Never had a gel mani & pedi before and heard pretty good things about this place so gave it a try! A friend told me to make an appointment since it gets pretty packed on weekends, especially on Saturdays! So, I did! Gel mani & pedi for 4 please! The girls that did our nails were nice. We had a girl named Cindy and Maggie. Both were very professional, but the mani & pedi felt kind of rushed since the place was so busy. Nails looked good when we left, BUT then it all began to change as the day went on! I started noticing some bubbles on some of my nails. One of my sister's nail started to chip, and my friends nails didn't hold for a week!! (They told us the gel nails would last about 3 weeks) - WRONG!!! So pretty much 3 out of 4 had to redo their nails a day before the wedding. We were very disappointed! I guess this time a good decent price really means a quick & cheaply done mani & pedi. i can't decide to give 3 or 4 stars. i think this place is really you pay for what you get for its decent service the staff is really nice. They really try to make their customers happy but a few times i had the gel it would chip after one week. i mainly get the gel to last me awhile so i wasn't so thrilled about it i thought maybe it was a one time thing but it happened several times so i usually just come in for a basic mani pedi. and sometimes i just in to get a color. read more

Pedicure: The lady was scrubbing the wrong part of my foot which made it tickle like crazy..almost kicked her in the face. She either cut my nails crooked or painted the french white crooked... and I swear she cut my cuticle too deep cuz it was stinging when she pour alcohol on it! GRRR! Gel Mani w/ Design: They use "Gellish" brand Gel Nail Polish, which looks "gel-ish". It was chipped within 24 hours. I thought Gel was more "chip proof", I guess that is what happens when you get "gel-ish" kinda gel and not the real macoy! On to the design part, I got a Hello Kitty since it looks to be their "specialty" design. It was put on my middle finger. I don't know if its me or them, but I swear they like to be crooked. Damn face was not center, whiskers ended up going all whacky to accomodate. Within 24 hours, the 3D Bow Design slowly fell off, its started with the Rhinestone center, left bow, right bow and now my finger nail is left with a crooked-ass face of hello kitty. BOOOO! Hollys is definitely the place to go to if you want to get your nails done for a cheap price and if you want them to look absolutely beautiful ! I've been coming to this place for many years but today is my last straw. If you decide to come here, absolutely avoid Wendy! She does not know what she is Doing! Cut me not only once, but twice! I had ask her to remove my old acrylic by using acetone. She refused too until she cut me deep in my index finger, then she decided to dip my finger in acetone. Not only did it burn I was furious. Second time she cut me again by cutting my skin off. 5 hours later my fingers are still semi bleeding with slight touch. My acrylics came out uneven On the tip and swirl lines because Wendy does not know how to apply acrylics. Wendy had also over charged me until her co worker mentioned I did not have to pay extra for pink powder because it's my nail polish. I've been going to this location since I was in high school. The pricing is reasonable and the service they provide is great. I used to just sit down with whoever was available. But then I met Maggie and absolutely loved her work!!! She's been doing my nails for about 3 years now. She's extremely talented and is always able to duplicate the designs I want. If you're looking for a good nail tech I highly recommend making an appointment with her. I usually don't get my acrylic nails done in this area, but since I am home for the summer, I had to find a place so I decided to try this after driving by a few times and their yelp reviews! Donna worked on my full set with white tips. There was a charge of $3 for taking off my previous set =/ Then she proceeded to try to yank them off, which didn't work as well. The previous places I've gone to usually soaked my nails in acetone before trying to take them off. And she did cut my nails tooooo short and when she filed them down even more, they definitely hurt. Those were probably the only bad parts about my first experience here. After that, she was very careful and meticulous about every little detail. They have pictures of the shape of nails, which I thought was a good idea so you know exactly what they'll turn out to be. Donna also made sure to ask me if I liked it (after everything she did haha) and if I wanted her to change anything. I might be expecting too much, but my full set definitely took WAY longer than I expected. Total time I was in there? Probably an hour and 40 minutes, and I got seated right after I walked in. I usually go to Princess Nails on Las Tunas but decided to give Holly Nails a try because they have 3D art and it actually looks good. I love the hello kitty design they did for me however, it took almost two hours for my nail take off, full set and pedicure and though the lady was very kind and gentle with taking off my old set I feel it took ALOT longer than it should have and definitely alot longer than I'm used to. Lily was helping me. She's nice n friendly but could be a little rough sometimes or I'm too sensitive. It didn't come out quite exactly what I expected but it's still nice. I went to this salon to get a pedicure because my regular place Candy Nails was closed and this place was just down the street. I will NEVER, EVER go here again. The place is not just run down as others have posted, it was absolutely FILTHY! The tile section of the floor was dirty and the carpet was filthy. After my pedicure, they asked me to sit in another chair - even though there was no one waiting for the spa chair - and I had to walk on the carpet to get to the other chair. Ewwwww. The carpet was so dirty I didn't even want to step on it! The staff is not just unfriendly, they were downright rude. The worst thing....I NOW HAVE AN INFECTION on my big toe!!!!!! I paid $20 (more than my regular place) was treated rudely AND got an infection from the filth. This place should be shut down! LILY does great designs and she has plenty of designs for you to pick from. while i wasn't looking for the all out taiwanese bling bling look, she completely blinged out my nails and i actually didn't mind them! for a while i couldn't stop looking at them because they were so sparkly and glittery. i'd totally recommend people come here for the 3 D nail art, its beautiful work for a great price! one thing that is a slight negative is the way she shaped and placed my acrylics but i guess had i been paying more attention, i could have had her shape them better. otherwise no complaints here. love this place and loved my nails! read more

The quality at Holly nails now is almost embarrassing - I should've heeded the warning signs from how slow the business was on a Sunday. On top of that, 2 days later my gel nails chipped. SO in 48 hours, my nails had already started to look like it needed to be touched up. At this point, what am i even paying "gel" nails for?! I came in also wanting BURGUNDY nails. I have always loved getting French-Tipped Pedicures, especially with the designs on them, however, I have never gotten ones before with 3D Nail Art, and thanks to Holly Nails Spa, I'm totally digging it, and for the matter, cannot stop looking at my fabulous toes, hehehe! Thanks to all the fellow Yelpers out there, who had reviewed this salon, and had posted their fabulous 3D Art Design manicures and pedicures, I had decided to come here today, and try it out. Around 12:15PM, on a Saturday, the place was already semi-packed, and luckily, I didn't have to wait, since most of the ladies there were getting their nails done, and all I wanted was a french-tipped, 3D Design pedicure. Thanks to the pics from Nerissa Y., and G.Y., I was also able to print out their designs, and show it to my pedicurist, Linda, who had created mine's (please see pic "$20, Hello Kitty 3D French Tipped Toes). Linda was glad that I had printed it out, but also thankful that she had an idea on what I wanted, and of course, ladies, if you want a certain design, just print it out and show it your manicurist, and they'll custom design it for you. Linda was very detail-oriented with my toes, especially with cutting my cuticles gently, and getting the nails shaped evenly since I haven't had a pedicure in a couple of months. However, when she had gotten to massaging my feet, she did press a little too hard on the palm of my right foot, and my leg jerk, lol...luckily, I didn't end up kicking her, so phew! Furthermore, I've noticed that Linda had put on gloves when she had worked on my feet as all manicurists in there, however, unlike the other ones, she didn't put on a face mask. Then again, she wasn't putting on heavy duty polish, or that my feet didn't stink as much, lol....In addition, she's also very soft spoken, and so at times, I had trouble hearing her through both our broken English / Vietnamese languages, hehe... As for the Hello Kitty Design, Linda was very thorough, and patient in holding onto my toes since my legs shaked a little bit after sitting so long, and placing them on a foot pedestal. For the bow, Linda suggested me to go with Hot Pink (abso., favorite color!) since the red bow she had were faded. In creating the bow and face of Hello Kitty, she used acrylic (sp?) paint, and puff paint (bow), and finished it off with a little bling for the bow. At first, I was kind of concerned that she had used puff paint, and worried about it peeling off, but Linda assured me that it won't, which is true since I have used puff paint on my clothes before. She finally topped off my whole pedicure with extra strength clear nail polish, and superglue version of nail polish to secure the bow. Even the other manicurists came over and checked out Linda's work, and were pleased with it too, and since I can understand Vietnamese, I'll truly know whether or not Linda had messed up, especially by what they're saying to each other. Overall, the experience was definitely peasant, and absolutely loved my pedicure. The total cost was $20 ($11 for pedicure; $3 for French tipped; $6 for both toe designs [$3 a piece]) + tip). I would definitely come back, and probably bring my mom with me since she also likes getting her toes done too. read more

I REALLY wanted to like this place, but when a nail pops off within two days of what seemed to be a great experience the night of, it aint happening. Booking an appt was easy as pie. I walked in at 5:30 sharp, was seated immediately, and the gel manicure was finished super fast. I got the seashell/glitter gel, and Vi overlayed it with acrylic because she said it will be bumpy if I just do gel over it. Makes sense. She was precise and fast but something during the prep must've gone wrong because when the nail came off, it didn't even peel my nail. Not saying that peeled nails are awesome, but it obviously means the acrylic did not set. I can see that my other acrylics are already lifting from the nail on the sides too =( The whole process: glitter gel, acrylic, gel topcoat cost $30 and I tipped her $7, which felt like a steal Friday night but by Sunday I was fuming. This place is Old Reliable. I've been coming to this salon for 'Natural' Mani's and Pedi's for Years now (I don't get acrylic). Technicians come and go, but the service is still pretty even across the board. They have Spa chairs if you want a little extra comfort, and they have always been in working order in my experience. It costs a little bit more for the Spa chairs of course. The Salon looks pretty clean and they usually have music playing as well as a TV on silent. I have tried other salons along the way (friends suggestions), but this is the place I know I don't have to worry about. I recommend Holly Nails. I got upsold to try their dead skin cells peel (where they use this thing that looks like a cheese grater to get all your dead skin cells off) and now the bottom of my left foot won't stop peeling off skin!!! Super questionable. It's cheap, but...is it clean? Is it high quality? Is it friendly? Very hit or miss. The cleanliness issue is huge. Their plastic cases all have the word clean written on them, but if you pay close attention, none of their tools are actually cleaned. Mine were cleaned in front of me by removing what was left over. :/ Then there is the issue of quality. My left foot didn't get half the procedures my right foot got. And regarding service, the lady was nice enough. She didn't know any English, but at least that's better than the bitchy, young woman who runs the place. I'm talking myself down to a one star. Came by on a whim with my good friend for a mani date catch up. Manage to make an appointment last minute for 2 people: 1 gel mani 1 acrylic mani, same day, 6 pm. Upon arrival, they only had the appointment for the gel mani not the acrylic. So much for last minute availability. Thankfully they will be able to seat me, only after screaming at each other across the room. Right away she removed my existing regular nail polish, but it wasn't thoroughly done. I still had hot pink near the cuticle area and under my nails. That chick didn't even bother cleaning it off at all, she didn't even clip my nails and went ahead an glued the plastic tips on. Then moved me over to a guy to get my nails done. Okay fine. The whole time the guy was doing my nails. He was 21 questioning me and his responds to my responds was a bit rude. Asking why I am doing my nails, when I told him I just felt like it, he just brushed it off with people generally do it for a reason. Then when I ask a question he casually brushes it off with a very generic answer. Awesome customer service. -_- So I was interested in 2 finishes, one being a nude finish, no design, just polish. I even showed him a picture of what shade I had in mind, he then shows me a color that was darker and claim that it's exactly that color. Excuse me, I aint blind. The other is white french tip with a single hello kitty design. When I opted for the white french with hello kitry, he gave me the run around how 1. It would take a 'little' longer 2. My girl friends and I decided to go to Holly nails to get manicures and pedicures a few days ago. This is not the usual place I go to for mani/pedis so I was a bit hesitant. The guy at the first desk does the best acrylics but too bad I cant say the same for the rest of the workers there. The girl who worked on me rushed my pedicure and even handed me some cotton with acetone for me to remove my own polish so she could tend to anther customer's fill. She told me to "wait a while for my toe nails to dry" after my pedi so she can do my manicure which was not even relevant. I still hadn't gotten my manicure by the time my friends were done with theirs. I didn't feel valued and I don't think they even care about customer retention. This place is my affordable go to place for mani/pedi and eyebrow waxes. I used to come here for mani/pedis a lot - they were great and fast. However, it has been about 5 years since I've been here for a mani/pedi so things could have changed. I have been coming here to get eyebrow waxes since 2006 and I must say - I love it! It was 6$ but the price has been raised to $7 sometime in the past year or two. They are usually really fast and do a pretty good job. After it is done, they always ask me if I like it or if there's anything I'd like to adjust. Sometimes there is and they would fix it right away. Finally got my hello kitty nail design I've been wanting to try! Julie was very sweet and did a great job on my nails. I got a pedicure and manicure (French tip nails with 2 hello kitty designs)A bit of advice: the HK design looks way better on acrylic vs natural nails since they have more room to work with and the polish adheres better. Anyway, I paid $28 and I'm happy with the results :) I'll be back in a couple weeks! read more
