We recently ordered 2 dinners, fresh salads for takeout. Never again. We ordered from here many times before this and it was pretty good. We came to find out it had recently changed hands . What a change. We called at 5:15 before the Saturday rush. 1 hour later , no dinner. Speaking to the clerk she said they were still cooking our dinner and it will be done soon. Then you will be the first delivery. 55 minutes later, another call. Clerk was all apologetic saying it just went out . Driver should be there shortly. 2 and 1/2 hours later . We received our order for no charge. It was awful, not even edible. The mozzarella cheese on my salad had gone bad. The pasta with shrimp was very gritty and tasted like cement. My friends Caesar salad was mushy and her entree was missing chicken , mushrooms and other vegetables. Needless to say I highly recommend you avoid this restaurant . read more

I have never had a good pizza since i moved here from Nyc. Everything was hit or miss, until Hoboken Pizza opened couple years ago. Great pizza! and entrees when we ordered on occasion were good too, until bout 6 months ago. Then we found out there was new owners and cook and that explained it! The pizza is hit or miss(mostly miss)and they changed the meatball pie which was so good but not anymore. Last night we decided to order food. I ordered eggplant parm, which is on menu as "baked entree" if that's what they call it! It was paper thin slices covering the top of about a pound of spaghetti! The eggplant as thin as they were not cooked all the way, i had to cut it with a steak knife! I'm done, and it looks like other people feel the same. read more

So disappointing, I don't know what happened to these guys.. they used to be great. I just had a similar experience to the other reviews. In my case yesterday I ordered a Hobokens & a Lg Cheese pie. This was at 11:45AM for lunch. I was told delivery in 1/2 hr (I'm 5 blocks from the restaurant). Pizza came after 2PM and was like it was sitting on a table for 2 hrs. Barely warm, and dried out like when you go to a pizza place and look at the pizzas that have been sitting behind glass on display for an hr. Picture ordering one of those slices and having them plop it on a plate without oven heating it. That's my best description. The Hobokens (their signature pie) was NOTHING like it used to be. Crap ingredients & Really dry. *** These guys should be in damage control mode right now or they aren't going to last much longer. Lots of good alternatives in the area... read more

Just picked up a Sicilian pie, it was horrible. The sauce tasted sour, the dough was like bread and way too thick. This used to be our go to place for Sicilian but no more. I'm hearing rumblings about new ownership, I guess they are right. read more

Sandwitch 2 PLAIN chicken cutlet Sandwitch... a few chicken pieces were raw.... We used to get pizza from this place consistently, and it was reliably good (always a good crust, and the toppings were fresh and delicious). Last time we were there, we waited for almost an hour to pick up an order that we called in. More and more people showed up, each citing that they were told it would be 15 minutes. Maybe it was a staffing issue or just a rough night, but we watched as someone kept taking orders on the phone--with each one taking forever due to apparent call quality issues--as completed orders kept stacking up behind him. We could tell that the kitchen staff were working hard to handle all the tickets, but no one was handling expo and there seemed to be much confusion as to whose order was ready. Ordered two pies for pickup this past Sunday. When I arrived the door was locked and lights were off. I called their number but went to voicemail where it said they were having technical issues and to call back later. Meanwhile I had to scramble to replace the two pies that the pizzeria failed to make. After trying again that night and the next day but no response, I tried texting a few days later and finally connected. We had some back and forth text but in the end he said he made the pizza (restaurant was closed) and did not refund me for the pizza. Just a word of warning. Not a good guy. read more

Not the same food.. huge disappointment tonight. Seasoned fries just had salt & pepper and the to go container was super small for $9. The chicken cutlet sandwich was terrible and used to be my favorite. Pickled onions were hardly pickled, there was no pepper, they melted cheese on lettuce (gross!) and the garlic aioli apparently means chunks of garlic, it was terrible. The cheesesteak had NO taste at all, so so bland. Also found an herb stick in the chicken cutlet sandwich.. I will not be a returning customer. read more

My family has tried several pies from Hoboken's Pizzeria. Our favorite is still the Spinach Artichoke Rectangle Pie and we now prefer it cooked light so the crust is soft vs crispy. I got some friends into this pizzeria and this pie, it's become their favorite too. After 1 pie was too crispy, almost burnt, the owner remembered us and gave a discount the next time I went in. Really nice people. We drive from several towns over because their pizza tastes great. read more

Just ordered food from Hoboken pizzeria in pompton plains on rt23. The food had no taste. Skimpy portions. No presentation and not hot at all. And the pizza was horrible. I don't know what happened to this place. After calling them and let them know about my food I was told that is under new ownership and new cook. I asked to talk to the owner and was told that he was not there For this place to be called an Italian restaurant and pizzeria is a disgrace My advice is get real cooks and pizzaman or go in a different business. Terrible! Stay away! Tried the 1/2 price lunch special and it wasn't worth THAT! Told 2:00 PM Pick up. Arrived 2 PM. My onion rings, garlic bread and fried calamari were sitting in aluminum container bottoms cooling on the counter. 25 minutes later the owner and only person in the place was packing my order. Garlic bread with cheese was inedible. The rest of the food stone cold from sitting on counter waiting for him to figure out how to get one order packed. The eggplant rollentini was burned because he heated it by deep frying instead of in the oven. Besides my order he had one large pie to make and he handled that so badly that parts of the pie stuck to the apparently unwashed aluminum pan. He threw that pie in the garbage. He could not manage to get out two orders in more than 1/2 hour. Everything was awful. I give him a month and they will be gone. Remember when AJ had this place and it was always mobbed because the food and the service were exemplary? I miss AJ's. read more

absolutely the worst pizzeria there is!! we ordered food at 6:15 stated it would take 65-78 minutes. two hours later we called and they told us the pizza is coming out of the oven and delivery guy is standing here waiting to get it to you. another 25 min later called again told us the exact same thing and oh stated it was a big pizza and your going to love it and have leftovers. another 25 min later called and said they left 10 min ago. 3/12 hours later called and they were closed and the best part is WE NEVER GOT OUR PIZZA! they never delivered it and waited until 10pm and called my credit card and now in dispute with it. this is so horrendous how you can do this to a paying customer which there pizza isn't cheap! I will never ever order again from them! Good luck to anyone who orders from these people! just disgusting how they bull crap you and never deliver anything! I've been impressed with the quality of the food - including the pizza - since I first discovered this gem. The other night I ordered chicken franchese and pasta with oil and garlic. It was so refreshing to receive pasta cooked to perfection (al dente') rather than the usual soggy mess I've received from other restaurants. I continue to be impressed and will remain a very happy customer, I'm sure. I am still drooling over the penne vodka. I ran in with my toddler for a quick slice and I ordered rice balls for me. They offered to try it with penne vodka instead of marinara and holy Moly I swear I saw Jesus!!! It is divine. Drooling. You can tell the chef cooks with love because it was that delicious. Ordered a plain cheese pie for pick up. It was ready promptly for pick. Mediocre taste and was a little chintzy on the cheese.

We ordered for the first time from Hoboken Pizza. For delivery they told us it would take an hour. So after waiting for an hour and a half we called and they told us they would be there in another 10 minutes. After waiting another 30 minutes (Now 2 hours) we called again. They called the driver and we were then told he did another delivery with ours and he would be there in 4 minutes. We asked if the food was going to be cold by the time it got here and they assured us that it would not be. Finally driver showed up after 2 hours and 10 minutes and surprise surprise the pizza was cold. Also, no apology from the driver or the staff for taking as long as it did. We were 11 minutes away from the pizzeria. We figured we would try out a new place and after waiting so long and hoping that the food would be worth the wait it really wasn't.
