Home Slice Pizza delivers on quality across the board. The pies were excellent--nice crispy crust with great flavor in every bite. Service was solid, and the atmosphere made it an easy place to relax and enjoy a meal. They also have a good variety of brews on tap, which pairs perfectly with the pizza. Don't skip the meatball sub--it's substantial and just as satisfying as the pies. Overall, a great spot I'd gladly come back to.

Call it Home Slice Sub because it's that good! My go to: Italian Assorted. I cannot pin point what makes it that delicious!? Shredded lettuce, tomatoes, deli, provolone cheese, oil, vinegar with toasted bread equal perfection. Half sub is plenty filling so well worth the price. I'd prefer to dine in since the bread is still toasty and crispy, but if you have to take out, just know that it doesn't get soggy. I always sit in the takeout area, or outside. No service so just in and out. And if the staff are available, they will for sure check in on you, which is always appreciated!

Stopped by for lunch and was greeted by a friendly face. I didn't make it inside as I saw they had a walk up order window outside. Ordering was quick and easy and the gentleman who took my order offered me complimentary water which was perfect for this hot day. The pizza was reasonably priced and I was left wishing I'd ordered a second slice . The pizza tasted light and fresh, not too greasy and it was a decent size! Looking forward to coming back to enjoy the chill vibes again and check out inside!

Home Slice Pizza on S. Congress is a popular Austin spot known for its New York-style, thin-crust pizza. Even if you're not a pizza enthusiast (like us), their crisp-yet-chewy slices are worth trying. The restaurant was busy with both locals and tourists. The staff was notably energetic and friendly as they called customers names for both on-site dining and "to go" orders. Home Slice Pizza dough is made from water, salt, olive oil, yeast, and flour, then fermented for 72 hours for consistency. Toppings include options like fresh basil, black and green olives, mushrooms, onions, pepperoni, sausage, extra cheese, and more, with premium toppings such as fried eggplant, ricotta, artichoke hearts, meatballs, and vegan cheese available for an additional charge. We had the Margherita pizza, which was good and not overly filling. Super busy environment...

Forever an Austin staple. This last round we skipped the pizza for the half Caesar salad and the half Italian sandwich. It was enough for two to share I know the sticker shock hurts if you see the whole sandwich ($22!!) but I'm telling you.. the hype is worth it.

Great pizza - perfect crust. Highly recommend the vegan! Also tried the pepperoni / mushroom.

Home Slice Pizza never disappoints! The flavor of their pizza is great and I especially love their crust. I live in Temple, but I make it a point to visit Home Slice whenever I'm in Austin. They have two locations and both are great. I really enjoy people watching at the Congress Ave. location. The service is great and they've made an effort to increase their outdoor seating. Everybody's just out there doing their own thing. Love it!

Dec 13, 2025 review: ---- This is one of those late night cravings place but with the good food quality. They have 2-3 options for vegetarian in their slice options. Super easy to order. You can just order through the window, no need to walk inside restaurant. Plenty of seating both outside and inside. Outside is also huge with place to sit in front, side and back area. Full menu is also available with salad, calzone, full size pizza portions. 1-2 pizza slice maybe a enough for one person depending on how hungry you are. It's decent size pie. They do have chilli flakes and oregano (which I hardly find at any pizza place). Overall really good place to keep in mind if you have late night cravings for pizza.

We loved it so much we got Home Slice again for a party later that night.

Home Slice Pizza in Austin is officially the best pizza I've ever had, and I'm not being dramatic. The slices are MASSIVE, like "you have to fold it or you're going to wear it" huge. The crust had that perfect chew, and it was just straight up great pizza. We ate there and loved it so much that later that night we threw a little party and ordered Home Slice (again) delivered, and it still hit just as hard the second time! Everyone at the party loved it. Don't skip dessert! Their cookie was legit, so soft and loaded with chocolate chunks. For some reason, an awesome cookie paired with the best pizza is an elite combo. The dine in area isn't huge, but they're always busy because they're that good, and it's worth the wait. Sitting inside isn't impossible though, and it has a really cute old-school pizzeria vibe that feels authentic (not in a gross way). The staff is INCREDIBLY nice too and went out of their way for me multiple times, which just made me love the place even more. If you're in Austin, this is a must. Go hungry, plan on leftovers, and accept that folding your slice is part of the experience. Easy 5 stars from me.

Home Slice gets a lot of hype in Austin but I truly believe it really is that good... it's some of the best NY style pizza you can get here in Austin and the subs are PHENOMENAL! They're open late, the pricing is reasonable, and the portion size is fantastic! FAST FACTS: * Parking - small lot in front of the building with some neighborhood parking nearby(can be tricky if they're busy) * Online ordering - available for pickup on their website * Pizza available by the slice or pie * Counter to the left when you enter for pickup orders and pizza by the slice SERVICE - We arrived at 9:20 pm on a Saturday night (on their 20th birthday celebration) and were seated right away. They were busy but the service was great... our server Nate took care of us from start to finish and made sure we had everything we needed. We ordered everything at once and they brought out the 2 slices first (about 20 minutes after ordering) followed by the subs (10 minutes later). PRICING - The total was $61.98 after tax ($4.73) but before tip for an iced tea ($3.50), pepperoni slice ($4.75), white pie with spinach slice ($5), whole meatball sub ($22) and whole Italian sub ($22). At first, $22 for a sub might sound steep but they are MASSIVE... two people could split a sub and be good to go! I think the pricing is reasonable for the portion size. PEPPERONI SLICE (8/10) - Classic NY style and it's done right... the crust is what makes it! It's foldable but not floppy and the pepperoni are crispy but not burnt. It's a great slice of pizza! I'd order this again. WHITE PIE WITH SPINACH SLICE (7/10) - This was one of the daily offerings for slices and I wanted to try something different... it was super cheesy and good! I'd probably get a different slice next time but I'm happy I tried it. ITALIAN SUB (8/10) - First of all, it's MASSIVE! The sesame seed bun is different but it works! There's also mayo on it which I really enjoyed. This is one of the best Italian subs I've had, especially in Austin. I'd order this again. MEATBALL SUB (8/10) - Again, It's MASSIVE. It's loaded from the top so it holds together pretty well. The meatballs are flavorful and juicy, it has the right amount of marinara sauce, and the cheese is super melty. Just like with the Italian subs, it's one of my favorite meatball subs here in Austin. I'd order this again. This was my second time trying this Home Slice location and I've also been to the SoCo location... both are great but this one is less busy. I'll definitely be back when I want NY style pizza or a massive sub (especially late) and would recommend it to others. Don't be afraid to get more food than you think you'll eat and take it home (both the pizza and subs reheat well and don't get soggy)!

Yeah, I'm doing the classic Home Slice review in Austin. But it really is as good as everyone says and it's a reason that this place is an Austin staple. Despite the soco location being the most well known, I am more fond of their spot down off airport blvd. First off, every time I go, the staff are so sweet and kind. Always so friendly and welcoming. I also prefer the outdoor seating and generally homey vibe of this location. On to the pizza, yeah it's that good. Every slice I've had is cooked perfectly with the crust having a light crunch that you just want to keep chewing. The toppings are loaded on top and the price for a single slice is really good when you take into account just how big they are. I also love getting a caesar salad to pair.

    2. White Pie with Spinach
    Poonam P.

The soco location is great, but I find this location superior! It's very homey. The interior is eclectic, and their patio is the spot when the weather is nice. Get here early because once school is out, it starts getting packed and the line for a table can get long. And it can get dirty if that's not your vibe with the kids running around, then sit inside. You have to get a sandwich and a pizza if you've never tried Home Slice. The sandwiches are so good (and there's a veggie option), and ask for the pizza to be crispy!

First time visiting Home Slice's E 53rd St location! There's a small parking lot out front and some spots along the side. We came on a Wednesday around 4 pm, and were seated almost immediately. The interior design is very charming, complete with red gingham tablecloths and ambient lighting. (Side note, their bathrooms are quite nice too.) Our friend group all decided to go for "Pizza by the Slice." The slice pies change everyday and there are both thin crust and Sicilian (deep dish style, available until 5 pm) options available. Initially was going to order the Sicilian Pepperoni, but decided to try out the Special Slice after our server finished describing the options! Special Slice/White Pie ($5.00, 5/5) - The white pie comes topped with spinach and a good amount of ricotta! Very flavorful, and the ricotta was rich and creamy. - The (thin) crust was well-seasoned, warm & crispy - Fan favorite out of the group (with many of us getting another slice to-go). Overall, Home Slice is a great meet-up spot for delicious pizza! Would highly recommend giving the white pie a try if you haven't already. Will definitely be back to visit again!

Last week I was on a break from keto, and my husband read my mind. He took me here as the first stop on a rainy Friday night date. I know they have good sandwiches, but they also have their "bait shop" schtick. They're not near any significant fishing spots, and I didn't see any evidence of bait, but whatever. Their sandwiches are good, so they can get away with it. While I ate my sandwich on the patio, we discussed the novelty nature of many Austin businesses, and which ones can hold up and which ones are pure hype. I ordered the Club sandwich. It's not a true triple-decker club, but it was the sandwich that had the best variety of fillings in my opinion. Everything you'd expect in a classic club, but easier to eat because it wasn't stacked absurdly tall like other clubs. The sourdough bread was very crispy, and the meats, cheese, and vegetables worked well inside. On the side I got potato salad which I like more than their other option, which was chips, but the potato salad wasn't anything special. Their patio was the perfect spot to enjoy a rainstorm. They have some glider chairs off to the side that are good for lounging on, but when it really started to rain we moved in to the center of the patio. I'm glad I got a chance to try Handsome Dan's. I doubt I'll be back anytime soon because huge sandwiches like this need to be an occasional treat for me, but if you're in the Springdale area looking for a satisfying meal, this is it!

The parking is shared and gets packed in the evening or you have to pay to park if you are unable to find anything in the lot or on the street. Handsome Dans has a sign directing you to the back where they are located. The vibe is true to a bait shop/diner it's casual with a rustic feel, they have a large covered patio adjacent to Stargazer bar. I highly suggest sitting outside if possible because the inside does get a bit claustrophobic and smokey when it's packed and they are smashing paninis on the press with no proper kitchen overhead vents. The type of greasy smoke you get when you are making super buttery sandwiches on a hot press. The sandwiches are ok but not something I would go out of my way to have ,our kids liked the hotdogs and Frito pies which were also kind of "upper class" gas station quality. Most of the stuff here is food that probably tastes way better after drinking several beers. It's like any normal sandwich you could make at home and toss in a panini press to be honest. Really good beers on tap and friendly staff who seemed to disappear to the back quite a bit and came back confused. They didn't know if they had already given me my food because I was ordering and paying for extra food after more people in our party arrived. They literally saw my food I already had on the table from my previous order and thought they gave me double of what I ordered hahaha. I can't make a judgment because I have no clue what they kept dispersing to the back for but can just say the confusion was real, LOL. All together if I had to come back it be because someone I knew wanted to try it. Otherwise for me it's a one and done. I got the pictures I stood next to a sign ,I had the Signiture sandwiches, now I'm moving on. I can say I've been there done that. I'm guessing that a college crowd or just being a single person who just wants to be amongst people that this is the type of lowkey place to go if you're not into the typical Longhorn hangouts. You stop in ,have some beers, eat a low budget ingredient expensive panini sandwich and chill till you have to call yourself a Waymo cause the beer is good and strong.

Thus, no location is aware or can predict what will be on their menu for soup specials each day through the week. However, other than their daily specials, they usually have a set soup menu. Their soups are served in a paper cup, and you can get crackers and oyster crackers with them. They also offer grilled cheese sandwiches. Those sandwiches are, well, pretty small and simple. I've had their Apple-Muenster Grilled Cheese, no complaints. Don't expect to be filled up on that though. Again, smoothies are where it's at. They offer monthly smoothie specials, discounted daily smoothie specials, and staff favorite creations. Of course, you can always create and customize your own. I tend to get their matcha, turmeric, or banana and nut based smoothies. Any sweetness is obtained from their fruits used, but sometimes date syrup is used as an ingredient. Anyways, smoothies are yum, and that's why I keep coming back.
