Call to make a reservation and even spoke to the male James in his purple button down host after being hung up on by someone else in the restaurant in order to get on their "wait list". Upon arrival 10 minutes early. We were fed some bogus misleading explanation on the difference between a reservation and wait list by the host aka Manager In Training James or Jimmy, while taking our information again. The incompetence and service of the James was horrible. Change jobs you are horrible as a host finding out hes the manager in training makes it worse. He had the kitchen manager Drew come out to speak with me and he was very understanding. James or Jimmy you are a bad manager in training. We had a good experience. Atmosphere is cool: dark, brick, just the right splash of decorations and lights to be classy without being kitsch. Food was good. I would not recommend the milkshake from the kids' menu; it wasn't made with ice cream, but rather with cream and chipped ice. Didn't taste terribly good or rich. Everything else was great. Service was good. We were in a large party, so several of our items came out wrong, but the server, James, was very courteous, laughed it off (in a good way), and had it all fixed within five minutes. I went for lunch on Friday. The salad is really good. We got the chicken parm and fettuccine Alfredo and bbq chicken sandwich. The chicken parm was good. The Alfredo had no taste. Let's start with the housekeeping. The bathrooms are clean. The dining area is very clean. The staff is super friendly. We sat outside on a beautiful afternoon for lunch. We had a server who provided a lot of dining options and was very attentive. My colleague chose the chicken and biscuits. The comment was they were very good. I went with the servers recommendation of fish and chips. Let's start by saying they give you plenty of food. The fish was quite good. It was cod. It was fried but not overly so. You get a ton of french fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw and fries were very good. The fries were not at all greasy. Came by for lunch, was highly pleased. The menu is simple but from what I can tell it's all scratch and amazing. The wife had the open faced roast beef which was huge and tasted fresh. I had the chopped steak which is a simple dish but can be ruined very easily, mine was amazing. Wow we love this place! We sat at the bar with Melissa as the bartender. She was so friendly and made great recommendations. The restaurant was so clean, decorated nicely and a cozy ambiance that also felt high end. The food was amazing! And came out perfectly timed with appetizers. To put it in perspective, I had a much better steak at Joe's Crab Shack the next night. The loaded potato soup was good though! My mother-in-law is local, so we have dinner out in Sevierville at least every other week. We haven't been to Holston's in a few years but decided to give it a try today. We remembered why we haven't been here in years. At the outset, I'd like to say that our server was perfectly fine. However, our experience at the hostess stand and with management started the evening in a deficit. Five of our party of seven arrived at 3:30, but they refused to seat us despite that my elderly mother-in-law was clearly uncomfortable and that the restaurant was essentially empty. I could have understood this if the restaurant been busy, but it was not. We asked to speak to a manager to make an exception, but she did not arrive until after we were seated. She then said it was "corporate policy" and was incredibly condescending. If it had just been me and my husband, we would have left. No one wanted to try somewhere else, so we stayed. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not sure if the kitchen vents weren't working or what, but greasy kitchen smells permeated the air. My mother-in-law commented several times that it smelled like they were burning food. The dessert was clearly frozen/premade. We typically visit Seasons 101 or Pinchy's, and now I know why. We won't be back. Give Holston's a pass. read more

Some friends and I stopped into have lunch at this restaurant. We were visiting from out of town and they're celebrating one of my friends birthday. The restaurant is very nice on the outside, and when you got inside, the lighting was very moody in a good way, it felt like a, nice upscale restaurant but with a cabin twist. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. We all had a lot of questions since we had never been before and she gave us some great recommendations. Almost everyone got the whiskey Bent burger except one person and they got the teriyaki ribeye. I was wrong. Being from Indianapolis I had no idea what a Holstons was. It gives Johnny Cariños meets O'Charleys as far as food goes but does have a nice atmosphere. I ordered the pesto pasta and it was so bland I needed up adding another 2-3 tsp with of pepper to it just to be able to eat it. The kiddo had salmon and it was okay. Hubby ordered the friend shrimp and it was 50/50 breading to shrimp ratio and super salty. Our waiter, bless his heart, seemed like it was his first night working.
