I've been here a few times. I wish there were a few more items that are traditionally sold at bbq places. But the service has always been great. However we did make a reservation one evening and the restaurant randomly closed for an event and we would have never known unless we made a reservation and saw they canceled it on us the day prior. So I suggest always calling before driving down. The Mac and cheese is great. Love getting the corn bread and brisket empanadas! A great spot when you're around the area to come to! First time and last time customer. I would give zero stars if I could. The worst service I've seen in a very long time. Staff was rude I called last week to make a reservation for a party of 7. When I got to the restaurant, there was no record of it because we were told they only take reservations for 8 or more. Waited 20 minutes to be served, despite several empty tables, both inside and outside. My party of 7 didn't receive our food until we were there for almost an hour and a half, and didn't even get so much as an apology. Not even "sorry for the wait." Now I'd like to say that I feel like I am a BBQ snob. I absolutely loved northern smoke in Carmel and compare everything to it. This place made me miss northern smoke very much I wish they were still in business. Anyway since they went out, if you want wonderful BBQ you can go to the wire mill in Redding CT, that is still my favorite BBQ since northern smoke doesn't exist anymore. This place has very good service. The BBQ brisket was just dry and if I got it again I would have to smother it in the only one BBQ sauce that was on the table. I loved the smashed potatoes and the cornbread was good too but a tiny muffin. My fiancée let me try this baby back ribs which he loved but I thought was just ok. The Mac and cheese was good too. Not gonna lie, I was super amped up to come here after all the things I've heard and it was only an OK type deal. Went for a bday and started off with a couple rounds of flights to taste. Beers were good all in all. Then we had some starters that came out wrong. We didn't ask for fried pickles but decided hey, we will try them anyway. Then the corn fritters were MIA. They finally came out with half the entrees so that was a bit of a waste though they were tasty. Some of the entrees looked good, some looked dry AF. The pulled pork looked like it could double for house insulation. I had the beef brisket melt and it too was so much drier than I was expecting. When I think brisket, I taste juicy goodness, with some fat marbling and its like buttahhhh in my mouth. This was far from it. It was like shredded beef missing that juicy bite and umami-ness. Not a bad trip in the end I suppose and it's very affordable which is great. But I think they need to work on injecting more flavor and moisture into the meats. Hands down this is some of the best BBQ I've ever had. My friend has been promising to take me here for quite a while and we finally got the chance to trek out here. I had a really good cranberry cider to start things off. The craft beer menu is pretty good. The apps for the most part all seemed delicious. We got corn fritters and onion rings, which were both amazing and huge portions of each. The rings were so tasty and not the kind that the onion slips out if the breading and slaps you on the chin. The fritters had a wonderful taste and both were so filling. I'm a bit upset to say that by the time my beef brisket sandwich arrived I barely touched it. The meat was so tender and tasty. They thankfully have an abundance of take home containers. I got beans and Mac & cheese with the sandwich. Both were great. My friend was dying to get the fried vanilla ice cream. Yeah we tried it. It was also huge but so delicious. Drizzled with honey the batter was tasty and the vanilla was great. Awesome BBQ. In for lunch with a couple of friends. Beer selection was extensive - dark, light, IPA and flavoreds - and the staff happily provided taste cups to help you narrow your selection. Over on the food side ribs were ok, but a tad dry. The house-made chourizo sandwich was quite good - very spicy and lots of onions. Service was Ok. The BBQ was nothing to write home about, at least to our limited tasting. I would try it again (and some other choices) if I was in the neighborhood, or for a meal out with friends. read more

My hubby, daughter and parents ate here tonight on Valentines Day because we tried to get into 2 other restaurants in Mahopac without a reservation and it turned out to be a 45+ min wait... To hell with that! We were hungry! We decided to try here because we didnt think they would be very busy. Coming here was great bc there wasnt a wait (i guess ppl don't find BBQ romantic.... More for me!!) I've eaten here a few times before and I know the food is good so I was happy as could be. I ordered the pulled pork meal with BBQ baked beans and Mac n cheese... Originally I wanted the garlic mashed potatoes instead of Mac n cheese but apparently they were out of the mashed potatoes, so that's why I ordered the m&c... I did not care for it. I think the cheese was Parmesan ... Idk whatever it was, it didn't work! Other thank that everything else was great. Pork was juicy and tender, beans were smoky and yummy. For dessert mom and I shared the fried ice cream. It was pretty good but it didnt come out fried like in a Mexican restaurant..... It was the typical Mexican style fried ice cream minus the fire! We came here on a sunny Fall afternoon to sit outside. We were disappointed in both the food and the service. All the food was served ice cold--the ribs, the sandwich, the mac and cheese side--not even an effort to microwave the food, which was obviously left over from Friday night. The membrane had been left on the ribs, and there was hardly any meat on the sandwich. Everything was dry. This place seems to do way more in takeout business than it does in sit down business, so the good news is that you can get a seat in the dining room or at the bar even on a weekend evening. My friend and I stopped in trying to salvage an otherwise dud of a Friday night. We managed to do it here. We split the hot Buffalo wings, which were fresh and tender, not fatty at all, and with just the right amount of spice. I then had the Pastrami Reuben Deluxe, made with bacon and jack cheese, with two sides and a corn muffin. The sandwiches here are the best meal deals. Reservation for 4:30 pm and we had a blast . Very impressive craft beer list, see photos. Pick 3 appetizer to start with fried pickles, quesadillas and onion rings were delicious and incredibly enormous portions. Next I split the home made chorizo and still brought some home! The beef and St. Louis ribs , and the BBQ sauce got the highest praise. Plenty of parking, clean facilities and really friendly service. Minor flaws: lousy cornbread and somewhat dry pulled pork. Just came here for the first time in a few years. Food is still great, the baby back ribs are consistently wonderful; the sides are all amazing. Our favorite was the Mac n cheese and the creamed spinach (mashed potatoes were out). Surprising beer selection for a place tucked away on route 6N. It's definitely worth the trip! To my surprise the ownership has done nothing to improve the parking area that resembles craters on the dark side of the moon, oh and its always comfortable stepping over in ground boulders lol, I asked the staff waitress if she could recommend any lite lager beer, she told me ask bartender she doesn't drink beer. Anyway, wife had half rack smoked ribs and I had Texas brisket sandwich. Both sandwich and ribs were very dry, we had some Thai wings were good. The bartender/waiter was like a zombie on thorazine. Sat on a barstool watching Fox News. When it came time to order he yelled to me from across the bar, and had me yell my order back to him, much to my displeasure and that of the other customers in the bar. As for the food - a combo plate of their "house special" pastrami and brisket was awful. The pastrami was steamed to within an inch of it's life. The brisket, instead of being sliced, came as a pile of shredded remnants. Both were swimming in a pool of watery liquid in the plate. This was school cafeteria stuff. First time at this restaurant and was happily impressed. While not the BBQ of the South, the food was tasty and the staff was very friendly. We started with the Fried Pickles and the Corn Fritters, both are served with a big portion of ranch dressing. For Entrees we had the Buttermilk Fried Chicken and a Full Rack of the St. Louis Ribs. The Fried Chicken is really excellent, I'd come back specifically for this chicken. Yum. The Mac & Cheese was dry but the BBQ Baked Beans were really good. I went up to Putnam Valley to see some friends and we went over to Holy Smoke. Due to a friend of mine having some health issues it is best that he not be indoors with other people so we decided to sit outside. The 2 ladies that were working said we can sit outside but we would not have waitress service so we went inside to place the order and then we went inside to pick up the order and everything was packed as a to go order which i was surprised. Then about 8:20 the girl came outside and said she was locking the door. First of all I am not sure why the server would not have tried to accomodate us and serve our food... there was no one in the restaurant so why wouldn't they want to make a tip. We ordered a few things that we were told they did not have but was on the menu. when the locked the door I asked her where did she want us to put all the garbage of 6 people eating did she want me to take it home... she said just leave it by the door... which amazed me even more ... if we were in the restaurant they would have had to wait until we finished eating dinner... The bill was $165.00 and we had everything put into take out foam boxes .. I order fish and mashed potatoes the mashed potatoes were all over the fish... unbelievable. So disappointed... if I was a server there I would have been more then happy to have accomodated a party of 6 sitting outside she would have gotten at least a 45.00 tip.. guess they didn't need to make any money that night. Visited recently and my pulled pork dinner was sitting in a pile of juices in the bottom of the plate which soaked my bread. Lots of the pork was fatty and not edible and the macaroni and cheese was def not cooked enough. There was cheese that wasn't melted, and my cornbread was stale. I ordered just the app of wings to share with my friends and for my meal I ordered the spring rolls, Oh man, are they ever the delicious I loved them there wings are phenomenal and everything just looked lovely.
