I had heard wonderful things about this place. I was excited to try it and see for myself. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my expectations. The service was very poor. Our server seemed to be extremely busy, which is understandable but she was not the most attentive, and it felt as though it was too much to ask for a refill, order an app, anything. The food was extremely underwhelming. The filet was not a good cut of meet, under seasoned. The pricing of the restaurant wasn't high so perhaps take with that what you will. Since wait time was only a hour and they accepted reservations, we decided to give them a try. The waitress was very accommodating and our food was served fairly quickly. Our party ate hamburger steak, steak filet, ribeye, shrimp scampi, and the barbecue platter. We were all very pleased with our meal except for the shrimp scampi! The seasoning on the scampi left a lot to be desired. The hamburger steak was seasoned very well but was a little small for an average man. But the barbecue platter was on point. My husband and I came here yesterday for lunch in celebration of my husbands birthday ! Neither of us were impressed with either of our meals ! Husband ordered the steak and he ordered medium rare and his steak was alittle chewy - could of been more tender and full of flavor which it lacked , I ordered the chicken broccoli Alfredo and the broccoli was mostly stems Infact I make a better Alfredo sauce at home ! I've driven past this place multiple times over the years, but never stopped to try it out. This time I happened to be staying in a hotel close by so we stopped in. We only had to wait about 15 minutes on a table. The restaurant was pretty busy for a Tuesday night. We were seated and our server took our drink order within just a few moments and gave us time to check out the menu. I ordered the ribeye with a house salad & baked sweet potato. My brother ordered the deluxe chicken sandwich with fries. Our food took a while to come out. Our server checked on us a couple times and asked if there was anything we needed. Unfortunately there was little we needed until we got our food. The atmosphere in the restaurant was quite loud. I had a hard time hearing the server and I think the opposite was true as well. I did receive my salad and was able to finish it before the rest of the food arrived. My brother said his chicken sandwich was really good and the fries were fine. I didn't get a picture of his sandwich but it was kind of sad looking. I'm not sure what I think needed done to make a chicken sandwich look more appealing, but it tasted good and that's more important. My sweet potato came with butter, brown sugar & cinnamon and it was excellent. Wish I could say the same for the steak. While it was cooked perfectly (I ordered medium) and was very juicy, it just had no flavor. I had to ask for steak sauce to make it tastier. If my steak had good flavor and this wasn't in tourist area where there's so many other restaurants to choose from, I would probably give this place another chance. We went before it had such good reviews, but we were very disappointed in the quality of food. My mom had the chicken fried steak and it was so salty she couldn't eat it, even the mash potatoes were very salty. I ordered the shrimp and flounder, it absolutely no flavor because there was no seasoning. The side of broccoli also had no seasoning. The best part of my dish was the rice. Bland will be a theme throughout everything we tried. The dipping sauce was sweet. Sliders: More bread than steak, makes you feel like they rationed you. Steak was bland and so was the Au Jus. Nachos: Star of the show. Huge portion, chicken didn't have flavor and the chili needed some salt... this was still the most flavorful dish. The restaurant was nice inside. This is like an upscale Applebees, but the food and service is much better and you don't have that sticky floor. Seriously, Holston's is a great restaurant with good food, great service, and a very nice and welcoming atmosphere. We asked some locals where they go out to eat and that would have a little bit of everything on the menu, especially since we have a picky eater in the family. They recommended Holston's and Pottery House Cafe (that review is my next one). Holston's was great from the beginning. You walk in to two friendly hostesses that greeted us and immediately sat us. This is our experience from the two times we visited. Our servers for both experiences were terrific. They were helpful with suggestions, personable, and always smiling and willing to make our dining experience a rememberable one. The only thing I didn't care for here was the spinach and artichoke dip. I love the bread bowl but the dip made of three cheeses, some chopped up artichoke hearts and some spinach just wasn't my favorite. Don't get me wrong, I ate it. There's starving people all over the world. The last thing I want to do is let food go to waste if I ordered it. We had the ribs with fried okra and homemade potato chips along with a side of blue cheese dressing to dip the chips in. The ribs were perfectly smoked. The meat peeled off the bone with no effort at all. The okra was fresh and tasty. The Philly Cheesesteak was really good. Got it with the onion rings, though they are frozen, they are the beer battered ones and taste great. The French dip was also very good. Lastly, the patty melt is really good too. I asked for the patty melt on sourdough bread instead of the rye and the took care of it for me. They made something special for my son because he is picky. So they made up an order of the penne pasta, paneed chicken (pounded and fried chicken breast), and Alfredo sauce on the side. He ate every bite of it. We didn't save room for dessert. It is a great restaurant for both casual outings or dinner dates. It provides a nice outing atmosphere without outrageous prices, and the staff and service are great. There's a wide variety of dishes to choose from, so it's rare to not find something that will do your belly good. The catfish plate was alright. Nothing that stood out but nothing to complain about. There was a crispy breading, and the meat was tender to the bite. Unfortunately, they were out of homemade tarter sauce, so im not sure if the sauce would have taken the fish to another level. While the sweet potato fries were a little on the small side, they still were flavorful. The slaw lacked a bit of flavor, though. Perhaps it could have used a bit of salt. The country fried chicken was good paired with mashed potatoes and gravy. However, the mac and cheese was just ok, and I probably won't order it again. But the sweet potato soufflè was incredible! We where there tonight. It was a terrible experience. The staff was inexperienced. The kitchen was overwhelmed. We ordered the Chopped Steak medium temp. It came out very well done. It was just a 1/4 hamburger with gravy and onions. Not good. The mixed green salad was iceberg lettuce. lol. The Hawiian ribeye over cooked and Teriyaki sauce on it. And the chicken parm. Wow. We don't even know what that was. It was terrible. It was linguine and tortellini? Like why? A chicken patty with tomato sauce and then they dumped some type of Alfredo sauce on it. Inedible. Holston's Kitchen is home to not only some of the worst service in the area, it is also the home of some of the laziest and foul tasting food in the area. We will get to that, let's start with the service: For some reason we had two waiters though there was only a few other tables, the main server heckled everybody at the table about their ID's (we are originally from Texas, moved here a year ago) to the point our veteran father was denied alcohol outright, and when we finally got our drinks they had absolutely zero alcohol in them at all. Just club soda, mint, and blueberry. No alcohol in the alcoholic beverages ordered. The server was unfriendly and only came by my table to deliver food while we watched him check on the table behind us multiple times throughout their meal. Literally dropping plates of food in front of guests and walking away like we weren't even there. Now we can talk about the "food." The "smash" burgers were unbelievably dry and contained brisket hard enough to chip a tooth it was nigh inedible. Out of every shrimp scampi I've tried this had to have been one of the worst, from the smell emanating from the plate it was on to the almost quarter inch thick layer of just butter in the bowl it was not great I daresay red lobster has better shrimp scampi and that's rough for me to say. The chicken fettuccine was seemingly alright as my little brother described it as "tasting just like grandmas frozen dinners!" The biggest tragedy was the "sour cream & chile con queso" enchiladas that were served with absolutely zero form of sour cream and, instead, came topped with literal velveeta cheese. Not an imitation not something trying to be fancy and failing, but actual velveeta cheese on my enchiladas and it was honestly terrible to the point I only ate the chicken from my enchiladas and nothing on the plate. In a restaurant that claims to be higher class than McDonald's, I've never been served beans as dry and tasteless as the ones here at holstons! The rice was not quite inedible but it was almost certainly boxed rice with no care or thought put into the preparation. The rice was simply orange slop on a plate situated next to a block of velveeta cheese and beans dry enough make you need more than one glass of water (which you will not receive unless you're lucky) or an actual drink to wash it down (which you will also not receive). Overall holstons appears to be a nice restaurant but after eating there once, I can tell it is certainly not all it is cracked up to be in the slightest. Maybe other food from here is better but I don't know if I'll ever come to find out. read more

While visiting Pigeon Forge my wife and I picked this spot tonight. This restaurant is very clean and well put together. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken by our awesome waitress. We ordered the fried green tomatoes for an appetizer and it was amazing. My wife ordered the salmon and I had the fried catfish. Our food came out quickly and tasted amazing as well. They make their own tartar sauce and it was phenomenal with my fish and french fries. We met a friend for lunch at Holston's. It was our first time eating there since moving here from Illinois 2 months ago. Our server was very helpful and friendly. The ambiance is a little dated, but I loved the fireplaces set up outside. The deep fried avocado app was delicious, as were our meals. My friend loved her patty melt. We have been to this location 3 times with the most recent being early August 2021. We really enjoy eating here overall the food is good, decor is nice, and the service is excellent. This trip the hubby had the chicken fajitas and added shrimp. The fajitas here are excellent (I know because I steal a bite or two LOL) very good seasoning and very tender meats. We have tried the the Supreme that has steak, chicken and shrimp and all the proteins are very good, the shrimp is ok for sitting in East Tennessee ;) I love the Avocado Festa -fresh avocado, shredded chicken, cheddar and jack cheese, deep fried in tempura batter served on salsa verde and ranchero sauce. This is a classic Southern tradition where we have taken something perfectly healthy, stuffed it with cheese and deep fried it and made it delicious. The tempura batter fries up light and crisp and is a lovey counterpart to the warm creamy avocado. Their beer selection is good. You can check in on line see where you are in the line and show up when your table is ready...LOVE THIS! Make sure you check in when you get to the restaurant so they know you are there. read more

We were in town for a convention this week. Friends of ours were raving about how good Holston's Kitchen is, that they really enjoyed it, so we decided to try it for ourselves. Sadly we did not have the same experience they did. We arrived at 4pm on a Wednesday & were seated almost immediately. The ambiance was nice, looked classy enough. The restaurant was not crowded in any sense & there were seemingly a lot of employees working at that time. We sat for 8 minutes before our server even acknowledged that we were there, while 2 hosts at check in carried on personal conversations & other servers passed us by. We ordered our drinks & asked if we could go ahead & order. Our server seemed annoyed with that but I ordered a sirloin steak with baked potato & my wife got the Chicken Marsala. Thirteen minutes later, our server brought out the salads. They were fine, typical restaurant salad, no issues. A short while later, our food arrived. My steak was done fairly close to my requested level of doneness. It was ok, reminiscent of Logan's or Longhorn. The chimichurri butter was ok. The baked potato was fine, typical restaurant style baked potato. My wife's dish however was abysmal. Her Chicken Marsala, according to the menu, was "sautéed chicken cutlets, wild mushrooms,marsala sauce." The chicken cutlets were odd, it's almost like they took chicken breast, ran it through a commercial meat tenderizer & didn't trim it because there was fat & connective tissue all throughout. The mushrooms were more like canned or jarred Green Giant mushrooms, kind of mushy. The sauce was an absolute fail. It literally tasted like Heinz brown gravy with a heavy dose of cooking sherry mixed in to try to pass off as Marsala sauce. It was a dark brown, it was really thick like a gravy & just wasn't much good at all. I tasted it to affirm my wife's opinion on the dish. She ate a few of the mushrooms & some of the non-fatty chicken but left most of it behind. We eat Chicken Marsala fairly frequently & know how it's supposed to taste, this was not it. Back in the car, she ate some protein bars we had packed with us on our trip since her dinner was completely unsatisfactory. We had extremely high hopes for Holston's Kitchen but now we know to avoid it when we return in December. We can forgive bad service if the food is good. We can forgive average food if the service is good. When both are awful, it's a write off. We were passed over several times, customers who were seated after us were greeted before us & received their orders before us as well. Our server checked on us once during the meal & then just brought the check the second time. We were never offered any type of bread or rolls or anything, not sure if they are offered or not, but it wouldn't have mattered anyway because we didn't feel like we should have even been there in the first place. A very nice choice on the quieter end of Sevierville, still packed by 530p. More upscale but with choices from steaks to turkey sandwiches. We chose to go lighter with the turkey club and citrus chicken salad entrees. The club had a nice cranberry Mayo and a generous portion of turkey, bacon, etc. the entree salad would have satisfied a lunch portion but a bit small for dinner. Still, a very nice mixture of fruits, a cinnamon tortilla and candied pecans. Saved room for their popular dessert, the warm Orange cake with a glaze and ala mode. My Mind was thinking a summer type dessert but this was not that. It was a dense, spiced gingerbread flavor. But believe me, we LOVED it!! Very rich and filling. Splitting is plenty.
