We recently moved to Dana Point and Homeslice has quickly become one of our absolute favorite places. From the moment you walk in, the beachy, laid-back vibe makes you feel right at home. The food? Incredible. Whether it's their handcrafted cocktails, mouthwatering pizza, crave-worthy pasta, or their sandwiches (don't sleep on the sandwiches!)--everything is full of flavor and made with care. Our adult kids are now hooked too--they can't wait to pop by for a visit just so we can head to Home Slice for their favorite spaghetti and meatballs or a slice of pizza. It's become a family tradition already. We also love sitting at the bar and enjoying the amazing seasonal spritzes crafted by the bar staff--always light, refreshing, and creative. Seated quickly. Lovely location. There is outdoor fire pits which really keep you warm. Nice and casual. Really great flavors on both drinks and food. Pasta presentation did not look good at all. This could use some work in my opinion. Add some color, lemons, and consider a plate? Although it didn't look appetizing, it tasted pretty good. For a main course I would add a little more pasta. Came for some pizza and salad based off of the photos. Was very disappointed! We ordered four different pizzas and all of them lacked flavor. I added salt to every slice and olive oil. I even ordered a pizza that had garlic and I tasted no garlic. My friend ordered a pesto sandwich and there was no pesto on it. We had to consistently ask for our water to be refilled and they started closing early, which made us feel like we had to leave. Staff was friendly. Portions are small. read more

This is a great brewery / pizza style restaurant right downtown in Dana Point off PCH . We stopped in after visiting the marketplace they had going on last weekend. Our wonderful server was Owen . He was so helpful and so prompt and never made us wait even while he was busy helping his other tables , Owen was very personable and is an asset to this restaurant as I can see us coming back for dinner one evening . We only had an afternoon drink but we will be back . Thank you to Owen and the really nice lady that was welcoming us into the restaurant that Saturday she was very sweet as well. The beer wasn't bad either lol . This is a great location where you can come down and eat and people watch as the cars and people go by as you smell the wonderful ocean breeze. Came here on Memorial Day with my partner for lunch/ early dinner and the services was amazing. Food was better than expected and the owner was very attentive to the customers. Also offered us free appetizers of chicken wings, which were to die for. Business owner ourselves and always appreciate to receive top notch service all around. Quite a few new restaurants in the lantern district. Seems to be a competition amongst pizza restaurants. We opted to visit Homeslice since there wasn't any wait which we appreciated. Ironically, I recognized the gentleman who walked in and realized he is also the owner of The Schwack so that's pretty cool. Cool beachy vibes beautiful interior and bar area. We opted for a salad and a pizza as well as a couple soft drinks and a beer. Service was friendly and efficient. The size of the pizza is maybe considered a large personal pizza. a hungry individual could probably devour it but also easy to share for two. The salad was also ample to share. We enjoyed all of the flavor combinations. We would definitely return again and it looks like they dog friendly so we would definitely bring our dog back. Street parking all around. read more

Daring to open up another pizza place with Truly Pizza right around the corner. That said, I stopped by one day when Truly was too busy. I got two pizzas, one regular, one deep dish. Really just came here for their drinks and it did NOT disappoint. If you're more into sweet drinks, i recommend getting their martinis especially the ones pictured. It's pretty strong, too!!! We have had Trey several times and he's such a great server so attentive and give great recs. We came here to celebrate my birthday and had heard great things about Home Slice, so we were excited to finally try it. We chose to sit at the bar, which we usually love, but unfortunately, the experience left a lot to be desired. From the start, the bartender, Isaiah, seemed irritated and somewhat passive-aggressive. We had a few questions about the cocktail menu and were met with blank stares that made us feel uncomfortable and honestly a bit embarrassed for even asking. We ordered two cocktails and two starters. The Parmesan tacos were actually delicious, but the chicken wings were bland and came with a very small amount of dipping sauce. When we politely asked for more sauce, we were brought half of what we originally received, and then charged for it. That felt really petty. The main disappointment was the mushroom pizza. It was extremely dry, so much so that I genuinely wondered if they had forgotten to add sauce. When I brought it up, Isaiah seemed confused as to why that was an issue and explained that they only use a very small amount of sauce that bakes out during cooking, and that there's no cheese on it by design. That's fine if it's intentional, but the end result was just unpleasant and flavorless. By that point, it was clear we weren't enjoying ourselves, and it felt like we were more of a bother than welcomed guests. Sadly, it really put a damper on what was supposed to be a special birthday dinner. We won't be returning. read more

I am a big fan of Homeslice. It is a small footprint, cute little corner restaurant in the Dana Point area off PCH near a number of other tasty dining options. It's got the capacity to handle larger family groups, as well as date nights and solo diners. A large number of the tables are high tops so be prepared for that as an option. They also have a cute little fire pit area where you can get food and drink as well. My boyfriend and I like to sit at the bar and often wind up ordering food to also take home to starving teenagers. Half our family is gluten-free and the Homeslice gluten-free pizza crust tastes exactly like real pizza dough, makes everyone happy! Prices are appropriate for the area so you're paying in the mid to high teens for drinks and in the 20s for pizza and then the mid to high teens for most other share and side items. The restaurant has a casual and slightly busy, but not too busy feel to it, service is pleasant and the kitchen is quick. We will definitely continue coming to the spot for lunches and dinners in this area. read more

Thank you, Mark! With the help of your recommendations, I enjoyed dinner here in Dana Point on an impromptu visit a few weeks ago. Parking is always a concern in these beach cities, but we found street parking accessible. The main entrance hostess stand is clearly visible from the street and welcoming. The restaurant has a bright indoor dining space and even a patio that partially spills out to enjoy the perfect cool evening sunset. Despite the crowd, we conveniently found seating at the bar counter for our dinner. Sitting down, I am Immediately greeted by the Chef, Mark. Extremely knowledgeable and so personable. After exchanging a brief conversation and introducing the menu selections to me, I followed Mark's recommendations with my pasta dish. Immediately impressed seeing it served on a sizzling cast iron skillet. Perfectly portioned! So delicious! The pasta dish reminds me of ones I'd enjoyed in Rome, Italy ages ago. It's difficult to find pasta as decadent as the ones I've tried from traveling to Italy, hence why I am so impressed! We enjoyed everything we selected. Definitely a new family favorite for this area and I'm looking forward to trying more from their menu. Food is always great. Really great. Location fun. Dig the open air vibe. One key problem: operating hours. They're all over the place. Super weird. They claim to be open until 9 PM, but for the third time in a row now, we have arrived before 8 PM! and the staff is clearing tables, stacking chairs, and emphasizing as we walk in the door that "last call will be at 8 PM tonight, and need to have all orders in by 8:10 PM". Nothing like walking into place and feeling like you need to frantically order your food, eat quick, and get the hell out of there, etc. The last time it happened (10/28/25) staff told us it's the owner of the restaurant that drives the decision on "closing early". I get needing/wanting to control operating costs, especially when business slows to a trickle past a certain hour. But perhaps consider only doing this on certain slowest nights of the week (ie. Monday thru Weds) and making sure you post it somewhere that hours can be variable on those days based on foot traffic. Just an idea. For the record we've had this happen to us now on a Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday. Staff is always very polite and nice, so none of this should reflect on them. Five stars on food quality. Great staff. Just need to be a little more consistent on the operating hours. read more

I've been coming to Homeslice for a while now and, at first, it felt like a hidden gem. The vibe is cool and the place can be great--but unfortunately, the inconsistency has become hard to ignore. We've had some amazing visits in the past with great food and stellar service. But more recently, it's been hit or miss--especially depending on who's working that day. The food quality swings dramatically, and the lack of consistency in the kitchen really affects the overall experience. Even the front-of-house vibe has changed. You walk in and are greeted by what feels like an unfriendly mob, and the "manager" doesn't seem interested in acknowledging guests at all. It's not the kind of welcome that makes you want to stick around. That said, I do want to give credit where it's due--Trey has been our server a few times and always stands out. He brings great energy, checks in often, and genuinely seems to care whether or not we're having a good time. If the rest of the team brought the same level of care and consistency, this place would be solid. It's frustrating to feel like you don't know what kind of experience you're going to get. The crowd seemed like a good sign, our first time here. The service was very good. For apps, we ordered the cauliflower gnocchi and artichoke hearts. The gnocchi dough was not seasoned at all (cauliflower needs a lot of salt) and the exterior was dry and almost rubbery. The artichoke hearts were straight out of a brined jar you get at the grocery store and tossed in the wood oven for a minute so they can call them "brick oven" artichokes (for $14). Our entrees were the penne Toscana crema - also very bland, and their Mista salad with chicken. The chicken was overcooked and again, lacked any seasoning. We had previously ordered a Forager pizza to take home and found that to be pretty good, but still not stellar. Chef needs to find the salt and everyone on the line should review cooking times. Rude service and food was not good for how expensive. Brought my two small dogs, was told they were dog friendly. My dog barked for a quick second and an employee turned to us and scolded my dog for barking. The pizza also has no sauce and was the smallest pizza ever for being $22, still ended up being hungry but was not going to order another expensive pizza. The garlic fries were also $12 and was the smallest portion with nothing to dip in. The only sauce they have is blue cheese... when we asked for the check an employee through the check on the table. Packed with lots of arugula and mozzarella plus a giant slice of tomato. The bread app was really good, basically Parker house rolls covered with cheese/garlic/butter and comes with marinara sauce. My sister has the lemon pasta and loved it as well. I would just say that they missed giving us napkins and utensils in our order tho they knew we were eating next door and the order took a lot longer than it should have. What a bummer. Wanted to like it because the menu looks great. - fennel salad: the only thing that was actually decent. Interesting combo of flavors, but would not buy again for a whopping $18 for what I would consider a large side salad. - Parmesan tacos: why are these popular? What is enjoyable about biting into a tough, leathery strip of Parmesan cheese? The meatballs were fine. But would not order again. - Strip steak: this was just a shame. We ordered it medium rare and it was well done. Even the flavor of the meat and seasoning was unpleasant, and I doubt it was actually prime. I wouldn't even order it again if it was properly cooked. Thankfully, they took it off the bill. - broccolini: decent enough, only way to ruin broccolini is to overcook or char it too much, these were cooked properly. But the added Parmesan (again, leathery) was unnecessary. Absolutely no salt either. - penne toscana crema: we only ate this because we were starving and didn't want to sent it back in addition to the steak. But it was not good. Lacked flavor, pasta tasted like some cheap brand from the supermarket, and the entire dish was just plain boring. Based on other reviews and the fact that the pizzas are small for the price, we won't be coming back. While our waiter was lovely, that doesn't make up for the food being a total bust. read more

First timer, and everything was amazing. Our server Luke nailed the recommendations! We were torn between a million things on the menu (oh darn, we'll have to come back), but opted for the artichokes and gnocchimis to start. If you like artichokes, it's a MUST GET. So delicious. Gnocchimis were good as well and a great option for anyone vegetarian or gluten free. Next course we got the Maximus pizza which our server recommended and he was so right. Great pizza! The table behind us made a few comments saying it was burnt but we thoroughly enjoyed the authentic Neapolitan crust. If I had to make any constructive criticism, which I've had to scrap my brain for, it would be that the first few bites of the pizza were a bit soggy from the salami/cheese.
