Was talked into going for the Wednesday line dancing.... So glad I did! so much fun!!! People and kids of all ages, all sizes, all walks of life, just dancing and having fun. Staff was very short handed... only down fall. Hoping it was just a one off situation. They have a lot of good happy hour deals as well as line dancing menu. It's in the center of the Town and country hotel, which why have I never been. The grounds and pool looked amazing!! I will definitely be going back!!

[[HIGHLIGHT]]Lappers Sport Bar + Kitchen is a cute spot with wonderful outdoor seating, perfect for a relaxing meal.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Our host took our order quickly, which was much appreciated since we were on a tight schedule for a conference. I ordered the Watermelon Spritz mocktail, and it was incredibly refreshing--light, flavorful, and the perfect complement to my Baja tacos. The tacos were absolutely delicious! The batter was so fluffy and crisp, making every bite satisfying. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, great service, a lovely atmosphere, and tasty food.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] I'd definitely come back!

Food was good but nothing fully stood out. Service was great. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Place is nice and spacious for big groups.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

We've come a few times for their game day specials and happy hour. The service has always been great. Food has been good. We checked their website before coming down to watch a Padres game and their site had their special menus still up. When we came, our waitress said they no longer offer game day specials. Annoying because this was one of our spots during football and baseball season that we'd frequent because they had great deals. Also that the website still advertised these specials but it was not updated. Our waitress was still great. Food was fine. I hope they update their site soon in order to prevent more confusion. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Mainly will come here for the ambiance. Their outdoor seating is always nice with TVs and some fire pits.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] [[HIGHLIGHT]]It can be really loud during the summer.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] They do validate parking which is a plus.

I stayed here at the Town & Country resort for a convention I was attending and frequented this establishment several times during my stay. Centrally located in the middle of the resort, along with the flexible hours and consistently good service had me coming back. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to grab lunch or a cocktail that boasts resort, pool and garden views from both indoor and outdoor seating.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]]

I visited in mid September, while traveling for a conference in the Town & Country resort. I dropped by for lunch on the first day of the conference and the restaurant was fairly slow. Given that there weren't too many patrons, our party of 3 was sat quickly. As one would imagine, the menu isn't super extensive, but features many American classics. I opted for the pizza and a soft drink (Dr. Pepper), and tried a few of the fries. The pizza was neither spectacular, nor bad. Just okay -- though it did have plenty of toppings. As far as service goes, our waitress checked in on us maybe once while we were there, but we didn't mind, since we didn't need anything. Would I eat here again? Ehhh, while the food wasn't bad, I think you're probably better off going somewhere else in the area.

I visited The Lapper on Wednesday, August 13 for a night of line dancing and drinks with friends and it was just what I needed to break up the week. It's located inside the Town and Country Hotel & Convention Center in Mission Valley, and [[HIGHLIGHT]]the vibe is always so fun and welcoming.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Dan, the line dancing instructor, is fantastic--super friendly, encouraging, and keeps the energy high. Whether you're a beginner or just there to enjoy the music, it's a great time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The atmosphere is great for a midweek unwind. Good music, great people, and plenty of space to let loose and dance the night away.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] That said, my only critique is the bar service. This isn't the first time I've noticed the bartenders seeming a little... irritated, almost like ordering a drink is an inconvenience. One of my friends asked the bartender what his favorite drink was, just to be friendly, and he just stared at her with no response. I get that it's a long shift, and we all have tough days, but in this industry, attitude really does matter. These days, people are more selective about where they spend their money, and hospitality makes a difference. A helpful tip for first-timers: there is no valet parking, but they do offer free self-parking as long as you get your ticket validated at the venue you're visiting (like The Lapper). The policy has recently changed--you don't go to the hotel front desk for validation anymore. Just head to the venue directly and they'll take care of it. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The dance floor is not very big but people are respectful about giving people space[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] . I do like the dancing better on the turf. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall, The Lapper is a great spot with fun energy and a welcoming vibe.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] With just a little more attention to the customer experience at the bar, it could easily be a five-star place. I'll definitely be back and will keep recommending it to friends!

Drove down from the Central Valley for a weekend conference. We hadn't eaten all day so we went to Lapper here at the hotel! Bellman recommended the Street taco fries (which is what I ordered) and my wife got the fish taco. Both were so good! So much food! We were so full but I got the peach cobbler to go! Absolutely sinful!! Our server, Elissa, was awesome!! Friendly, funny and on totally top of it, even though she handling all the tables!! They have ample seating. We sat inside to watch basketball, but.they also have patio seating. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Oh, they are just as friendly to fur babies!![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Definitely worth stopping in! Ask for Elissa!! You will not be disappointed!!

Nice alternative to ARLO at Town and Country. Sports bar feel and food. Great service. Kid's Chicken fingers and fries were pretty good. Chicken was moist with a nice crisp. Fries were seasoned well. Portion was huge. Baja Fish tacos were great. Last but not least, the surf/turf nachos had that wow factor. This was definitely for at least 2 ppl. If you're in the mood for some loaded nachos - this is it! Next time we're in SD, we'll be back!

Ate here for lunch during a conference. We slammed the restaurant. They were not equipped to handle the large number of us. I missed most of the first talk after lunch. After the Long wait in line (15+min) I waited a crazy long time for the food. The salad with salmon was good. The fries were fresh and good but needed a little more time in the fryer. Our waiter took pity on us and gave us some chips to hold us over. We also waited for the check but the bartender Ian helped out. Ian also took care of me one afternoon when I came in for hot tea mid afternoon to work a few e-mails. Came another day for breakfast but everything is prepared ahead. Breakfast sandwich was meh. Would eat lunch here again but not breakfast unless made to order.

Alissa is our server today, she is amazing! Oh first, we ordered the chips and salsa ! Then we ordered the shrimp, Lappers kitchen, makes their own cocktail sauce. It is fresh and delicious. Then, we ordered. Beer, battered fish, Alaskan, cod, fish and chips with coleslaw and french fries. The ambience here is so vibrant. We are having such a great time. We are giving Lappers Kitchen five stars mostly because Alissa was such a great server.

This was such a great experience. [[HIGHLIGHT]]My group decided to dinner outside. The weather was on the cool side, but perfect for our evening out.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The server was amazing. He took the appetizer and drinks orders right away and there wasn't too long of a wait for either. He also was patient with some of us because we couldn't decide on what to order. Everything looked too good. I started with the BBQ chicken wings. They were crispy and tossed in a smoky sauce that had just a bit of a bite, but not so spicy where it would've rivaled buffalo sauce. There was enough sauce to coat everything, so there weren't any wings that didn't have any. I had the Watermelon Arugula Salad. It was so light and refreshing. It was definitely summer on a plate. The sweetness of the watermelon, strawberry, and cucumber were perfectly balanced with the balsamic Vinaigrette and mini mozzarella balls. I also had an order of sweet potato fries. My only gripe was that I forgot to ask for no salt. Some of the fries had so much on them that the salt overpowered the flavor. Otherwise they were delicious. The others in my party said they loved their meals. I just wish I got pictures of the food. If I ever get the chance to come out this way, I'll be back to try something new.

It's similar to Al pastor without the pineapple though. The meat was tender and the flavor was authentic. My partner liked this one the most! What shocked me was the carne asada. The taco was delicious!! It had a wonderfully smoky flavor to the meat and it was juicy and tender. I have been craving it ever since!! This was my favorite. There's no seating downstairs but if you go upstairs you'll find some tables! Be warned that it's hot upstairs. But since you chow down the food quickly you won't be there for too long anyway. Tacos El Gordo did not disappoint!…read more We were on a road trip from the Bay Area to Ontario and decided on a last-minute dinner stop at Tacos El Gordo in San Diego. We figured we had to make the detour -- and honestly, it was worth it! The lines can get pretty long, but don't let that scare you away. They move fairly quickly, although it depends on how complicated people's orders are. The Al Pastor line was probably the longest, but that's probably because everyone knows what's good! Since we made the trip out here, we went all in and ordered about 11 items: 1 Lengua Mulita - This was my first time trying a mulita and it was amazing. Basically a taco sandwich with cheese, and the combination of the crispy tortilla, melted cheese, and tender lengua was . 2 Lengua Taco - The lengua was just as tender and flavorful as I remembered from about 10 years ago. It brought back some nostalgia and definitely lived up to expectations. 1 Cabeza Taco - Probably my favorite taco of the night. The meat was incredibly tender and packed with flavor. Definitely a must-try. 2 Asada Tacos - Solid tacos. They were good, but compared to the other options, they didn't stand out as much. 4 Al Pastor Tacos - These were amazing! The al pastor was super flavorful, juicy, and not dry at all. I can see why this line was so long. 1 1/2 Al Pastor Fries - The avocado sauce really brought everything together. The fries, meat, and toppings combined into a perfect late-night meal. We also ordered the grilled onions and jalapeños on the side, which were a great addition and paired really well with everything, just walk up to the ladies that's pressing the tortillas, no need to wait in line. Overall, Tacos El Gordo was definitely worth the stop. The portions, flavors, and quality were exactly what we were hoping for. If you're in San Diego, expect a wait -- but trust me, it's worth it. 5 stars but subtracting 1 just because after ordering the Al Pastor tacos, then waiting for the other lines for the other meats, food went from hot/fresh to warm pretty much, but that's on us since it was only Me and another person.

There were a couple of groups dining in and someone picking up a to-go order, but there was still plenty of seating available. The employee working the counter was friendly. They also serve alcohol, and during my visit drinks were 20% off. Options included Pacifico, Modelo, Blue Moon, hard seltzers, and a selection of canned craft beers. I ordered: * Mahi Mahi Taco: the fish tasted fresh, and I liked the crispy onions on top. There was quite a bit of sauce, which made it pretty messy to eat. While the fish was good, it felt like a very heavy taco overall. * Surf & Turf Taco: this was loaded with steak and topped with two flavorful shrimp. The shrimp had an amazing flavor, and this taco was much more enjoyable and balanced. Overall, the service was great, the prices were very reasonable, and the protein quality was excellent. My only critique is that the tacos felt a little overdone with toppings and sauces when the quality of the protein could easily stand on its own. Still, it's a solid spot for an affordable late-night bite. One thing to note: there are no restrooms available inside the restaurant.

Sometimes, there are nights when only tacos can fix me. It's no secret that San Diego has tacos in…read morespades and being so close to the border, you'd think that a quest to find the perfect taco would be as simple as rolling down to the nearest taqueria. Except, it's not quite that simple. Many beloved staples have gone downhill, while some newer spots that might boast things like a Michelin mention or multiple locations ranging from TJ to Vegas contain more hype and gristle than tender meat and substance. Enter Chula Tacos. Chula is, and always was, the type of place that makes you forget that you're not actually in Tijuana. While part of me misses their OG Market Street location, seeing them with brick-and-mortars feels hard-earned and well-deserved. This location on Palm in IB is relatively easy to access from the freeway, but parking can be tricky. You can safely assume that it will be busy and you will either have to be very lucky or be willing to find a spot on the street. Out of all the times I've been here, it's always been crowded enough that I've never been able to find a table inside, but I enjoy sitting out on the patio next to the ahumederos. The first thing that hits you walking through the door is how amazing everything smells. The queue to the cashier takes you near a window showing the kitchen where you can see the Chula Tacos team making fresh tortillas, slicing meat from the trompos, grilling up jalapenos, nopales, onions, labio, and tripa. For me, it's not so much a challenge to decide what I want, it's more a challenge to keep myself from ordering everything. My usual is four tacos: two asada, two al pastor (but I've heard that I should also try their world famous keka). The tacos though? Perfection. Every time, the asada is the juiciest and most tender I've ever eaten, the al pastor is succulent and flavorful, and no taco in front of me is long for the world. At $3.50 each, every one of them is absolutely loaded. Three would honestly fill me up, but I always want four. After getting burned by spots that ask around 75% more and deliver anywhere between 25-50% less, Chula Tacos feels like an absolute godsend of a Tijuana-style taqueria and I can't see any other contenders being my go-to. So, when I say "Tacos will fix me," what I mean nowadays is "Chula Tacos will fix me."

The highlight of the menu is the Keka Taco. It is incredibly delicious, loaded with flavor, and so filling that it can easily satisfy even the biggest appetite. The only downside to this establishment is the limited parking, which can make picking up your order a bit challenging during busy times.
