Home Slice is an awesome experience. I use them for work a ton but I think I am going to start taking my out of town guests here too. They have lots of things on the menu to accomodate different dietary needs. My favorite item on the menu is the Sicilian style pizza but I haven't ate anything there I haven't loved. The lemonade also hits the spot. We often have sat outside on the patio in the middle of summer. It is well shaded and has lots of misters. This was my second trip to Austin and Hole Slice came highly recommended north trips. This was the first time I was able to make it by for a slice. Overall I'd say the pizza is good not great. The ingredients were fresh and the crust has a nice crunch, IMO the red sauce didn't really stand out to make the pizza one I'd seek out on a return visit. I'd give the pizza a 6.5 on the Portnoy scale. We also ordered a side of wings which were $9 for 6 tasty but TINY wings, so they felt incredibly overpriced. These were tiny even by fast food/chain standards (Zaxby's, BWW, etc). Maybe we caught it on a bad day or maybe it was just a matter of the hype over inflating my expectations, over all I'd say the pizza and wings are at best just a little better than average. read more

Oh my god, this is my second time having home slice and I'm in love. I don't know how they do it, but their pizza crust is thin but also so crispy! I feel like so few places are able to achieve a thin crust with toppings and also preserve the crispness, it usually gets pretty soggy in the middle but not Home Slice. There weren't too many slice flavor options by the time we arrived pretty late in the evening, but I think any of their slices would taste amazing and they're usually pretty standard toppings such as cheese, pepperoni, sausage and onion, etc. My favorite was the Margherita! Unfortunately during those COVID times, there is no more dine in but they have a nice organized system where you can order take out at the outside window and they'll bring the pizza to your car. Their pizza is amazing, highly recommend the Sicilian pie. This review is to warn you about the wings. When this location first opened we tried them and thought they were okay, nothing special. Tonight I had a hankering for Buffalo wings and garlic knots, so I decided to order from homeslice. Thank goodness I ordered more than the wings because they were SO SMALL. Like... there was maybe 3 wings worth of meat between them. On top of that, they were overcooked and it was like eating jerky. The only saving grace for these wings was the Buffalo sauce... it is really spicy and delicious. To their credit, the staff added two additional wings (so I got 8 instead of 6)... but honestly I can't believe homeslice would even serve these. My husband and I are new to Austin and Home Alice has become a favorite for us!! The pizza is always so yummy!! We have now been sitting inside at the bar and we just love that! LOVE the decor at this location of HSP! The creative use of blazae artwork was impressive. The service we received from Heather was top notch. The prices were fair and the cocktails were well balanced. The play area outside was very well thought out and is a great place for parents to enjoy along with their kids. The miniature golf area was shaded, which was a huge plus. They also have a large area dedicated just for to-go orders. If you want to share pies with other people at your table, the server can split up the cost with ease. The tender crust infused with the right amount of garlic leaves you with delicious pizza bones to enjoy. My only feedback is that I would like to see more pepperoni on the Sicilian pie. read more

The newest HSP location is my new favorite hang out! The interior design, graphics, art, layout and vibe makes me giddy with happiness! I went with our daughter io and we had the Caesar Salad (which was rather flavorless) BUT the calzone we split was yummy x 10! Most of all, though, the staff is friendly, fun and knowledgeable. In my humble opinion, they have the best pizza in Austin. That's what I like though, so regardless of my taste.... They're always busy. Very busy. For a good reason. It's not uncommon to walk-in to a full bar and a 45 min wait. It never takes that long though, and they have multiple places you can get a drink, or anything to snack on while you wait. You can even just get your dinner in a kitchen area if you don't want to sit down and enjoy the vibe. Which is awesome by the way. Staff is super friendly, accommodating, diverse, and great. Management is also very attentive and friendly. Constantly checking on you and making sure things are running smoothly. One of the things that really sits with me though.... If they ever accidentally mess up your order, your drink, their service, literally anything..... they go out of their way to fix it. To me? Not impressed. The crust. I needed to have marinara sauce to finish it. That should never happen. The sauce on the pizza was menial. Not enough sauce. And didn't have enough flavor. Cheese was poor. Felt spongey. For goodness sake the cheese should be stretchy and be a mini fight to cut the cheese from stretching farther than your arm length. The cheese should burn the top of my mouth while the crust rough houses with it. It needs to be a fight in my mouth and I hell as didn't get it. Garlic knots??? Too big. Too much bread. Not enough garlic. No olive oil drizzle. Jus mini garlic peices too crispy to taste. Buffalo wings. Way too small. Barely had meat. Buffalo sauce was good, but the meat was way too dry. Wow what a fantastic upgrade! Same great Home Slice Pizza with a much better space! Our server was a pie guru full of wonderful tips and help! She made the experience even better! We met a bunch of Welcome Wagon friends here for lunch after their bike ride event, so very glad we came! The pizza is fantastic (no surprise there) and the drinks were top notch. They brought out dough to play with for our kids and all. The outside has a fenced in play area, the outside bar has misters, and so does the outside seating area. Lots of room inside too... great decor and it just oozes coolness! There just isn't much to say about the Pizza accept... IT IS FANTASTIC!! Very very VERY good! Finally made it to Home Slice! I hadn't been to the S. Congress location but had it on my radar for a long time. I had heard lots of great things about the pizza, and I can see what all the hype is about. The individual slices are generous in size and have a thin crust with just the right amount of crisp and crunch so the bottom doesn't fall out into an oily mess. I would agree with others saying that it's probably the best pizza in Austin. The garlic knots are solid as well. This location is actually fairly swanky inside - nice decor and seating. Definitely check out the bathrooms and all the amenities they have - mouthwash, mints, spray deodorant, tampons, and much, much more. Not something you see in most places these days! The wait can be long if you're coming in at peak hours. The first time I tried to stop by, the wait was 45 minutes for 2 people. So I tried again at an awkward off-peak day/time and there was no wait and just a few other tables seated. There is a parking lot, but again if you're coming at a busy time, you might not have luck finding a spot. But it's busy for a reason and well worth checking out! read more

I must say, there are Very limited options for some good apizzza in Austin. I'm pretty particular about my pie, coming from New Haven... I often feel let down. This new location is an absolute hit on everything from interior design to the 'The Fold Hold' - On my second visit here, I went with a white pie, half clams, and half broccoli. Can they benefit from using fresh clams instead of canned? yes... but c'mon now. Take what you can get, it's a very solid attempt and beyond satisfying. It's hard to go wrong with any of their options really. Post up at the bar, make some new friends over a pint and a slice, friendly staff makes it even better! I'm happy I can now add another pizza joint into my weekly cravings, which previously was only Little Deli. The outside bar, in the winter (which doesn't exist here) will be my go-to spot, this pace is well designed, thinking of everything from the dedicated takeout area, to the booth seating, and outdoor space. I realize this is a local favorite, and that I'm probably in the minority on this, but to me, their pizza is not more than a 3 out of 5. In they were in NY, their pizza would rank somewhere in the middle: decent, not bad, not the best. The garlic knots are good. Much of the rest of their offerings suck: their buffalo wings are tiny, shriveled, hard and lacking meat and flavor; their salads are pretty abysmal; the meatballs are just ok. Etc. Their sandwiches look decent but I haven't tried them. For the life of me, I can't understand restaurants that can't offer a good salad. It's so easy to make, and making it well doesn't cost more than making it poorly. I would recommend the chefs to order some salads from Pinthouse, to see how salads should be prepared! Overall, I would rate their food as 2.5-3 out of 5. Where this place gets a good grade is decor and ambiance. The decor is very New York, and feels like a solid NY pizza joint. The ambiance is great - busy, friendly, good energy overall. Extra bonus for parents with kids: they have a play area where tons of kids play, so the adults can hang out while they play. These factors take it from 2.5 to 3.5. 4 if I'm generous. Since I'm a parent, we occasionally go there, because the kids like their pizza and the play area keeps them busy. Home slice has been my go-to pizza spot since I moved to Austin; however, it was because of tonight that I felt I had to leave a review, not focusing on their pizza but their quality of service. Tonight I ordered 1 white pie, 1 sausage and red pepper pie, a Greek salad, and some Mexican cokes to go. I arrived at the north loop location a at 5:56 for my pickup time at 5:55 and was informed that my pizza was on the way out but one had to be remade or "on the fly" because they accidentally added a topping because they were so busy, so they were remaking a new one. I assured them that it was no problem and asked if I could get an espresso while I waited, to which they said that it was no problem and not to worry about it as it would be on the house while I waited for my pizza to be remade. They also brought me an ice water while I waited- it's the little things, especially when it's 106 degrees outside. Anyways, right before my order was ready, the girl explains to me that the accidental topping that was added to the original pie was onions and asked if I would still like to take the additional pizza to which I said "sure, why not!". Everyone was so full of energy, attentive, and happy to be serving even though they were absolutely flooded with customers! Once I got home I realized that not only had I come home with an extra free pie and free espresso but also a bag of garlic knots. I would have been just as happy to go home with what I had ordered originally but Home Slice really went above and beyond to provide excellent service and with beaming, genuine smiles on their faces.
