Sales staff at large in the Calabasas store are rude and aloof, and the "gemologist" in the jewelry dept while nice, has twice mis-identified 2 diamond and sapphire rings I brought in as Crystal's, CZs, or called them "junk jewelry", since then, I obtained written appraisals on each of these items certifying to their authenticity and value, and have sold one for lots more than I was told it was worth. This place is a rip off. They advertise that they will consign to sell your furniture and accessories; tables, lamps, desks, etc. Beware.. what you think is nice, they'll tell you they can't sell it. Meanwhile they will tell you anything to sell you something... like used car salesmen... So here's my true experience. I needed some temporary furniture. I found some things and discussed the fact I would probably bring it back in a few months, knowing I would lose money on it, but I would have things to fill my space. So some of my special order stuff came in and I brought back a few items I purchased from them. The response was unbelievable, we "can't sell that". "It will just sit and take up space". So they refused to even entertain consigning the very items I bought from them, when in fact I discussed this at the time of purchase... WTH? Well, there are 22 employees relocating out here from Texas at my company in the next 6 months, now that the facility is up and running. Not all will live in this area obviously, but they will all know about this store and its practices... you can only treat people like this for so long and stay profitable. I'm honestly shocked at some of the less than favorable reviews this place has got because my multiple experiences of not only buying but also selling to the Home consignment center have been absolutely wonderful. The staff is polite friendly and warm, the pieces they sell are cool, unique and priced very fairly! They know the clientele in the area and tailor towards them well. Its amazing to me that people get upset and give bad reviews if they don't consign a piece that they brought them... they simply know what will and wont sell! So you really cant... and shouldn't take it as a personal smite if they say no to something you brought them regardless of its condition! Do not deal with this company, they are extremely unprofessional and rude. They assessed my furniture in person and it was priced accordingly. They provided a third party removal company who collected my furniture. Within an hour of them leaving my home I received a call from HCC to say my furniture was unacceptable to them and it would be returned, which I would need to pay for! This was after they had already agreed to take it. I was pretty disgusted with their behavior and after a rather heated discussion via phone they hung up on me! I have never experienced such poor customer service, particularly from a second hand furniture store. They need a reality check. I bought a bench which was placed in my car safely for transport home, but upside down. When I took it out of my car, lifting it by its legs, a leg fell off. It obviously had been broken before since the wood was stipped where the screws entered to hold the let on, and a piece of the wood was missing. I contacted the store, and they basically accuse me of breaking it. We are seeing if it is fixable, but instead of it being an old piece, as was how it was marketed, it is a knock off made in China. The first time I ever called this place the woman who answered the phone made me feel like I was wasting her time. I figured maybe she was having a bad day. She told me to email photos of everything I wanted to sell. After taking the time to do that and hearing nothing for a few days, I called to follow up. This time, the woman who answered told me the photos were not reviewed and she could just set up an in-home evaluation of my items. Again, she was dismissive and rude. Even after asking her why I needed to send photos in the first place if they were never going to be reviewed, I didn't get a straight answer. Fast forward to the in-home evaluation a few days later. I was given a date and time with a 2 hour window. At the end of the 2 hour window I called the store to find out if anyone was going to show up and was told that the woman was on her way. When she finally showed up 10 minutes past the 2 hour window she told me she tried calling me but had an incorrect phone number. Really? She wasn't given my correct phone number? And why so late when the store is 10 minutes from my house? During the inspection/evaluation, the woman took pictures of all my furniture (which I had already emailed but were never reviewed) and focused on and photographed every tiny imperfection. Let me be clear, this is USED furniture - around 9 years old. I am the original owner of the furniture, and it is all well cared for and in nearly perfect condition. The bedroom furniture is shabby chic - it is supposed to look distressed. She even told me shabby chic sells extremely well in their store. 50 photos and 30 minutes later she said she would write up an evaluation and email it to me the following morning. The next morning I received a phone call informing me that only one dresser and one mirror were good enough to be accepted. She said the owners are extremely picky and any flaw, no matter how small, is reason enough to reject an item. If that is their policy I understand, but if absolute perfection is required why are the owners calling it a consignment store and not a furniture store? Give potential consignees a heads up. Let them know that any imperfection, no matter how small will be rejected. My entire experience from the initial phone call to the inspection was unpleasant and lengthy and a waste of my time. Perhaps walking into the store as a buyer would be a wonderful experience because every item for sale would be flawless and like brand new, but as a potential consignee my experience was far less than wonderful. My advice: don't waste your time and donate to a charity instead. Otherwise good luck - you're going to need it! read more

If you want a great experience, go to this store! There have exceptional home furnishings that can only be found in very expensive-upscale places. The prices are great and the service is excellent. Every time I go into the store, I am kindly greeted by the staff and made to feel at home. I started buying things from the store, and then realized that in order to make room for more things, I needed to sell some of my stuff I no longer wanted. The store manager, who is a wonderful gal herself, came to my house and told me what would sell in the store. I put those things on consignment and they all quickly sold. I made good money, and used it to purchase many other unique pieces that have really given my house the professionally decorated look. I recommend this store to everybody. If you love to decorate or have difficulty with decorating, visit this store. The manager and her staff will help you. They are professional decorators and will give you great ideas too. As someone who has been in several different home consignment stores in the Southern CA area, this is the best one I've been to. It's a little bit smaller than some of the other ones I've been to, but the customer service is lightyears better than anywhere else. They're willing to compromise on prices, and they're very attentive to your questions. Although I live in Los Angeles, they are shipping the pieces I selected for only $75--that's an excellent deal, seeing as though Wertz Brothers furniture wanted to charge the same price...and I live TEN MINUTES away from their store (I'll write another review for Wertz, but in case you don't want to have to read it: don't EVER go to their store.) It's in a great location, with several nice shops and restaurants around (you know, just in case you have someone with you who isn't as patient furniture shopping as you are). I will most definitely make the drive back out to this location to buy some more furniture pieces. Absolutely love it! read more
