We had a car break down occur over the Holidays and both of our regular mechanics were out of town. Holden was open AND willing to take a look at our vehicle despite being slammed with business. Desk manager was professional and helpful in explaining the diagnosis and cost was very reasonable. Didn't hear the news we wanted (Hyundai with a bad transmission), but it was delivered with kindness and didn't charge us to keep the car there while we waited to arrange a tow to a buyer. A little farther than our local mechanic but will absolutely return if the need presents. Highly recommend. read more

I have an old Ford escape. Wasn't starting; without cable charging. Had disappointing results with Ford dealership. EXPENSIVE AND KEPT FOR 10 DAYS for similar problem last year. Very accommodating (even though they were busy) when I dropped by without an appointment for an oil change and pre-trip inspection. They graciously fit me in and I didn't have to wait long at all. They were super friendly and able to explain (to this non-car-knowledge person) exactly what was going on with my tire inflation indicator light. They didn't even charge me for testing the sensors! I never feel comfortable taking my car to the shop. I am always suspicious that I'm being ripped off. I'm the guy that crawls under the car after a service to see if the work was actually done and if I can tell if it was done right. So far, so good with Holden! One of the benefits of these guys is that they'll give you options for repairs if available, and genuinely seem to want to find the best fix for your car and budget (for example, made it clear to me a repair on my 14 year old car probably wasn't a good idea, and suggested a temporary affordable fix instead). If I could write a self help book called "How to Avoid Getting Your Car Repaired At the Dealer" I would. Fortunately, there are small car repair shops like Holden Auto, that help you avoid the hassle of dealing with the unreasonable price hiking car dealer auto repair shop. I have taken three different vehicles to Holden Auto, and all three were different in respect to make, model and type. I was usually pleased with the outcome and friendly effective service that Mr. Holden and his guys gave. I say "usually" here because while I think he has some of the most competitive prices and best service in town, I still fail to comprehend how it can be so expensive to replace something so small. The guy who owns the place, Holden, is a pretty cool guy too. He is almost always there, and he seems to know more about cars than the Rolling Stone Magazine does about reviewing new albums. read more

This place is great. My 98 Jeep Wrangler had a serious electrical issue and another shop had it for a month and was never able to fix the issue. I took my car to Mike at Holden's Automotive not long ago for the first time and my experience was great. I've posted a review about my experience. Last week, my car started to make a loud screeching sound under the hood and I took it to Mike to get a diagnosis. It turned out to be an AC belt. Mike said it wasn't a big issue, fixed the problem free of charge and sent me on my way. Coming home from a trip to DC my car picked up a stone in the AC condenser. Took my vehicle to Lexus and they showed me the small hole with freon leaking out. Of coarse I braced myself for the repair mind you its 2013 GS 350, 14000K. A shade under 2 grand to replace it. Decided to take it to my regular mechanic who's always great, but said no way they could fix it. A man outside said take to it to Holden's in Snellville. I spoke Mike Holden on the phone and he said to bring it by I'll look at it on Monday. Got there Monday and Mike promptly had his mechanic pull it in to look at it. Sitting in the lobby feeling nervous after 10-15 minutes seemed like an hour. My only thoughts were they can't fix this, just suck it up and go to Lexus. The owner came out and said we can absolutely fix it. Said he wouldn't take it on if he couldn't. After waiting for Lexus to deliver the condenser, all of a day, they had my vehicle fixed within hours of getting the part. My car was in pristine condition, with my AC now working, and everything perfectly put back in place. Experience, integrity, competency. If you're looking for something else don't stop here. To begin with, Holden Automotive only services vehicles made in the USA and Pac Rim. No Euro brands at all. So your Benz/Bmr/Vw/Mini/Volvo/Jag/Fiat/etc are not serviceable here (too many cooks in the kitchen...). Our family's Chevy, Honda, Toyota and Nissan all get excellent service, all run Synthetic, and all have the distinction of never breaking down (except for the occasional battery wearing out). The 1990 Toyota pickup has 220,000 miles and runs like a top - no smoke, no smell, no problems. If you need a good mechanic go visit the pro's at Holden. read more
