The tacos are loaded with lotsss of egg so if you're not into egg maybe you can ask for less egg. I love eggs so i'm fine with it but my husband is annoyed that he cannot taste anything except the egg LOL! They give you a red and green sauce to drizzle on your tacos. * Classic migas (eggs scrambled with crispy corn strips and cheese). I came here because I was really intrigued by their breakfast tacos and this place was really good. We ordered the 1 guadalupe, 2 trinity, 1 brisket and a small queso with chips on the side. The service here is just like Corners Bakery or Panera Bread where you order 1st and you bring the table number with you. The food was tasty and I liked how they brought a whole bottle of salsa verde and roja so you don't have to ask for more. Each taco is also labeled so you know which taco is what. Parking here is a bit tight because it's a small parking lot. If you find parking here, then you are lucky. If not, I suggest street parking. I would definitely come back here for more! read more

I visited last night, and I cannot wrap my head around how cheap and idiotic it is to only have one person on register when there's a line of people out their door. As a result, you wait 15 minutes to place your order, then it takes about 20 minutes to get your food. And then, if you have any tastebuds or brain cells, the food is absolutely TERRIBLE. This place makes Taco Bell seem like fine cuisine. Another reviewer said this place tastes like gentrification, like a white person tasted a taco once in their life, decided they would start a taco business, and this was the result - so friggin accurate. The food is so god awful and bland and not worth the hype, the wait, or the money. Came here after a morning bike ride with some buddies. We chose it because it was close to the trailhead and had great reviews. They have a small parking lot but we were easily able to find street parking. Right away we were greeted with an open airy dining area and kitchen. The staff were all friendly and helpful. One buddy ordered the ranch salad with a side of carnitas. I ordered three different tacos to try all their vegetarian options: the Maxine, emo, and potato. All were good. By far my favorite was the Maxine. It had shitake mushrooms, black beans, avocado, caramelized onions, tortilla strips, and on their signature flour tortilla. Next time I m getting three of these. This place is great. It's not my favorite to eat at because of the screaming kids, so we get things to go quite regularly. The staff is always friendly. Again, that might be your jam, so adjust your expectations accordingly. Personally, I was expecting something closer to MX tacos, but I just don't see it here. Homestate is overhyped. If we had to choose, trinity was our favorite. Everything was very bland and tasteless. The chorizo had no flavor at all. The sauces were also not that great. This is a new place to the Pasadena area. It replaces a very cute restaurant so I was glad they kept the same vibe. I loved all the plants on the walls!! I ordered our food and sat at the bar to wait. I loved watching the woman make the flour tortillas. They would puff up while cooking on the flat top, she would go kitten and stack them. We all ordered something different. I ordered a breakfast taco ( Guadalupe) chorizo eggs and cheese in a HomeState flour tortilla-the tortillas were delicious, and a brisket taco that came with a slaw also yummy. The others ordered brisket migas, with avocado which looked small but was filling and a brisket quesadilla. The brisket was flavorful, tender, and there was plenty of meat in all 3 of our orders. We also ordered the big guacamole- it had the perfect amount of avocado and lime and came with chips-those homemade flour tortillas again. Decided to pick up some breakfast tacos on the way to a morning hike to the Eaton Canyon Falls Trail. So glad the big billboard caught my attention because breakfast tacos in California have yet to really catch on. I easily ordered 4 breakfast tacos and 2 iced coffees online. I was driving a monster truck so parked on the street only to realize that they had a spacious and private parking lot. Upon entering, I noticed an outdoor patio and paloma slushy that I wished I could've taken advantage of, instead I just grabbed my food and was off my merry way. Working for these tacos after a 1.5 hour hike may have made them that much more enjoyable to my tastebuds but my husband (a born and raised Texan) approved of them too so they must have just been solid breakfast tacos though at California prices. We had the 2 pecos, 1 frio, and 1 neches all with flour tortillas (the way to go). The pecos was our favorite (our dog's too as they were packed and fell from our tacos). Pasadena diners have been wearing black (in mourning) since Lincoln closed two years ago, as it was our go-to lunch spot north of the freeway. Fortunately, when one Yelp door closes, another opens. Welcome HomeState to the Lincoln space, with the same nice sized parking lot (and tons of freebie street parking). This is HomeState's fifth location. Super friendly and helpful staff. Everyone here is so nice. What's missing? All the Lincoln desserts, layer cakes and super baked goods. What's new? Alcohol! I guess that's a fair trade-off. There IS a HomeState choco-chip cookie which is pretty delicious. Breakfast tacos and chips are top of the list here. We had the Trinity (bacon, eggs, potato, cheese; I could eat ten of these), Guadalupe, Blanco, Pecos, and Brazos (more black beans than you're expecting). Anytime tacos also hit the spot: the Brisket was a favorite. Next time, I'm getting the chicken and cheese quesadilla, as a gent at my long shared table got that and it looked good. Homestate is just always reliable. I really love this location and the vibe there is awesome! Super mellow at the time I went (8:00pm). The only downfall is parking. They have a super small lot and I mean small - about 4-5 spaces out front. There's an extension lot but the entry way is so narrow I almost scratched my car lol. Not a huge deal but most likely you'll be parking on the street. If you haven't had HomeState - try it! Any location is great as they've all been consistent. My go to: - trinity taco - pecos taco - don't mess with Texas All on their flour tortillas that they make in house. The spicy chicken quesadilla was also so delicious and crispy, in addition to the frito pie! Well, I'm clearly swimming against the stream on this one, so keep that in mind. The place was packed, with a line out the door, mainly because you have to order from one cashier to place your order. Then you wait at a communal table with your number for them to bring your order to you. I was just going to order the potatoes, when my missus remembered she had eaten at one of the other branches in the past and hated it. We still had time to kill while our kiddo jammed with a new band he was thinking of joining, so we had to get something. I ordered the chips with queso (they will refill your chips for free), and a margarita on the rocks. The woman at the order counter was friendly. All the staff was cool overall. The problem is the food. They gave us the chips (which were fine, of course), along with queso and red and green salsa bottles. The queso, red, and green salsas were all as bland as tap water. I realized nothing had any taste. It strikes me this is Americanized Mexican food for hipsters who don't like spices of any kind. Bottom line, we didn't order much and the place is very popular. My gal said she has ordered a bunch of stuff the last time she went and felt it was all tasteless and bland, as well. Also if you have a truck/big SUV, it's probably better if you just park on the street. All in all, I won't be coming back. Came to HomeState on the recommendation of my friend Johann! After I did a 14 mile run in the Pasadena area, I was wiped. Johann suggested a couple tacos and some queso from HomeState to make me feel better, so I decided to give it a try. Although, I was almost back to my house, I made quick u-turn to give HomeState a try. I got 2 tacos and a side of queso. Delicious! I actually really like the vegetarian ones the best. The mushrooms with the eggs in the tacos were fantastic. It was so good, i went back the following week to get it again, but that time i learned that the trick is to place your order online! The prices are a bit high for the small tacos, and the place has become pretty hipster. However, the quality was great, service was good, and speed of the meal was reasonable.
