Don't come here. We arrived Saturday afternoon, the place was totally empty. There was 1 staff only in the entire restaurant, who looked like he was so young he is still in high school. Sometimes it was hard to find him as he escaped into the inside deep into the kitchen. The first thing you notice when you walk in is how hot it is. They turned off the A/C (in sacramento weather! can you imagine?). The doors are all shut, with all the kitchen machinery and boilers and ovens running. The air stayed still and hot. Eventually I asked for the single staff, can I open the front door? He said yes. I opened it and finally, some fresh air! When we tried to order, they had fancy names for each ramen, but underneath it's really just the usual miso vs shoyu. The only difference is the single staff put in a LOT of garlic, like a lot. Taste is so-so The renovation is really nice though, and the tables/chairs are kept clean. Staff is ok friendly. Gave us utensils etc. Sometimes hard to find. Wanted something warm on a rainy day so ramen was perfect. We came in around lunch and it wasn't busy. Inside was clean with several tables and bar seating. The menu had ramen, some sushi, a couple of appetizers, buns, and and salads. We got the garnet miso ramen and the pearl ramen. They were out of the quartz. We also got the kids pearl without onions and a karaage. Food didn't take too long to come out. Flavor and portions were great. Loved the richness of the miso and sesame. We dined here as a family of 4 (2 toddlers) a few times. The broths were perfectly seasoned. Portions were decent. We ordered the Asian spicy ramen combo, ruby shrimp miso combo, and a kids ramen. Food arrived timely. Restaurant was very clean. Staff were attentive and very kind. We also ordered sake and loved the presentation. My only complaints were that there was no protein in the kids ramen unless you added with an additional charge. My pearl ramen was missing onions while my boyfriend's ramen was missing the seasoned veggies. There were only two guys working there who seemed a bit overwhelmed running the busy restaurant so we let it go. The kaarage was very good though, and the sriracha sauce had a good kick to it. I tried adding chilli paste condiment that was on the table and it helped, but only a little bit. The broth is lacking the depth you would expect. Mine was miso and a little creamy which I like. The noodles are okay, nothing special. The protein was scarce as well as the accompanying vegetables - a few bamboo shoots and green onions. I had one or two butterflied and grilled shrimp and a few thin slices of chicken katsu(?). You have to add other toppings for an up charge. It comes with half a hard boiled egg. The prices are a bit high for noodles and bland broth with scarce protein, around $19 per bowl. The environment is clean and modern. In a nutshell; good place to chill, have a mini anime-esque experience as the establishment draws inspiration from anime befitting of its name. Also the iconic initial d car is parked out front. Pretty decent boba, the place has a number of seats and tables to hang out or chill at. There are tables that have manga panels in them which was neat. Parking isn't an issue at all. I paid for a side of shrimp. I got two pieces. Now, maybe with the way prices are going up these days that was all I was entitled to have. HOWEVER, I DEFINITELY paid too much for extra broccolini. They literally gave me two of the smallest side stocks that I've ever seen. Please take a look at the pictures. Would I have anything delivered from here again? Probably not. Chicken was thin dry pieces maybe 3 2" inch slices, broccolini was tiny 2 inches with maybe a little baby floret at the top and only three of those No onion fried or otherwise no noodles were not the thick Ramen noodles I was expecting I know that using a food service delivery can change the quality of the food so I'm hoping that I will be offered the opportunity to experience a sit down Ramen bowl in house to change my mind read more

We had Ramen for lunch: I had a Spicy Garnet, my husband had a Spicy Garnet Vegan (identical to mine, except the pork and egg are replaced with tofu, mushrooms, and corn). He also opted to substitute Kale noodles for the standard RAKKAN noodles. Personally, it wasn't for me. I prefer a traditional Hakata-style ramen, so I was perhaps pre-disposed to not love this. But I was willing to give it a try. For me, the broth was too salty, and a bit too oily. I also prefer a bit more ingredients (e.g., Bok Choy), even if that isn't strictly traditional. My husband, on the other hand, enjoyed it more, so obviously it's based on your own, personal taste. We also ordered a Vegan Bun, which was tasty, but we both felt it was (for us) over-priced for what you get. Service was great; friendly, and quick. A few other things: They have a combination offer to add fried Gyoza (5 pcs) to any Ramen for $4 more. We were hoping to try the Steamed Vegan Gyoza, which costs $1.50 more than the fried version. We asked if we could do that, for $6 extra instead of $4, but disappointingly, we were told, no. Also, my husband asked about the Spicy Quartz Vegan 'creamy sauce', as he wanted to know what they used to make it creamy. He was told it was dairy-based, which is pretty odd for a Vegan dish. Folsom is up and coming with quality ramen-ya, and I'm delighted to have more than a few choices for top notch ramen. Rakkan is a bit hard to notice in the giant strip mall, so you may have to look carefully. Once inside you are greeted by a nicely decorated and clean restaurant. The waitress was pleasant and nice, and gave us great service with a smile. The ramen came quickly and when I saw the creamy thick broth I knew it was gonna be good. I had ordered the "quartz" creamy ramen, since I'm a big fan of hearty and rich ramen broth. Amazingly it was a veggie based broth and It did not disappoint. The flavor was very good and it was good without being overly salty like many ramen-ya. The pork slices were seared very nicely, probably more seared than most other places. The egg was only a half egg, and there was not much other toppings I can remember (maybe some menma?). The noodles were thin and had a nice firmness. I do like both thick and thin. Everything was great but the only disappointment was I wished it was MOAR. I probably could have ate two complete bowls of this delicious ramen. The prices are a buck or two higher than their peers, so basically you will be out the door about twenty bucks for a bowl or ramen, not something I can do every week that's for sure. Found out about their grand opening through social media last year and always wanted to try it as they use vegetable broth for all their ramen and are very vegan friendly! We visited on a Saturday evening and they were packed with people waiting for their to-go orders or waiting to be seated for dine in. Seating is slightly limited considering how busy they get, however, we were seated pretty quickly. Despite being extremely busy, service was still exceptional. We ordered their 3 different ramen - spicy quartz, spicy quartz vegan, and spicy garnet vegan - and a vegan bun. Not quite hungry for a large meal, I was eyeing appetizers and the smaller plate offerings. I did not order ramen. But definitely plan to come back to give that a try. I ordered the small tofu rice bowl $8. Even though it was a small, it was a good serving size to fill me up. It was delicious. Fresh ingredients with great flavors. I also ordered the 5 piece crispy spicy beef gyoza $7. They were delicious as well. It had a great crisp pan fried texture without being greasy. The interior is beautifully designed. They have a communal seated bar, a longer table for a bigger party but it's bar height seating, and then a handful of smaller tables for small parties. But they are all super close to each other. There were only a couple parties there when we arrived, but they still put us right next to another couple and we were so close to them. Luckily we were on an end table next to a wall so we kinda scooted over as much as we could with our daughter in the high chair. We started off with shrimp siumai and I would recommend skipping on this. It comes with 5 pieces and seems like the frozen kind that you can get at the grocery store. Luckily our daughter enjoyed it so I'm glad we had it but it was 100% not worth $9.50! All of their broths are vegan so I was wondering how that lack of a beef or pork flavor would come across. I picked the spicy quartz one and it did have great flavor but would've liked it to be spicier. My husband picked the amber bowl which looked pretty but it was bland. I also didn't like the texture of the actual noodles. They were too firm for my liking but I know some people may like that style. The pork was cooked nicely though. The egg was perfect but you only get half of an egg. If you add on an egg for $2 you get the entire thing. These bowls are $16 and I think the least they can do is put the full egg by default. I've been waiting for this place to open for awhile and now the wait is finally over. Or so I thought... We came a little past noon and waited about 25 minutes to be seated. Our group of 6 had to split- 4 at a table and 2 at the bar. I understand the restaurant isn't big with a max capacity of 28 I believe. After we ordered, we waited about 35 minutes for our ramen. To put this in perspective, it only took us 15 minutes to eat. Was it worth the wait...? Not for me. The broth is unique in that it is vegetable based only. I liked the grilled pork and seasoned egg. Tried their spicy garnet ramen, substituted karaage for pork at no extra cost. The spicy garnet is supposed to be a more creamy broth. the noodles were thin and cooked well. The broth had good flavor but wasn't spicy at all. I added the chili oil on the table to make it more spicy which was good. Also tried the spicy beef gyoza which was ok. Yummy vegan broths make ordering ramen easy. I love that the ramen comes with lot of ramen noodles. The noodles have a nice chew. There isn't as much of the toppings as in other ramen places but in the end one bowl was quite filling and left me feeling satisfied, being vegan this is our go to place as their broths are vegan.
