This location is very busy and usually on a wait. We have always had a great experience here though, and enjoy everything on the menu. Kid friendly, don't go here if you are crabby or hungover! Pro tip, join the waitlist online via Yelp to shorten the waiting experience. Like others have mentioned, they are due for a remodel and deep cleaning. The staff is always in a great mood and very nice and talkative here, we really appreciate and respect that! Everything from their massive biscuits and gravy portion, french toast, pancakes are above average. I prefer their hash browns to their potatoes, but to each their own. My favorite is by far the Corned Beef Hash, yummy! I always order it extra crispy and it never fails! You have to splash some hot sauce on it too. read more

Yummy brunch and great vibes! I've been visiting the Big Biscuit for years and really enjoyed the food. It's an even better experience since they renovated a few years ago! We stopped in recently for brunch and ordered the turkey & spinach omelette, Kansas City omelette, and a biscuit. Both omelettes were great; they came with a large serving of vegetables and were moderately flavorful. The biscuits are large, fluffy, and buttery. Our service has consistently been really warm and helpful, and the waitlist option is fantastic for busy brunch times. Highly recommend a visit! read more

On busy mornings, like Sunday, I recommend getting in line before you arrive using the Yelp app. The wait normally isn't very long, but this is a great way to avoid the wait all together. The atmosphere is farm to table like ...country cooking at its finest in a city setting. The waitstaff reminds me of old friends you haven't seen in a while. The food is really really good. The biscuits are huuuuuge.! And the pancakes are sooo delicious. We go there quite often with friends and family it's great. Then I love the Savers thrift store that's right across the street as well as sprouts grocery store so what a convenient spot. Everything here is amazing and the prices are affordable. read more

As I've said in other reviews of Big Biscuit locations around the metro, The Big Biscuit is a great place for families. It's very kid friendly, and it's usually pretty easy to get in and out. This location is no different. I met an old highschool friend who was in town with her family here for a brunch during the week and it was overall a good experience. The downsides to this location over some others is that the inside feels a bit dated and more worn. The food was still pretty good, I got one of their healthier options and left full and happy. Overall I'd go back here if I had a playdate in the area for my kid, but if I'm looking for the best brunch in the city I'd likely go elsewhere. read more

I was near the area looking for breakfast pick-up and this was the perfect place. I signed up for an account, placed an online order and it was ready for pick up within minutes! The pancake platter was great for my girls to share-- 2 BIG pancakes, scrambled eggs, breakfast potatoes (too salty), 1 bacon & 1 sausage. My order was on a shelf by the entrance :). This place ROCKS breakfast! My brother was in town from Hawaii. I setup online for a table and it was great did not wait long. Many people were waiting which on a Sunday this is a must! I ordered 1/3 biscuits gravy potatoes, Bro had a huge waffle with strawberries whipped cream, my other brother had a omelet which filled a plate potatoes and a plate sized pancake! We tried a bonut, a buttermilk biscuit dipped in French toast batter then tossed in powdered sugar add strawberries just eloquent start to breakfast w a great cup of coffee! Just amazing! We decided to go here after we had a problem at another place. Big biscuit to the rescue. The food, portion sizes, and customized drinks are top notch. The servers are so relaxed. It makes eating here enjoyable and one where I will drive 15 miles to eat here. We have been to this locations many times. It never disappoints and always slaps. I've gone to various Big Biscuit locations in Kansas & Missouri over the years & my thoughts have varied. My overall experience has been 'they're just ok & will do in a pinch'. I must say my recent visit to the one on 95th in Overland Park has caused me to somewhat change my mind. I say somewhat because it's getting there. The folks were pleasant & engaged in compliments & chit chat before I was seated. My waiter, Osman was an attentive young man with excellent people skills & knew how to serve with gladness & grace. His presence was like a ray of sunshine & I could tell he has experience in the industry. He is also a trainer which didn't surprise me. He even humbly accepted a few pointers I shared for him to pass along to his trainee & this showed he has an ear to hear. At his age, priceless... My 3 egg scramble & pancakes were delicious as was the hot chocolate. Simple, yet good. This was a rather refreshing visit that did me good on that particular day. One never knows how a pleasant attitude or kind word can affect someone's day. This location Rocks! Hats off to Management & a great team. Hopefully it will spill over to the other Big Biscuit restaurants around the city. read more

Great service from a lovely redhead waitress and great food. Good combination. The service here was excellent on our first visit here. The place was packed but only had to wait 10 minutes for seat. Pancakes and eggs along with bacon was what I picked and all perfect. Coffee just the way I like it. My buddy got the kitchen sink and was not able to finish it. Tons of food. The BB is always my family's and I's first choice for breakfast / brunch. The food comes out hot and fresh and they have the best biggest homemade biscuits! You can never go wrong with the French toast platter served with two eggs your choice, meat your choice and breakfast potatoes. Ordered breakfast meal called "country Benedict" which is sausage gravy over English muffin with breakfast sausage, scrambled eggs and hash browns Order was so salty I could not finish the meal and ate only 1/2. I asked for the check and sever asked if i wanted a box. I said no meal was too salty to finish She asked if the gravy that was salty - I could not tell where the salt was from. She said she would tell the cook and that was it. No partial refund no visit from the manager So I don't know if the recipe was salty or a careless cook. Be careful at this place if you have issues with salt in your diet read more

Got takeout from here and it was pretty disappointing. My husband got the Buffalo chicken tenders, which were the smallest I've ever seen. I ordered the waffle combo. Unfortunately they forgot the powdered sugar and whipped cream. The portions were not very generous as compared to other places, but the flavor was ok. Don't get the grits. They no longer serve them with butter (said they make them with butter) and cooks don't even bother to stir them and add water occasionally. Mine had large dry clumps and were utterly tasteless. Which is why people like to put butter on their grits. Not a big deal to me, but over medium eggs were also scorched and basically over hard. By the time I was able to get someones attention, I finished my eggs and toast. Now I know why they don't seem as busy as they used to be. read more

Get in before 9am if you don't want a wait. They are using quick with service once you're seated. Great for kids, families, or three generation get together. Kids love chocolate chip pancakes. Ambiance is casual, step up from Dennys/IHOP but not quite First Watch/La Peeps. We try to avoid the back back room at the 95th room unless we have a large group (10+) as it gets very noisy back there and hard to hear conversations. read more

The server was attentive to our drinks- the brunch was bottomless- but hard to find to get the check. The biggest weak spot both years has been the dessert table. There were perhaps five small desserts on a small cocktail table. Really not what you'd expect. The bacon was pretty good, however, you often find a lot of undercooked bacon on buffets. One conspicuously good thing is that, unlike so many other places on Easter, the tables were spaced well apart. Many places will pack the diners in like sardines, and this was not the case here- we had ample room to move about. Altogether, Grand Street needs to step it up for Easter Brunch. It should have been cooked longer to rid that doughy texture. The buffet was nice though. The salads were good and the fruit was very fresh. One thing that happened, that the restaurant should take into consideration: hubs wanted the syrup. We had a small metal metal container that had cream in it for coffee and one that had warm syrup in it. I went to check which one was which and the syrup one was so hot and sticky, it got stuck on my finger. When I pulled my hand back, the whole container spilled all over me. Luckily, the syrup inside wasn't that hot, just the container it was in. There's no reason that container was that hot based on the lukewarm temperature of the syrup. Mark sprang into action, getting hot towels for me to clean myself up. Needless to say, I left very sticky. Overall, not a bad place. We will be back for brunch again, making sure to order different things. Mark was thw MVP though of that experience. I hope he's on task to become manager soon because he knew what he was doing.

At that point, we decided we no longer felt comfortable eating there and happy that we asked for a refund before our food was prepared. One employee handled the refund and seemed caught off guard. She responded, "I know, we've been busy" when I addressed the milk being left out without a lid on the counter. I replied, "Being busy should not compromise sanitation." I was completely prepared to take my refund and move on with my day. Then the other employee behind the counter said, "You can just take your refund and go somewhere else." That single comment changed the entire experience. What disappointed me wasn't just what we observed. It was how the sanitation concerns were dismissed and met with doubling down. A simple, "Thank you for bringing that to our attention. We'll take care of it," would have completely changed the outcome. Instead, we left feeling like we were the problem for speaking up. I was with a younger crowd and they all had been before and they all ordered salads as entrees - I'm not 25 anymore and not afraid to order a real meal (enter face palm here) so I ordered a standard entree and I expected at the price point (especially in the 'burbs) to be a more standard entree size. The cauliflower steak was honestly DIVINE - the flavors were perfect and loved every bite, but it was at the end of the day a $30 singular piece of cauliflower with some sauce and while it was great, I left hungry and even texted my husband that after spending around 80 dollars here I was going to probably pick up taco bell after this party was over. Now, again I'm going to reiterate that I was here with a group and the server did an excellent job of trying to meet everyone where they were at and I am probably 10 years older than most at the table so my expectations and life experience is just different. Verbena is an awesome spot and on my way home I was thinking about how I need to return for a happy hour to get more of those great drinks and try it out again. the tl;dr of this is if you go for dinner I'd order a salad and and entree - or ask them about how to best set up your meal. Love this place!! I've tried most of the menu! My favorite items are of course the cinnamon roll pancakes, the ham steak, and the biscuits and gravy! Really great place... It stays pretty busy on the weekends so it can be tough to get in at times... But generally the wait is not too bad... Really the only bad thing I could say about this place is the Eggs are never cooked fully... They are always undercooked.. I'm really not that picky, but if I order orange juice, I expect orange juice. I know things can get hectic, but please don't forget something then charge me for it. That takes up time for both of us. My chicken fried steak was good and had plenty of gravy, the cole slaw was missing something, although I couldn't quite put my finger on it. Still, a place I recommend.

I spent several years frequently eating breakfast at Dagwood's on Southwest traffic way when I was working over there in the late 90's and early 00's. I just moved into the area, and was delighted to find that a Dagwood's had opened up here a year ago. I was worried it would not live up to the memories of that little cafe, but it does, with more seating and a casual and friendly atmosphere. Walking back through all my old favorites, I have been pleasantly delighted so far! If I had a complaint... they don't have heavy cream for the coffee (but few places do). Thats a me problem everywhere I go. And I do have to say that the cinnamon roll is nothing to gush over. Maybe even a little dry. Otherwise, this is an immediate staple for myself and my family. It feels warm and comfortable and just a great place to meet for breakfast/brunch any day except Monday!

My plate looked like a kid's meal, and I left hungry. Not what I expect when paying adult prices. Overcooked food: My eggs were rubbery, the bacon was brittle, and the hash browns were burnt on the outside and raw inside. "Perfect" is a fantasy word here. Had to ask for bread yes, you read that right. They don't even bring toast with breakfast unless you beg for it. Basic diner fail. Attentive service? The staff was too busy chatting to notice empty coffee cups or check on food quality. And here's the saddest part: I'd rather go to IHOP and get the wrong order than come back here. At least IHOP fixes it without attitude, and you actually get enough food. I want to support local businesses. But not ones that serve overcooked, overpriced scraps and can't even remember to bring bread. This place didn't replace the old favorite it just lowered the bar. She was friendly and so helpful with the menu (it was my colleague's first visit), and gave us recommendations for food as well as drink pairings. She stopped by as we were enjoying our meals, to ensure that everything was going well, and when we asked if we could continue to occupy the table (to finish our meeting, which ended up lasting 90 minutes), she was more than happy to accommodate us. I had the Impossible Burger (my first time trying one) and it was DELICIOUS! I have friends who are vegetarians and often have difficulty with plant-based hamburgers because of the texture, but this was perfect and honestly tasted just like beef. The toppings were fabulous and I was able to upgrade to sweet potato fries (from regular fries) for no extra charge. What a deal! I paired my lunch with a can of non-alcoholic Sam Adams IPA (another first try), and it was super-tasty! My colleague ordered Big Gary's meatloaf and said it was wonderful. Pro tip for conducting a meeting at The Red Door: The high-top tables in the bar area near the front door are quieter than the main dining room, due to the location of the music system's speakers. We had the table in the corner, and there was minimal traffic and it was easy to speak to each other. No reservation made ahead of time, but we were told there was a 15 min wait for outside, so we agreed. Ambience is alright outside, but not particularly cute either. Service was fine. It's not like the guy ignored us or anything, but no water off the bat was a little weird. He did eventually bring it out with our drinks, which took a minute since the bar was busy. The menu seems like it has enough variety to appease any picky eaters. I got the meatloaf and appreciated the assortment of veggies and portion size. Otherwise, I don't know that I'd come back unless someone else invited me.
