I got the worst food poisoning here last week. Projectile vomiting and diarrhea for a week. Reported to the health department and the health department found several serious violations of food improperly stored and not at correct temperature. Also employee was actively sick and working. Please avoid if you value your health. Also please note they are currently propping open the doors so you can't see their health department violation notice which is incredibly deceptive. I will be reporting them again for hiding this notice.

Love the fresh udon at Marugame! I'll admit, i only really like their standard broth with udon and a side of shrimp tempura because you can really taste the noodles. I've tried their tomato curry and it wasn't it. Too thick and felt more like a gravy with a side of noodles. Anyways, if we're talking about their regular kake udon, amazing. Likely won't try anything else :p

Food was great, service is quick, and there's plenty of space inside and out. We really enjoyed the fresh noodles and how easy and quick it is to get a meal here. Highly recommend the curry udon.

This place might be faster than fast food. After I made my order, the staff was on top of it to make my food. They were fast. The staff kept the line moving. It felt like Japan

First time and I literally inhaled it! Got the creamy broth with a side of gyoza and shrimp tempura. Asked for chili oil but they had some paste type spicy peppers so that did its job. Wasn't spicy, but really enjoyed the broth. Can't wait to return to try other broths! Oh and the shrimp tempura.....BE BEST!

Can't go wrong with marugame! I love their beef udon. It's so flavorful but it can get a bit too salty. Decent portion for the price too We came on a Friday night and it was very busy but we luckily found a table after we ordered

I like how this spot is casual and you can easily get a large bowl of noodles for cheap. What you have to be careful are the extra items like the protein or eggs or tempura. That's where they get you. But I liked the options. I definitely would get a regular plain bowl of udon and add whatever toppings I like or just go plain if I'm feeling like it. The Cheese Katsu Tomatama Curry udon wasn't my favorite but I'm glad I tried it. I overall like the restaurant and it's very spacious too which is nice for seating.

Still enjoy eating here. Nikutama with ginger just hits the spot when craving soup. Service is quick and plenty of seating. Very spacious.

It's a simple cafeteria-style udon place. You order your udon, pay at the counter and take the tray to any open tables available. It's reasonably priced and quick. They have a water/ice station with tempura sauce, utensils and napkins. There is a nice outdoor areas for seating too. This place can get crowded over the weekend and the line gets long outside the door too. During peak time, parking can be hard to find. The parking lot isn't that big with all the shops in the same complex and some space are pretty tight. Plan accordingly when you come.

Delicious udon. The noodle station was a mess last time I went, but it's so good, it doesn't really matter. Tempura sweet potato is the GOAT. Solid spot. Will continue to come.

Great option for quick and cozy udon! This is a cafeteria style restaurant, where you order at the front, they make the food in front of you, and you pay right there. Service was pretty fast for a weekend and it was easy to find a seat after paying. Pretty much everything is self serve, including the utensils, water, and sauces. I ordered the Nikutama with fresh veggies on the side, and it delicious! The broth is definitely on the sweeter side (which I personally like). It's more of a "saucey" broth so it can get a little salty after having a few bites. Noodles were the perfect bouncy texture. I do feel like they could have been more generous with the meat though, since I finished that quite fast. Their tamagoyaki tempura was great as well--sweet and not too oily. Overall, good no frills place for udon!

Essentially yoshinoya (half beef only) adding udon. Yes I love yoshinoya, but going to a cafe paying 50% more seems not necessary.

Went in to grab some dinner around 7 pm on a Friday night. There seemed to be a bunch of tables that were still dirty. Grabbed a seat close to the water dispenser and could smell the chemicals from the bathroom. Due to this we had to move since it was unpleasant. The food was good and the crab meat tempura was delicious alongside it.

We were looking to catch up in person on a Saturday afternoon for lunch. All tables were full and there were a couple of other parties waiting inside when we walked in, but the wait for a table was not bad at all. It is on the noisier side since the clientele is primarily Asian, and service tends to be short since that's what would be considered authentic. I got the beef noodle soup with the wide noodles since it was a chilly day and I wanted something warm. In the past I've gotten the tomato and eggs sauce noodles, which was very tasty and not a bad option for a hot day as the noodles themselves come out cold. Make sure to bring some floss if you get the beef noodle soup, some of the meat gets stuck in my teeth every time. Service does tend to be short so don't expect anyone to wait around for you to order or extra pleasantries. But this isn't surprising given the type of restaurant so it didn't detract from the meal. The check comes to you when you're about done so there is no need to flag anyone down after finishing. I would definitely revisit if I have cash on hand and am in the area. I would recommend this spot to anyone interested in authentic Chinese noodles, hot or cold.

First you select a broth (I don't do spicy, so I always pick their chicken broth; but friends and family enjoy the spicy flavors a lot). Then you pick your style of noodle (the fish noodle was fun to try, but I prefer the ramen or the knife-cut or rice noodles). Then you pick your toppings - a large variety of both meat and veggie options! It comes with a little veggies (spinach, corn, mushroom, bamboo) too. My favorite appetizer is their rice spicy honeycomb tripe - great marinade! Recently tried the Hainan chicken dish and it was good too (though I would prefer more ginger than scallion in the oil and the roasted peanuts, garlic cucumber are yummy too!). In the past we have also had the fried rice, which my kiddos really love. But the true highlight is to get the "large" soup noodles where they serve it in a bowl larger than your whole head. Didn't get it this past visit because we weren't that hungry... but it is always a fun order! I enjoy having the treat of a drink with their combo deal. :)

Today I came in for dine-in, and the experience was honestly one of the worst I've had. First, after being seated, someone asked what I wanted to drink but didn't explain the options clearly and walked away before I could even answer. During the entire meal, nobody followed up and I didn't even get water. The ordering experience overall felt rushed and unfriendly. After I finished eating, I asked for a to-go box. They just dropped it on the table, and while I was packing my food, someone immediately came over asking for payment, so I had to stop what I was doing. The payment system is now on an iPad with a default 18% tip suggestion. I still selected 15%, even though the service had already been disappointing. Then came the final straw. Since my leftover food had soup in it, I politely asked if I could get a plastic bag because I didn't want it leaking in my car. They told me it would cost 10 cents. After years of coming here and also all restaurants in bay areas I ever had none of them asked money for a plastic bag, after paying for food and tipping, getting charged extra for a simple bag felt ridiculous, especially only finding out after payment was already done. The whole experience felt careless, unfriendly, and frustrating. It completely ruined my mood and honestly ruined my day. After being a customer for years, this experience was enough to make me decide I won't be coming back. I should give 0 tips but worried as I am only myself, they will do something ridiculous. :(

Although the new Cupertino location is smaller than their previous spot, the food hasn't missed a beat. We started with the Taiwanese kimchi and century egg tofu with pork floss! both great appetizers that set the tone for the meal. For mains, we ordered the tendon beef soup, dry mixed noodles, and the peanut-braised pork feet. Everything was flavorful, comforting, and reminiscent of classic Taiwanese home-style cooking. The dishes leaned slightly on the sweeter side, which added to the nostalgic feel. The standout for me was the beef tendon braised soup! The soup was hearty with picked mustard elevating the natural flavor of the beef, super satisfying, perfect for me to order because I usually don't eat the noodles. The tendon so soft and melts in your mouth! W texture Service was impressively fast; our food arrived within five minutes of ordering. The interior, however, feels more like a commercial kitchen and retail space than a traditional restaurant, with shelves stocked with Liang's Village frozen foods and sauces available for purchase. After placing our order, the food came out relatively quick. We ordered 2 beef noodle soups, the works, and 2 beef rolls. Starting off with the beef rolls, these came out cold. Please tell me how the pancake look brown and crispy on the outside and still comes out cold and not crispy at all. My nephew even said they weren't crispy and he's 3. The lady told us that the sauce on the inside was salty and that's why they don't give extra and man was she right. 1/5* The beef noodles soup itself flavor wise was good and portion wise it was good for $21, but my noodles had no chew to them at all. I was attempting to pick them up with chopsticks and they would just break into pieces. They do give a decent amount of beef though in this. 2.5/5* for the flavor but don't expect much from the noodles. Same thing went for the works, it was a peanut buttery sauce that the lady claimed wasn't spicy, but my parents noticed that it had a kick to it even though they asked for it not to be spicy. The egg is a nice touch but not too sure if it's worth the price. Noodle consistency was the same as the beef noodle soup. 2.5/5*
