I'm really concerned about this place. I was expecting a pizza but it seemed like an ordeal for the lady working the bar. The good - she was nice. The service was ok. I really felt like I could of just cooked a pizza at home. The bad - service. The bartender really couldn't tell me what was good nor did she have any recommendations - does she even eat there. She also didn't know how to make any drinks. The pizza came out warm and the crust wasn't palatable. I did ask if they could warm my pizza. The worst - there was a phone call that came in and the cook who I assume was in charge of taking orders on the phone said out loud "I'm not picking up that phone, they can place their order online." This was my first time sitting in the HomeSlyce restaurant. The atmosphere felt very casual and open. The place wasn't too busy and the food came out very fast. I ordered the 8" personal Pizza, a perfect size for one. It had a crunchy crust, yet soft inside. My choices of mushrooms and Sun dried tomatoes fit the bill, not too many to take away from the flavor of the crust but enough to sample in each bite. I was very sated. read more

As you can tell from my photos, I'm OBSESSED with their 1741 pizza. I've ordered pizza from here about four times and it is probably the most consistent thing In my life right now. There is one time where I took a gamble and ordered their buffalo chicken pizza and absolutely regretted not ordering the 1741. This one is a twist on the Hawaiian pizza (sorry folks - if you don't like pineapples on pizza - but it's a match made in heaven for me). The Crust is very thin, crunchy on the outside but so chewy on the inside (the perfect combo). The pineapples bring a sweetness to the pizza and the sausage brings the saltiness while the tomato slices bring a fresh and "healthy" feel to the pizza. The 1741 pizza is on my list for top five best dishes in Baltimore! I also converted my boyfriend into a 1741 pizza lover - this is legit. The only pizza we will order here (plus some sides of we're feeling famished) - it's just that good! I've ordered delivery, takeout, and dined in and no matter the method of service, it has always been attentive and quick. No one likes to wait for their piping hot pizza right?? The ambiance of the place is very cool - there are arcade games and pool tables at the end of the pizza joint, a big bar with big tv screens in the middle, and a large dining area towards the entrance. I love homeslyce pizza, but the quality of their lunch take out is abysmal. This is the second time I've ordered and the second time they've totally messed up our order. We ordered three chicken sandwiches and for some reason got one buffalo, one three little pigs, and this disgrace of a sandwich I'm guessing is their veggie option? Not to mention their sweet potato fries are just warm, heavy, inedible slabs of sweat potatoes... On top of that, they barely fill the sandwiches when they actually get them right. Good for what it is, a generic fast casual pizza place. I've had their pizza several times for meetings and have always been satisfied. It's nothing artisanal or fancy but avoids many of the pitfalls of pizza chains such as being overly salty, drenched in grease, cardboard-tasting crust, or any combination of those. I always stick with just plain cheese but their other toppings look decent and every time this pizza shows up for a meeting attendance is good and the pizza usually goes quickly. I've also tried their gluten-free pizza too and it's pretty good. The crust is slightly sweet but it isn't bothersome and the texture is still good. Boyfriend and I came here looking for a place open for lunch on a Sunday. We're seriously surprised at the number of f places closed. This place was largely empty at noon on a Sunday. We liked the ambiance of the place and it looked like it had a nice bar. We didn't try any drinks /beers though. Bf and I shared a homeslyce classic pizza 10 in. It was pretty good. I loved all the flavors, loved the slightly tart/sweet sauce (had balsalmic maybe?) and the mushrooms and everything. I dunno if it was just the day, and maybe I was just craving tomato sauce that day, but I thought it could use a little more acidity/some tomatoes/tomato sauce to give it just a little bit more. Other than that, the crust was pretty good, fluffy and we both finished off the 10 in and felt comfortably full afterwards. My only complaint would be our waitress Asia, who I thought was pretty stand-offish considering we were 1 of 3 groups there. When we asked her questions, she gave very vague and unhelpful answers as if she didn't want to answer anything. We paid for our pizza in cash, and she also did not give us our change (like coins). She just gave us dollar bills. I find that unacceptable. You can't just keep our coins assuming we'd give them to you as tip....That pissed me off. Our typical Friday consists of eating out at some of our favorite places and new restaurants. We decided on pizza and fell back on one of our comfort pizza places in the city. HomeSlyce has a mixture for anyone from carnivore to vegan. The options are a plenty here. It can be a bit on the expensive side if ordering vegan options but for most they are typical prices from what we've seen across the city. My fiancé eats vegan pizza, so she does a build your own vegan dish. She ordered a vegan cheese and veggies pizza which was delicious. I had the HomeSlyce Spice pizza which was perfect; the first time I ever had soujuk. And it was pretty damn good!! I am always trying different pizzas from here and they don't disappoint. A couple months ago, I moved to Baltimore, and after a long day I needed a place to eat so I headed to Homeslyce. They were very packed, and I was a little disappointed on their level of service. My friend had said that he loved Homeslyce, so I thought I would give it another chance. For his birthday on Thursday I had decided to take him for dinner. Although Thursday was also packed, the manager was very kind. He noticed my friend, and I had been waiting for our orders to be taken. He helped out and apologized for the wait. This is the worst pizza parlor I been to thus far. What type of small mini pie is that where the box is like 10x times bigger damn 5 pieces of meat, this was for my girls brother, and quiet embarrassing tbh if I didn't open the box to check what we were going to give him, and we hounded for a 20% tip also, like how? I've concluded that I just don't think this was my style of pizza. It's been a while since I've actually eaten anything from here (as I was with someone picking up something the last time I dropped in). I will be willing to try Again (maybe it more of the mushrooms than the entire pizza) The chicken wings were not great either was was I had a sangria which was just okay. Really a 3.5. This place decent, but compared to Iggie's, Dipasquale's, Joe Square, Hersch's, etc, it doesn't stack up and here's why.... I came here with fairly high expectations based on the current reviews and the hype of this new trending pizza place. Keep in mind I'm compairing this place to some of the well established and well loved pizza joints in Baltimore. Here's what it lacked, essentially, each of the three pizzas I tried fell flat The toppings were plentiful, but somehow the flavors of each ingredient were not very prominent and didn't blend together well either. Essentially, the pizza was more bland than I expected. The crusts was fluffy and light, which I did enjoy (not as flat as Iggie's). PIZZAs we tried: (If you get a 16" pizza, you can do half and half as long as both pizza types use the same sauce) - Home slyce classic: waaaaay too overdone on the ingredients. Far too many walnuts. Needed more parmesan, and parmesan needed to have stronger flavors. I would not recommend this - Margarita: far from the best. large chunks of tomato, basil, and mozz cheese but still kinda bland? Maybe lack of good tomato sauce or quality of ingredients not sure. - Strongman meat: probably my favorite of the three, because i love meat. I'll hand it to Homeslyce, they don't skimp on any toppings. You get loaded with meat. My only problem was that there was nothing special about it. Kinda tasted like dominoe's meat lovers with better crust. Wings! - our large 16" pizza came with free order of 10 wings. GREAT DEAL while it lasts. We tried the Islot wings, which are essentially jerk chicken wings. These were pretty good. The wings were crispy, could have been a little more moist, but not bad. The dry jerk rub fell a little flat as with the pizzas :( The flavors could have been stronger. OVERALL: don't get me wrong, I'd go and eat at Homeslyce again and am happy it opened up around the corner. I just wouldn't drive out from the other side of town to eat here or take my friends from out of town. You get your money's worth in terms of quantity and the pizza is not bad but there are better high end pizzas in Bmore. read more

My husband I had our own personal size build your own pizza. I got a vegan spinach, artichoke and mushroom and he fot pepperoni. Both were very good and filling. We also shared a nutella cheesecake which was also good. We sat at the bar so my husband could watch some football games. My husband, 2 kids and I decided to go here as it was located up the street from our hotel and we decided against going to a chain restaurant on the harbor since our kids were spent from the exciting day we had. Boy, am I glad we did come here. We seated ourselves and we waited a little longer than I usually like to wait to be greeted by a waiter especially since it wasn't busy, but once we were greeted the waiter immediately made up for it. He had a great sense of humor and was very nice. I don't know what it is about Baltimore but everyone we encountered in this city was amazingly nice! We ordered their pizza and beer special for $34.00. It included the largest pizza they make (8 slices) and a pitcher of their homebrew. At this time it was their wheat beer, so we ordered that right up! As for the pizza, we decided on the Margarita since we couldn't get anything too cool since our kids were with and are picky (boooo). The pizza was delicious! Some of the best pizza I ever had. The sauce was sweet and the basil was cut in strips. I liked that because it evenly distributed the basil around the pizza. My husband is a huge pizza guy and he was raving about the food and so happy we decided to go here. The atmosphere was chill. My husband seems to think if a place has chalkboard walls and Edison light bulbs it's going to be good and this place had both of these features. haha! The waiter told us they have a few other locations in Baltimore and I can see why. It was also a huge bonus that the Talking Heads happened to be playing when we arrived. Even though many pizza places offer gluten free options, most sadly miss the mark in terms of flavor, texture or both. Homeslyce offers a solid gluten free crust that is really good, some of the best I've had. We came across this place while walking around near our hotel and I liked it so much, we came back a few days later. I got the steak pizza and it's so good. If you've never had corn on your pizza, you're missing out. Don't knock it til you try it! The hubby got a calzone first visit and the Homeslyce next visit and enjoyed both. We also tried their Italian soda and iced tea (both sweetened with coconut syrup). They were good but very sweet. The portions were ample for the price and I liked the seasonings offered on the tables (chili powder, oregano, and another spice that I believe was a truffle mushroom flavor...really good). Service was generally good, albeit a few hiccups on one visit. I am looking forward to having Homeslyce again next time we visit Baltimore. read more

Not at all impressed. I'm not sure what all the hyped reviews around the internet are about but I can sincerely say this is not even close to the expectations I had based on the reviews (and the cost). I'm NOT by any means a picky pizza person. I do absolutely LOVE pizza and if anything, I'd like to think I'm more lenient towards the various forms and fashions of pizzas. For example, I eat and enjoy a good commercial chain pizza (papa johns, dominos, Pizza Hut) and I've been to, perhaps, the greatest pizza joint in the US-Lombardi's in NY. And even if it's not the greatest it is, according to claims, the first. So my tastes are broad. That all being said, I was let down by this pizza. I got the meat lovers and I could tell as soon as I (eagerly) opened the box lid I was going to be disappointed. Sure enough, the first bite was less than satisfactory. The meats are mediocre food truck meats and the cheese is nothing to write home about- just regular, everyday mozzarella. I would love to comment on the sauce since, well to me, sauce is what makes the pizza. But there's was hardly any sauce at ALL! I doubt the sauce is homemade either. The crust now is pretty good. Nice crispy on the outside crust and soft and chewy in the middle. And that's even with it being delivered! I want all to understand I don't like giving negative reviews. I try to find the good in all. However, I think that because of all the high reviews that are on the internet, there's automatically a high standard and because this didn't meet that standard, it really lends its to higher scrutiny. I hate to say it but I've had better dominos pizza. The delivery was pretty quick for a Saturday night and the driver was friendly. Would I buy again? Hard to say. I wouldn't buy again right away with so many other local options BUT if someone bought this pizza and I was invited over to eat with them I would absolutely eat it again. If they would even just add more sauce I'd have no problem giving it another star or maybe 2 if the sauce had good flavor. I hope this helps. I am absolutely a foodie but like I said, I try to find the best in any food situation. I can eat at McDonald's and find "good" tasting food. HomeSlyce was recommended to us by a few people, so we decided to give it a shot. We decided to do the "Slyce" pizzas because that's their signature item. When choosing the style of my slyce I felt like there were an overwhelming amount of flavors and items in each one. I ended up going with the chicken pesto because everything in there seemed to work together. My husband went with strongman meat. In theory, I should like HomeSlyce. I LOVE toppings and crust. But, when I got it, I didn't really feel like I was eating pizza. Something was missing here. I would have just rather had pizza or a calzone. But, that aside, I just didn't think you really got your moneys worth because they are a bit pricey. Ingredients were OK, I especially like the flavor of the olives in mine and all of the meat in my husband's was great. I think I would try again, but just get normal pizza. Here is why only two stars------------- delivery took and hour and a half on a Wednesday night and when the guy got here, he called us to come outside to get it because it was raining! Isn't that the beauty of delivery? You shouldn't have to put your shoes on and certainly shouldn't have to go out in the rain! I thought that was bizarre. read more

I came for trivia night on Thursday with some friends. They have a great set up with Charm City Trivia and it was pretty packed. If you want to come for trivia night I would recommend coming 10-15 minutes early to grab a table or spots at the bar. We ordered a few beers on draft and appetizers. They bake everything here, no fried options. We got 1lb of chicken wings (half old bay and half buffalo) which were very good. Juicy with a good amount of sauce and spice. We also got the pickle fries which were pretty disappointing, the crust was too thick and mealy and without the crunch I associate with fries. One of my friends got the Italian calzone which was good, lots of pepperoni and cheese. It's very heavy and definitely large enough to share for average appetites. So I'd never heard of HomeSlyce until I was invited to trivia night with my girlfriend and her peeps, I've since had the food from two locations and have had this particular HomeSlyce's grub at least on 12 separate occasions. All of my girlfriend's friends non stop complain about the mediocrity of this establishment and how much they love the trivia night host. I'm right with them, Thursday nights at around 8 this place is a cool spot for trivia, but be forewarned: the pizza here is some of the worst I have ever had. And I mean that. Of the pizzas I've tried, and since I'm here anyway I keep trying out things on the menu, the pepperoni is oddly terrible as it swims in grease. The bottom of the pie is orange and soggy within a minute of the pizza arriving to the table. Some of their other pizzas are okay or have strange flavor profiles, but they are generally edible. Thursday's are 5 dollar sandwich meal days, the chicken sandwich and the grilled cheese are actually pretty tasty. Sliced steak sandwich, 3 little pigs, meatball sandwich are fairly meh - but the good news is that the sandwiches all come with a orange "yum yum" sauce that you can drench anything in and make it more appetizing. I use that stuff on everything at HomeSlyce. Service is generally awful with one maybe two exceptions as far as wait staff is concerned. Keeping beverages with any liquid at all in them has been an interesting challenge to see the waitstaff fail to overcome weekly. Drinks are reasonably priced and their signature cocktails are not worth it. Will I be back here next Thursday to try something new? Probably. Would I recommend the place? No, definitely not. I'm here for my girlfriend, and she's here for the trivia. read more

But settled on the port-the-Bella slyce (without the mushrooms), because of the pictures i saw of the crust on the slyce - it looked so good! The app told me it wouldn't be ready for 45 minutes, but i think they overestimated. When i arrived to pick it up, there weren't many people inside. Really cool ambience with tables or the bar to sit at. I was really pleased with my meal. It was like cheesy bread times a million - so garlicky and delicious, and the thick crust was a nice contrast to that. This was more than enough for one person, i had enough leftovers for the next day, but you can definitely split one of these between two people. read more
