We came here on Saturday evening and added ourselves to the waiting list. The line was moving quickly and we were seated in about 20 mins Since we are vegans the staff shared about which sauces to avoid. We got sukiyaki and the tom yum bases with vegetables for 1 each The broth were really good sukiyaki has a good sweet base and is a good canvas for trying the different sauce combos - I highly recommend trying it with the signature combo. The tom yum is a good spicy base and goes well with everything on the veggie combo. Overall this place is a must for vegetarian hotpot !

Mumu hotpot has individual hotpot soups instead of a big commercial one. I personally like that because everyone can choose their own flavor, but that is personal preference. As with most hotpot places, there is a self-serve sauce bar. It can get quite pricy here if you order everything separately, but they have pretty nice set deals that are more affordable.

Highly highly recommend. You get your own soup stove so you don't have to worry about sharing and if you have dietary restrictions. The food is SO GOOD. The price is reasonable. The restaurant itself is clean, organized and in a nice area. Servers are nice too

The meat quality here is fantastic! We ordered the waygu combo and the non waygu option, just to try everything out. The waygu meat was rich and buttery. The seafood and veggies were all really fresh. The yuzu and miso broths were our favorite and were savory and delicious. Service was helpful but not always there when you needed them. The setting was clean but a bit basic - like dining in a nice cafeteria. My only complaint is the prices can be a tad expensive of you compare it to other equally great hot pot options around.

My First time at Mumu!! Review: 9/10 (updated!) Mumu Hot Pot stands out for balancing premium quality with a sleek, modern atmosphere. Following the recent renovations, the space feels elevated and fresh. The newly renovated interior is polished and modern, offering a clean, spacious environment that works for both casual lunches and date nights. The seats were spacious and comfortable as well. The individual hot pot setup provides a personalized experience, allowing for total control over broth selection and spice levels. And you order on your phone, great for those introverted hot pot lovers. High-Quality Ingredients! Known for fresh, marbled meats and bold broth bases like Tom Yum and Buttery spicy, paired with an extensive, DIY sauce bar! The vegetable platter was more than enough, already including bokchoy, fresh bean curb, cabbage, spinach, fried & fresh tofu. You get to choose 3 sides of your own. Highly recommend the shrimp balls with salted egg - tastes well with the soup. The 9/10 rating reflects a top-tier dining experience where the chic new aesthetic finally matches the high quality of the food. Loved the drinks options as well, the grape slush was a great addition to the food.

Good but wouldn't wait an hr. A5 and the toro were bomb and very fairly priced. The regular prime black Angus beef short rib was solid for the price. Lamb wasn't great... I'd def skip that. Do get the Black tiger shrimp it was really good. Lastly, the broth was just ok nothing special. Overall, I don't quite understand the hype in terms of wait time but I will say the quality is good and the a5 and premium meats are pretty fairly priced. I don't think I'd make a detour but wouldn't mind coming back if I was in the area

1st time checking out this hot pot place, and it definitely won't be my last! This place stood out to me because each person gets their own individual pot to cook and enjoy. The restaurant only offers combo menus, with the option to add additional sides, and it's both halal- and vegetarian-friendly. I ordered the classic combo for two, which comes with 2 soup bases, 3 different kinds of meat, 3 sides, 2 rice or noodle options, and 1 large veggie platter. It was the perfect amount of food for two people. Their in-house beverages were really tasty too. I got the lime tea, and it was very refreshing paired with the hot pot. It's also a great spot for big groups to hang out and eat together. The restaurant is very clean and has a great ventilation system. We didn't leave smelling strongly like hot pot afterward, which was definitely a plus.

Great hotpot place to hangout with friends and family. This place is open and bright. It has a sauce bar with all the different sauces and condiments for hot pot (no extra cost). It is great and with better hygiene that each person has his/her own hotpot with their preferred soup base. This place has an extensive list of soup base to choose from. I got the miso soup and it's good. We did the premium wagyu set, and added a couple more items on the side. The Japanese A5 Wagyu melts in your mouth. The Australian Wagyu is tasty and flavorful. It's delicious and everything is fresh. The menu lacks the traditional regular plain Chinese fish balls, beef meat balls, pork meat balls...etc It gets crowded during peak time, expect to wait for a table. It is located below an apartment complex. The parking garage has limited guest parking spots. Plan to park on the street when it gets busy.

Apparently the new Silicon Valley/South Bay thing is to get hot pot and Heytea. So my friends and I decide to try Mumu before getting boba. The restaurant is clean, service was ok, and the spot was pretty packed on the Saturday afternoon when we went. I ordered the single meat pack with yuzu shio broth. The meat quality is superb, topping selection is pretty good too, and I really liked the yuzu shio broth. Their sauce station has plenty of customization options too. Based on the quality of meat and toppings, I'd be open to dining here again. You do get a good amount of meat and toppings for the price, but I'd much rather pay for my hot pot by the pound instead of a set price.

Amazing experience! Loved the individual pots, meat and other plate selections. Fun sauce bar and service was great! Definitely will come back!

Haven't had this place in years! I would rate this place a 4.5/5! Quality of the ingredients were good and they had a decent sized sauce bar. Meat quality was quite good as well. I wish they had an option for smaller portion sized sets as I felt that the $33 option was too much food for me. However, I liked the variety of ingredients and how it came with two sides (of which I got fish ball w/ roe & shrimp balls w/ salted egg yolk). I got the tom yum broth and it was good, but definitely could've been better. Overall, I'd come back!

Thuy D.

Mumu Hot Pot is a great spot, especially if you appreciate high-quality ingredients. We had a solid experience overall, though I do have some thoughts on the broths! First off, the beef quality here is absolutely excellent. The meat is fresh, beautifully sliced, and cooks perfectly in the hot pot--definitely the highlight of the meal. To go along with the top-tier meats, their condiments bar has a wonderfully wide selection of fresh ingredients and sauces, making it super easy to mix up the perfect custom dip. For the broths, the Tom Yum was a massive standout. It is vibrant, incredibly flavorful, and highly recommended. However, I would probably skip the Spicy Broth next time. It was excessively oily, and we had to spend a lot of time and effort just fishing out all the loose dried peppers and spices before we could actually enjoy eating from it. Overall, a really enjoyable meal with top-tier meats and a great sauce station. I will definitely be returning, but I'll be sticking to that amazing Tom Yum broth!

Memi O.

Good portions, fresh meat, each order comes with vegetables (Napa cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, enoki mushrooms, normal mushrooms, tofu) so you don't need to order extra. Decent service. Sauce selection wasn't the most diverse and not as varied as Haidilao but it had the most iconic and popular options (sesame, chili, soy sauce, green onion, cilantro, etc) -- this is really fine with me, as long as they have peanut / sesame sauce I'm satisfied! Good amount of seating, and very clean. I went for a team offsite event for lunch and the place was around 50% packed for a 12-2pm Wednesday lunch. Coworker friend and I ordered the Classic for 2, so we could choose 3 meats! We chose the Wagyu chuck eye beef, wagyu toro beef, and short rib which were all pretty good.

Ask the Community - Mumu Hot Pot

Is Reservation needed? Or can we make a reservation?

Reservation is needed but you can only make it once you get there.

Is this all you can eat?

No but the most popular option, dinner for 2, will run you about $80 and you won't leave hungry.

Do they still have outdoor dining?

Not anymore

Are the soup base options vegetarian?

yes. they have mushrooms soup which is definitely vegetarian, but the tomato soup I am not quite sure.

When will you have tom yum back? because everytime i go there you guys don't have it.

When I visited (2/21) they had it! So it could be just small inventory problems. Best if you called before going there to order.

How many people can the outdoor tables sit?

I think around 6

For the meat lover combo, is it $48/person or $48 total?

It's the total price for the set, not a per-person price. I would recommend the American Kobe Beef upgrade for the additional $3.

What's the price for kids?

It is ala carte so depends on what you order

Is there MSG in the soups?

99.9% MSG Free.

Tonight I was craving a home style chicken and rice dish similar to what my mom makes . Now I know it's not possible to get that from a restaurant, but the closest to that is the Donne biryani preparation that a few places offer in the Bay Area. So I looked up Yelp and found this spot. The fact that it already had 4.9 stars was reassuring but I didn't put too many expectations on it. But what I did was call the place and make sure they'd be open by the time I made that 28 mile drive. I spoke to a person named Sagar who took my order and told me to take my time getting there and drive carefully! Husband and I got there around 9:30pm and it's a cloud kitchen setup with kitchens in the back and a point of sale kiosk and counter at the front. As instructed I called Sagar and he came up to the counter with my food, and also let me know he had added a free dessert since I drove all the way from Hayward . Husband and I got home and immediately dug in and what can I say, the flavors totally took me back to my mom's kitchen. The Donne biryani was bursting with taste, and what made it superb was that the flavors were in balance, with neither the spices nor the aromatics being overpowering in any way. The other dish, the pepper chicken was epic by itself, and should have been enjoyed with a bread of some sort, because the biryani didn't need any accompaniment. As if this meal wasn't divine enough the cherry on top was the pineapple kesari dessert that Sagar kindly added to our takeout bag. Thanks Nalapaka, for a taste of home, away from home !

The interior is clean and well kept (I guess more than you'd think looking at the little strip it is part of), and the wait staff are friendly. The parking lot for the strip mall this is in is on the small side, though, and may be tough to find parking during the lunch rush if you don't arrive early (and I would highly suggest carpooling). Unfortunately, the customer service left a lot to be desired. I arrived shortly after they opened, and there was no greeting or acknowledgment when I walked in, even though the restaurant was empty. Instead of confirming the order or asking any questions, the first thing I heard from the cook was, "Get her card first." The cashier then immediately said, "Give me your card." Only after my payment was processed did they hand me my food and say, "Thank you." I completely understand that businesses need to protect themselves and ensure orders are paid for before they're released. That's not the issue. It's the way it was handled. As a customer, it felt like I was being treated as if I might take the food and run, rather than being welcomed into a local, family-owned business. A simple greeting, confirming the order, and then politely requesting payment would have made all the difference. Great customer service and protecting your business can absolutely go hand in hand. The food was outstanding, but the experience made me feel unwelcome. Sadly, because of the customer service, I don't see myself returning.
