It's been a while since we've been here. But since we were in the area, we figured we come back. The interior is very spacious and bright with a few tables to dine indoors as well as a few tables to dine outside which is what we ended up doing since it was nice out. We were hoping to get the poke nachos but we're told they didn't have wonton chips but would be able to sub with tortilla chips. We opted out since it wouldn't be the same. Instead we got regular bowls. My bowl was a bit on the drier side but nonetheless still good. Definitely recommend trying and getting the cream cheese bites! read more

This poke place is probably my go-to poke spot in Folsom. The other places seem to price gouge and give less than here. The poke bowls here are still quite expensive $25 for a 5 scoops of protein (large) but i guess it is still better portioned than the other over priced spots. read more

I was in the area and when I saw Fishology Poke Bar I immediately knew what I wanted for lunch. Poke is one of my favorite foods and always a treat when I can find a good spot. The Yelp ratings were good too, so I was excited. The shop is small, but has seating for dine in and is quick service where you order and choose your toppings and add ins at the counter (like most poke places). They also had a cold case with drinks, crab salad and seaweed salad available. I opted for the Regular Poke Bowl ($18) with 2 scoops of spicy tuna and 1 scoop of salmon. The scoops seemed generous compared to some places I've been. The free toppings are red onion, ginger, seaweed and wasabi- I got a bit of all of them and it was interesting that they mixed them all into the poke with my choices of sauce. Typically ginger and wasabi are more side items. I chose spicy mayo, and sweet and spicy unagi sauce and they mixed everything up and put it on top of a 1/2 salad, 1/2 brown rice base. Their additional toppings are listed as $1 each and there's a variety including those I typically see as upgrades (seaweed salad and crab salad) and some that I thought were weird as $1 upgrades (Furikake, sesame seeds, cilantro, jalapenos, etc.) It definitely encourages customers to keep it simple. I opted to add the crab salad and seaweed salad ($1/each) because I really enjoy them with my poke and they did add what seemed to be a generous amount. Pretty decent poke spot. Servings are worth the price. My boyfriend really wanted me to try this location due to their pesto cilantro sauce but they were out of stock when we tried it out lol. We each got the regular bowl with three scoops of fish and white rice. There's lots of different toppings and sauces to choose from. Sauces are unique to this location - haven't seen the sauces at other standard poke restaurants such as a sesame sauce, unagi sauce, etc. They also have a cream cheese topping that is very yummy and unique. Haven't seen that as a topping since I moved here from OC. Lots of seating outside, good amount of seats inside. Nice and clean indoors and friendly staff. read more

We ended up here for unplanned dinner but I was pleasantly surprised by our meal. The portion was a bit small for the price but overall I thought it was better quality than some other places I've tried. We were greeted upon entering and they were ready to serve us. Everything is listed out on the menu above but I like actually seeing the ingredients, which you can see but nothing is labeled so I was constantly looking up at the screen and down at the counter. Otherwise it's pretty straightforward and similar ordering style to other build your own poke bowl places. Everything tasted very fresh and I loved that they had some things that aren't commonly at other places like the lemon wedges, cream cheese bites, and togarashi. I was not a fan of the crab salad though, it had more of a tuna salad texture which I wasn't a fan of. Would definitely consider eating here again if I was in this shopping center! It's not an everyday kind of place though since our total came out to $40 for two poke bowls and a side of rice (which was $4 and I thought that was really unnecessary considering you can buy a small bag under $10). Poke is always a light and healthy meal, so I wanted to check this little place out. Couple tables for seating. First off, it's $20 for the "large" size bowl, which is a decent size but still steep. The average person could finish it when hungry. The main issue I saw with this place - there was only a single staff up front making the poke bowls. No water/drink machine, just drinks for purchase. No soy sauce container provided either? If you want to ask the worker something, you'll have to wait a while while he finishes the bowl of the customer ordering or a door dash order. They need at least 2 people up front handling things. Quality wise the poke was pretty good, with a good selection of protein and toppings (otherwise I'd have dropped 2 stars). I've only ordered through them through DoorDash and I've always been happy with everything! The tempura shrimp is my favorite, which is a little strange since this is a poke place. But the tempura is perfectly battered and is perfectly. Crispy but light and doesn't taste super fried or oily. The poke nachos is my go to order. The wonton chips are fried perfectly. And the toppings are the perfect amount. Not too little but also not too much to the point where it makes the chops soggy. The sushi bake is good as well. I recently moved up from the Bay Area where there is poke everywhere and my husband and I were on the hunt for some good poke around Folsom. We happened across this place and were VERY happy. The prices are reasonable and the service is great. Parking is easy and there is some outdoor seating around the entire shopping plaza. I got a regular bowl, half brown rice, half salad with salmon, ahi tuna, and octopus. I then got pretty much every topping possible that was free and boy was there a lot! Came out to this try this Poke place and it was quite an interesting experience. Located out in Folsom, CA. I love poke plain and simple, my weekly diet consists of poke at least two times a week or 3 max. So, I was very interested in checking this place out when I had come across them on Yelp. One day on lunch, I made the bold decision to make the drive from Sunrise Blvd to East Bidwell St with only 45 minutes to spare. Took me almost 15 minutes to get there, located in a shopping center with several other stores and eateries. Upon walking in, I was greeted by two young ladies and they were really nice. On to the Poke Bar: Base: I always stick with white rice and this location does have wonton chips as well! So that was a bonus for me too! Proteins: I was very impressed by the quality of the fish here. They have a very good selection of fish and you can tell that it is extremely fresh. What stood out to me the most was their, "Spicy Tuna". This was the first poke bar I had went into where the spicy tuna wasn't minced. These were solid CHUNKY pieces of tuna marinated in spice. And the shrimps are BIG and so juicy. Sauces: Sauce selection was great, they do have a yummy assortment of sauces. Some such as, "Creamy Coco Basil or Creamy Cilantro Pesto". I always keep it simple and stick with the one sauce that started it all for me when eating fresh fish, good ol' Spicy Mayo. Toppings or Mix-ins: They have a good selection of these as well, some as your traditional crab salad, seaweed salad and cucumbers. But what stood out to me was the different kinds of masago. They have Jalapeno, Traditional and Habernero masago. I'm not much a masago girl but lately I have been getting into it and my favorite is the habernero masago. I keep it simple with my mix-ins. Just onions, jalapenos, green onions, habernero masago,and fruikake. And if you really wanna give your tastebuds a tingle, they have bacon as well. Now lets get to the portion and price: Portion was very disappointing, very little rice compared to all the other poke places I visit and as well as the portion of proteins. And now let me remind you that the bowl I got was a large, which was the 5 scoop and if you look at the picture I posted, it looks like a 3 scoop bowl. And as for the pretty price tag I paid for this bowl, $17 and some change. I can get a heavy duty bowl with good weight for $15 at other places. Taste?: I can't lie, the bowl was good and I say the compliment more so goes towards the quality of their fish and shellfish. Would I return?: Well since I don't live in Folsom, it is very rare that I would go back. Fishology Poke Bar was our lunch stop after walking part of the Humbug Willow Creek Trail. Their selection of bases and proteins was pretty good and there were a lot of toppings to choose from. The fish seemed fresh. The regular bowl looked really small when we first saw it, but they pack everything in. I kept adding toppings and they all fit! There was one person behind the counter but she was very friendly and helpful. It was a late lunch so no other customers. They have tables just outside their storefront in shade and the weather was perfect for that. Our dogs could sit with us while we ate, which was great. My only issue is the price. While $16.95 for their "regular" bowl doesn't seem like that much given the cost of everything else, but it wasn't that long ago that you could get a poke bowl for $10 or less. Been a while since I've been back. I used to come all the time but then a year would go by. The reason why was because I thought the quality went down a smidge before Covid and that was disappointing. Last night gave it another try and quality is back up! And they've added a couple new items on the menu like the sushi bakes and shrimp tempura. I ordered my usual: salmon protein 5 scoops with a mix of shoyu, ponzu, and spicy Mayo sauce over rice. I add all my favorite toppings and drizzle more spicy Mayo on top. Price with tip was around $20 and plenty of space for me to mix with the new packaging. Taste was fresh and delicious! I used to love this place I would go there at least once a week since they opened. I haven't gone there for about six months since I was so disappointed last time. Went there today and the food was absolutely disgusting. The fish was beyond fishy taste, I usually get their seaweed as mixed in and whatever seaweed they changed to like disintegrate in terms of fish like a black brown color with a bunch of tiny flakes and taste awful, I asked for cucumber. I got two slices of cucumber, I asked for cilantro I got probably three leaves. Unfortunately will not be back. read more
