Got Homestate tacos for a work event and came back for more with a friend! I ordered online. The process was quick, easy, and the system texted me to tell me my tacos are ready to be picked up at the "pick up" line. I went in, went to the pick up line, told the team member my name, and was done! We got 2 Trinity Tacos, 2 Brazos Tacos, and 2 Brisket Tacos. It came with 2 green and 2 red salsas to put on. I wish the salsas were spicier! I couldn't get too much of a spice kick. All the tacos were delicious and wonderfully made with care. I was in full celebratory mode. It was my Summer Friday and I'd just donated my 80th pint of blood to the Red Cross. I was super stoked to find out that HomeState had opened a brand new Pasadena location, and see that they open at 8A. Does it get much better? Yes, yes it does. Not only do they open at 8A, they start serving frozen margs at 8A. It was a few minutes before 10A when I arrived and spotted the frozen margie machine beside the cash register. In normal Cands fashion I immediately asked what time they start serving these ;) that's when I received the good news. Not only is my celebratory brekke going to consist of the perfect summer patio with the best country tunes and some queso cheese dip, it's also going to be accompanied by an adult bevvie. The space is gorgeous! They didn't spare any details in making the place super communal, welcoming, and friendly. The staff were all superb! The little details in the decor stand out in a huge way. I ordered a small frozen marg, with a spicy rim, topped with a little bit of spicy paloma. I also ordered the small queso dip and three tacos. The Trinity, Pecos, and Blanco. All three were super delish! I brought some queso dip, chips, and my brisket taco to go- and later shared them with a friend. I enjoyed the two lighter tacos there. The patio was already the place to be by 10A on a Friday morning, there were a few spots up for grabs but a good amount of people, relaxing, enjoying and working from here. The vibe is just right! I can see where this place is going to be super busy if it isn't already. They are now open their regular hours. The patio is pet friendly, the frozen margs do the trick, the homemade flour tortillas are soooo good, the tacos are delish, the queso hits just right, service is top notch, space is calm, yet energetic in it's own way and everything is all around 5 STAR. If you haven't been yet, what are you waiting for?! I'd highly recommend a visit and can't wait to return. The parking lot is a bit small, I grabbed a spot but I can see where this may fill up quickly- unless they have an additional lot to the right that I may have missed. Wow. So this is a super simple taco place that has breakfast tacos through to lunch tacos. It's a go to anytime I have friends over because there is always something for everyone. So, breakfast tacos are with eggs, bacon, and you can choose corn or flour tortillas. They also have different types of meat. (Brisket is the best- just saying) The crispy potatoes with the cheese sauce are delicious. It's fast, but always super fresh. read more

This restaurant recently opened. There is parking on the side and rear end of the restaurant, and street parking. We parked in a neighborhood nearby, and walked a short distance to the restaurant. The wait wasn't too bad. They offer umbrellas for you to hold if you want some shade. There's a menu posted on the wall, and a worker was handing out menus to those in line. We decided to dine in. Outdoor seating is also offered in the patio. The restaurant was nicely decorated inside, with lots of plants and decorations. There was a space to grab your own water. The tables are picnic tables. There's a to go pick up area. If you decide to dine in the restaurant, a worker will bring out your food to you. One important note: order the queso to dip your breakfast tacos in! We were able to order it with the worker who handed us our food. I thought that was cool we could pay at our table, since we forgot to order it at the cash register. I wasn't a fan of the brisket tacos. I found the brisket to be lacking in flavor. The Pecos taco does get soggy because of the brisket. I enjoyed the trinity taco. The bacon and potatoes were crispy. Dipping this in the queso tied it all together. The Blanco taco was tasty and felt clean. I preferred the green sauce over the red sauce. More flavor in green sauce. I'm glad I tried this place, but I wasn't super impressed by the brisket. Their breakfast tacos are the way to go. If I want some tasty Tex-Mex tacos, I will hit up this place. read more

Awesome food. Awesome location (soooo much parking!!! FREE parking!!!!!). Awesome awesome staff! The potato taco and frozen marg is all I need to be a happy camper here. I literally would not change a single thing on the potato taco aka it is perfection. Their tortillas are chefs kiss. The frozen marg is also one of the best I've had, unlike some places that put barely any alcohol and just tastes like an overly sweet frozen slushie. The queso chips are also a strong side. The staff was super attentive making frequent rounds and asking if we wanted refills on any drink orders and even water. They cleared our tables for us and were always checking in to make sure we had everything and were comfortable. Exsqueeze me am I at a 5 star restaurant? Yesterday miry was my first time at Homestate with my family. The first impression that I got was a good one. The staff is genuinely helpful and the set up is really cool. My family and and I got a bunch of food. Overall, it's definitely Tex Mex. I don't think you should go in thinking you're having Mexican. The food is cool, my favorite taco was the one with soyrizo. The potatoes are really good as well. Those two items are recommended! I ordered a Cookie Milk iced coffee and it tasted like a regular iced coffee. Ordered some tacos to go on Sunday . We literally got here before the morning rush. We ordered the Trinity, Pecos, the cheese quesadilla, chicken quesadillas. Last minute we also added a dozen homemade tortillas to go. Days later so happy we decided to do that. Back to the quality of the food. Came here for breakfast on a weekday and it wasn't crowded. There are plenty of indoor and outdoor seating and I particularly enjoyed the music - definitely very Texas. I ordered the Guadalupe, Trinity, and lil queso. The Guadalupe has eggs, chorizo, and cheddar cheese. The Trinity has eggs, bacon, potato, and cheddar cheese. Both were tasty and worth it at $3.75 each. They give you a red and green sauce to drizzle on the tacos and they are very flavorful with distinct taste differences. Both are mild and very well made, but I like the green sauce better. The lil queso was tasty and smooth, but as someone who isn't a diehard queso fan, I would say it isn't worth the $4. Also, I had a couple of tortilla chips that was loaded with salt and made the experience kinda bad. I would prefer a saltless tortilla chip option. If you're not in love with queso, you can probably skip this and not regret it. A big bonus is the vegetarian options. There's a lot to choose from, so I'll definitely be bringing my vegetarian relatives when they visit next time. About that parking. I'm glad it's free, but if you're not paying attention, you could miss the turn to get into it. Also, parking space is limited and compact and shared with 2-3 other stores. Bathrooms are outdoors and looks well-maintained. The staff here are really friendly and worth the 15% tip. read more

This place was so great, with a cute aesthetic and good food! I ordered 3 tacos - Trinity, brisket, and picadillo with 2 flour and 1 corn tortillas. The corn tortillas were definitely my favorite of the two types. I loved the Trinity taco and it was easily the best of the 3 I ordered. They do their breakfast tacos and potato so well as a true Tex-max place! I would recommend one of those for your first time here. I also ordered the guac and chips. They give a generous serving of chips and the guac was good. My friend ordered the queso, which was so tasty and preferred it over my guac. Also, parking is available but limited. So much more convenient than HP location! It's no secret I love HomeState. I'm obsessed with the ranch waters & the potatoes and queso + the Tijuana panthers! I always want to try something new but I never do lol. On days I don't free like a drink (rare), the iced tea is really good and I recently found out... free refills if you eat there! I tend to visit midday when it's less crowded. Times I've come earlier - around 12 - the line to order gets long and the parking situation is nonexistent if you can't find something in the lot. One thing that is really annoying is people tend to not know what they want to order 90% of the time when they get to the register. It ends up making the line 10x longer. Maybe HomeState needs to put the menus by the door instead of the counter next to the register? Not really sure what the solution is but it very agitating to have to wait forever to order because people haven't looked at the menu yet. The prices on the app are more expensive so that option is out. read more

Met a friend here for brunch, it was a solid decision. You order at the register and then have a seat. I had the Tijuana Panther (crispy potatoes with brisket and queso) on a corn tortilla and it was just so tasty. Also tried the Trinity which was eggs, bacon, potatoes and cheddar. I opted for a flour tortilla this time. The amount of egg they put in there was great and again, another tasty taco. Red and green salsa can with the order and both tasted delicious. Ordered a small queso and wasn't impressed, probably would not order again. The interior was cute and charming and they had an outdoor area too. We went to the Pasadena location soon after it opened, and while the food was fine, I just didn't like it that much. Last week friends suggested we meet up there and I'm so glad they did because it was so tasty. We've already been back once since then. I love the Fort Worth taco! It's a cute place very near us and the staff is great - friendly and efficient and good people. They work very hard. I guess the moral of the story is to give things more than once chance. I absolutely love Home State! It would describe it as a Tex-Mex/Cali fusion - and I love everything about Texas so this hits the spot for me. They make fresh flour tortillas daily and they are AMAZING!! We came here early on a Saturday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to get a table inside, but they also offer a large and beautiful patio for seating as well. I got the Trinity taco and my husband ordered the Pecos taco. WOW WOW WOW!! I love this place. This is hands down the best breakfast taco place in LA. I have had amazing breakfast tacos in Austin Texas and this beats that. The brisket breakfast tacos are awesome with the green salsa. Trinity tacos are amazing and the don't mess with Texas are a staple. Stumbled across this HomeState location when I was getting coffee and I'm very glad I did! My first time here and my experience was amazing! Great ambiance and cute decors all over the restaurant. I ordered the trinity taco and brisket taco with a side of chips and guac. I was going to get chips & salsa but the staff reminded me that it's the same price to get the guac option and salsa is already provided on the side - great tip and thank you for that!! The food was very price-friendly and delicious. I do think the brisket taco can be more juicy (it was a little dry) but everything else was amazing! DoorDashed from here twice now and boy is it a satisfying delivery experience! Everything comes labelled so you can divide flour from corn and the packaging is very minimal. As for the flavors: picadillo, brisket and chicken are all spot on. The pickled onions and jalapenos add a great zest to the flavors and the fillings are nice and ample for a soft taco. Came here with some friends today and have heard lots of great things about this place. But it was just MEH. I ordered 2 tacos and have to say the flour tortilla was much better than the corn tortilla option here. My main reason for not giving 5 stars were that the tacos were super dry! Not even adding salsa could salvage how dry they were. And my iced tea was extremely overpriced for the little mason jar glass they gave me that was 99% ice. Homestate is SO GOOD! I adore breakfast tacos and, as you likely already know, Homestate does it right especially with their superrrrr good tortillas. I do think the tacos are more expensive than I would think, but I also know that everything is really expensive in general and the quality is there, so I would still come back and feel it's worth it. I will regularly wish they existed in the Bay, especially the Trinity which is a truly perfect breakfast taco. I will say I've never had a not great taco from here, but the Trinity (egg, bacon, cheese), the Blanco (egg, mushroom and cheese), and Pecos (egg and brisket) are my current top tier. Guadalupe (egg + chorizo) is also great, but not my must-get. I am a bean lover and will be trying the bean ones next time! Great to share with folks so you can try more kinds. The salsas (red and green) are also both nice! No notes, I am content and loved them both. The place itself is very cute and has a small parking lot. It's bright inside and has a very cute patio that is welcoming! I imagine it gets busy during popular hours and for good reason. What a cute little spot! I visited a friend in Altadena and she wanted to grab some breakfast tacos, so we walked to HomeState. It was ~2pm on a holiday weekend Sunday, so there was a line, but it moved quickly. A lot of diners brought their dogs, which... if I'm being completely honest, I'm not a fan of. I would prefer more distance between my food and your "fur baby." I ordered a Blanco breakfast taco and Brisket band taco, both on corn tortillas. The Brisket taco was delicious and I would definitely get it again, but the breakfast taco was underwhelming + it arrived con queso and I ordered it without. The home-made tortillas were 10/10 though, very tasty. The outside seating area is small, but cozy. Ambience is really cute. Got to try the pecos, guadalupe, and potato tacos. Favorite was the pecos, the brisket was moist and tender. The potato taco was too sour in my opinion, there was both sour cream and pickled jalapenos. The salsas are definitely needed to add more flavor. Not sure if it was the tacos I got, but the textures were all the same throughout the taco which made it difficult to eat more than 2 tacos. The cookie milk cold brew was pretty good, not too sweet. I've heard good things about HomeState and finally got a chance to go. We went to the Pasadena location on a Saturday @ 6:30pm and no line, plenty of patio seating on a not too hot summer day. We ordered a small queso with chips, a potato taco, picadillo taco and my favorite was the brisket taco with flour tortillas. Next time we come I am going to get a margarita or spicy paloma (my son says these are the best) and try the loaded queso and maybe an Emo's taco (my other son says those are tasty too!) Came here on midday Sunday, literally a hole in the wall, unseen and located in a very small exclusive neighborhood. Passing the high school the drive way is so small if you blink you'll miss it! Popped into the Pasadena location for tacos and Paloma's. The monthly specialty taco has bacon -- order it! Breakfast tacos are bomb and a line shouldn't surprise you. They're quick and filling.
