I would not recommend the milkshake from the kids' menu; it wasn't made with ice cream, but rather with cream and chipped ice. Didn't taste terribly good or rich. Everything else was great. Service was good. We were in a large party, so several of our items came out wrong, but the server, James, was very courteous, laughed it off (in a good way), and had it all fixed within five minutes. Man I really enjoy this place. Yet today has put a bad taste in my mouth. Call to make a reservation and even spoke to the male James in his purple button down host after being hung up on by someone else in the restaurant in order to get on their "wait list". I provided all my information to the host James and confirmed my time of arrival and when to be expected as we had a party of 9 and their website would not allow us to reserve or wait with any party above 8. Upon arrival 10 minutes early. We were fed some bogus misleading explanation on the difference between a reservation and wait list by the host aka Manager In Training James or Jimmy, while taking our information again. The incompetence and service of the James was horrible. Change jobs you are horrible as a host finding out hes the manager in training makes it worse. He had the kitchen manager Drew come out to speak with me and he was very understanding. James or Jimmy you are a bad manager in training. Kitchen manager Drew even recalled us making the reservation and James could not own up to the fact he didn't do his job as he said over the phone you'd take care of us. During our wait and visit after becoming verbally irrate with me and securing an actual manager. He avoided us. We came here and it was about a 30 minute wait so we just sat at the bar and ate which was great. The service was good and the vibe was super chill surprisingly based on the outside. You can join the waitlist online which is a very convenient feature. Everything here was pretty good. The ranchero flatbread was delicious. Let's start with the housekeeping. The bathrooms are clean. The dining area is very clean. The staff is super friendly. We sat outside on a beautiful afternoon for lunch. We had a server who provided a lot of dining options and was very attentive. My colleague chose the chicken and biscuits. The comment was they were very good. I went with the servers recommendation of fish and chips. Let's start by saying they give you plenty of food. The fish was quite good. It was cod. It was fried but not overly so. You get a ton of french fries and coleslaw. The coleslaw and fries were very good. The fries were not at all greasy. They have their own house made tartar sauce, which I found different but very good. Strong recommendation for the sweet tea as well. My mother-in-law is local, so we have dinner out in Sevierville at least every other week. We haven't been to Holston's in a few years but decided to give it a try today. We remembered why we haven't been here in years. At the outset, I'd like to say that our server was perfectly fine. However, our experience at the hostess stand and with management started the evening in a deficit. Five of our party of seven arrived at 3:30, but they refused to seat us despite that my elderly mother-in-law was clearly uncomfortable and that the restaurant was essentially empty. I could have understood this if the restaurant been busy, but it was not. We asked to speak to a manager to make an exception, but she did not arrive until after we were seated. She then said it was "corporate policy" and was incredibly condescending. If it had just been me and my husband, we would have left. No one wanted to try somewhere else, so we stayed. The food was mediocre at best. I'm not sure if the kitchen vents weren't working or what, but greasy kitchen smells permeated the air. My mother-in-law commented several times that it smelled like they were burning food. The dessert was clearly frozen/premade. We typically visit Seasons 101 or Pinchy's, and now I know why. Came by for lunch, was highly pleased. The menu is simple but from what I can tell it's all scratch and amazing. The wife had the open faced roast beef which was huge and tasted fresh. I had the chopped steak which is a simple dish but can be ruined very easily, mine was amazing. Our server Josh was courteous and on point (came by to check up on us twice) In conclusion Holston did not disappoint Will be back and highly recommend. For the table we had Caesar salads with lite dressing, it was Caesar soup, completely drowned. Did not eat. The potato soup is a cup of grainy mashed potatoes, the texture was off putting. Wow we love this place! We sat at the bar with Melissa as the bartender. She was so friendly and made great recommendations. The restaurant was so clean, decorated nicely and a cozy ambiance that also felt high end. The food was amazing! And came out perfectly timed with appetizers. To put it in perspective, I had a much better steak at Joe's Crab Shack the next night. The loaded potato soup was good though! The restaurant is very nice on the outside, and when you got inside, the lighting was very moody in a good way, it felt like a, nice upscale restaurant but with a cabin twist. Our waitress was absolutely amazing. We all had a lot of questions since we had never been before and she gave us some great recommendations. Almost everyone got the whiskey Bent burger except one person and they got the teriyaki ribeye. I myself kept going back-and-forth between the ribeye and the burger, but decided since it was the afternoon I didn't want to eat super heavy and have a ribeye. The food is a decent price. Right in the middle wasn't too expensive at all. They even surprised my friend with this large piece of chocolate cake for her birthday that we all got to share. I ordered the pesto pasta and it was so bland I needed up adding another 2-3 tsp with of pepper to it just to be able to eat it. The kiddo had salmon and it was okay. Hubby ordered the friend shrimp and it was 50/50 breading to shrimp ratio and super salty. Our waiter, bless his heart, seemed like it was his first night working. Since wait time was only a hour and they accepted reservations, we decided to give them a try. The waitress was very accommodating and our food was served fairly quickly. Our party ate hamburger steak, steak filet, ribeye, shrimp scampi, and the barbecue platter. We were all very pleased with our meal except for the shrimp scampi! The seasoning on the scampi left a lot to be desired. The hamburger steak was seasoned very well but was a little small for an average man. But the barbecue platter was on point.
