We went to Hola about 2 to 3 weeks ago! It's a nice quaint place. Their food is absolutely delicious and the variety of tapas they offer is amazing! We will definitely return! We visited this place at 5pm on a Friday night. We were pretty stunned that the whole place was empty. We were welcomed and waited on right away by who seemed very knowledgeable and I would have sworn he was the owner. He told us to start with just 2-3 items first because these aren't the typical tapas size plates. We got the meatballs, the beet and feta arugula salad, and the baked cheese. The baked cheese came out first. It was a really creamy cheese in a sweet fruity jam with some mild spiciness in it. It was delicious but only came with two pieces of small bread between us. The waiter brought out 3 more pieces of bread way later. I would say that the meatballs were tapas sized, and each of the two meatballs could be eaten in one of two bites. Flavorful, but I wouldn't say they're any larger than the typical tapas size. He specifically warned us about the salad being not the usual tapas size which I guess maybe some tapas places would only serve you a clump. This place definitely gave us more than that, it was a long plate of it but when you slide it over to your little plate, half of that salad still neatly fills in the little plate. We were definitely still hungry after that and so we ordered the charred octopus in paprika garlic oil. Definitely tasty octopus and the sauce was definitely garlicky. Lime was provided to give it that acidity. I just wish it came with some bread because the octopus was not plentiful enough to be able to eat with the sauce. The price for these 4 plates were pretty reasonable and it didn't leave us engorged which honestly should be the norm. But if it came with just a little more bread I think we would have been able to indulge in the beautifully crafted sauces more. read more

Our favorite food in the world is Spanish Food... We had never heard of Hola, but it was a pleasant surprise. We consider it a hidden gem in San Antonio! The food was delicious - Patatas bravas, Shrimp al ajo, Scallops, Serrano Flat bread... And we could have tried more! We had sangria and it was delicate and refreshing. The terrace/patio is beautiful, with a gorgeous community wooden table as well as plenty of other individual tables. There's colorful art everywhere, including the giant octopus as stained concrete on the patio. Antonio was super kind and shared with us the story of the place, the art that adorns it, and the plans for amazing paella days in the future. Made a reservation for a friends bday here. None of us had tried this place yet but we're interested in trying it out. The food was good and well priced. Although the service was a bit slow we did like our server. Just seemed they were short staffed so that's understandable. What did upset me about this place was that we made a reservation for 4 people and 1 high chair for our baby. On the phone they did say they had literally only 1 high chair but said they would hold it for our reservation. We didn't ask for them to hold it they said they would for us so we really appreciated that. We got there and the table was not even ready but what was upsetting was seeing that they in fact gave that only high chair to another party. And that other baby was MIA for the first 20 mins of us being there so it was just empty at that other parties table. We ended up leaving after that first round of food and drinks. Since I'm a stay at home mom I was looking forward to having an enjoyable evening with my family and friends but we had to hold our baby the whole time struggling to feed baby and ourselves. So with all that they should probably invest in a few more high chairs and hire more staff for first Friday. read more

Went here on the recommendation of a friend when we were visiting San Antonio. We were looking for something away from the bustle of the riverwalk and this was only a ten minute walk from our hotel.
