i tried this place out recently and it's pretty good! the interior is very clean and pretty spacious. the parking is a little bit tricky if the lot is full, but you can always park on the side road. also! if u come on a busy night, reservation time will range from 45min-1hr+ so be prepared to wait a bit. this restaurant uses QR codes for the menu and to place orders incase you are wondering! the servers are pretty nice and have helpful recommendations for first timers! one thing that i really like about this place is that the pot is built into the table, leaving more space for more meat and veggies :D the meats and vegetables were pretty fresh and the broth was pretty good. i got the sichuan spicy broth and it was hot but delicious (it has that numbing effect/taste if you are into that) !! overall i'd really like to come back, maybe on a day where it's less busy. i really loved the atmosphere here! yaayyyayyyy

The meat quality here is fantastic! We ordered the waygu combo and the non waygu option, just to try everything out. The waygu meat was rich and buttery. The seafood and veggies were all really fresh. The yuzu and miso broths were our favorite and were savory and delicious. Service was helpful but not always there when you needed them. The setting was clean but a bit basic - like dining in a nice cafeteria. My only complaint is the prices can be a tad expensive of you compare it to other equally great hot pot options around.

Mumu Hot Pot is a great spot, especially if you appreciate high-quality ingredients. We had a solid experience overall, though I do have some thoughts on the broths! First off, the beef quality here is absolutely excellent. The meat is fresh, beautifully sliced, and cooks perfectly in the hot pot--definitely the highlight of the meal. To go along with the top-tier meats, their condiments bar has a wonderfully wide selection of fresh ingredients and sauces, making it super easy to mix up the perfect custom dip. For the broths, the Tom Yum was a massive standout. It is vibrant, incredibly flavorful, and highly recommended. However, I would probably skip the Spicy Broth next time. It was excessively oily, and we had to spend a lot of time and effort just fishing out all the loose dried peppers and spices before we could actually enjoy eating from it. Overall, a really enjoyable meal with top-tier meats and a great sauce station. I will definitely be returning, but I'll be sticking to that amazing Tom Yum broth!

My First time at Mumu!! Review: 9/10 (updated!) Mumu Hot Pot stands out for balancing premium quality with a sleek, modern atmosphere. Following the recent renovations, the space feels elevated and fresh. The newly renovated interior is polished and modern, offering a clean, spacious environment that works for both casual lunches and date nights. The seats were spacious and comfortable as well. The individual hot pot setup provides a personalized experience, allowing for total control over broth selection and spice levels. And you order on your phone, great for those introverted hot pot lovers. High-Quality Ingredients! Known for fresh, marbled meats and bold broth bases like Tom Yum and Buttery spicy, paired with an extensive, DIY sauce bar! The vegetable platter was more than enough, already including bokchoy, fresh bean curb, cabbage, spinach, fried & fresh tofu. You get to choose 3 sides of your own. Highly recommend the shrimp balls with salted egg - tastes well with the soup. The 9/10 rating reflects a top-tier dining experience where the chic new aesthetic finally matches the high quality of the food. Loved the drinks options as well, the grape slush was a great addition to the food.

the quality of shabu here is really good, and I prefer it over most AYCE places. the service is actually surprisingly attentive compared to most similar spots.

Good but wouldn't wait an hr. A5 and the toro were bomb and very fairly priced. The regular prime black Angus beef short rib was solid for the price. Lamb wasn't great... I'd def skip that. Do get the Black tiger shrimp it was really good. Lastly, the broth was just ok nothing special. Overall, I don't quite understand the hype in terms of wait time but I will say the quality is good and the a5 and premium meats are pretty fairly priced. I don't think I'd make a detour but wouldn't mind coming back if I was in the area

1st time checking out this hot pot place, and it definitely won't be my last! This place stood out to me because each person gets their own individual pot to cook and enjoy. The restaurant only offers combo menus, with the option to add additional sides, and it's both halal- and vegetarian-friendly. I ordered the classic combo for two, which comes with 2 soup bases, 3 different kinds of meat, 3 sides, 2 rice or noodle options, and 1 large veggie platter. It was the perfect amount of food for two people. Their in-house beverages were really tasty too. I got the lime tea, and it was very refreshing paired with the hot pot. It's also a great spot for big groups to hang out and eat together. The restaurant is very clean and has a great ventilation system. We didn't leave smelling strongly like hot pot afterward, which was definitely a plus.

Great hotpot place to hangout with friends and family. This place is open and bright. It has a sauce bar with all the different sauces and condiments for hot pot (no extra cost). It is great and with better hygiene that each person has his/her own hotpot with their preferred soup base. This place has an extensive list of soup base to choose from. I got the miso soup and it's good. We did the premium wagyu set, and added a couple more items on the side. The Japanese A5 Wagyu melts in your mouth. The Australian Wagyu is tasty and flavorful. It's delicious and everything is fresh. The menu lacks the traditional regular plain Chinese fish balls, beef meat balls, pork meat balls...etc It gets crowded during peak time, expect to wait for a table. It is located below an apartment complex. The parking garage has limited guest parking spots. Plan to park on the street when it gets busy.

Apparently the new Silicon Valley/South Bay thing is to get hot pot and Heytea. So my friends and I decide to try Mumu before getting boba. The restaurant is clean, service was ok, and the spot was pretty packed on the Saturday afternoon when we went. I ordered the single meat pack with yuzu shio broth. The meat quality is superb, topping selection is pretty good too, and I really liked the yuzu shio broth. Their sauce station has plenty of customization options too. Based on the quality of meat and toppings, I'd be open to dining here again. You do get a good amount of meat and toppings for the price, but I'd much rather pay for my hot pot by the pound instead of a set price.

Haven't had this place in years! I would rate this place a 4.5/5! Quality of the ingredients were good and they had a decent sized sauce bar. Meat quality was quite good as well. I wish they had an option for smaller portion sized sets as I felt that the $33 option was too much food for me. However, I liked the variety of ingredients and how it came with two sides (of which I got fish ball w/ roe & shrimp balls w/ salted egg yolk). I got the tom yum broth and it was good, but definitely could've been better. Overall, I'd come back!

Good portions, fresh meat, each order comes with vegetables (Napa cabbage, bok choy, broccoli, enoki mushrooms, normal mushrooms, tofu) so you don't need to order extra. Decent service. Sauce selection wasn't the most diverse and not as varied as Haidilao but it had the most iconic and popular options (sesame, chili, soy sauce, green onion, cilantro, etc) -- this is really fine with me, as long as they have peanut / sesame sauce I'm satisfied! Good amount of seating, and very clean. I went for a team offsite event for lunch and the place was around 50% packed for a 12-2pm Wednesday lunch. Coworker friend and I ordered the Classic for 2, so we could choose 3 meats! We chose the Wagyu chuck eye beef, wagyu toro beef, and short rib which were all pretty good.

Meat lover combo. Tom Yum and Sukiyaki soup base.

The place isn't too hard to find! And there is ample parking available in the complex that this business is in. It was my first time coming here after seeing a few of my friends post about it! A few close friends and I made a reservation ahead of time to make it easier for us just in case they were busy that night we went. They have a lot of options but not to the point where it's overwhelming because there's too much to choose from. The ordering process was very straightforward and easy! *tip* you are able to adjust the spice level! But mind you, the spicy is actually really spicy!! So if you love spicy, then definitely go for it!! The meat quality is actually really good! I also enjoy how freshly their veggies are too. I would recommend getting a 2 person combo because it's definitely worth the price and it comes with 3 trays of the meat and sides. Don't forget to conjure up your own sauce at their sauce bar. And if you're lost / don't know what to get, they have some recommendations posted with what to exactly get so that you're not left there figuring out what goes good together. The inside feels modern and minimalist and it is clean! The bathroom is well kept. The staff are also very attentive and nice. I really enjoyed my first experience here overall. Great spot for catching up with friends, doing a little birthday dinner, or if you're just craving hot pot! I'll def. be back here again.

I've visited Mumu Hot Pot in Sunnyvale three times. The first was before the interior renovation, while the last two were after. I have to say, the place now has a much cleaner look, feels cozier, and is more comfortable thanks to the updated furniture. WAITLIST It's busy on the weekends, especially on Saturday afternoon/evening. There's a waitlist via Yelp. We've waited 45 minutes once on a Saturday evening. SERVICE The service is always good. The servers are swift at seating you and cleaning tables for the following patrons. They're very attentive and friendly. I've never had to ask for either a water or a broth refill. ORDERING There's a QR code on the table for scanning and ordering, with the option to pay online. The server has always asked me if it's my first time, which dictates whether they'll go over the basics of hot pot and how to order. FOOD I've always frequented Mumu in pairs, so it's easy to select the meal options for 2 people. There are 3 different meat tiers with varying price points. The lowest (The Classic) starts at $75. I've tried the Classic and Premium Wagyu sets; both are good, but you could tell the quality and how much tastier the Wagyu is. Honestly, it's a lot of food! I usually skip ordering rice or any noodles and enjoy proteins, sides, and all the veggies! The sauce bar is VERY ORGANIZED. I appreciate all the clear labels of all the sauces and the endless options. The broths are delicious. highly recommend the tom yum, creamy tomato, and teriyaki broths. My fav will always be tom yum and it's balanced here. The quality gets a star. Everything is so fresh and delicious! Highly recommend checking out Mumu! Especially if it's your first time, you'll get a good first experience here.

Mumu Hot Pot Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Mumu Hot Pot

Is Reservation needed? Or can we make a reservation?

Reservation is needed but you can only make it once you get there.

Is this all you can eat?

No but the most popular option, dinner for 2, will run you about $80 and you won't leave hungry.

Do they still have outdoor dining?

    Not anymore

Are the soup base options vegetarian?

yes. they have mushrooms soup which is definitely vegetarian, but the tomato soup I am not quite sure.

When will you have tom yum back? because everytime i go there you guys don't have it.

When I visited (2/21) they had it! So it could be just small inventory problems. Best if you called before going there to order.

How many people can the outdoor tables sit?

    I think around 6

For the meat lover combo, is it $48/person or $48 total?

It's the total price for the set, not a per-person price. I would recommend the American Kobe Beef upgrade for the additional $3.

    What's the price for kids?

It is ala carte so depends on what you order

Is there MSG in the soups?

    99.9% MSG Free.

The menu has so much variety, and every dish has complex flavor I don't think I would always find at vegan restaurants. I ordered the curry vermicelli soup and fried wontons, and both were absolutely delicious. The curry broth was rich and comforting, not too salty, while the wontons were crispy with the best dipping sauce you could ever imagine. The prices are also very reasonable for the quality and portion sizes. I live a bit far away, so I've only ordered delivery so far, but the food still arrived great. After this experience, I'm definitely making the trip to dine in and explore more of the menu soon!

Clear broth, comes with an assortment of vegan proteins, and it's been consistent every single time over the years. Best had in cold weather. The spicy noodle soup is solid too but it doesn't hit the same way. The SP4 gourmet deluxe is my other staple and I order it like an appetizer. The protein comes out fried with a crispy shell and soft inside. The sauce leans hard on lemongrass and citrus but it's savory throughout, not sweet. Haven't had anything like it anywhere else. Orange nuggets are chewy with a citrusy and sweet glaze. Good enough that I skip the actual appetizers for these. The Szechuan Pineapple is spicy, salty, and savory with chewy gluten and a citrus undertone running through it. Green papaya salad is strictly sour and tangy. Fresh, nothing heavy about it. Sweet potato curry is definitely underrated. Potato goes soft all the way through and the whole thing tastes hearty without being heavy. Basil eggplant tofu skews sweet and the eggplant goes silky and it's a family favorite. Eggplant claypot has the same idea but the sauce is better and it comes out in the claypot which makes it feel like a proper dish. Jalapeno BBQ seitan was a miss. The BBQ sauce tastes flat. Staff is friendly and food comes out fast.

Tonight I was craving a home style chicken and rice dish similar to what my mom makes . Now I know it's not possible to get that from a restaurant, but the closest to that is the Donne biryani preparation that a few places offer in the Bay Area. So I looked up Yelp and found this spot. The fact that it already had 4.9 stars was reassuring but I didn't put too many expectations on it. But what I did was call the place and make sure they'd be open by the time I made that 28 mile drive. I spoke to a person named Sagar who took my order and told me to take my time getting there and drive carefully! Husband and I got there around 9:30pm and it's a cloud kitchen setup with kitchens in the back and a point of sale kiosk and counter at the front. As instructed I called Sagar and he came up to the counter with my food, and also let me know he had added a free dessert since I drove all the way from Hayward . Husband and I got home and immediately dug in and what can I say, the flavors totally took me back to my mom's kitchen. The Donne biryani was bursting with taste, and what made it superb was that the flavors were in balance, with neither the spices nor the aromatics being overpowering in any way. The other dish, the pepper chicken was epic by itself, and should have been enjoyed with a bread of some sort, because the biryani didn't need any accompaniment. As if this meal wasn't divine enough the cherry on top was the pineapple kesari dessert that Sagar kindly added to our takeout bag. Thanks Nalapaka, for a taste of home, away from home !

The interior is clean and well kept (I guess more than you'd think looking at the little strip it is part of), and the wait staff are friendly. The parking lot for the strip mall this is in is on the small side, though, and may be tough to find parking during the lunch rush if you don't arrive early (and I would highly suggest carpooling). When I arrived, there were plenty of parking spots, and the restaurant was empty. The parking lot is a bit small, so I imagine it can be tricky to find a spot when it's busy. I can't say much about the ambiance or service because it was a quick in-and-out experience. When I got to my car, I immediately vented the General's Chicken container and left the plastic bag open because I wanted to make sure it was still crispy when I got home. Note to the restaurant: I really appreciate when restaurants cut holes in the corners of containers for crispy/fried foods to keep them from getting too soggy. Having some venting for the steam to escape really helps. General's Chicken was my go-to before I went vegan, so I was really excited to find a vegan version. When I ordered on DoorDash, the General's Chicken had three spice levels: Medium, Mild, and Spicy. I went with Spicy, but the sauce didn't taste spicy to me at all. It was also super gingery, which I'm not used to. The sauce wasn't bad, but it didn't remind me of the typical General Tso sauce I'm used to. That said, I did enjoy the crispy texture, broccoli, and bell peppers. I'd rate this a 3.5/5. Yelp AI mentioned that the Black Pepper Chicken was the highest-rated item, so I decided to try the Black Pepper Chicken Chow Mein. At first bite, I was unsure of it, but as I kept eating, I enjoyed it more and more. I love that they include so many veggies, it really adds to the dish. I would give this a 4/5. Overall, I thought the food was good. I can definitely see myself ordering other items from here next time I get a craving for Chinese takeout.

One thing to note: they used to have a proper dine-in space before, but now it's mostly takeaway. However, you can still eat on-site as they have chairs and tables set up. Neat ambience overall.

There was plenty of outdoor seating, and the service was speedy. You order on a kiosk, which makes for a streamlined ordering process. The food is always solid - I love all of their thali selections. This location was much more peaceful compared to the Palo Alto location. I stopped by on a Saturday evening, and there were only a couple tables that were occupied. I will say I feel like the portion sizes here are noticeably smaller than those at the Palo Alto location. This might be because all of the orders are packed to-go, so maybe there's less space for food? For instance, the thali from the Palo Alto location includes a side salad, which was not included in my order here. The other sides (pickled salad and daal lentil), along with the entree, were also significantly smaller here. The prices are the same, so I do think the Palo Alto dishes are more worth it.
