I've lessened my visits to poke establishments since I feel the price for poke bowls overall has gotten fairly high, but decided to come back here since they were offering 20% off for Elk Grove restaurant week. Place was completely empty at around 7pm on a Thursday. The guy behind the register was super welcoming, the food area was clean, and the fish looked to be of decent quality (no funky colors with the tuna). I got five proteins since it was only $2 more and made sure to keep the marinated options separate from the fresh ones so I could preserve the individual flavors. I pretty much add everything possible into my bowl, and the person helping me didn't seem to lessen the portions as I kept adding. The bowls here seem wider than other places, so my ingredients didn't seem cramped either. The facility was extremely clean, and since it's nearby I'll probably come back on the off chance I have the urge to get another poke bowl. It's only a couple more dollars than sushi rolls so I guess the price isn't really that bad. read more

I've been here many times since we moved to Elk Grove, and I mainly come for their Fire Poke Nachos. I'll occasionally order the Lobster Roll for my kid. The nachos come with a choice of one protein, and I always choose salmon. They're loaded with spicy tuna, spicy mayo, hot sauce, surimi crab, jalapeños, and habanero masago. I usually remind them to go light on the sauce since there's already plenty. I also like to add furikake, garlic chips, and seaweed on top. I usually order this to go and eat it at home, and it tastes just as good as when eaten fresh at the restaurant. They also offer catering. They catered my friend's husband's 40th birthday party, and the oysters were a big hit. Overall, this is a solid spot for fresh poke especially their Fire Poke Nachos. read more

While the worker was slowly scooping the fish in the bowl, he said that he could actually ring me up for it first before he even started making it. Kinda sus if you asked me.... I don't think he wanted me to see him make it. I swear he took some poke out the bowl. When I got it, I tried to look for all the pieces of fish and could barely find any. The amount I got, I could count on one hand...literally only 5 pieces of fish, and I'm being so serious. The wonton chips are super crunchy, like too crunchy. Hokee Pokee had their grand reopening yesterday! The outside was decorated with cute balloons and they have a pretty wall for pictures! I visited during lunch at around 12PM and it was busy. I was surprised to see that they were giving 50% off each regular poke bowl, which is why it was so popular that afternoon. I am glad there was a limit to 1 bowl per person because more people can get a change to enjoy the food and not hold up the line with a big order that takes advantage of the deal. The line was almost out the door, but it moved fast because they were well prepared with lots of great, friendly workers. The portions are okay and the fish looked fresh! I should have gotten the spicy salmon and Hawaiian tuna because the seasonings looked delicious and I watched as they restocked it. Since I already said triple scoops of regular salmon and didn't want to mess with the employee's work flow, I decided to stick with my decision. They use an ice cream scooper for the proteins. When the worker was scooping the fish, I noticed sometimes that they did not do full scoops. I'm not the type of person to say anything about it and will take what I can get. They give a good amount of sauce with their pump dispenser. I got ponzu and original shoyu. I heard from the person in front of me that it will cost extra for a third one. For my additional toppings I got edamame, crab salad, masago, cucumber, onions, mac salad, and dried seaweed. The rice was very hot and I feel like I can taste rice vinegar, but I'm not too sure if the acidity is from the ponzu sauce. Overall, the food was pretty good after I mixed everything in. I had to order for everyone since they don't know what they want, 3 regulars. The fish looked fresh and the staff were very patient with our orders as they were preparing for online orders as well. Overall, it wasn't bad. If I were to do it again, I'd have them put less sauce. I was overwhelmed and eventually became too salty for my taste. The fam thought so as well. The ratio between what was given and the price, I thought it was a bit too much - from what I'm used to in LA or Hawaii. $76 for 3 regulars. We could get a nice Chinese family dinner at a restaurant. Very good customer service. I asked for extra edamame and offered to pay for it, but he told me it was okay and happily gave me another scoop without charge. I got home and unfortunately, one of my proteins was either bad or spoiled. It's okay, it happens sometimes and can be outside of the business' control unless they 're snacking on the fish all day I called and let them know and he was so kind and offered me a full refund and I recognize his voice from being the person who helped me. I told him it was not needed because I can pick it out, but it was because I remembered he had amazing service when I was in earlier. He wanted to make sure I was happy and asked if I wanted the bowl remade, but the rest of the bowl was fine and edible besides that one protein so it wasn't a huge deal. I will be back! Been going here for years until one day I showed up and there was a sign on the door that said it was reopening soon under new managment. Nothing on any socials that I could find mentioned it and no hours were updated but I was willing to excuse that. The resturant has a more modern vibe to it now which made me a little sad but still no bid deal. However when i got the 50% poke bowl today at grand reopening I wasn't impressed. They used to measure their fish scoops with a scale. Now they dont and I got way less fish than i'm normally used to. Got maybe 9 edamame beans, hard nearly inedible avocado, and a couple bites of seaweed. On top of that their soda machine is still out of order, and the bottled sodas they have aren't cold either so I had to ask for a cup for ice. The rice and fish tasted alright but the shrimp they use now is tiny comparatively. They also removed yellowtail from the menu. Also kinda sad that they dont seperate the ingredients in the bowl like they used to. I think the old method gave for a nicer eating experience and presentation. Overall its just very different from the hokee poke I used to love and it didnt feel like they were grand opening ready. First time ordering using door dash everything was really good although the amount of fish was a little skimpy. Second time ordering we added an additional scoop of fish which was not included. They also missed the extra scoop of seaweed salad (which is an additional cost) and the scoop they did give us was about half the amount we got in our first order. There were also additional toppings missing. Giving the three stars because everything is fresh and tasty however we did not get what we paid for in our second order. Both arrived containing the exact same amount of poke. To add to the rip off, one of the three fish requested was omitted from the regular. The rice was stale. The fish did not taste like it was good quality. I have celiacs, and requested gluten free sauce. They gave me sauce with gluten, and I have been ill the last 3 days. Great food. The fish is crazy fresh and they have a nice selection of toppings. The young lady that helped me was very nice and patient while I selected my ingredients. The inside is small, but unlike the other poke place in Elk Grove they have useable tables and chairs inside so that was nice to see. They have outdoor seating in the shade as well. The only reason this is a 4 star and not a five is the price. I got a large bowl with no drink and nothing additional and it was almost $30. I am so sad to leave this review... I have been coming in for about 10 years and recently saw the ownership change and asked about food changes. I was told the food would be the same just new additions to the menu... Not the case. Everything tasted so different and disgusting that I had to call to double check if they got new vendors or if my food went bad. My ahi tuna was bright pink (first red flag) and when I ate it, it was so gritty that I thought it was coated in masago. The fish was not fresh and literally dissolved in my mouth with each bite. When I called, there was no sympathy or concern. I told them I wasn't comfortable even eating it and I was just told it was safe. I don't live close so couldn't drive back to talk to someone in person. Waste of $30. I was craving pokè nachos and decided to come here to try it. I ordered their Aloha poke nachos to-go. I love the fact that they are not cheap with their portions, except I think the scoop of the salmon could have been bigger. I opted not to have the seaweed, so they gave me an extra scoop of the crab mix instead. When I got home and dug in it, it ended up being too much crab mix, which took over the flavor profile of the nachos, and the combined with the sauces made the nachos heavy and wet. Also, the sauces were overly sweet. The chips are also a bit too hard for my liking. It felt like it was cutting the roof of my mouth. Overall, it's not bad. This costed $20 with very little fish, the scoop was so small that I had no more than 5 cubes of each type of fish in my box. Sauce was not properly mixed so some cubes had no coating and other cubes had too much coating. I couldn't discern whether or not the fish was fresh enough to worth this price. I originally wanted ponzu sauce, but was told they ran out. Poor service, staff looked like they didn't want to be there, and tables indoor were not promptly wiped down.
