It was the first time i ordered from here. I ordered for pickup on their website. When i got there my order wasn't ready yet but my friends was. They also got my order wrong and gave me rice instead of zoodles. I went back and complained and they were willing to changed my order to the correct one. The taste was great and for a pretty decent price. Would definitely come again. Taste: 8/10 Service:7/10
Been exploring different restaurant using mealapp. This should really be 3.5*. The place has no seats and more of an order and go location. I showed the mealapp and one of the employees told me to scan the QR code by the cash register which took me a few minutes to find since the wooden plaque was facing the other way and I didn't want to start touching stuff. The crispy shrimp tempura was ready and packed. Thank you for the service. The bowl looks small but in this case, the bowl is very filling! For this review, the sauce or something in the poke bowl overwhelmed all the other ingredients in the bowl and my taste buds that I couldn't taste anything else. In the past, I been here and they give good portions and the sauce isn't overpowering. Have to try again with another item hopefully.
This place is really bad. First off, I found a rubber gasket the size of a nickel in my food. It was the same color as the ginger, but I don't understand how it got in there. Second, the rice was clumpy and stale -- which makes sense because the location was empty when I got there and had no foot traffic. There likely isn't much turnover at this location.

The ingredients look pretty fresh and tastes great...today was my first visit here, in fact I am still eating as I type this. Funny thing, I kept seeing the signage when I pass by during my breakfast run in the Atrium but never had a chance to try it. First thoughts since I am still chewing away...brown rice was a good choice (I eat too much white rice as it is). And the imitation crab is a great compliment to my salmon and ahi tuna selection. The ingredients and toppings I chose for my custom bowl was random and selected by visuals were the red onion, scallions, pumpkin seeds, garlic crisps (so good!), corn, avocado, roe, and the hijiki seaweed. I also asked for two sauces - the Hullabaloo Ponzu and the Sesame. Perfect combo as both are citrus based. I love citrus w/ my salmon and tuna. Complimentary all around. I dipped a few bites to sample the Hokey Aioli - it's a spicy pepper mayo. The taste was good but personally, I think it may cover up some of the shellfish's natural flavors. I love sushi in its purest form so when I eat it, I don't want to use too much soy or wasabi to hinder the taste. Am totally a fan...will be excited to try some of the other sauces or vinaigrettes. And I didn't use any fruit ingredients this time, which I probably should've. Will try next visit.
The owner here, Shai (sp?), is really nice and friendly! If you get unlucky and have people who don't know what poké is standing before you, you're in for a wait. What I like about this place is the sheer amount of toppings they put on the bowl! I usually order a build my own and add a mix of sesame ponzu / hokey poke sauce to lighten up the mayo. My only sadness is that every time I come, the lotus chips are always out. This spot definitely is one of the better options with a shorter wait, nice public atrium to enjoy your food by the waterfall, and typically enjoy a piano performance while you're eating! I've already told a few friends about this place and they all love it! Looking forward to coming back again in a couple days :)
Meh, I had high hopes from the Yelp reviews, but based on my experience, I'd say otherwise. I got the Smokey Hokey bowl which came with salmon, onion, cabbage, seaweed salad, crab salad, masago, and cashews. My first bite is always the rice (my theory is that if you could mess up the rice, everything else probably isn't good). To my surprise the rice was soggy, lumpy and sticking together. Not only was the rice cooked poorly, the salmon was literally cooked half way due to it sitting on the hot rice. I'm also not sure how I feel about cashews in a poke bowl either- something about the smokiness and nutty flavor doesn't resonate with poke.

Hokey Poke is a new spot that opened up in midtown. It can be easy to miss as it is located in a public atrium. You have a wide variety of choices for your base, ranging from different types of rice to salad to even noodles! You can mix and match your main dish. I got a mix of the salmon and ahi tuna. Both were super fresh! I'm normally more of a salmon fan but I think the ahi tuna might have won my heart this time. It just melts in your mouth. They offer so many mix-ins and toppings so you can create your perfect pokebowl. There are no seats directly inside this establishment, but there is plenty of seating in the atrium for you to enjoy your meal. If you go at the right time, you may even find a live pianist playing soothing melodies!

Ordered poke for lunch! It's really fresh and I do like the creating my own bowl. It contains 2 proteins and many different add on. The portion size is decent, not too big or small but the ingredients' freshness is definitely the highlight. I added extra avo, which came out to be a huge scoop! Would come back again!
My first time experience using ritual app to order my lunch. Piggybacked my colleague's order and ordered Smokey hokey bowl with some additional toppings. The salmon and tuna were pretty fresh and nicely packed with other ingredients. When we went there to pick up the order, the staff probably missed my order as I selected to piggyback my colleague's order so the owner (I believe) apologized and asked me to tell the staff any additional toppings I want to add without charging me, that was a very nice offer although I had already added the extra topping and did not want to waste food. The owner also told us that if we order online for the first time , we will get discounts. Pretty satisfied with the service and the poke. Will come back again!
Ordered the Paradise Island via Mealpal. Good low carb option as it doesn't contain rice, but if you need a hearty meal, this isn't it as the portion was small. But if you're trying to eat healthy and lift, this is a good choice. FYI, this is in the basement level of the building and is not visible from the street or the lobby.

So happy I grabbed lunch at one of favorite lunch spots last Thursday!! I always crave my favorite poke bowl, Smokey Hokey!! Gonna try and run out at least once a month to grab lunch from here!! I'm not impressed. Someone recommended this spot to me to decided to order for delivery. I paid about $17 for this bowl, $25 total because of Grubhub fees. It was half empty, not much tuna, and very bland tasting even though I chose 3 sauces. Waste of money, Won't be ordering from here again. read more

Salmon and tuna poke are fresh, vibrant and succulent. HP has 3 types of seaweed (seaweed, hijiki and wakame), salmon furikake and togarashi. I know because I had to google all the differences. As a poke and "grain" fanatic- HP just does it for me. Along with about 20 veggie varietals, 4-5 options of proteins, crunch topping, fiber greens, nuts and berries with 10 unique dressings all their own, there is something for even the pickiest consumer. The service is excellent and attentive as there was a mix up with my order that was addressed with genuine apology and a speedy turn around. read more

Came into this area for the urge for a salad or some falafels. Something healthy is always good after a night of junkfood, right? Poke seemed like the middle line of healthy and I went and bought the smokey hokey signature bowl. Overall I thought the ingredients went well together. Salmon and cashews oddly go okay together. I didn't quite taste the smokiness that the sauce promised. Would come here again to try their other recipes. read more

I ordered the Aloha Bowl. The man running the register told me that they added extra stuff into it. I thought he said crab and noodles. There are definitely zucchini noodles and what looks like imitation crab(yuk). Here's a quick rundown of what else is supposed to be in it that is not. Edamame, pickled daikon, corn, cucumber, ponzu, and pumpkin seeds. Those are the things that I can see are not there. As for any spices they claim, I can't verify, but overall it's pretty bland and looks nothing like the other photos on here. Disclaimer: I used MealPal for this order. It was the first time using the app, so I'm not sure if this is normal, but the review is for the experience with the restaurant and the food I received. I can say that if part of signing up for a program like MealPal is to attract new customers, this has failed miserably. read more

My new favorite go to poke shop in Midtown East. This build your own poke reminds me of living in Hawaii during my childhood. Actually, the ingredients remind me of my childhood. There are my usual favorites which are salmon and tuna. You can have it either on white or brown rice but if you're boring, salad is an option too. I do recommend it getting it as basic as possible. Meaning don't get all fancy. Get the basic soy sauce or ponzu sauce. Top it off with seaweed salad and ginger. Call it a day. Would definitely be back to try out the other types of proteins. read more

The quality is usually really great and I've gotten both their classics, Aloha and Glazed Kolomona (pictured), and built my own bowl. Really liked the garlic crisps and quinoa mix! Knocked off a star because they messed up my order today when I ordered online and didn't add in the seaweed salad and masago! Would recommend ordering physically. One of my new favorite work lunch spots! Its discreetly located in the basement of the building also shared by Gyu-Kaku in Midtown. From the main building entrance, you take the escalator on the left downstairs and make a right and you'll see Hokey Poke right in front. My one pet peeve with poke spots is when they do not mix or "marinade" your protein selection (salmon, tuna, tofu, chicken, shrimp) with the sauce offerings for you prior to adding it over your base (white rice, brown rice, zucchini noodles, kale, etc.) Hokey Poke does a GREAT job at doing this. I think when they do this it makes the protein taste better and keeps the rice base from getting drenched or soggy. All the protein, bases and toppings are very fresh and don't be afraid to ask for a mix of two bases either! I personally like brown rice with the zucchini noodles. Many places won't offer the zoodles because zucchinis will release a lot of liquid when it sits for too long. Make sure to check in for a free can of Hawaiian Sun! read more
Poke has become really trendy over the past year with lots of new locations debuted recently, so I'm not too surprised to find out this tiny bar squeezed secretly inside the food hall downstairs near my office (with the help of my friend, who is a big fan of poke). Easy to build your own bowl and I do recommend doing that as it will give you lots of flexibilities. Loved that they have zoodles option for base, aside from the regular rice or greens. Slightly on the pricier side, as the bowl was kind of small. read more

This is the poke place with my favorite brown rice. The brown rice is cooked perfectly. It's chewier and grainier that most of the brown rice I had. Though it doesn't taste like the regular rice, it is good. I had Aloha bowl. The fish to rice ratio is good. I had some pieces fish left when I finished my rice. The overall portion is a little bit small. Still feel hungry after. But I really like the brown rice. Looking forward to visiting soon. read more
Overall I thought Hokey Poke was okay. I placed my order online and set it up for pick up. My only constructive feedback here is that they should allow an option for you to double up on a topping if you choose to do so. Ex. 2x Ahi tuna instead of having to do tuna and salmon. Overall an easy ordering experience. The shop itself was great. The aesthetics were modern and there was no line when i got there at 11:50am, surprising for a midtown shop. Overall the place looked great! The food itself was delicious. I went with the zoodles (zucchini noodles) as a base with the ahi tuna and salmon as the main proteins. I added all the mix in and crunches as well. For the sauce I did spicy ginger vinaigrette. Overall the poke bowl itself was delicious! The zoodles were delightful and surprisingly tasty when mixed with all the other ingredients. The reason I didn't give a higher rating was due to the protein. The Ahi tuna and salmon did not taste as fresh and the portion were tiny compared to a lot of other poke spots I have tried. Overall great experience, i would definitely come back for a quick lunch. I hope next time they pack a little more tuna/salmon into my bowl. That would make the perfect meal. Pro Tip: If you are staying low on carbs for the summer, i highly recommend the zoodles! It is as if the lunch gods have answered my prayers. I am SOOOO happy this place opened up right across the street from my office. I could get this everyday and be happy. It's reasonably priced, delicious and healthy! I love that their bases aren't just the typical rice or kale salad. They have quinoa and zoodle bases too! #weddingdieting I love to build my own bowl so i KNOW it will be delicious. I loveeee the huge variety of toppings, and sauces and condiments they have too. So legit. I definitely recommend but come early or late because although the line moves fast, it gets pretty long (because this place is amazing). read more

AMAZING. Best poke bowl I've had in NYC. The fish is extremely fresh, the free add-on options are plentiful, and the servings are very generous! Such a filling and healthy lunch, I might be eating here 2-3 times a week! Also, the staff is incredibly nice; their friendly attitude and service actually reminded me of being in Hawaii! I just ordered a custom bowl and am very impressed! Half quinoa seed/half zoodles with ahi tuna, salmon and all of the delicious toppings. Extremely fresh ingredients, generous portions, and lots of options! I will definitely be back, and that's coming from someone who rarely buys lunch. read more
