Buy okay, but DO NOT rework or re-size your ring with Hoffman! Sixteen years ago, we purchased our wedding rings from Ronnie Hoffman, they were what we wanted and we think we got a good value. Recently, we asked Mr. Hoffman to resize my husband's wedding band. He took the ring, we paid for the resize, and when we got the ring back it was resized but it looked nothing like the ring we gave him. In fact, we thought he mailed us the wrong ring. Turns out it was my husband's wedding band but the exterior was completely changed during the resize somehow. We explained how the ring looked when we gave it to him, in that it was two-toned (2 metals) where one of the metals was a wide matte stripe down the center of the ring. He asked us to mail it back to be fixed, which we did on our own dime ($100 to insure it). We received the ring back a second time and it was better but had poor workmanship and still only looked like one metal instead of being two-toned. Ronnie requested we send him a photo of the ring and we did that, and right afterwards we followed up with a phone call to discuss how the ring still does not look correct. Instead of acknowledging the poor workmanship or the fact that the ring was still only one color metal, he spoke over us and seemed agitated and told us how we can't have a new ring, and to not come to him anymore. What?! Ronnie didn't even address the concerns we had with the ring. We didn't want a new ring, we wanted our ring to look like it did when we gave it to him to resize. We will not go back to buy anything from Ronnie after this experience. Unprofessional to say the least! read more

I just had a great experience with Hoffman. I ended up in possession of a stone of unknown value, and knowing nothing about diamonds, I called a few local jewelers to ask if I could bring it in and have it evaluated. Ronnie's wife told me to come right over and they invited me into the back where Ronnie offices. He had me sit down and then explained everything he was going to do to review the stone, asking me to come around the counter so I could see exactly what was happening and feel comfortable. I was recommended to Hoffman Diamond by a close friend. The ring shopping process was pretty overwhelming and I was told that Ronnie is great at what he does and a straight shooter. He is very straight forward and to the point. He crafted a ring for my fiance from scratch and did it it all within the budget I gave him. Even when we ran into a slight problem (which was totally my fault) he was very accommodating and helpful and made adjustments so I was able to get exactly what I wanted. Recently, I wanted to thank my wife for not only being my wife of 39 years, but also helping me through some very tough medical situations during which I know that she literally saved my life. I settled on purchasing an upgrade to her wedding stone. Being new to Houston, we thought we should check out some of the many diamond brokers in the city. Our first stop was at Hoffman Diamonds because they were close to where we lived at the time. We didn't realize that we were supposed to have an appointment; however, Ronnie Hoffman graciously made time for us. In our first meeting, Ronnie taught us more than the 4Cs and discussed the quality of the cuts, polish, etc. and the importance of fluorescence. We left feeling more knowledgeable than ever before. Ronnie taught us in a very low key, non-high pressure way. We went back a second time to look at a few stones. This was followed by a third meeting to look at stones that he brought in for us to see based on our selection criteria. One diamond stood out in particular with Ronnie saying "this is an amazing one of a kind type stone and for the money......." The stone was a 1.96 carat, E color, VS1, triple X with NO fluorescence! It was a beautiful stone and we decided to purchase it. Now we needed a mounting. My wife looked at countless mountings and she narrowed it down to two tension-set mountings. Ronnie went the extra mile and had his ring designer create wax moldings of both rings and had them overnighted to us so my wife could literally try them both on before making our final decision. We chose one mounting for the new stone and the second mounting for my wife's current stones. Within a week, both rings were completed and were absolutely stunning. Ronnie was instrumental in making all of this happen flawlessly. He made it a wonderful experience. Not only did we get a superior stone to others we had seen at one of the larger chain jewelry stores, his prices were very competitive.
