a while if you're a creator, because your choices and tools available at Reynolds far exceeds many of the suppliers I used while working in Hollywood.

This wasn't just us, several people in our class had the same issue, and they had to call the owner to sort everything out before we could start. They also mentioned that we could bring our own drinks, which sounded great, but I wouldn't recommend it for the wheel-throwing class. We didn't open our wine as no cups were provided but there was also no time during the class to drink it. That said, our instructor, Callum, was amazing! Truly hands-on, patient, and made sure everyone left with a piece they were proud of, whether they chose to keep it or not. One thing to note: I wouldn't recommend this specific class for out-of-towners. If you want to keep your piece, the process takes about a month. First firing, then returning to paint, then a second firing. You also pay separately for any pieces you choose to keep and paint. Our class was $35 per person, and it's $20 per piece for firing if you plan to come back and paint it. It's a commitment, but also two fun experiences if you're local or don't mind returning. Overall, I'm taking off one star due to our specific experience with their wheel throwing activity, but I still think the concept of this place is great, and I look forward to coming back to paint my piece as well as to try a different activity!
