Last meal on the island, did not disappoint. We got a table quickly but after waiting about 15 minutes we moved to the bar. There was live music and the bartenders were awesome! I had a burger with onion rings, hubs had the mahi mahi fish and chips. Both meals were excellent. The burger was cooked perfect and the amount of fish you got in the fish and chips seemed like the best deal on the island! This place was great! You walk up past the pool (which is beautiful) to the restaurant, and all seating is outside. Friendly and fast service. We ordered the kids pancakes, French toast with lilikoi cream, and the breakfast burrito with linguica. All delicious! The Staff was very nice but all the fish was all previously frozen, luckily I asked. I got the short rib which was fine but not what I was looking for, the veggie stir fry was all frozen veggies and mostly peppers on rice. Our first morning in Koloa, we walked from the Sheraton resort down to Holoholo for our first loco moco for this trip. We were seated immediately, greeted kindly, and both ordered a loco moco. Very generous patty size, with crisp onions served on top which was probably my favorite touch. While the patty was generous and cooked as I requested, the flavor was pretty standard. My family had breakfast here and it was expensive and disappointing. Firstly, our server just seemed unpleasant, like I felt afraid to ask any questions about the menu because of how visibly full of attitude she was. I ordered the french toast and it was not bread slices like every french toast I have ever seen in my life, but instead it was two oddly shaped wedges of bread that obviously couldn't be properly french toastified because of their irregular shape. The bread also was full of weird things, not a normal bread by any means. I couldn't even eat it, it was not good. The pineapples on it were gross too. The coffee was also just bad and watered down, very tasteless. My kids had the pancakes and they were pretty standard but dry because they are super stingy with the maple syrup given with the breakfast dishes. Toward the end of our meal our kids were still eating and the staff started to just get really pushy about trying to get us to leave, like excessively clearing the table and asking if we are just hanging out? No, some of us are still eating! They took my son's plate and I don't think he was even done. It just came off as very rude how they tried to rush us out to give our table to the next people. read more

We dined at the Koloa Landing Pool Restaurant (Holoholo Grill) on May 24. The staff was very nice and the attentive and the atmosphere was equally pleasant overlooking the award-winning pool. The filet minion was tender and cooked med rare as we requested. The only disappointment we had was when we reported an invasive African giant snail next to our table. Even though the waitress explained it would be removed after they closed, it was a bit stressful for my wife during the meal. I would recommend this restaurant as a great place to grab a high-quality meal in Poi Pu. read more

Stayed at Kōloa Landing and kept coming back to the HoloHolo Grill bar while using the pool and hot tub--Anthony and Dustin made the experience awesome. They were friendly, fast, and spot-on with drink recs. My two favorites: the Man-lada (a piña colada with Hennessy--trust me, it works) and a Cadillac margarita with lilikoi that was perfectly balanced. We didn't eat much, but the chicken nachos hit the spot, and both the brookie and the lava cake were exactly what we needed after long days in the sun. Restaurant is located on vacation property with pool out front. A little hard to find if you are not staying there. Service was good. Friendly waitstaff Artichoke dip was ok. This sounds bad, but a bit too much crab. I never thought I'd say that! Poke bowl was fine. Market fish was Ahi and a good presentation. The strawberry salad was good if not a bit heavy on the dressing. The fish & chips were fine although a bit too much batter. We went early (5pm on a Monday) after a full day of travel from the mainland. I think we were all starving and a bit more forgiving overall. I normally don't leave reviews, but I feel like this needs to be said. The food here was decent, but the experience was extremely uncomfortable due to one of the staff members. There was a girl working, Karrianne, who was very openly flirting with my husband right in front of me, smiling excessively, lingering at our table, and making unnecessary comments that felt completely unprofessional. I understand being friendly to customers, but there's a clear line between good service and inappropriate behavior, and this crossed it. It made what should've been a nice meal feel awkward and disrespectful. Management might want to address professionalism with staff, because situations like this can easily drive customers away. I hope this was just a one-time issue, but it definitely left a bad impression. read more

But I think it's worth it:) I really like their pog mimosa and hubs said the Bloody Mary was delicious! I think they had a great breakfast! I got the steak and eggs. Came here after traveling all day and wanting something close to the resort we stayed at. We ordered the burger, the poke bowl and the kids chicken tenders. After reading many of the reviews we were unsure of what kind of quality we would get. The food came out relatively quickly and was good. Burger was cooked medium with some pink how we requested it. Burger also has a sweet jam that's pretty tasty. Fries were pretty standard but came out slightly cold. Poke bowl had good flavor and was a really good sized portion. Fish tasted fresh and didn't have any fishy taste. Kids tenders were pretty standard and our 2 year old took a couple bites which is a win in our book. Service was overall ok but slightly slow. Disappointing fodder at a hotel trough. The Spicy Mango-rita was a sweet concoction with zero alcohol. Calamari was overcooked, lacked seasoning, and was served not with an aioli, but ketchup. My blackened ahi was a thin, soft, textureless, flavorless cut. Add in a scoop of dry, sticky rice, two overcooked carrots and two slim asparagus spears, and wow, bon appétit. And we were in and out of there in half an hour, because of a push to order and quickly move through the meal. Restaurant ratings don't mean much. read more

It's a great outdoor setting- I always sit at the bar - just because I know the bartenders and they are ON it with service and humor. But also- the wait staff have a great system and they treat you like family too. Highlight menu options: loooove the tomato jam on the burger-best burger on the Southside. Love the salads- great light options with delicious dressings. Fish tacos are light and perfect amount of spice- sometimes they will do Baja style if you want that crunch. Great ambiance as the hotel restaurant was right next to the magnificent multi layer pool, brilliantly lit at night. Only problem was finding the place, as quite a hike from the street entrance to the restaurant. Service was slow both for food delivery and credit card transaction. Some pricey items not on the menu include the $40 ahi tuna, and the $45 mahi mahi fish of the day. May as well go to Keoki's Paradise a few minutes down the road for those same dishes for $39. My sister ordered the $24 Hawaiian poke bowl, with the sauces on the side. Good amount of raw ahi tuna which she liked. Wife's $33 vegetable stir fry with shrimp had rice as the starch, with four shrimp with tails on mixed in with vegetables in a too sweet a sauce. My $28 fish and chips was massive in quantity, with three of the largest fillets of white fish ever. Unfortunately the fish itself was tasteless, and the fried exterior didn't add that much flavor, even with the mismatched pineapple based tartar sauce. The unsalted fries were the star of the evening, with my sister and my wife eating them nonstop off my plate. Thin and tasty, even with no salt, although the others dipped them in ketchup. Took forever for the credit card transaction to come through. Restaurant behind the times, with waiters using mobile electronic credit card readers at tables the norm in other restaurants, and common in Canada a decade ago. Very casual poolside restaurant at the Kōloa Landing Resort. We were not planning on eating here but tried it as we had a resort credit. Overall, our first meal was so good that we ended up having dinner here twice. All staff members we encountered were friendly. Our server (Star) for our second dinner was exceptionally pleasant and helpful. Restaurant has a full bar. Cocktails both nights were excellent. Menu was varied and reasonably priced for a resort. Breakfast and lunch also served ( although we only tried dinner). Ample free parking even if you're not staying at the resort. Restaurant exceeded our expectations. We waited a very long time (and probably would have left but it's one of the only food options open late) for someone to come but then our food came pretty quickly. The burger here was pretty good and we enjoyed the kale and arugula salad w chicken- although there was wayyyy too much dressing. So onolicious!!!! Holoholo Grill is always a must when I visit Kauai. I have only had breakfast there but will definitely be trying lunch and/or dinner next year. It is located outside by the pool. One area is covered and the other isn't. They also have a bar. It's a nice outdoorsy atmosphere. Their service has always been great there. They are very friendly and they all seem to work as a team which is nice to see. Their loco moco is one of my favorites on the island. The meat is seasoned just right and there is always SO much food you can't finish it! The banana macadamia nut pancakes are soft, fluffy and amazing! I couldn't stop eating it even though I was already full!! And I don't even like bananas!!!! I can't wait to go try lunch and dinner!!!! read more

Located at the resort with a very nice pool situation, they call your name when ready to be seated. It took no time to get a table at 8:45am on a Sunday. Had the fruit plate which was spectacular even for Hawaii, with a large slice of very ripe and delicious papaya. The avocado toast was plenty for me, tasty and fresh. Thanks HoloHolo! Had the grilled fresh catch tuna prepared as I requested to just be seared. Ambience is fairly basic but lots of plants and birds! One of the worst meals we had in over a week in Kauai. I had the Ahi Sashimi appetizer, hubby had the calamari. The sashimi was ok, hubby thought the calamari was straight from Cisco. As a main course, I got the poke (no mixed greens, no cucumber and made sure they knew that I was gluten free (so no onions for me). The poke was drenched in an aioli that was more mayonnaise than flavor, the rice had some kind of seasoning (?)/sesame mixed in. I still felt compelled to add salt. They put an entire avocado on top... it didn't taste like much though. Hubby ordered the chicken flatbread, and between us, he could have easily put away the entire thing. But he barely ate half, he said the chicken was dry and he wasn't enjoying it. We really didn't eat much, to the point that when we were done, they offered to go boxes, which we declined (to the server's surprise.) However, we were never asked if we enjoyed our meal. Not once. I ordered a hot tea to drink, and when the tea I asked for wasn't available, the server dumped the bags that were available and told me that I could choose what I wanted. What I wanted was something without caffeine, not what they had. The ambiance... it's literally pool side. So if you want to wander by and listen to kids screaming while you have dinner, this is for you. You can also sit immediately adjacent to the pool bar and have kids running in wet pool trunks right next to you. Not for me. I'm not going to be coming back. read more

We were hoping that we had a breakfast/brunch but I guess it was a little bit too late for that lol anyways we got seated with no wait time on the restaurant is an outdoors restaurant located next to the pool at one of the Marriott hotel chains by the beach side. Our waitress is cool and I told her that I wanted some thing to eat with rice ha ha. She recommended the garlic chicken bites with a side order of rice. I think that they have an opportunity to improve their lunch menu. The lunch menu is definitely easy to read, but a little too easy to read, that it just felt limited. Their screwdriver that I ordered was not on the menu, but obviously it was easy to make but they had different types of vodka, and I chose the homegrown Kauai brand vodka to complement my garlic chicken bites. The highlight of our food was definitely the coconut shrimp. The shrimps are huge crusted with Panko with its homemade coconut dipping sauce, and that was delicious. Although I wasn't able to try it, my partner enjoyed his fish tacos as well. I even enjoyed the truffle fries although it was a little bit too oily that some of the fries were soggy at the bottom. Overall, we enjoyed our experience at Holoholo grill, but what I think I would come back here for is only the coconut shrimp, which was the star dish of the day. read more

Loco Moco review #3636363. Let's call this one the gourmet Loco Moco. You get a grass fed beef patty, gravy, crispy onions, two eggs, and a wasabi aioli (which I opted for on the side. The eggs were cooked to the perfection, the gravy was rich and balanced, and the wasabi aioli was a nice touch to cut all the richness, but I'm glad I got that on the side because I didn't want it in every bite. The meat was a tad over cooked, closer to a medium well. That and the hefty price tag of $23 knocked it down a bit for me. Smiley's still take the crown for me, but this was solid. read more
