Not happy with Julie in jewelry counter. She makes promises and then does not keep them plus kind of double talks - we agreed on a certain price for her to sell my item. Let's just call it $1000 , Says she will buy my item. If it doesn't sell in a month, that did not happen. After several months of the item not selling, we agreed she would buy the item for $800 if no one bought it by the end of the month. I called her on the last day of the month. She told me that she had just sold it that day I expected to get $1000, since she sold it, and did not buy it herself. but she only gave me 800 which took 30 days to receive. We agreed she would pay $800 if she didn't sell it and $1000 if she did sell it. Also, if she bought it, I would've gotten the money right away, when she sells it, it takes 30 days to receive the money so she got the discount and the 30 extra days . She expected to sell the item within a month it took eight months of this whole thing to happen. I understand that you cannot predict what will sell and what won't, but I think she use that to try and get the item down so she could make more money. read more

Where's Mora? Such a loss! My last trips there, the sales service attendants were soooo lacking. Back to a very unwelcoming environment! Mora was a class act! Just a little tip...folks if you want to sale, "try to form a welcoming connection " with your clients. After all...it's your job isn't it? I was there for 35 minutes, not one person even said "hello". They looked at me snd kept walking. I went into this store yesterday to buy some furniture for my new place, I was going to buy a coffee table and I asked this salesperson {Sam}, if I can buy it today and pick up next week, he was so rude and condescending, he was arrogant as well with his answer. Came to find out he was a new hire. Home Consignment Center is a such a fun place to shop for unique home furnishings, decor, art, jewelry and one of a kind items. There is so much to see and they get new items in daily! HCC is also an excellent place to consign and sell your no longer used decor, etc. My personal consignment experience with Melissa at HCC was super. First time here, so much to see. Was looking for a vintage lamp. Had no idea what hidden gems may be inside. Didn't find anything special this time, although I did see a good amount of home furnishings fairly priced. Items for the most part didn't show dramatic wear. While I was there, I saw new merchandise brought onto the floor as well as purchased furniture leave. Employees did ask if I wanted assistance and were quite fine to have me browse at my leisure. read more

I have never been treated so rudely by anyone who I was trying to give my money to. (Susan) Your employee Susan was horrible to my wife one evening when she came in wanting to buy a piece of furniture. I came in the following morning to ask about the item that my wife wanted, and well, this is how it went... Me- "Good morning, I would like to put an offer in on this couch that I like." Susan- (as if she were scolding a child) "We DON'T take offers." Me- "Wow, okay. It seems like you don't want to help me at all. I've bought and sold stuff here and really thought... Susan- (Interrupting me) "Well if you actually SOLD something here, then, you KNOW that we don't take offers. I can go look at the couch that you are talking about, you can tell me what you WANT to pay for it, and I can tell you NO." Is this the way you allow your employees to speak to people? Is it so wrong for me to ask for a deal on something in a resale store, is that so unheard of? For a few hundred dollars more we went over to Wickmans furniture store and bought the same couch brand new. At Wickman's we were treated wonderfully, we did not even have to ask them for a deal they offered us a deal. I hate to think of any of my neighbors having to walk into the consignment store in Calabasas and be treated the way my wife and I were by Susan. In my opinion she should be fired. After looking for so many months for the perfect couch I finally found the right one. Thanks to Melissa the store manager who helped me in making the decision . After a short talk of letting her know What i was looking for she knew my taste and led me to this beautiful white sectional sofa with velvet pillows. One look and I was sold. BUYERS BEWARE: In my opinion: this store at some point became inundated with merchandise and started turning people away who wanted to consign, as opposed to when the store first opened. After my last experience I wonder if they now just buy out high end estate sales and flip it at a higher cost to the consumer. Pay attention as you browse the aisles. I have been shopping here for years and have bought some beautiful furniture and art. When the time came for me to sell some of my mother in law's furniture, Home Consignment was the first place I thought of. My m-in-law kept her furniture in show condition. I was told it was "not their style". Style?! This store has everything from high end luxury collections, to shabby chic, to eclectic where everything goes. The salesperson recognized me as a good customer when she greeted me, only to turn and walk away as she said "we'll pass". Home Consignment: No need to reply that you are disappointed to hear of my dissatisfaction and your operating procedures. You will not have the future opportunity to exceed my expectations. This is the BEST store EVER! I go at least twice a week and find treasures every time! The art is beautiful, incredibly furniture and soooooo many special treasures! This is the best store of all the locations if you ask me! I have gotten one of a kind Picasso prints, Dali posters, unique treasures. And you better go before they turn up at the Agoura Antique Market for triple the price, yep, it happens! The prices are great and affordable and you get your moneys worth! I contacted this company today about selling a couple of chase lounges . They told me to email pictures and responded right away to my pictures . They said to call to set up an appointment for review at my home . Also ,If you need the furniture moved they have 3 rd party mover . They said it's like $75.00 an hour for local pickups . I see bad reviews about people getting upset if they don't respond or don't want there furniture . You have to respect them that they only want high dollar stuff . I had several items delivered to the store this week and visited today for the first time to bring some additional pieces which had been approved in advance for consignment. The staff work so well together in a coordinated way and certainly attentive to customers. There are many beautiful pieces here and I think fairly priced. We got to the center just after 5 to pick up the headboard and footboard and some other furniture. unfortunately was during rush hour traffic and I had to bring a friend because he had a truck. Nowhere on our receipt was there a yellow sticker that says you have to come before 5 to pick up your order otherwise you're not allowed ( which was supposed to be there, but apparently they forgot to put it). It was barely after 5 and they still did not let us take the things we had already paid for and told us we had to come back tomorrow. Absolutely terrible customer service, they make a mistake and you have to pay for it. Usually stores that want to retain their reputation and be good to their customers will make accommodation for the errors that they make, but not this place. Lots of confusion about photos not received, emails that went astray, and finally a curt rejection - this is not the type of furniture we find sells well - we tried one before and it didn't sell. I used HCC to offload a LOT of furniture in advance of a move from LA to San Francisco, and from start to finish I was pleased with the work Melissa and team did to get 1) the furniture out of my old home, 2) the pricing set and expectations clearly communicated by both parties, and 3) the communication I got from HCC and Melissa until every last item was sold. While I might have gotten a better price if I had sold the items myself, the ease of the whole transaction made it well worth the consignment fees. I'd recommend HCC and Melissa to anyone looking to unload quality furniture without the hassle of dealing with Craigslist, etc. read more

Had to move out a lot of pretty nice furniture, but places needed ME to get it to them--- I called Home Consignment Center, and they couldn't have been easier or more professional to work with. Donna came out to appraise for consignment, the guys who came to move furniture were great (yes, there's a charge, but a fraction of what it would have cost me to get someone), and they kept me apprised of my sold items and promptly sent a check. I used to love this place but it's all over now! Because they still manage to get quality resale merchandise I will continue to shop there reluctantly. Melissa refuses to open bathrooms to shoppers and their elderly clients. One minute the excuse is that it's a countywide restriction the next minute it's because they've had jewelry store heist. They direct you to use the bathroom next door in the grocery. Never been in a furniture store that didn't provide facilities, it says we really don't care about our customers. Then I bought a baccarat candleholder today I asked the sales clerk to make sure that it didn't have any dings cracks etc. as I did not have on my eyeglasses she assured me they checked for these things yet I get home and you can see all the cracks inside rendering a glass piece completely worthless!! Then I wanted to buy some screens and nearly did but I asked if they had any type of plastic wrap as they are upholstered with light material and I was told I will get no no help packing whatsoever. They move the piece to the back loading area and it's up to you to protect it and pack it on your own. So I ended up leaving the screens there good luck to the next guy. So my advise is to shop there with your eyeglasses on,your bladder on empty, have your own packing materials and plenty of muscle in order to purchase their free inventory!!!D- place to shop!!!D-customer care(NO CARE)! read more

I made a call into Home Consignment Center after we moved recently. We had several furniture pieces that we wanted to sell. After some simple email and photo exchanges, a representative came to our house to view the pieces. Susan reviewed every piece and gave us a very fair offer on the spot. We arranged to have the pieces picked up by their recommended movers and they will be here tomorrow to pick up everything. For a long time I have found this to be a great place to stop in and look for bargains that are in good to very good condition. Recently I downsized and they accepted only good things - the rest I sent off to a charity. You won't see a lot of stuff here that no one would ever buy. Only negative: I appreciate they can't email everyone every time something sells, so just be sure they have your correct mailing address. They sent checks to the address I moved from, so I had to wait for them to reissue checks. They stayed on top of it but it would have been smoother if they had just confirmed mailing address when they took in the items. Happy hunting! read more

Also, make sure to read the reviews that have not been included. I wish I had. DO NOT BUY A SOFA or anything with fabric from here unless you have pounded on the cushions. The sofa I bought from here has drywall dust (or some type of irritant) deep in the down cushions. I've tried everything to get it out and my eyes still water every time I sit on the couch for longer than an hour. Not something noticed in the store. I realize it was a used sofa but beware that people consigning have had construction work done and may not have properly covered their furniture. Now I am stuck with it and will have to look for another one...Once I pay to dispose of it as I would never be okay with selling or giving it away. I signed something stating hat I could not return after 24 hours. Not sure what they could have done. Whether this sofa came from a 3 million dollar home or an apartment doesn't really matter. The mansion type homes tend to do more construction. Point is this.. I've spent more time and money trying to clean the sofa than the price of purchasing a new one from somewhere like Living Spaces. I have bought several items in this store and every time I have been in here it reminds me of the scene in the movie pretty woman with all of the snobby sales ladies. I want to be able to shop here more but the customer service is just so bad and they are so unfriendly and rude it just makes you want to stay away.
