Spicy Shio Ramrn with extra pork
    Jann B.

Came in on a weekend evening for dinner. Parking was easy. Decided to try out the Spicy Shio ramen which was one of their specials. Im glad I did, I really loved the broth, I find it better than their usual broths. Staff were kind. It was easy to get seating when I visited despite the foodcourt being smaller than the other Mitsuwas I've been to.

Santouka Ramen is a chain of ramen stores that can often be found at food courts at Mitsuwa Marketplace. The newest Mitsuwa and Santouka recently opened in Cypress and it's definitely nice to have in the area. Ramen with pork cheek chashu (toroniku) costs $17 for a medium sized bowl. $1 more for large and $1 less for medium. I do like Santouka Ramen and their locations have been around for a long time. My toroniku ramen came with the meat/veg served on the side and, I'm told that it was to preserve the quality/marbling of the meat. I can appreciate this; however, it wasn't the experience and bowl that I was used to getting from their locations and the flavor/textural experience was a little different than I was used to. Anyhow - I'm glad that I can get their ramen locally at the Mitsuwa food court in Cypress and I'll likely be back to update my review after I have a few repeat visits.

It is located inside the new Mitsuwa in Cypress. I ordered a small salt ramen for take out. Once piece of meat only. They gave me very very little soup. It was tasty but the portion is crazy small for $16. Easy to find parking.

I've been a fan of Ramen Santouka for years, and I'm glad this location opened with the new Mitsuwa Market. I waited a few weeks after their grand opening for the crowds to die down. My recent visit was after the lunch rush, so ordering was quick, and plenty of seating was available for dine-in. I ordered one of my favorites, the small soy sauce broth with extra char siu. The ramen was satisfying and consistent with other locations. I also enjoy the toroniku ramens with the pork cheek. The noodles are thin and cooked nicely with a good chew. The seasoned egg is hard-boiled and is also a nice addition, different from the runny egg style. I appreciate the three bowl sizes, and the small is perfect for my appetite. I'll order from the combo options if I'm feeling hungrier. Prices are reasonable. Cold drinks are also available, but no self-serve water at this location. The staff is kind and prepared my order promptly. The dining area is spacious but will be challenging during peak dining hours. I'll be back when craving ramen again.

Long lines for the grand opening.

Arrived during the grand opening week of the Mitsuwa Market on a Sunday. I entered the store and admired the modern Japanese decor. The food court is located in the circular atrium along with several other Japanese eateries. The line to order was long and locating a table at the community dining area was challenging, but I was fortunate to secure seating. There's dedicated staff picking up after customers and cleaning the tables which is good since the tables and counters were at capacity. I ordered the combo of miso chashu ramen and a chashu rice bowl. The ramen broth was hot, flavorful, chashu tender, and the noodles were cooked perfectly. I was underwhelmed with the chashu rice bowl which lacked flavor and the pork was dry. Hopefully this is due to being new and they'll resolve this. I prefer this location since it's closer than their other locations in the south bay or the O.C. I would return here when I'm in need of a ramen fix.

When heading to Mitsuwa, it feels wrong to not stop by Santouka for some ramen, and that's why when I found out that the Cypress Mitsuwa location opened, I was on a ramen mission. What I like about Santouka is the 3 different sizes of ramen and the various broths offered. They are also pretty quick with getting your order ready - less than 10 minute wait for us. What's not so great about this particular location is that they do charge you extra for to go orders and if you ask for take out containers for leftover food. I would have thought they would have built this in the pricing, considering I feel like their ramen is a little more expensive compared to my favorite spots. I did also find that the ramen was a bit saltier and greasier than what I'm used to. The flies are a huge problem, and I can see why it would deter someone else from coming back. I hope the management at Mitsuwa can work together with the food court restaurants to handle the issue.

I've been to many ramen places over the years and Santouka has always been in my Top 10 as it has maintained their delicious tasty broth that keeps drawing me back. There are 3 sizes to choose from and I went with a small size miso ramen for my first time at this location. The broth was slightly thicker and a bit saltier than normal but it was delicious. The noodles are thin but cooked perfectly to have that al dente chew to it. The char siu is so soft and just melts in your mouth. The bamboo and mushrooms just soak up that beautiful broth. Next time I'll get more pieces of that pork. The service was pretty quick as I went when the store wasn't too crowded. The place is located inside Mitsuwa food court just like a couple of the other locations. It is located next door to 24 hr. Fitness so parking can fill up at peak times. As a couple others have mentioned, there was a couple pesky flies when I was eating. Please figure this out and get rid of them.

They accept cards!! Located near the entrance of the grocery store. The grocery store is located towards the back of the store. I opted for the Miso ramen. The ramen came out fast and piping hot. The service here was great, the staff took time explaining the menu and the combos they offer. The menu is visible to the left of the register as well as displayed at the register. They don't offer complimentary water so all beverages are à la cart.

Large size spicy miso ramen with mini Chashu rice bowl.

There are several Hokkaido Ramen Santouka places in Southern California. They are usually located at food courts of Mitsuwa Market places, and I used to go to the one in Costa Mesa location. This time, I went to Cypress location, because it is much closer from my home. Today, I ordered large size spicy miso ramen with mini chashu rice bowl combo. It costed me more than $26. In my opinion, their pricing on the menu is very expensive considering this is fully self-serve food court. This location doesn't even provide self serve water station that Costa Mesa location does, so you have to purchase your own water from somewhere else. If you want to grab to go container for your left over, they even charge you extra for that. I don't know who the management is, but I feel they are very stingy in customer service. Overall the food wasn't that good either when I compare to Costa Mesa location. The broth of the ramen was very strong and salty in my taste. Chashu pieces on my ramen smelled gamey. The boiled egg was too dry to eat. I think I chose wrong location of Santouka Ramen, and I will never return to this location.

I've been here a couple times after my first review and no more flies in the food court dining area!!! The ramen is now top tier for sure and I don't have to drive to Costa Mesa or Torrance to get my Santouka fix!

F-Combo: Shio Ramen with Mentaiko Bowl
    Marc P.

Came in today for a bowl of Santouka Ramen and it hit the spot. The broth was solid and tasted consistent with what I've had at other Santouka locations--rich, comforting, and exactly what you expect if you're familiar with their ramen. That consistency is honestly one of the reasons I keep coming back. I also ordered the mentaiko rice bowl. Flavor-wise it was still good, but the portion felt a bit smaller than I remember from previous visits. Not a deal breaker, just something I noticed. The restaurant wasn't busy at all during my visit, so food came out quickly, which was a plus. The dining area and tables looked clean, and I didn't experience any issues others have mentioned--definitely no flies while I was there. Overall, still a good experience and a reliable stop when you're craving Santouka ramen.

    Large Char Siu Salt Ramen!

Met up with some friends at the Mitsuwa Marketplace and had to try Hokkaido Ramen. Options for Ramen were overwhelming but decided on a large Char Siu Salt Ramen. It was amazing! Generous portions of pork and rich salty broth. Would definitely get this again. Looking forward to my next visit and trying something new.

Try yummy salmon bowl with roe. I got this because all their ramens have sesame inside it. It would be nice to see at least one ramen option that had no sesame option so that I can have more options. But the line wasn't too bad and I was able to find a seat to sit down and eat. I would come back again for this bowl

We started with the shishito peppers and takoyaki, and the takoyaki was easily some of the best we've had. It came out piping hot, perfectly crispy on the outside, and soft and fluffy inside. Since it was such a hot day, we ordered the Hiyashi Chuka (chilled ramen) and the Oroshi Soba Combo with grated radish and tempura. Both were super refreshing and exactly what we were craving. The Hiyashi Chuka had a great balance of flavors with fresh toppings, and the soba was light, chewy, and paired really well with the crispy tempura. The hot tea was a nice touch, and everyone working there was friendly and welcoming. We also loved how extensive the menu is. I really love their white miso tsukemen, the thick noodles are slightly chilled and served with a wedge of lime which is a nice way to lighten the very rich broth. I've had their red miso before but its deeper flavor is a bit too powerful for my taste, so for those who like something with more umph, that's a great choice as well.
