The first restaurant I ate at in 2025 was a small brunch place in Williamsburg. I met some friends, had coffee, thrifted, and stopped at this restaurant. Hole in the Wall is unfortunately not an actual "hole in the wall" restaurant as they have four different NYC locations. The vegan options here were limited, but enough. I was eating with my omnivore friends so I wanted to be sure they had enough options as well. I ordered the vegan oatmeal for approximately $15. I'm not sure what it was called, I think they may have changed the menu because the "Apple Crumble Oatmeal" was not what I received. The oatmeal had blueberries, strawberries, dried cranberries, chia seeds, and sprouts. I was excited to try this place because I had (shamefully) seen it in a few Instagram reels, and it looked like a fun and cozy spot with delicious food. Unfortunately, I was served the blandest oatmeal l've ever had in my life. There was no flavor to the oats at all. The sprouts were an awesome addition to the oats and added a lot of flavor. Sadly, the sprouts could not save this meal. The saving grace of this spot was the payment system. My triends and I were able to easily split the check with the help of a website/app. I've never seen something like this before, but more restaurants need it. I was a bit confused about how the tip worked...! don't know if I was scammed or not, but it was cool! Service was also mediocre. Then the other bartender, Danny, began saying the exact same thing with supreme confidence. It's like they were stating a fact rather than an opinion. Stopped by being that my niece was in the mood for an expresso martini. 1-10 the martini in her opinion needed a little more flavor and she gave it a 6 1/2 -7 on the martini. Popped into Hole in Wall after there was absolutely no more space inside at Sauced right up the street. It actually worked better for my friend and I to come to Hole in the Wall because it was wayy nicer and not as sweaty lol. When we arrived on a Friday evening we were quickly seated. The ambience was really nice in here with the bar lit up and live performers singing some of my favorite Erykah Badu songs. What I will say is that I wished that they had a coat rack or something because the tables were so close and my coat was so big that I had to keep it in my lap the whole night. Hole in the Wall is one of my Aussie friends, but truthfully, I would not necessarily seek it out; however, if you are in the area I would definitely invite you to come seek out either their happy hour deal (M-F 4-6 PM) or their Spritz flight. It is one of my dependable solo reading spots. They have plenty of outdoor seating and a rather spacious interior. I love getting frisky with their paloma off of their Happy hour menu ($10). I tend to restrict myself to 2 then continue on the journey with a glass of house white wine. (Their house wines are also $10 and beers $5, I believe) However, I more recently ordered their Spritz flight and it comes with 3. 1) Tickled Pink: juicy strawberry, but with bitter notes, paying homage to the viral "negroni sbagliato with prosecco." 2) Get Wet: refreshing, with cucumber and mint 3) Brazilian: (probably my favorite because I'm a fruity girl): juicy and tart with vibrant passion fruit. If you are trying to pass time by grabbing a cold one or waiting for a spot at Fresh Kills Bar across the way, come hither! *I have eaten here once for dinner, but it was good, but not too memorable. I really just came here for the espresso martini which are strong and delicious. I got the tequila based one. My friend and I had 2 each. I got the breakfast burrito. Truly an interesting menu with great service with a chic / cozy Williamsburg vibe. The cocktails looked great though I just stuck with coffee. They had lots of non-alcohol breakfast drinks as well and always love a spot with many different types of plant based milk. I got the kimchi egg scramble and my partner got the pulled porks eggs benedict. Our brunch came out FAST, and everything was really, really, delicious. The egg benedict had lots of pulled pork and it was basically melt in your mouth. I particularly liked the combo of the eggs, feta, kimchi and green onions. Although I didn't enjoy it, my partner loved it and ate my left overs smothered in the panna cotta. He also said his Brekkie Roll "slapped" and he got the same thing last Thursday. This review is for brunch only. I live around the neighborhood and this is one of my go-to spots on the weekends. I usually just walk in (but you can make reservations online) and I don't think I've ever waited more than 30 minutes for a table for two people. There's also plenty to do around this area if you have to wait. There's also some outside seating in the front (some partially covered and some not) that is great on warmer days. Service has always been great and the ambiance is really nice. Casual, yet trendy, yet neighborhood vibes. I usually always order the same thing: -Matcha Latte w/ oat milk: perfectly foamy. And perfectly matcha - not too bitter or earthy tasting. -Wild Mushroom Toast: sometimes I add bacon. But even without the bacon, this is so so good. If you love mushrooms, you will probably love this. The egg is perfectly yolky and they give a generous heaping of mushrooms. I've also tried the Smoked Salmon Lox Toast. I wish there was more cream cheese and capers, but this was quite good and I'd order again. Another popular one that I haven't tried, but people I've gone with have is the Chili Scrambled Eggs. I ended up just going with a beer and some fries. Fries were really good. But the bartender, I'm not sure. He was a lively Italian and at first I was thinking maybe it was a difference in cultures for how many times I was called baby, but then towards the end - it was a bit too much for me. I really like the decoration and everything, but for American food - I'm not sure if I was overly obsessed with this place. I highly recommend adding the halloumi to any dish. I miss the hash brown, which they discontinued. The servers are all lovely. I've done outdoor seating with my dog several times and they're always offer to get him water and the like. Situated in a refurbished corner of architectural heights, Hole in the Wall is anything but a hole in the wall. High ceilings, tall columns and wide open dining space. Our lively group of birthday celebrators sat outdoors in the outdoor structure very similar in pine wood boards, which most restaurants have constructed during these pandemic times. Food portions are large and meant to be shared, which we gladly obliged. We were stuffed in the end. Beautiful Rosé wine flowed all evening in pale dry pink and coral hues as we made another toast. We went to Hole in the Wall in Williamsburg for a girls brunch (only 3 of us) on a Monday and unfortunately our experience was not as great as we expected based on the reviews (on google...). Should have told my friends to look at the Yelp reviews instead lol. Food: "A" for presentation. "C-" for taste. First, my hot matcha was served in a glass cup and not mug. The heat of the matcha was seeping through the glass not allowing me to enjoy my drink. We ordered the Big Cheezy, the OG burger and the pulled pork Benedict . The Big Cheezy was tasteless, and dry. The cheese was not even melted, it was just stacked on top of the burger and was totally not what I expected. The OG burger was also tasteless and dry, a little better than the big Cheezy but it's probably because of the bacon that they add (everyone who eats bacon knows that can totally hook any plate up lol). The pulled pork Benedict was just ok. Even though the main course was not great...the fries..are off the hook. They were crispy, the taste fresh and the perfect amount of seasoning. As previously stated, the matcha was served hot in a glass cup (fail) and to be even more honest, I'm not sure if it was ceremonial grade because it definitely did not taste like it. The ambiance was cool, chill and inclusive. Seems like people go there for casual brunch. The service was a little less than ok. But not terrible. They took a bit long to come and take our order. I will not be coming back to this restaurant because I was left unsatisfied with the food and the service. I do not recommend it....unless of course, you are going for the fries that were delicious...and maybe the drinks (avoid the matcha...). read more

The chili scramble was good, although a little too cheesy for my taste and not spicy like the name implies. I didn't try the brekkie roll but I had some of the sweet potato fries which might actually have been my favorite part of the meal.
