This was our first visit to Homemade and is my new favorite breakfast spot in Fredericksburg. I had the veggie omelette, which was delicious. My wife had the avocado toast with fruit, eggs, and bacon. She loved how fresh everything tasted! The service was impeccable. The servers were friendly and inviting. Place is brand new and look really good. Me and my partner thought we would give it a try. Very busy on a Friday morning. Ambiance was very loud and seating is tall tabletops with metal chairs. Very basic. Prices were a bit high for our taste. So hopefully the food is good. Our server, Lisa, was attentive and answered all our questions. Wait was kind of long for one omelette & a muffin. 25 minutes in, Lisa let us know that they were out of the muffin I ordered. Finished my latte and still no muffin. Ordered a corn muffin since my other request was unavailable. All food arrived 30 minutes later, but tasted great! My friend said her plate was delicious. Downside is: too long of a wait, prices are high ( not competitive for this area), no butter or jelly on the table, and once food was delivered, it was hard to get someone's attention to ask for anything else. They also offer no pork alternatives, so those that don't eat pork won't be able to eat any meats here other than the beef hash. I've been to homemade twice now and the food and service are pretty good. I love the aesthetics and the bookshelf wall that separates the kitchen. My most recent visit was almost perfect. The only thing that was bad is I asked for orange juice with my meal and didn't get it and when the server came and asked if everything was good i reminded them about my orange juice and they forgot again. Then at the end of my meal after handing us the check she leaves and comes back and says "I'm so sorry I just remembered I forgot your orange juice, would you like one Togo" and I was shocked she finally remembered and said sure. She then proceeds to bring me the orange juice and a new check with the orange juice added on to the check. I would not have agreed to take a orange juice togo if I had know she was going to charge for it. She messed up and failed on two occasions to bring it to me during my meal and when she remembers I am already done and about to leave. If I was the manager or owner or even the server I would not have charged for that instead let it be a gesture to show I'm sorry I forgot. I was going to say something but I was not paying and my friend said don't worry about it but to charge for your mistake seems wild to me. This place is a little pricey and I feel you don't get a good amount of food to match. As with all new restaurants that come into the area there is a hype that quickly dies down after a while. They are in a good location as far as curb appeal, but the parking is terrible as they are right beside Basilico which is always busy. I have only had the lunch to-go from the menu, but I was not impressed with my $15 burger and fries. The burger was not seasoned and the fries were cold. No drink was included so I ended up going to McDonald's for a drink afterwards. The inside of the place is nice it presents as like rustic chic. We stopped in on a whim on a Saturday morning. They were packed but we were able to get 2 seats at the counter. Service was excellent and and the staff were all super friendly. I stopped in mid morning on Friday for breakfast. It is next to Basilico on Harrison Rd near where Harrison meets Rte 3. The decor is wood and painted pipes (modern industrial?). Expect to pay between $20 to $25 per person plus tax and tips. The food was good, the service was quick. A pro-customer service needs to improve.... The waiting to be seated is too long. This is caused because either the staff is disorganize, no use of common sense or no training by the owner/manager. I did experience that the staff do not clean-up and have the table ready as soon the customer goes away. It seems that nobody is assigned to this duty. The staff do not place at the bottom of the list those that doesn't shows up when they are called, instead they wait for them to show up and then rewards them with a seat. Waitress takes too long to come to the table to present themselves and to ask/take orders. It will be nice if they approach the table with a coffee pot in hand right away, specially when its breakfast time since most of the people drinks coffee. About food, taste is ok but certain classic items should be as much as identical possible. For example, the Cuban sandwich it should be in a beget bread (in Spanish is called, Pan Criollo). It should not be served in a slice bread or sour bread. I just hope that the company do not take this critique offensive and better yet take it positive to improve their business. read more
