What a surprise to us to find such a complete and wondrous pet supply store so close to home. Our 20 year old cat, blind in one eye, very hard of hearing is also a fussy eater. We go through a lot of a lot of cat food, threats, broths, squeeze tubes and cans. She is a gravy-licker, licking around the solid pieces of food. We learned early to not run out to buy a case when she likes something. Seems like the purchase of any large quantity of edible is rejected by Miss Snotty Cat, immediately. We have rooted around all the super markets and pet shops in our mania to find SOMETHING that she will eat. Leaving on of the best Thai restaurants in the area, Bhan Thai. we passed Hollywood Feed and hit gold. First of all, Hollywood has aisles of stuff. Food, chews, clothing, cookies, leads ad collars and great employees who know where everything is and what is what about all their stuff. Yes, it is more expensive that the normal haunts, but they have so much variety that it is worth it. We tentatively tried a few stews and broths, plus two cans of mushy food. Within two days we were back to stock up. Ritzy the snot cat LOVED the canned liquidy food and loudly scarfed up the stew. In this resupply mission, we bought varieties of the lines she ate. And the food experimentation continues. Hollywood Feed is where to get serious in taking care of fussy, snotty cats and having a higher probability of success than in super markets. You will see. If I could leave 0 stars I would. I brought my Pomeranian in to get groomed by Bree, worst mistake of my life. I've had a bad experience before with groomers wanting to chop all his hair off. I expressed this to her so many times that it's taken a YEAR to grow his beautiful hair back, I even showed her a PICTURE of what exactly I wanted, which was a LONG HAIR Pomeranian cut. I didn't even recognize my dog when I picked him up, I was in shock truly. She did the exact opposite of what I asked. Mind you this was his very first appointment with her it was scheduled for 1pm, she wasn't done till 6pm! What took you so long Bree? Because all you did was shave off all my dogs hair that I've worked so hard to grow back. NEVER GET YOUR DOGS GROOMED HERE. She's lazy and doesn't want to put in the work that owners ask for! The door of the store was wide open, but both the truck and the store itself were unattended. No one in the front, the back, or even the bathroom. I was looking for a certain drop for my pup. Store is very organized and clean. Most of the people working were up front so I asked them a few questions. Reason for my good review is because when my 20 year old cat was sick and dying, she advised me to change diet and to use some holistic care for her. I am surprised by all of the negative reviews. I feed my cats a raw food diet and this is the only place in Charlotte that sells the food that I like, not to mention that it is a few dollars less than every other place I've checked out. Trust me, I'm pretty sure I've been to them all. In addition, this store has a great selection of natural and holistic supplements for cats, which is really hard to find. When my cat Taz was sick, my husband and I spent unspeakable amounts of money at the vet to try to get him better. In the end, it was the advice of this store and 3 holistic supplements that brought him back to health. I have never experienced the attitude that others have, either in person or over the phone. Everyone here has been nothing but helpful with questions and willing to special order products they do not normally carry in stock. I would recommend checking them out. I happened to be walking around one day and this place caught my eye. They cater to the people who want to go green and take their pets with them. They have all kind of holistic products for you pets. It's a lot of fun to just poke around and see all the organic pet products that are on the market today. My wife and I continue to shop at Pawtique because they are the only local place that carries our dogs' favorite food. Were it not for that fact, we would not step foot in this store again. They have one employee in particular who is completely unhelpful, and very rude. She always seems to be there, and won't stop a conversation with other staff to check you out. Both my wife and I have waited several minutes at the cash register multiple times while she glances at us and continues to chatter. Worse yet, even when we request that they order a product they are out of, she doesn't actually do so. And for their pet treats, they never carry the same product twice, so your pet can't grow accustomed to their favorite. To top it off, their prices seem unreasonably high for many items. A word of advice: don't eat the human cookies. The store bakes cookies for their people customers and the last time I was in the store, one employee left them to cool on the counter, next to a caged bird. Another employee commented to the first that this wasn't acceptable, as she found feathers on the cooling cookies, and the employee who made them commented "more protein" and didn't throw them out. My experience has always been pleasurable at Pawtique. All of the staff, including the owner, has always made me feel welcome. They carry premium foods that I prefer to feed my dog. Because my dog loses interest in food every few weeks, I quite often switch up what we feed her. (no worries, her stomach handles it well). The Pawtique staff is always very knowledgeable and answers all my questions with a smile. I have made returns without a bit of hassle. I have never encountered the rude employees mentioned in other reviews here. Give this store a try. We need more businesses like Pawtique in Charlotte. The store itself is beautiful, but wow, the groomers are rude! I'm really surprised people who are around sweet dogs all day can be so grumpy, but they are. The grooming services aren't bad, but they don't do a great job on dog faces (uneven cuts/lengths that grow out awkwardly). Ultimately would like to leave my pup with people who have a sunnier disposition. Same experience for a friend of mine who I recommended try them. My experiences with Pawtique have been positive. My cat loves the treats he gets from there and I decided to start getting his litter there after he had some urinary tract issues. Between the new litter and the Rx food from my vet, he hasn't had any issues in a long time. My cat had a stressful weekend when my sister visited last summer and brought her cat on the trip. He was very aggressive and on edge after my sister's cat went home. I tried doing a deep clean of my carpets and plugging in Feliway to neutralize any scents from my sister's cat, but that didn't slow down my cat's aggression. The staff at Pawtique helped me find the right formula to mix a couple drops into his water and he was back to his normal self quickly. Finally, I have not had any bad encounters with the staff. My favorite staff member is obviously Beau. It's a good place, close to where I live, and is distinct from the race-to-the-bottom national chains. read more

This holistic store is GREAT! I am in the process of transitioning my dog from dry food to a raw diet. When I first walked in, I was a bit overwhelmed. They had many choices to choose from for raw diets. Even though I had done a TON of research, I still had a lot of questions. One woman (who I believe to be the owner) kindly asked me if I needed help (I sure did!). I asked her if she was familiar with feeding dogs a raw diet, and I was relieved to hear that she actually promotes a raw diet for dogs. She had her purse on her shoulder, so I knew she was getting ready to leave but she still helped me out with recommendations and answered some of my questions. After she left, I still had a few questions that I was wishing I asked her.. then another very sweet employee must have seen the confusion on my face and asked if I needed assistance. I talked with her for a while, she was also extremely informative! I am very grateful I found this place! Feeding my dog a raw diet is going to be pretty expensive (however, I find it to be ENTIRELY worth every penny) and she let me know about their loyalty program. Buy 12 get 1 free! I wish I knew the names of the women that helped me, but unfortunately I don't. I don't know about these bad reviews but I have been going here since July of this year when I moved to the area and they have Acana which is the dog food I have to get for my allergic pups and it's the best! They always have someone to give me advice if I ever have a question and their staff is always so helpful and the groomers are fantastic. The two negative complaints I've seen are about silly little things that could happen anywhere and are outliers in situations that would never happen on a day to day basis. I always discourage people from coming into this shop. It's a cute place in the shopping center, and incredibly convenient. But the staff has never been friendly - very blunt and rude, and I always feel like I'm interrupting something by entering the shop. When my Old English sheepdog had some upset stomach issues, I stopped in to look for something to help. A staff member (note: I'm correcting this...because no - I am not sure that it was the owner. The owner wrote in her response to my review that she suggests getting my facts straight, as it is "grounds for a lawsuit." Though her response justs seems to confirm the comment on blunt and rude staff...) told me that if I was going to feed my dog "road kill" (Purina Pro Plan, given to me by the breeder) then nothing in the shop would help me. When I had my pup groomed here, at less than 6 months old, the groomer didn't let him out to potty for the 4+ hours he was there. (Another "get my facts straight to avoid lawsuits" note: No, I didn't stand in the back with him for the entire time my pup was there, but the groomer was unable to tell me when my pup went potty last... After he lectured me about not brushing my dog's hair every day). I avoid this place, and happily go down the street or across the road for better service. If you glance at my other reviews, you'll see that I'm a picky pup parent. This place did not meet any of my expectations. But it is a cute looking store. This is a weird little place. The staff there is gossipy and insular and gives the impression that they are doing YOU the favor of taking your money. The last time I had my pet groomed there I was told by a new groomer that I was being charged $15 more for the same service than other similarly situated clients. And that this had gone on for years. I asked this person why and if my pet was difficult. The employee did not understand why and said my pet was very pleasant and tolerant especially compared to other animals. I asked the manager who immediately became defensive, did not want to hear my concerns, then told me not to return. I will oblige her. read more

Upon my second visit to this groomer (just moved to this part of CLT), I had my small older palmchi groomed. I asked if any issues she said she cut one of his moles. When getting him home she had cut several that are taking a long time to heal. The groom cut itself was also very uneven. He has had moles for over 6 years and get him groomed regularly. I am not sure why there are so many negative reviews about this place. Yes it can be a little pricey but it's in Ballantyne, everything is pricey in this part of town. As far as grooming, they are the most affordable place around. Every other place wants $75 plus for my golden, here I only pay $55 and she comes out looking beautiful, smelling awesome, and super soft. My dog gets very excited and almost gives herself a heart attack with all the excitement every time she comes into the store, and the staff and groomers are never anything short of great when dealing with her. The groomers give her the attention that she wants and that calms her right down. They are fast and efficient and they always do a good job. read more

Love this place! With all the stuff in the news about needles in dog food and pet food causing cancer it's good to know that our fur babies are healthy! The owner is great! In fact I found a dog on the greenway a while back, he was dirty, his foot was all bloody and he was so skinny! I stopped by to get my dog some food on the way home and when I told them about the poor guy I found they offered to give him a bath, they wrapped his bloody foot and sent me with a free bag of food for him!(I found his family and took him home a few days later) They are just really care about the wellbeing of animals!! read more

This store is for people who truly love their animals. They carry only the best products on the market. The owner is very educated and passionate about animal welfare. She only carries the best....but it comes at a price. Her prices are in line though. We've shopped around online and on Amazon. She also offers a rewards program where you earn cash back and free bags of dog food. We have been shopping at this store since they opened. If it weren't for the excellent advice from Diana (the owner) our dog would have passed away by now. Our vet didin't even know what to do. I'm so grateful to have this store in our neighborhood.
