Entering this traditional supper club is like traveling back in time to the middle of the 20th century. It's been several years since our previous visit, and the only thing that ever seems to change here is the prices. The over-the-top (but dated) elegance, a commanding view of Lake Michigan, doting service, and well-prepared classics remain exactly as we remember. We made our reservations online and were seated promptly upon arrival. The cocktails are expertly mixed and generous in size (the Missus and I are Bloody Mary types). The days of a "free" relish tray are no more, but we ordered one as our app ($13) and the plentiful portion was more than enough for our party of 4. A basket of freshly-baked rolls accompanied by a thick slab of melty butter arrived next. Entrée prices include a choice of soup or salad and a side dish. Their baked French onion soup rivals most pub versions and the house-made salad dressings are exceptional. For my entrée, I could not resist ordering that old school supper club classic, Chicken Oscar. My dining companions went with chopped steak and chicken parmigiana. Everything was superb and the portions were so generous that we boxed up half to take home. For dessert, we wanted something a bit lighter than their caloric classics. Although not on the menu, the kitchen gladly doled out 1-scoop ice cream sundaes (they can also prepare a gold brick sundae). The staff will not rush you. Plan on spending an entire evening here, soaking up the nostalgia. Don't miss the bar with its spectacular view of the lake. The retro Hobnob experience and Wisconsin's lower gas prices are a great incentive for us Illinoisans to dine here more often! read more

The food was delicious and tasted fresh, like it was cooked to order. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I had the ribeye entree with salad and baked potato. The second entree was the baked chicken breast w/crab cakes on top and baked French onion soup and just ok au gratin potatoes. Overall, both dishes were amazing! The atmosphere was warm and welcoming. Low lighting. Kinda loud bc it was packed. Not one open seat. Bar. Patio area overlooking Lake Michigan. Table cloths kinda place...Reservations! Yes! The atmosphere is awesome if you want perfect views of Lake Michigan and the decor was fashionable and quaint. Service was ok/good. The bartender seemed sarcastic or maybe crabby? And I recognize our server was busy with a large table, but timing wasn't great and we ended up waiting for our bill for at least 30 minutes. Loved that the meals provided a soup, salad and a potato. French onion was good, as was the garden salad, side of red potatoes were bland and nothing to brag about. Prime rib was good and tender, but not the most flavorful one I've ever had. We invited some relatives to dinner at Hobnob Thursday evening. It must have been an off night for the kitchen. Meatball appetizer tasted as though it was frozen and reheated, the chicken vesuvio entree was not like any vesuvio dish I've ever eaten. It had some kind of gelatinous gravy on it that was that was gross. Even the wiener schnitzel was kind of soggy. Sorry - Not a great meal. read more

Our first time at Hob Nob together with another couple visiting from out of town. What a disappointment! We are familiar with the supper club circuit throughout the Milwaukee area and were looking forward to a great new experience at Hob Nob because our friends highly recommended it. The building and interior are of a classy, cozy supper club and the location on the lakefront is stunning. Unfortunately, that's where all the good things ended. From our check-in with the unsmiling, unwelcoming hostess, to our waitress who was grossly inexperienced for a fine dining establishment, and the mediocre food, the entire experience was underwhelming and extremely disappointing for a restaurant of this caliber. There are certainly much better supper clubs in the Milwaukee area at equal and lower price points. Save yourself a trip and money and go somewhere else. read more

We had a wonderful experience here celebrating a special occasion. The atmosphere is fantastic, such a fun retro vibe, paired with beautiful views of Lake Michigan in the background. It made for a really memorable setting. Our group enjoyed a three-course meal, and overall it was a great experience. Our waitress was friendly, attentive, and checked in often without being overbearing, which we really appreciated. For appetizers, we ordered cheese curds, crab-stuffed mushrooms, and calamari. The cheese curds and calamari were great, but I would personally skip the stuffed mushrooms next time. Most of us ordered the filet, and it was cooked perfectly across the board, definitely a highlight of the meal. The sides (potatoes) were just okay, but the salads and French onion soup were absolutely outstanding. We looked forward to visiting this classic supper club since we were going to be in the area overnight. We had a reservation for early on a Friday evening and were seated in the section with a nice view of the lake. Our server was attentive though did not do as much to explain the menu and specials as we heard from other nearby servers. I started with an old fashioned since that is always my first test of a Wisconsin supper club. It was just OK - actually it tasted a bit weak. We decided to opt for their fish fry since it had been awhile since we had one. This turned out to be one of the cheaper entrees on a menu with items up to $116! Not a cheap place to dine. The nice thing is you got soup, salad and a potato as part of the meal along with a dinner roll. I did like the spinach salad with the hot bacon dressing - very good. They did offer the French onion soup without the melted cheese as one of the regular soups which was nice. If you wanted it the traditional way it was another $8 - ouch! The fish fry was solid though my wife thought her fish was a bit rubbery. The fries needed to be more crisp since they were soggy though well spiced. We decide to splurge and spend $16 for their brandy Alexander dessert drink. It was a tower of ice cream - it was good but had very little brandy flavor. Not sure it was worth it. Despite them making a big deal in their menu about having a leisurely meal of 1.5 to 2.5 hours we were on track of being out of there in under an hour since the food was flying out of the kitchen. That was until we ordered our dessert drink which we waited nearly 20 minutes for. Hmmm. When we left we realized that if you really want a party scene you need to dine in the bar area. It was loud and festive with live music and a much funkier decor. We were fine where we sat. So overall I was expecting more. My husband and I took his parents and grandma here to celebrate her 91st bday. Everyone was great, the hostess and waitress acknowledged Gma's bday and I had requested a window table and they gave us the best seat in the house (corner window). Gma doesn't eat a lot so she shared with my MIL. My husband and I ordered the ribeye, medium rare, and we both got ceasar salads and french onion soup. Personally I thought everything was okay but that may not be fair bc we are from Chicago and steaks are done differently there. My husband liked everything fine. We visit Hobnob a few times every year for the past 20 years or so. The atmosphere is good; a throwback to the past. The cocktails are typically very good. Sadly, the food is poor excuse for what it once was. Incredibly overpriced steaks for the relative quality. Medium rare prime rib was rubbery-tough and over-salted. Filet was lean and dry. Lamb shank tasted like heavily mineralized dirt. And the schnitzel was soggy and bland. Throw in $6 upcharges for unimpressive baked French onion and $6 more for a stick of butter in the "loaded" mashed potatoes. Nearly $900 for 8 adults. No one left the Easter brunch impressed. We've spent small fortunes here. It's not worth it. 2 stars for atmosphere and cocktails. read more

We were very excited to try the nostalgic supper club when traveling through the area. The atmosphere and decor are definitely the best feature of this restaurant. It's right on the water and uniquely decorated with a retro vibe. We had reservations and were seated immediately. Our hostess was nice and offered us a choice of tables. The restaurant was busy and the dining rooms were fairly loud- not the cozy environment we were hoping for. We started with old fashioners which were tasty. Our waitress to a while to get to us to order our meals. We started with the relish tray. It was dropped off at our table but no explanation of what the spreads were it was okay- mostly spicy peppers and probably not worth the $13. For our main meal we ordered steak in a skillet and a shrimp cocktail which I was having as the entree. We got the steak first. The veggies in the skillet were good but the steak was chewy with not much flavor- we ordered it medium rare. We were almost finished with the steak when the waitress brought out the shrimp. We were about to tell her we didn't want it. Wish we had told her it was a $17 shrimp cocktail with 4 medium shrimp with cocktail sauce that tasted like ketchup. All in all it was a just okay experience and in our opinion not worth the hype/price. read more

4.5 stars. A classic supper club right on the lake in Kenosha, though sadly due to dining on a Saturday night in February, we did not get to experience the spectacular lake views. Coat check is a nice touch, for the chilly winter nights and not having to drag your coat to your table. We made a reservation in advance but still had a little bit of a wait when we got there, so we hung out in the first room at the bar. Inside, this place looks like a design battle between old Hollywood glam, a drag queen, and a history buff --imagine velvet galore and comfortably chaotic, but from the outside, classic diner. Each room offers its own unique style, and we were seated in the one with large windows that would typically offer a view of the lake (though it was a bit too dark to enjoy it during our winter visit). The atmosphere was peaceful, which was great for our larger group, as we could hear each other without shouting. Our server, Christian, was attentive and made the experience even better. Now for the food, we started with oysters on the half shell, and most of the table opted for steaks -- filets, New York strips, and the famed cowboy ribeye. Each dinner (for chops and steaks) comes with your choice of soup, salad, and potatoes, with some premium upgrades available. Most of us chose the French onion soup, which came with extra cheese -- a delicious addition! The food was solid overall, though I wouldn't say there was anything particularly extraordinary, except for the classic way the courses were served. Based on reviews I'd read before coming, there were some complaints about the value versus the price, but with the three-course meal and side of potatoes, I felt I got my money's worth. For dessert, the table shared a variety of options, including an ice cream drink, flourless chocolate cake with ice cream, and tiramisu. Finally got to check this place out. I heard great things! We showed up about 20 minutes early for our reservation, so we made our way over to the bar. The bartender broke the ice by making everyone laugh and have a great time. After enjoying a couple cocktails we were seated, and ordered. Our food (prime rib) was experty prepared and our beverages were beautifully made. The staff were very professional and courteous. I'm a sucker for Wisconsin supper clubs--Especially if they have an awesome view and a small jazz band playing. Seriously, what's not to like? This place is both clean and dark. My wife commented on this fact which is important because dark restaurants sometimes hide their flaws in their darkness. Not here. The place was great-- all the stuff. Mirrored walls, dressed up wait staff, fish fry and prime rib as well as an impressive Wisconsin old fashioned. We had crab cakes and filet both were excellent but there was so much food-- it really feels like a bargain. Bread & butter, salad, soup, potato and then your entree. Holy hell for 4 drinks, 2 entrees plus the outstanding calamari (we didn't need) we were in for only $150. AND, we got some fun photos outside. New management and not nearly as good as it was before. We had a reservation for a birthday dinner at 6:30 on a Saturday night. We arrived about 2 minutes late but were told our table still wasn't ready. They offered for us to go to the bar, but the area was pretty full for people dining and those already at the bar that it was tough for 5 people. Plus, it took a while before we got drinks. Thankfully, we were seated within about 5-10 min. When our server stopped by, she advised they were already out of prime rib. Okay, stuff happens. When asked about appetizers, we placed an order of the gorgonzola garlic bread. Our server came back after a while saying they were out of that as well. This is a favorite for the birthday boy and one of the reasons we came so second tough blow for the night. We got some bread but no butter and had to ask another server as ours disappeared for a while. We got our ice cold salads which were plain and meh. Balsamic was a dressing option, but really, it's just a bottle of balsamic vinegar. We were able to get a bottle of oil so we could make our own dressing, but it didn't do much to dress up the bland salad. The one thing we liked was the french onion crock. The entrees were just okay. For the prices you're paying, it doesn't seem worth it. The filet was one of the worst my husband had. Not cooked right, lacking flavor and low quality (lot of gristle for a filet). The salmon was okay but not worth the price, honestly. The baked potato on the side was pretty small compared to most supper clubs we've been to. The ambiance is great. They have live music in the bar some nights when we've gone and the place looks cool. The Hob Nob has long been a favorite place of mine for special occasions but unfortunately they are not as fabulous as they used to be. On a recent dinner my party was seated far far back in a dark corner despite making reservations well in advance. It was so dark we couldn't see the menu let alone the Lake Michigan views, the beautiful bar or the live music. It was also extremely hot!!! One of the best experiences on this trip. Leslie the manager and Connor the waiter were exceptional. Mike one of the line cooks showed me around. Went for brunch and it was not good. It is spring and they serve frozen, limp, gross strawberries on their waffles! Not acceptable. Please serve fresh fruit or at least indicate in your menu that all fruit being used is frozen and not fresh! This restaurant needs to "step up its game." I ask the management to please eat the food being served in your restaurant and judge for yourselves if it is fresh, tasty, and looks to be something you would like to eat.
