Ample parking- low key ambiance, not loud inside, plus!! Extremely professional demeanor from waitress and host. The chefs or chef.. absolutely phenomenal!! Some of the best sushi.. on my sushi list. Up there in my top 3! The batter for the vegetable tempura was perfectly fried.. with a softness to each veggie inside. Thw crab salad.. no words- gotta try. The spice complimented the salad. The New Ca roll, the Tuna Lava, the Johnny- or something like that- was mouth watering! Ended w some hot saki to end the meal.. just right! A must try location off of Folsom and Blue Ravine..thanks for the delicious meal and wonderful service.

We tried this restaurant back in November 2024 when it was just opened. We visited on Sunday noon for lunch and were seated immediately. - bento A (chicken teriyaki, gyoza & avocado roll): the chicken teriyaki was tender and good portion. The gyoza pieces were good and tasty. The rolls were good too. The salad was good. - california roll: my kid loved it and ate all the pieces. - shrimp tempura roll: the tempura was crunchy and good - spicy salmon roll: the filling was very generous. The roll had good spiciness level.

I travel a lot and eat sushi all over. Fortunately my favorite is back home for several reasons (I'm getting somewhere). It's always fresh and flavorful one of the best sushi places in the country. It's simple fish in Grand Rapids mi. That all being said I always compare sushi to this high bar. There is seldom a place I would put anywhere near it. However this place is possibly better. It is so good my recommendation is try 21 it's so different and amazing. Followed that with 14, 1 then a 34

The food was fine. Service was ok. We got our food and the waitress never came back. They weren't busy, we were the only table in the restaurant, then at the end another table sat down. My family left since we have a young toddler and I was hoping to pay the bill and get a to go box but it took 10+ min before I just went to the register myself. First and last time for me, I think service should be better

Yummy food! Service was great! Food came out fast! We always get a teriyaki chicken bento for the kids when we go to restaurants like these. I love that the chicken was already bite size so we didn't have to cut them up for the kids!

King's Roll without Unagi or Unagi sauce

I'll start with the good, the waiter was very friendly. My son got the kids bento box and he loved it. He chose the teriyaki chicken and it came with rice, fries and a few pieces of fruit (says fruit salad on menu). I ordered the spicy garlic edamame and the King's Roll. The spicy garlic edamame had good flavor but it was overcooked and the edamame was mushy. I ordered the King's Roll without Unagi or Unagi sauce. The roll was supposed to have seared tuna, masago and green onions but I got none of that. I didn't like how some pieces of the roll had avocado and the other had tuna but none had both. The quality of the sushi was poor, pretty basic. Tasted like the sushi you would get at a restaurant that has half off sushi rolls.

We've been back for a fourth time now. The girls love it. The youngest requested it for her first teenage birthday. She said "best birthday ever!". Each time we go, we try new rolls. Our latest delicioudiscovery was the Arigato roll (#5). Yum! We also tried the great deep fried hamachi. That was great. Folsom Roll was good too. Still love it!

Out with the fam trying to get our sushi fix while in the area. The place is small but clean and well decorated. We were seated right away. Our server was very nice and patiently waited for us to make up our minds. We chose the Hamachi Lava, rainbow roll and rock 'n roll rolls. The food tasted fresh and the presentation was good. I would definitely go back when in town. Thanks Hokkaido!

My family had the pleasure of dining at Hokkaido Sushi in Folsom; and it was hands down one of the best Japanese meals we have had in the area! we had the sushi platter, and the fish was incredibly fresh--it literally melted in my mouth. The tempura was crispy and light, not greasy at all. The restaurant itself had a cozy vibe, and the staff was super friendly, offering great sake pairings. If you are a fan of authentic Japanese food, you have got to check this place out. We will definitely be back!!

First time here, service was great - friendly staff. Sushi roll is delicious, I'm really impressed with the decorations on the plate. the taco sushi was great than the other place that we've been to. The ambiance is nice and clean. Overall A+ for this place and will be back.

Welcome to the neighborhood! We live right around the corner and were so excited to see a sushi spot opened just minutes away, so we decided why not try Hokkaido instead of one of our regular spots tonight. The place was completely empty when I walked in. We were seated, given menus and waters, and then ordered all under 5 minutes. Throughout the visit, we did feel monitored because we were the only table there, but that makes for attentive service . We were in and out of the restaurant in less than half an hour! We ordered two rolls and one order of nigiri. Their fish quality is solid and their rolls were pretty yummy. While being full sized, the rolls are a little skimpy on toppings and smaller than what I am used to. Their nigiri has a good fish:rice ratio and the white tuna was very tasty. I also liked how their rolls aren't covered in sauce. Prices are also comparatively lower than other sushi spots around the area. They also have quite a few specials running for a limited time! The inside of the restaurant is small and fairly quiet, and I'd probably choose take-out over dining in next time. Overall, it's pretty good, close to home, and convenient!

    Pink lady

We were in the area and decided to check out this place that seems to have opened just recently. It looks nice inside, really clean, and has tall ceilings. The prices are beyond fair. We got hamachi kama (yum!), pink lady, eel roll and taco. Every plate was beautifully decorated and really delicious! The service was amazing. Will come again!

The salmon roll is pink lady. The taco is unagi taco. The eel roll is domo arigato roll. The fish is hamachi kama

The food was amazing and they treated us very well. It's a great spot and the interior is beautiful. Will definitely be back!

Of note, we visited Japan earlier this year, so eating here reminded us of all the good food we'd had in Japan and brought back memories of so many amazing restaurants! First, since it is in the outdoor mall, parking is not an issue. When we entered, the staff was quick, courteous and seated us immediately. You have the options of table seating, picnic table style seating or counter seating but no views. We were seated at the picnic style table. We ordered the Asahi draft, premium sake flight (kikusui, yaegaki mu, demon slayer), kara-miso ramen and a pork katsu don. The service was the quickest we have had in a while! They also have an offer running right now - 50% off draft beers with the ramen/rice bowls/katsu sets. While each of the sake glasses (300 ml) was priced at $20-25, the premium flight was $14 and I got to taste the 3 top junmais they had - junmai, junmai ginjo, junmai daiginjo. That is an unbeatable deal because I'm pretty sure it came to 1.5 glasses of sake in total for 60% of the price. Food-wise, both portions were large and absolutely top notch! The donburi was mild and the katsu was made perfectly - light, crispy, pork shining through. The kara-miso ramen is their spicy option and it was definitely spicy! The noodles were great, as was the pork and the eggs in it. We couldn't finish everything so took some home. Pricing wise, it is reasonable - we paid $71 for everything and had the time of our foodie lives. The staff is so friendly! All in all, we were so happy to have found this place and will definitely come back to eat more :)

Sometimes it was hard to find him as he escaped into the inside deep into the kitchen. The first thing you notice when you walk in is how hot it is. They turned off the A/C (in sacramento weather! can you imagine?). The doors are all shut, with all the kitchen machinery and boilers and ovens running. The air stayed still and hot. Eventually I asked for the single staff, can I open the front door? He said yes. I opened it and finally, some fresh air! When we tried to order, they had fancy names for each ramen, but underneath it's really just the usual miso vs shoyu. The only difference is the single staff put in a LOT of garlic, like a lot. Taste is so-so The renovation is really nice though, and the tables/chairs are kept clean. Staff is ok friendly. Gave us utensils etc. Sometimes hard to find. We started with a large hot sake and six pieces of gyoza, asking our server to hold the entrées until we finished. The sake hit the spot and paired nicely with the gyoza. The gyoza tasted good but was just a bit harder than we'd like. For the main meal, I ordered a bento box with nigiri sushi and tempura, while the others chose a salmon teriyaki bento box and a Spicy Yellowtail Roll. My nigiri tasted fresh and nicely prepared. I also tried a piece of the Spicy Yellowtail Roll and found it to have a nice flavor profile. The salmon teriyaki was clean and sweet, with a natural salmon flavor, and was tender and juicy. The portions were generous, making for a satisfying meal, and everyone enjoyed their food, although my companions thought the tempura was a bit too oily. Despite the slightly firm gyoza and oily tempura, the good sake, generous portions, and relaxed atmosphere made for a very enjoyable lunch. The highlight for me was sipping the remaining sake and enjoying the nigiri.

Taste is subjective, and what one person finds delicious, another may not. However, there are certain universal aspects of dining, such as customer service, cleanliness, communication, and overall hospitality, that every restaurant should strive to deliver. My reviews reflect the complete experience, not just what's on the plate. We decided to try Hasu Teriyaki & Sushi in Folsom for the first time and brought the kids along. Unfortunately, the experience got off to a rough start. When we walked in, there were several open tables, but no one greeted us or explained whether we should seat ourselves or wait to be seated. A female employee saw us but didn't provide any direction, so we picked a table ourselves. After waiting for a bit with no acknowledgment, I had to get up and grab menus on my own. We spent about eight minutes deciding what to order (never easy with kids), but still no one came by. After another several minutes, I finally walked the few feet to the register and asked, "Are we supposed to order here or at the table?" The response was simply, "Yes, order here." After placing my order, I was immediately prompted to add a tip before receiving any service, which is something I personally find frustrating. Then I grabbed our cups to fill our drinks myself, only to find the ice machine was out of ice. At that point, it felt like we were striking out on every opportunity for a good first impression. It appears there's only one employee handling both the register and the dining area, which may explain some of the confusion. If that's the system, it would really help to have a sign letting customers know to seat themselves and order at the counter. There are only about seven tables inside, but without any guidance, the dining experience is confusing for first-time visitors. Once the food arrived, it was presented nicely. I ordered the Rainbow Roll and Dragon Roll, and visually they looked great. Unfortunately, I found the flavors to be underwhelming. The sushi was very mild, and even the wasabi had almost no heat. I added far more wasabi than I normally would, yet it barely had any kick. For someone who really enjoys sushi, the overall flavor just didn't stand out. The kids' non-raw rolls were also just average. To her credit, the employee did check on us twice after the food arrived, and she was friendly. I think she recognized that I was frustrated after spending roughly 15 minutes in the restaurant without any acknowledgment or explanation of how ordering worked. Overall, the experience wasn't terrible, but it wasn't one that makes me eager to return. Between the confusing service, lackluster first impression, and sushi that was simply average, I'd probably look elsewhere next time.

There's just…read moresomething so so soothing and satisfying about this cuisine and something so communal and fun that I just can't get enough. When considering a hot pot restaurant, I think you have to look at two things the broth choices, and the selection of the signature proteins. A lot of places will try to convince you that you need to upgrade to the premium level to get access to the best of the best, but I am more appreciate places like this one that offer a ton at the low and medium level with only a few really choice select things added to the premium level Making the decision pretty easy. We opted for the mid tier which included several cuts of beef, lamb, pork chicken, as well as a lot of fun, add-ins, like fish balls, and tofu, skin, chrysanthemum greens, and more. For broth, I went with the Sichuan spicy medium heat level and frankly I probably could've dialed it up a little bit. As the broth evaporated did get hotter and hotter like it's supposed to and I did have a couple of reactions to the heat as it hit my sinuses, but other than that, it was deliciously tolerable. Now, while we upgraded to the midtier, my favorite cut of meat had to have been the spicy beef and the green chili chicken. Both of these had house marinades or dry seasonings on them that made the meat delicious and added it to the broth as well. But above all that the real shining star here has to be the service. The server was ever present in the most appropriate way possible quick to take an order, and the kitchen was even quicker to get that order to us. The restaurant was completely clean and we were never wanting for more than literally a second. I highly recommend this restaurant if you're in the area if you live in the area and you haven't been, you are seriously missing out. Edamame: Soybeans with Choice of Regular (Plain), Freaky (Seriously Seasoned) or Garlicky (garlic, lemon, cilantro, butter). We chose the Freaky, which was the edamame was tossed in a garlic and shichimi togarashi. So, it had a slight spice to it. They were really tasty. Beef Teriyaki: Stir fried beef and onion in teriyaki sauce with sesame seed. The beef was a bit chewy. Spicy Tuna Handroll: Spicy tuna, cucumber, sesame seeds. Unfortunately, my friend took one bite and didn't like the taste or freshness of the HR. Incredible Roll: Spicy tuna, panko shrimp, tuna, white tuna, avocado, sauce, torched, masago, onions. Tommy Roll: Panko fried soft shell crab, spicy avocado blend, onion, masago, soy wrap, spicy tuna, crab mix, Spicy Dream sauces. Train Wreck Roll: Chopped eel, seared tuna, avocado, crab mix, panko shrimp, spicy sauce, sesame seeds, onions. Fair Oaks Roll: Panko shrimp, avocado, sauce, masago, onions. All the rolls were tasty and enjoyable but they weren't "OMG tasty". My friends who had eaten here before thought the food was better before. The restaurant was crowded, so...you decide.

I was taking care of some business over at Golden 1, I saw this place, I love Bento so I decided to…read morestop for lunch. It's a very nice place, nothing fancy, the people were very friendly They had a very large menu of all kinds of different items, I decided to go for a bento. The spicier items on the menu have a listing next to the item ranging from one to three peppers. I decided to try the honey chicken. It had one pepper next to it on the menu. I asked my server how spicy it was, and he said not very spicy. He was right. It was a wonderful barbecue chicken, the chicken was tender, juicy, and flavorful. The honey gave it just a little bit of a sweet, without overpowering it. The sauce that came on the side with the chicken, I put a little bit on top, and it really added to the flavor. It had just a tiny bit of a "kick" to it, well within what I like for spicy. The sweet of the honey sauce, and the spicy played absolutely wonderful together. The rice was nice and tender. , I mixed some of it into the chicken, and it was a very nice bite. The veggies and the salad were very fresh, I'm not sure what the dressing was on the salad, but it was a bit creamy, and it was delicious. I had enough food left over for a second meal. The price was very reasonable, especially since I got two meals out of it. I want to come back and try more items. Thank you.

So my wife and I decided to venture out and try something new instead of Door Dashing our food. So…read morewe drove to E Bidwell to try something new and we are so glad we did. The reason why I am giving this place a 5 Star is because from the time we walked into the Business until we left, its been a very great experience. We walked in and we were very warmly greeted and then we were then taken to our table where we sat down and from the time we sat down the ambiance was very nice and the decorations inside were just as beautiful. So after 5 minutes we got waited on and we were asked on what drinks we wanted and my wife and I ordered a Dr Pepper. Being that there was so much on the menu to order we kept asking our Waiter to please keep checking on us because we werent 100% sure as to what we wanted. Well after about 10 minutes we finally realized that we knew what we wanted to eat. We first started off with Appetizers and we ordered the Mushroom Bomb and Crab Wonton's. We put that order in and then about 5 minutes later the waiter came back and aksed what we wanted to eat. We both decided on getting the California Roll and The Rookie Sushi Roll. We both began talking and just enjoying the environment and let me tell you I have seen Restaurant Employees work as a team but the people at this place were completely in unison every time. You could tell that they all had camaraderie amongst them because they interacted very well with each other. The 2 people that I want to recognize because they both took great care of us was Seven and Bella. When Seven was off taking care of other guests, Bella would be right there working side by side making sure that the guests in their section were taken care of. The California Roll came out and so did The Rookie and let me tell you when I eat Sushi, I have to have my Soy Sauce and my Chopsticks, thats the only way to eat that. The California Roll was absolutely delicious and for the first time ever eating a Teriyaki Chicken Sushi Roll, was delicious as well. From the beginning to the end everything was wonderful. I'm so excited about this place that I am going to bring my "Lunch Group" here the next time we meet so they can enjoy Bento Box just as much as my wife and I did.
