Finally tried the hype of these donuts. I just say when you walk in, it's a funky smell. I don't know if I'm the only one who notices that. Nothing bad about that but when it came to eating the strawberry donut, it tasted the way it smelled. Didn't care for the strawberry. But the classic and the chocolate was pretty good! The price for a donut though, I would pass. I'd probably get this if I'm craving it. Other than that, donuts from a regular restaurant is good for me. Overall, not bad! I would return to try the other flavors. read more

Definitely a very hip donut shop, we ordered the OG glazed and Hail Mary flavored. Delish and fresh, but you have to eat it at the shop because it's a cakey not yeast donut so it's crispy and hot. I can see it being soggy and glazed melted away if you tried to take it to go. Only ding I would give is that they only have cold brew coffee. Was expecting to have espresso or cappuccino. read more

Finally got to try the hyped up Holey Grail taro donuts, months after they arrived on Oahu, and I see what the hype was all about! There's nothing like HOT, made to order donuts and when I bite into them, they are crisp on the outside and soft and pillow-y on the inside. The texture alone gets 5 stars from me! I immediately ate one in the car, but even then ones that we ate when I got home had the same consistency, though not as hot. I ordered the sampler box, which is a good deal because yo are essentially getting one free donut. The flavors were actually quite subtle to me, and there wasn't one that I loved more than the other. They were all good. I also ordered the special of the week, which was local honey and sea salt. Perhaps the thing that REALLY blew me away was the chocolate "mylk"! So good that after my first sip, I let out an audible "holey moley!" This is a non-dairy "mylk" made with coconut milk, cashew milk, Manoa chocolate cacao, maple syrup and sea salt. I have been hearing about this place for awhile and I'm so happy that I got to stop by! I ordered a tasting box which comes with 4 unique warm donuts. I got a lilikoi, cinnamon and saffron, maple, and matcha donut. All the names of the donuts were very fun. The matcha donut was called lucky charms and it had gold sesame seeds on top of it and I thought that was such a fun name! The donuts come out fresh and hot so it's best to eat it fresh. They had a couple of seats outside of the shop for anyone that wants to eat it right away. My favorite would have to be the lilikoi and the cinnamon and saffron. The lilikoi wasn't too sweet and went well with the bread of the donut. I thought the cinnamon and saffron also went so well together. It was the perfect amount of sweetness and flavors that you could taste all the different ingredients. I have also noticed that they change there flavors often so I am looking forward to trying different donuts. read more

Amazing!! I am one of those weird people who doesn't love all desserts but these are donuts I will get excited about any day of the week. The texture is fluffy but dense, almost like Agnes' malasadas. And the flavors! They're all so unique and they really shine with their fruit ones, as I rarely like fruit donuts but loved these. I recommend getting a sampler, and don't miss out on that maple! read more

I bought a sample box and basically everything was delicious. I am still super drawn to their classic one though - because it is just so simple and delicious. The sweetness level is just right and the texture just cannot be beat. When you eat it fresh while it is hot (it is made fresh to order) - the dough has a light bounciness to it, but is also soft and pillow-ie, and the outside has a nice crispiness to it. How does one achieve such mastery in a doughnut? You tell me. It is probably a good thing that I do not live next to their store. The only critique I have of this place is their coffee. It doesn't really stand out and is not really that strong, but I guess people don't really come here with a coffee focus. I also love that they have rotating flavors - so you can come back every week and experience a whole new donut. Again - this is very dangerous as their donuts are delicious. Although these donuts are on the pricier end- you deserve to treat yourself to the donut mastery craft that Holey Grail will deliver. My friend and I got the tasting box and it was super good! The donuts came out warm and had a slight crisp. I absolutely loved it because it felt so fresh and they were! Our favorite was the orange (top left of the corner), it had a nice mixture of sweet and sour from the orange. Definitely when I come back I'll be trying more of their coffee beverages, looks interesting! The service was super nice and the truck is super cute! I really liked their sticker and I asked them how much it was and they just gave my friend and I one for free!! Definitely will be coming back and trying more donuts and coffee!! read more

Freshly cooked warm donuts in a box that rivals some jewelry store boxes. Sometimes food that could never be considered healthy, is made in a way that might be considered "healthier". They are delicious and the batter draws me in, but they are also much smaller than Purve (which I consider a gourmet donut as well). And of course smaller than say Zippys, Liliha Bakery or grocery store yeast donuts. So you get what you pay for here. I think they are just as sweet and possibly not as innovative as Purve, so cost for value I'd go with Purve as my calorie and spending splurge (staff birthdays, messy break ups, last day of school...) Tried the tasting/sampler box today & it was freshly made which nothing beats a hot donut. Size was rather small in comparison to the regular donut & pricier but definitely an Instagram worthy box. Fried in coconut oil and taro based, these cake donuts are the perfect snack and you can't go wrong with the variety box of 4 at $3 each. Service is amazing, our cashier was so friendly and upbeat it just adds to the wonderful experience. Served hot and in a very sleek box, I am elated for another vegan dessert option in town. Came into the store and was greeted with amazing hospitality. Antonio asked if I had any questions about the menu. As it is my first time in, I asked him "what's good here?" He told me his favorite and recommended I get the 2 Hail Marys, Dragonslayer, and Prosperity. He rang me up and the total was $16.68. Not bad at all for 4 artisan donuts. Will be coming back! Well, I was very impressed when the office clerk brought a box of donuts to share from a generous family. I just loved the fancy box - I said, "oh my, this is like the Louis Vuitton of donuts!" I chose cardamom and rose - what a pretty donut! First bite - it was still warm and cardamom and rose was very very light but the donut texture and taste was lovely. A little chewy, a little cakey, not at all dry and a very light crisp on the outside! I will definitely try another if I'm ever in the area! read more

Dear lord, we found this place on a whim after dinner and it was a winner! This was the tasting box with Liliko'i, Guava, cocoa nib sugar, and vanilla bean/cherry drizzle glazed. We started as a Sunday pop-up in Hanalei, Kauai out of a tiny red hamburger trailer. Our family served fresh taro donuts every Sunday, building a cult following that resulted in 45-minute waits, DJs spinning vinyl, and the world's most delicious donut experience that celebrated our community.

There was a fairly long wait - around 8 - 10 minutes for one cup. It seemed like one of the baristas was new and another staff member was teaching her, so I completely understood the delay. But when I finally received the drink, it didn't taste anything like the coconut latte I was expecting and it's the most expensive one though. I've probably had couple of hundreds coconut lattes, so I have a pretty good idea of what I was looking for. I asked the barista if she might have accidentally made a regular latte instead of a coconut latte, and she assured me, "Yes, it's a coconut latte." I took several sips, but honestly, it tasted more like a cold brew to me. Since I had my cat with me and the AC inside was also quite strong, I eventually went outside and just enjoyed hanging out with my cat instead. I really wanted to love this place because the atmosphere and staff were so nice. If the coconut latte had been made correctly - or tasted more like the coconut latte shown in their photos - I would definitely consider coming back. If this was a coffee shop, I'd give it 5 stars since the drink I tried was bussin'. However, it's a donut shop and the donuts ain't it. However, I'm kicking myself for not trying more of their drinks, because the drink menu looked fire. Anyways, I LOVE when shops make their own milks, and the cashew milk was so creamy and refreshing with a tinge of saltiness. The cocao they use is local which is a plus. However, the donuts were... SO EXPENSIVE, TINY, & UNDERWHELMING. We kinda felt like we threw money down the drain buying the donuts. The texture is ok, but they definitely taste.... Healthy. I love the idea of using poi but it's not executed very well and it's just all so pricey. If I wouldn't have tried the incredible drink I did, I would rate this place a 1 star based on their donuts. gorgeous store with pretty donuts which change in flavor every couple weeks. you can get boxes for a discounted bundle price. they also sell drinks, but in the times i have tried the drinks, they were not my favorite. however, the drinks they offer are unique!! the donuts are more like cake donuts, so if you want yeasted, fluffy donuts i would recommend little vessels co on 9th ave (kaimuki). however, the donuts are still delicious. love that they use a poi donut batter. since the donuts are fried in coconut oil, those who don't like coconut may not love it. definitely at least give them a try, though! read more

The one I've had my eye on but yet to try is the egg sandwich. Each bite was tasty, I'm not sure if it was the bread or the scallop I liked more! You can choose the eat there inside there are the food court or head outside to get some amazing fresh air. Depending on the time and day the inside can be a bit of a hustle and bustle. Just because it's Hawai'i, I like to take my to go and enjoy my sandwich on the beach!

Imitation crab, avocado and cucumber. Loved this one. Strawberry: fluffy whip cream with chunks of ripe strawberries. Not overly sweet and my fav of the three. Price for these was decent. It was a nice lunch that didn't leave us super full before heading out on a drive through the island.

This day visited their bakery at the foot of St Louis Drive with a few of my coffee pals. Always enjoy savory, the first thing I ordered was the cheddar cheese bacon chives scone. So decadently delicious. Got distracted by the kalamata olive foccacia. John was so kind to heat it up and bring it to our table with a bit of olive oil for dipping. Amongst our group we also had a number of breakfast sandwiches on sourdough English muffins, cinnamon rolls, and other pasteries. Looking forward to returning for the haupia poi bread which was out on the day we visited, the amazing looking mooncakes Yelp Elite Jackie K raves about, or another sourdough treat. And yes, I couldn't resist and took home a loaf of jalapeño and cheese sourdough, fresh out of the oven... delicious fresh and toasted! The…read morelocation is so centrally located for me so I was super excited to discover a bakery right off Waialae before the H1 on ramp. We purchased a breakfast Sando, a sourdough bagel, a cheddar, bacon and spring onion scone and of course a sourdough cinnamon roll. My husband added an extra egg to his sandwich and he was super impressed that they were able to fit it all on one English muffin! He was very happy with his sandwich and said it was incredible. The sourdough cinnamon rolls they selected to serve us was a corner piece which we don't prefer, they had a whole batch that looked fresh and we were the only customers so I'm a little disappointed that we didn't receive a superior piece. The flavor was distinctly sour which I loved and we were pleasantly surprised at how moist the roll was. The size was a little small for the price. The cheddar bacon spring onion scone was very salty, I don't think I'd order it again. I really enjoyed being able to see the baker working right at the front so I appreciated the atmosphere.
