I got the #3 for lunch, it has chicken breast, gyro meat, rice, a salad, and hummus all for $7. The meat is perfectly marinated and cooked. It tastes fresh and healthy. At dinner they have a different menu so you kind of have to pick through it little harder than lunch. I've tried the appetizer combo just to try it and I probably wouldn't get it again. The food was good, but there's a lot of it if you're not sharing. I've had the walnut baklava and the pistachio one and both were good. This place is so good! Go give it a try! read more

I called a week ago and made a reservation for a group of 25 people and told them, I'd call the following Monday to update the total. When I called to update, I was told I had to talk to manager. In the meantime, I mentioned it was a Church group. When I called and spoke to the manager, I was told they did not want the group after all. This place was so amazing! It was my first time ever eating here and I had no idea what I was getting myself into. The waiter that we had really helped us navigate through the menu, because my friend and I had no idea what we were ordering. I thought that was super cool of him to sit and kind of help us with our order. Food came out quickly and it was so beautiful the way it was plated that I almost didn't want to touch anything. Another local Lenexa favorite of mine for over 10 years now. In high school I started getting lentil soup in the winters and had it again this past winter. It's still my favorite lentil soup ever! The pita is always fresh! Which our little boy loves to nibble on. Typically our whole family gets a kabob dinner if some sort. The portion is huge and filling and seriously the meat is cooked perfectly! Great spices. Gyro hummus is something we always get as well. Oh and it's hard to just mosey past that baklava without buying every variation. Pistachio seems to still be my favorite! The best part is how the staff remembers my husband and treats us so good. Had lunch here with my dad on Tuesday afternoon. I had the #11 which was gyro meat, rice, pita, salad and hummus and he the #1 which is similar but with chicken shawarma. We both really enjoyed our meal. The staff was friendly and attentive and the restaurant was clean. I think the only negative is there isn't and music or anything playing and there also isn't any dividers between tables so if the place isn't packed with talkative guests you can pretty clearly hear what anyone is talking about. read more

Service - They had a constant flow of people coming in and out. One guy worked the counter, taking orders and transacting business. He was nice and courteous. Fantastic, fresh hummus, gyros, and falafel. The menu is actually pretty simple and straightforward. Lunch is the best time to go. You get the best value. But even at dinner they give you really nice portions and you usually have some you can take home. The restaurant itself is clean. I've always had good service from everyone that works there. Probably more 3.5 stars now - but I'll be back. Pros Stuffed grape leaves are solid - a hint of lemon and served room temp, slightly chilled. The hummus is one of the best I've had in the are. So smooth and served with the soft pita. The kifta is legit. Well spiced and cooked very well. The chicken biryani is my favorite. It's a different flavor than anything I've had at any of the local Indian restaurants, but the flavors are phenomenal. The staff are super nice, and attentive. We were checked on frequently and kindly. Many varieties of baklava! Not super sweet - more of a subtle sweetness. Lentil soup is solid. Cons The lamb was a bit bland and tough. It wasn't bad, just not my favorite lamb that I've had. This was tough because I love lamb and had high hopes. The rice served with the dishes is just "okay." I mean, to be fair - I'm not a gigantic rice fan. Overall They have quite a variety of dishes and are well prepared to serve children as well. Atmosphere: the ambiance when you walk in is more like a fast food restaurant. The entire space that goes into the back gives you a more intimate feel though. The decor is dated. They can accommodate a large group in the back area if needed. You pay up front when you're done. Service: the staff was friendly, not out of their way friendly but nice and respectful. There were no suggestions made or small talk. Food: To start we ordered the combo sampler for one. That was plenty of food for all three of us to share. The stuffed grape leaves were excellent, the hummus was good, so was the pita bread. The falafels were also good and had a nice flavor to them, the outside was crunchy and the inside soft. My husband and I both had the gyro sandwich. The meat was good and tender. It was a typical gyro sandwich so we were not disappointed. The rice was good, nothing special though. Our son had the house soup which is like a split pea and that was very tasty. We finished with the pistachio baklava, that was a disappointment. Went back for my monthly visit to my favorite restaurant (if i lived any closer I would eat there much more often, it's one of the very few things I miss about living in Johnson County). Just wanted to reiterate that the food is still as delicious as it has always been, but now the service is better, too. My previous review detailed a few key visits in which the service wasn't very good. That server has since been let go and replaced by better, more attentive servers :) I hardly have to ask for extra feta anymore, as they remember me and are happy to accommodate my NEED to have feta sprinkled on everything I order. If you've never had feta cheese before, you are definitely missing out......but I digress. Final summation: if you want great food in a laid back atmosphere, Holy Land is the place to be. read more

I ordered the lamb biryani, "as hot as you can make it." About 10-15 minutes later, my take out box came and I hit the road. The whole drive home, it smelled delicious. I got home, opened it up, and was amazed at how much came for $9.95. A hearty portion of biryani, some "greek" salad (for lack of a better term), some pita and some tzatziki. The biryani was delicious. Nice and spicy...if you like spice, order it as spicy as you can. It wasn't overwhelming but provided a good kick in my throat. The lamb was plentiful and tender with lots of flavor. Occasionally I slapped it on to some pita and tzatziki which were both very good. The salad and dressing were delicious. I had leftovers due to the portion size, and the next day it was almost better reheated...so good. And the spicy factor kicked up a bit while it was stewing in my fridge overnight...delicious. I'll certainly be back here. Probably to get food to go, but I'll be back here. Definitely a good addition to the often boring Johnson County "ethnic" food scene! read more

I decided to come try their food out with my sister and a friend. The workers were friendly and the menu was small. There are number of combos that you can choose from. They sell mediterranean foods and it was delicious! I think I got the number 10 which was supposed to be spicy chicken and I really liked it. When you're done, you go up to the register to pay. So many dishes here are exceptional. The hummus is the best this reviewer has ever had. The baba ganoush was as good as any I have ever had, as was the chicken shwarma and the lamb kebob. Great grill work on the meat. The cheese philo triangle thingy and the philo cigar-shaped baklava were both fantastic as well. The falafel, tabouleh, pita bread, and stuffed grape leaves were just fine, but not extraordinary. There was some fantastic sauce that came with the shwarma that all the other stuff got dipped in and became excellent. The tzatziki with the lamb was righteous as well. The service is a bit disjointed and we didn't get everything that we ordered - but no one promised you a Swiss restaurant, OK? Also, probably not the best place to hold a B'nai Brith meeting (these folks from the non-Hebrew side of town). But by all means come eat. Large multi-room dining area. My first time trying middle eastern food and I think I'm in love! Stopped in for lunch on a Friday and it was fairly busy. Staff is kind of awkward/ not super friendly, but the food made up for it. The lunch combos are an incredible deal. $6.49 for a huge plate of food. I had #8, which was chicken with creamy sun-dried tomato sauce, hummus, rice, greek salad, and pita. It was fantastic! The sauce was a perfect blend of just enough spice and cream to mix with the rice. Chicken was tender, salad was good, and the hummus was phenomenal. It wasn't the typical gritty kind I am used to buying at the store. It was so smooth and creamy and flavorful...they obviously know what they are doing! I like my pita a little toasted, and this was cold and soft, but that's ok. I probably would have dipped leaves in that hummus and eaten it, it was so good. I tried the falafel appetizer, which wasn't my favorite, but at $2.95 for 4 I can't really complain. Overall, great food for a great price. I will definitely be back. read more
