Soooo nobody was gonna tell me about one of thee best breakfast/ brunch spots? Well, I door dashed Friday and received some of the best food Ive wrapped my lips around in a small minute. Here's the list: Sunrise, Jolly green, Power BLT, Baked Oatmeal, Croissant French Toast, Salsa Verde Pork &Eggs, Homemade Blueberry Tart and Carrot Cake Pancakes. Something tells me you just can't wait to hear.. the Fresh squeezed Sunrise & Jolly Green juice were so fresh and refreshing my goodness they were like little liquid vitamins drinks. The green went down so smooth with a hint of sweetness. The sunrise was just right for first thing in the morning carrot juice mixture I don't think we get enough of carrot juice but I felt so alive after drinking enough too go in on that Savory Satisfying Salsa Verde and it with the over easy egg on top to bring it home. When delivered it was still hot, the pork was so moist and seasoned darn well the salsa brought the entire thing together with that warm egg yolk I almost hurt myself it is a must try. Then comes the Large Power BLT with added grilled chicken. Listen to me you have to add the grilled chicken it takes it to a whole'nother level with the hickory smoky bacon cooked perfectly the kale and the brussel sprouts bean sprouts grape tomatoes it's just loaded goodness and the dressing being oil based seasons the green because they are raw so keep that in mind. You can literally feed 2-3 people with this salad. It's gonna be a summer staple for me no doubt!!!! Now comes the Baked Oatmeal - I've never had baked oatmeal but I believe they may have changed my mind with the berries I can't explain the warm goodness I think it was cinnamon but the oatmeal is so incredibly inviting so moist and chewy almost like an oatmeal cookie added berries for sweetness I added cream too it and let all my cares extinguish themselves. The Croissant French Toast- is RICH absolutely Rich, buttery toasted 3 pieces of goodness with a great helping of syrup. I say have some eggs and bacon some kind of fat or acidic beverage to cut through the richness, it put me to sleep when I finished it. We have the Homemade Blueberry Tart- ok let's talk.. flaky, buttery, when you break off a piece you layers of dough like someone loves their job. The filling on the inside compared to dough was perfect and very blueberry light sweetness, it's a cross between pop tart and toaster strudel but better. The icing kinda rubbed off in the bag but it was just enough and sprinkles to enjoy. I really liked that!! Yep, I saved the best for last those super moist Carrot Cake Pancakes, where have they been all my life huh where have they been? Just a simple sweet carrot cake with syrup you might as well say, like sponges just absorb the syrup to put you in a food coma and gone add a pad of butter as if, well as if it needed to be rich too flavor explosion just all over the place. I've never had that flavor pancake before but I will again. I wish I knew about this place before now, but it is one great find for any day or any occasion. Every item purchased was made, prepared and packaged with care. HomeGrown clearly loves their job because great things are coming out of that kitchen. I was very impressed my favorites are the Power BLT added grilled chicken and those Carrot Cake Pancakes. I've found another way to get my veggies . If you have not tried this place you got to and apparently they have some several locations. Picture time! I also posted my order and price shall you wanna take a walk on the tasty side of life. I really love HomeGrown Brunch and will definitely keep coming back. The food is usually fresh and delicious, and the service is consistently friendly. On a previous visit, I had the gluten-free pancakes and asked if they could add blueberries. They were happy to accommodate, and they turned out amazing! This last visit was a little different. The service was a bit slow, but nothing terrible. I decided to try the chilaquiles after a recommendation, and I wish I had stuck with their classic breakfast items instead. The sauce tasted more store-bought than homemade, there was very little added pork, and the dish was underwhelming overall. Meanwhile, my friends ordered the traditional American breakfast plates, and everything looked fresh and tasted great. I'd definitely recommend HomeGrown Brunch--just stick to what they do best: their classic breakfast menu. It's always fresh, flavorful, and worth coming back for. read more

This is my go - to for brunch after church on Sunday! It's a busy rather hectic place when you first enter! I got online and secured a spot on the waitlist prior to arriving. It worked perfectly. Enjoyed this restaurant during restaurant week. Be sure to get on the waiting list on Yelp before you go! This place was packed but service was great. I love the honey bee latte. The cinnamon coffee cake is amazing, especially with the warm caramel sauce, and it's a huge serving! The pork salsa verde with 2 eggs is a crowd favorite for a reason--it's very tasty. The eggs over easy were PERFECTLY cooked. I initially tried the brown sugar and cinnamon pop'd heart and I was really, really disappointed with it. I don't know if it was old, or didn't have a ton of filling, or what the problem was but it was so dry that my mouth felt like sandpaper. The filling was as hard and dry as the icing on top, which is like a dry glaze so it was very tough. I took one bite after I sawed a fork full off and thought on top of the dryness, it has no flavor. I told the waitress and I was so happy they made it right by replacing it with the coffee cake, which was very, very good! Thank you!!! read more

Quality breakfast/lunch spot. On the weekends you need to use the waitlist feature through Yelp. It saved us so much time. The service was good and fast. They are organized and do not leave you wanting for anything. Our server asked about hot sauce and ketchup while we were ordering and the bought them to the table before the food. The food was also so fast. You will wait longer for a table than you will for the food. I got the BLT.A.E. I love a breakfast sandwich and this one holds up. Bacon was cooked well the Mayo was just enough so the sandwich wasn't dry. The egg and avocado just made it all better. My only ish with the whole thing are the chips. This is my favorite breakfast place! Food I have always found is delicious! Make sure HG to keep what made people love you in the beginning be what they still love you for now! The little touches count. Great food, kind and contentious servers ( for coffee, water etc), food delivered hot and fresh and consistent and on point so that you continue to keep being everyone's 1st choice Breakfast spot! Pancakes are delicious! I will say get on the waitlist early because it is popular and can be a crazy wait. Very nice you can put your self on a waitlist. I have been to the Shawnee location and the atmosphere is lacking a bit compared to the Leawood location. It seems louder, less private, the super high ceilings make it feel less cozy. I enjoyed this for brunch with my friend. We were on the waitlist briefly (less than 10mins) and enjoyed sitting on the patio! The waitstaff were very friendly and gave us some tips on the menu. We split a Key Like Pop'd Heart, it was excellent. Then I got the Chilliqueas and a juice: The Sunshine. The just was delicious, super fresh. They obviously juiced it there as soon as I ordered it. The chilequeas were fine, a bit too saucy for the amount of chips you get. My eggs were perfectly poached though, but not in the sauce like a lot of places that serve this dish. My friend got the biscuits and gravy. The gravy was good, but needed pepper... actually everything needs salt or pepper. She did get a side of cheesy grits which were some of the best grits I've ever tasted in KC. read more

LOVE that this HomeGrown opened so much closer to me than the Leawood one (although that one will always have my heart). The location is wonderful and even has a lot of outdoor interest (fire pits, lawn games, etc). The servers were so friendly and knowledgeable! Service was quick and easy, even for a brand new location. Some people will find anything to complain about but honestly this place is my go-to brunch! Delicious seasonal options never disappoint! My husband and I are huge fans of Homegrown and have been to almost all the location in Wichita, KC and Missouri. This is one of their newer locations and it didn't not disappoint. My husband thought their biscuits were some of the best yet. My sandwich was perfectly grilled and extra cheesy. Their coffee cake is always exceptional. This one was just a tiny bit drier than some of the prior pieces we have had but that didn't stop us from eating it all. The restaurant was very clean and the staff friendly. My husband and I were finally able to try out this new chain brunch restaurant. We had been several times, but the wait was too long. Thankfully, today we were able to get in immediately. We were seated in a comfortable booth and greeted immediately and served Water from a carafe. I'm glad that they offer gluten-friendly pancakes, and gluten-free bread as an option. I tried out a breakfast and so did my husband, and we liked everything on both of our plate plates. The restaurant is new and decorated nicely and very clean. The waitress was friendly and nice and did a good job, the only thing is that she probably could've visited the table a little bit more to check back to see if we needed anything. Breakfast at the Merriam KS restaurant. Upon entry there is a bar area to the right with booths, while the host station is straight ahead and the main dining area is ahead and to the left. The wait wasn't long before we were seated in a booth and our waitress, Camber, soon arrived. We started with a Bloody Mary and the Jolly Green juice. Later, she ordered the Sunshine Margarita. The margarita was essentially delicious. Entrees were chilaquiles and the Gimme Meats omelette. Unexpectedly, the manager comped our entrees due to the time it took for serving. We hadn't noticed. Very impressed with that move! The food was tasty and nicely plated. Although the omelette could have been more flavorful. The portions were appropriate. This is a new go-to, as it's much closer to us than the others. The food is as one would expect from homegrown- delicious breakfast and great lunch options. Today, I had the "Gimme the Meats" omelette, and I wasn't let down. Paired with a Wolfermans English muffin and jam, it was a great meal. Wifey had the lemon pancakes, which I thought were dessert on a plate paired with sausage patties and eggs. My only complaint is their coffee. It's weak. The first pot we received was basically coffee-tea. The second, after we brought the weak coffee issue up to our server, was better. Our servers has always been awesome, and when we told her it wasn't good, she went to rectify the issue. I don't expect an espresso drink, but I don't want coffee-tea hybrid, either. I drink my coffee as god intended- no cream or sugar, and I can make a cup using Folgers better than this. This is the second time we've sent coffee back, in the past two visits. Apparently, the person making the coffee drinks soda or redbull in the morning, because I'm not sure that they know what they're doing. Four stars because I had already had good coffee at home, prior to coming. read more

I love Homegrown but I always preferred the one in Brookside. I have now been to this one in Merriam twice. The first time was not a good experience. My breakfast was cold, my nephews cold latte was thick with honey all over it, just not tasty. I went back a second time, always need to give a place a second chance. The food was great, service was great, so I will definitely go back as this one is a lot closer to my house than the one in Brookside. read more

We have eaten at HomeGrown several times in the past six weeks. We recently took my sister from San Francisco. She was so impressed and we all enjoyed delicious food. The staff is very friendly and accomodating. Everyone enjoyed their food so much. Last Tuesday our daughter visited from Dallas and we ate breakfast on our way to take her to the airport. She loved the look and feel of HomeGrown. She raved about the cinnamon French toast. Our son loved the Avacado Toast.
