Update: the service here is 5/5 burger combos here are 5/5 it's delicious and I recommend adding an egg on it. My vegan husband liked the veggie burger too! the philly sub here is 3.5/5 my friend loved it but it's not as good as philly's best or charlies subs the spicy green beans here are 4/5 very tasty! the pizza here is 3.5/5 not the best pizza, and not the worst but good for the price. I think if they had a better quality sauce I would love it because I really liked the toppings and crust. Today was our first time to visit Home Plate and I can't believe what we've been missing! Juicy, generous and delicious cheeseburgers with hot crispy fries in a small, clean, family oriented, neighborhood style, down home cooking eating establishment. I had lunch here for the second time. What a great hidden gem in Goleta. They have quite the variety of delicious choices. I had a double Cheeseburger with bacon and Guacamole. The burger was cooked just right, the Guacamole was fresh with a nice zip of heat to it, and the bacon cooked just how I like, not too crispy but still a little chewy. They put the lettuce, tomato, and pickles on the side for you to apply in your own way. I leave off the pickles. The lettuce and tomato were fresh and crisp. Service was fast and friendly. And there was quite a crowd when I was there. They even came by to ask how I liked it. Plenty of seating inside and a couple of tables outside. Order at the counter and they bring you your food. They also bus the tables when you are done. They have Pizza and Pasta on the menu as well as a big variety of appetizers that I will have to go back to sample. Cold sandwiches and hot sandwiches and soup are also available. Their menu is online and they deliver to the area. There are 2 TVs tuned to sports as you might imagine. The place looked spotless and they keep it clean. Give them a try. It would be a great place to feed the family in my opinion. Prices were very reasonable too. read more

A group of 4 families had just come back from a weekend of camping and we were looking for a place to eat along our route back to Los Angeles. We couldn't have found a better place than Home Plate Grill! They had friendly service, could accommodate our large group with kids, and had a wide range of food options on the menu. Our whole group was satisfied with this choice! We ordered everything from the pizza to sandwiches to the pasta and shakes. Everything was delicious. I especially loved all the spicy options too (I ordered "The Connie" sandwich). Bottom line I would highly recommend. Plan to stop by again next time I'm in town to try the breakfast items! We came here for breakfast two months ago, and it was great! So we were thinking let's eat locally for dinner. Worst idea ever. We got wings and garlic fries for appetizers--the fries were cold, oily, and extremely soggy...and our wings were not even half covered in sauce. The plates were dirty ... then, for dinner we ordered nachos and a Philly cheesesteak. the cheesesteak was good, BUT the nachos were horrible, we paid for the tri tip and there was barely any. Let's just say there was more guacamole than meat and that's when you know they didn't even try. We've also tried their pizza since everyone in g-town loves them, but honestly that was also pretty mediocre. On a road trip with family and was looking for breakfast near Santa Barbara. We went to Home Plate and had a great meal- French toast, huevos rancheros and a egg and pancake bacon breakfast. We were able to sit outside of restaurant - they have some tables spaced out in front. We were able to enjoy our hot meal. The staff checked on us a few times and were pleased with everything. Cool little pizza joint tucked away in a neighborhood that's probably out of your way unless you live in it. The selections here are many. Not just pizza, they have burgers, sandwiches, soups, and I'm not sure what else. It's a little overwhelming looking a the big chalkboard menu when you first come in. The food is always tasty and the staff is very friendly and helpful. Sometimes I will happen in there for lunch on a Mon or Tues when the special is two slices of pizza for $3. They are large slices so that's about the best deal I've seen anywhere besides a Costco hotdog. If you're in the area, stop by, great spot. read more

This place serves the best food at very reasonable prices. Pizza, burgers, fries of different types, tri-tip, hot dogs, sausages are all so good! My favorite is the mango habanero burger. Dude what is this place?!? It's in an unexpected little nook of Goleta and their menu is nuts. It goes on for days and is full of enough tasty options to make your fried food hungry head spin. We got jalapeño poppers and mango habanero burgers and garlic fries and I could hardly get through half of it. But not because of the taste. My boyfriend got the special guac and bacon cheeseburger and I ordered the brisket-sirloin cheeseburger with bacon. Both were fantastic, but the garlic fries were ridiculously tasty.
