They make fresh flour tortillas daily and they are AMAZING!! We came here early on a Saturday morning and it wasn't crowded at all. We were able to get a table inside, but they also offer a large and beautiful patio for seating as well. I got the Trinity taco and my husband ordered the Pecos taco. WOW WOW WOW!! Stumbled across this HomeState location when I was getting coffee and I'm very glad I did! My first time here and my experience was amazing! Great ambiance and cute decors all over the restaurant. I ordered the trinity taco and brisket taco with a side of chips and guac. I was going to get chips & salsa but the staff reminded me that it's the same price to get the guac option and salsa is already provided on the side - great tip and thank you for that!! The food was very price-friendly and delicious. I do think the brisket taco can be more juicy (it was a little dry) but everything else was amazing! The brisket breakfast tacos are awesome with the green salsa. Trinity tacos are amazing and the don't mess with Texas are a staple. Similar to the old Lincoln that was here for a short bit. I had the brisket taco, which has a little cabbage on it. The flour tortilla was great. I also got a chocolate chip cookie and it was great. DoorDashed from here twice now and boy is it a satisfying delivery experience! Everything comes labelled so you can divide flour from corn and the packaging is very minimal. As for the flavors: picadillo, brisket and chicken are all spot on. The pickled onions and jalapenos add a great zest to the flavors and the fillings are nice and ample for a soft taco. Homestate is SO GOOD! I adore breakfast tacos and, as you likely already know, Homestate does it right especially with their superrrrr good tortillas. I do think the tacos are more expensive than I would think, but I also know that everything is really expensive in general and the quality is there, so I would still come back and feel it's worth it. I will regularly wish they existed in the Bay, especially the Trinity which is a truly perfect breakfast taco. I will say I've never had a not great taco from here, but the Trinity (egg, bacon, cheese), the Blanco (egg, mushroom and cheese), and Pecos (egg and brisket) are my current top tier. Guadalupe (egg + chorizo) is also great, but not my must-get. I am a bean lover and will be trying the bean ones next time! Great to share with folks so you can try more kinds. The salsas (red and green) are also both nice! No notes, I am content and loved them both. The place itself is very cute and has a small parking lot. It was ~2pm on a holiday weekend Sunday, so there was a line, but it moved quickly. A lot of diners brought their dogs, which... if I'm being completely honest, I'm not a fan of. I would prefer more distance between my food and your "fur baby." I ordered a Blanco breakfast taco and Brisket band taco, both on corn tortillas. The Brisket taco was delicious and I would definitely get it again, but the breakfast taco was underwhelming + it arrived con queso and I ordered it without. The home-made tortillas were 10/10 though, very tasty. The outside seating area is small, but cozy. Look. I love the food. I love the drinks. The employees are so nice. I love HomeState!! I rarely go to this one anymore though because it has become a defacto playground for local kids. I actually really like kids but the parents who bring them to this location tend to treat it like the extension of their preschool and let them run WILD. That last time I was on the patio, one kid was climbing one of the trees and another was crawling through the bushes. Ambience is really cute. Got to try the pecos, guadalupe, and potato tacos. Favorite was the pecos, the brisket was moist and tender. The potato taco was too sour in my opinion, there was both sour cream and pickled jalapenos. The salsas are definitely needed to add more flavor. Not sure if it was the tacos I got, but the textures were all the same throughout the taco which made it difficult to eat more than 2 tacos. The cookie milk cold brew was pretty good, not too sweet. I was pretty full off one taco - I could have eaten 2 but definitely would have felt stuff with the additional sides. Overall, Pricey but makes sense - I do love their flour tortilla - the taco is packed with flavor. Got their ranch salad, good but would not get again (huge portion) - Their Frito pie - good but the ratio was not there for me. LOVE the open kitchen concept and the overall decor of the place. It is very convenient that they have a private lot. Never heard of this place till my cousin mentioned it and well when you are in the area you have to verify the hype. I've heard good things about HomeState and finally got a chance to go. We went to the Pasadena location on a Saturday @ 6:30pm and no line, plenty of patio seating on a not too hot summer day. We ordered a small queso with chips, a potato taco, picadillo taco and my favorite was the brisket taco with flour tortillas. Next time we come I am going to get a margarita or spicy paloma (my son says these are the best) and try the loaded queso and maybe an Emo's taco (my other son says those are tasty too!) I can see why some people like it, but if you're looking for authentic MX tacos...this place ain't it. It taste very much every bit American style. Again, that might be your jam, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Personally, I was expecting something closer to MX tacos, but I just don't see it here. The tacos were a bit bland, and the eggs are some kind of scrambled mix of eggs and herbs/spices, not just eggs. Even the chorizo, known to be full of flavor, was somehow kind of bland too. I came here because I was really intrigued by their breakfast tacos and this place was really good. We ordered the 1 guadalupe, 2 trinity, 1 brisket and a small queso with chips on the side. The service here is just like Corners Bakery or Panera Bread where you order 1st and you bring the table number with you. The food was tasty and I liked how they brought a whole bottle of salsa verde and roja so you don't have to ask for more. Each taco is also labeled so you know which taco is what. As a former Texan, this place is a disgrace. I visited last night, and I cannot wrap my head around how cheap and idiotic it is to only have one person on register when there's a line of people out their door. As a result, you wait 15 minutes to place your order, then it takes about 20 minutes to get your food. And then, if you have any tastebuds or brain cells, the food is absolutely TERRIBLE. This place makes Taco Bell seem like fine cuisine. Another reviewer said this place tastes like gentrification, like a white person tasted a taco once in their life, decided they would start a taco business, and this was the result - so friggin accurate. The food is so god awful and bland and not worth the hype, the wait, or the money. Came here after a morning bike ride with some buddies. We chose it because it was close to the trailhead and had great reviews. They have a small parking lot but we were easily able to find street parking. Right away we were greeted with an open airy dining area and kitchen. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One buddy ordered the ranch salad with a side of carnitas. I ordered three different tacos to try all their vegetarian options: the Maxine, emo, and potato. All were good. By far my favorite was the Maxine. It had shitake mushrooms, black beans, avocado, caramelized onions, tortilla strips, and on their signature flour tortilla. Next time I m getting three of these. This place is great. It's not my favorite to eat at because of the screaming kids, so we get things to go quite regularly. The staff is always friendly. Parking is a bitch and sometimes the line is tough deal with. The tacos are delicious and the flour tortillas fantastic, so much so I can't bring myself to order the corn. Her first suggestion of the crispy potatoes and queso was a slam dunk & a must have for all future visits. The "Migas" are a Texas take on chilaquiles. It's a very filling order, and can be shared if you want to try a few tacos too. Parking is small but depending of the day and time, you might find a spot in the lot or something on the street. They have kids chairs and offer crayons to occupy little ones. There's ample seating inside and out. You'll also find several water stations for yourself and your furry friends. I will definitely be back here or to another of their many locations. For drinks, We got the SummerTea and the Hibiscus Limeade. I personally liked the hibiscus limeade and my boyfriend liked the summertea. For food, We ordered the Trinity, Guadalupe and Pecos. Homestate is overhyped. If we had to choose, trinity was our favorite. Everything was very bland and tasteless. The chorizo had no flavor at all. The sauces were also not that great. You can't even taste the sauces on the tacos and it wasn't spicy at all which was super disappointing for us. Gave an extra star cause the cashier was very friendly and helpful. Decided to pick up some breakfast tacos on the way to a morning hike to the Eaton Canyon Falls Trail. So glad the big billboard caught my attention because breakfast tacos in California have yet to really catch on. I easily ordered 4 breakfast tacos and 2 iced coffees online. I was driving a monster truck so parked on the street only to realize that they had a spacious and private parking lot. Upon entering, I noticed an outdoor patio and paloma slushy that I wished I could've taken advantage of, instead I just grabbed my food and was off my merry way. Working for these tacos after a 1.5 hour hike may have made them that much more enjoyable to my tastebuds but my husband (a born and raised Texan) approved of them too so they must have just been solid breakfast tacos though at California prices. We had the 2 pecos, 1 frio, and 1 neches all with flour tortillas (the way to go). The pecos was our favorite (our dog's too as they were packed and fell from our tacos).
