This location is located in the heart of Altadena. Service is good at the atmosphere is fun. I ordered the bacon and egg taco with a frozen Bellini margarita. The taco was delicious and so was the margarita. They have happy hour on margarita's during the week from 3pm to 6pm.

Had no idea that this franchise even existed, but it's apparently a Texas kitchen in SoCal (so all locations are in SoCal). I want to cry out Texas larp, but I'm just being a funny little guy. My friend wanted to try the Parachute taco as it's a Hayley Williams collaboration item. It's neat because $1 from each taco benefits the Immigrant Defenders Law Center, so I'm glad that our super late night dinner had some overall meaning to it. Since they also serve breakfast dishes here, I'm feeling like it's more of a brunch place as this location closes at 9 PM. Not for the late night alchies people. We ordered online and everything was ready super fast for us. Just a note, that Parachute taco was on the mobile order, but strangely not on the menu on the website. They also ask you several times regarding salsa so make sure you get extra for free (red and green salsa in small sauce containers). Not super spicy in the slightest, but adds another layer of fresh acidic taste. I'm used to red sauce being searingly spicy, but not the case here. This location can be a bit easy to miss since it's on a main street and the turn in can get a bit tight. But you can always get street parking. No issues since we went right before they closed, but it looks like it can get really packed and tight around breakfast/brunch time. It's a very chill and relax ambience. Welcoming and warm. The outdoor area is very well lit and nice in the evening. Loved the lemon tree and I think the olive tree that they had there too. It's vibes as they say. PRO-TIP: Get the corn tortillas. You can taste the delicious corn flavor of the dough. For our dinner, we got the: 1) The Parachute by Hayley Williams: -The reason why we visited and surprisingly the best of the three. A huge surprise since it was the only one we ordered without meat. -This taco comes with mushrooms, black beans, lettuce, tortilla strips, Monterey jack cheese, and tomatillo ranch. -Creaminess from the cheese, slight chew from the mushrooms with a roasted taste, love the crunch from the tortilla strips, and everything came together really nicely. 2) Vaquero: -This comes with brisket, pickled jalapenos, onions, cilantro and lime. This was the one my friend and I both were eyeing as an additional taco. -It was sadly the most disappointing of the three. You'd think with all those toppings inside, it'd be more flavorful. Sadly not. -The brisket was dry and both of us used the most of the salsa on this taco in particular. I'd skip this one. 3) Forth Worth by Leon Bridges: -As a mild neurotic person, I don't listen to music that much, so I have no idea who this is, but I chose this taco since it had chicken and it's a different protein from the rest of the tacos. -This was the most stacked of the bunch, filled to the brim with ingredients and by virtue of that, the most messiest. Have lots of napkins on hand. -This comes with slightly spicy chicken (moist and yummy), bacon, pickled jalapenos, pico de gallo, lettuce, and tomatillo ranch. -I actually liked the bacon in this taco, slight crispiness with some of the rich fatty bits of bacon thrown in too. It's not just lazy bacon bits tossed in. Overall not bad! The tacos weren't the most visually appealing and a bit messy, so FYI. Overall not bad and it goes to a good cause. It's not the most authentic best tacos out there (for that I'd just go to a street stall, but it's great for the more unique combinations).

Tried homestate through catering. Each box has 24 individually wrapped baby burritos. Tried the comal (eggs, black beans, Monterey Jack) $112; chicken (a bit spicy, guacamole , cabbage) $148; brisket (brisket, guacamole, cabbage) $172; ranch salad $40. You can choose flour (HIGHLY recommend) and corn tortilla. The box of tacos include 8 oz green salsa and 8 oz red salsa. I LOVED the green salsa, not spicy at all. The highlight of the burritos were the flour tortilla. The tacos are small in size so you can try many different kinds. I liked that each burrito is individually wrapped and taped. Good and tasty option for parties.

Coming back around to just say I still love love love Homestate, and the Vaquero Taco was sooo good. I usually just get ground beef but happy I tried a new one too. The queso dip and guacamole are great to share even in small sizes. Their summer tea also hit the spot. My friend and I were in the area and I told her - we HAVE to go to Homestate. If I'm ever near one, I always go out of my way. Indoor and outdoor seating both very comfy. Pleaseeee expand to San Diego, I'm counting on you guys!

Great spot in Pasadena for delicious Tex-Mex style tacos. Parking is limited with a tiny lot, but there is street parking around. For dine in, you order first before finding seat with a table number, and they will bring the food to your table. I especially love their flour tortillas. My friend and I came for lunch and got 2 tacos each, which was filling enough for us. We got the Blanco breakfast taco with egg whites, mushrooms, and monterey jack. Pecos breakfast taco with brisket, eggs, Fort Worth taco with chicken, bacon, pickled jalapeños, pico de gallo, lettuce, tomatillo ranch and Comal breakfast taco with eggs, black beans, and monterey jack. My favorite was the Blanco vegetarian taco because it had a good amount of egg whites and cheese which was simple but delicious with hot sauce. The Pecos brisket taco was also pretty tasty, but the meat was a tad dry. The Comal is good if you like bean burritos since that's what it tasted like, though I wish there was more egg in it. The Fort Worth is apparantly one of more popular choices, and I enjoyed the flavor, but the chicken was kind of dry. Overall the tacos were tasty and I enjoyed my meal. The tacos are on the pricier side but it has good quality and taste and definitely bigger than a typical taco.

Overall: think yuppie TexMex fast casual rather than fast food grab and go. Part of the experience is sitting down and enjoying the ambience, but even then it's hard to ignore the difficulty with parking. Food: the positives were that the flour tortilla had a little bit of that fresh flour texture rather than your supermarket artificial taste. The trinity packed good flavor with the fatty bacon lathering up the eggs and potatoes. The chorizo was similarly well smoked such that it really brought out that traditional flavor. The cons were that the portions were a little tight. Obviously if this were just out of a food truck like in Texas then it might be beefed up but nonetheless it seems a little under value. The brisket was a bit dry and lacking in punch which surprises me for Tex Mex but maybe they're not known for that. Ambience/Decor/Service: the interior is clean and lively and reminds me of tocaya almost. Very lively Latin American experience but in an Americanized way. Their service is fast but be warned. Their parking is quite difficult!!! You'll find limited spots in their shared lots and the street parking also gets really packed!

First time at this location. Much more open with solid amount of seating options both inside and outside. Service was good. Staff were friendly and efficient. The quesadilla with ground beef was a hit with my kid. Ate ALL of it which is rare. I had the Fort Worth-brisket, bacon, cabbage, and guacamole, it was fabulous. Also the potato, which was just ok for me. Overall, delicious Tex Mex style tacos that fill you up. Bonus-happy hour all day for Dodgers' Opening Day. Downside-parking lot is terrible so opt for street parking.

Place seems chill. Very TexMex vibes. Bumping some oldies at the moment. I ordered the Brisket which I was told is what they are known for, the Fort Worth (without pickled jalapeños though), crispy potatoes, and my wife got breakfast tacos served all day which were the Trinity and the Neche. There are lots of vegan options on the menu to choose from. Personally I'm not a fan of TexMex but I'm pretty hungry so trying something new. For drinks an unsweetened tea and I the lemonade. The lemonade was utterly sweet and tarty for my taste. The tea tasted better in my opinion. I would have ordered a Modelo tall can but I'm driving so decided to be responsible tonight. Food arrived within a decent time. Potatoes are on point! First taco I try is the brisket. It's cold. Bit dry but not too bad. My wife really enjoyed the trinity. The next one she tried was the Neche. She says the beans taste like canned beans. But does compliment the tortillas. For my next taco the a Fort Worth is a bit too sloppy for my liking. The tortilla is stuck to the wrapper and is hard to grab without getting your hands messy. Tastes like something from Taco Bell. Overall a star for service, and two stars for the potatoes. Sad to say that If I do come back it be for the crispy potatoes and breakfast tacos. Otherwise not a place I recommend to my friends unless they seek TexMex style tacos.

An ideal Mexican breakfast bank! There's all the right stuff here, eggs, seed oil free fries, delightful juices, and fun staff. We seven made a great time with flavor filed tacos and coffee from nextdoor. One easy recommendation, bright and tangy Arnold Palmer, tacos for days!

Like everyone says, parking is terrible here. The lot is always full. Its hard to find parking on Lincoln Inside it is pleasant. A nice atmosphere and great place to meet up with friends Food was ready fairly quickly. Lots of staff all moving around quickly. Pretty good service $7 for a taco is crazy. It is meaty and substantial so i understand. It is bland. With so many great places for tacos in the area, I dont understand why this place. I understand a place like this in the midwest where it is the only place for tacos. Not much flavor, not the usual taco flavors, cheese and potatoes in a taco?? I understand how some people might really like this place. I am not one of those people

GREAT place in pasadena to grab some casual food and great drinks! Delicious tacos with local ingredients. Our favorites are the blanco taco (vegetarian with egg whites, mushrooms, monterey jack), the frito pie, their queso and chips area fantastic. We liked visiting the Huntington Garden and stopping here for a quick bite to eat. Awesome margaritas and palomas. Nice, quick service. Plenty of seating at indoor tables and a cute outdoor patio. Never overly crowded. Parking: they have a private lot next to their store which is super convenient

The tacos were delicious. It was my first time ordering online and the process was smooth and easy. I liked being able to customize each taco -- remove cheese, add what I wanted. Paid with Apple Pay, got a receipt right away, and an email when my order was ready. Super efficient. Parking can be tricky, but I'd read Yelp reviews ahead of time and just pulled over on Lincoln while my friend ran in. The order was prepaid and ready to grab. She said the place was clean and everyone inside was friendly and efficient. I brought the tacos back to my house so I could hang out and catch up with my friend. We made coffee, enjoyed the tacos, and had a good time. I don't usually eat eggs, so they were a little heavy for me, but still delicious. My favorite was the Trinity with bacon, eggs, potatoes, and the green salsa.

Parking is rough! They have a tiny lot up top, then a second tiny lot if you follow the arrows down a small hill. This is TexMex style tacos which lean toward BBQ and smoky flavors over spice. They were great! Two tacos and half an order of chips was more than enough for lunch. Staff are so busy that you won't have time to chat. You order at the counter, wait for a table to open up, then sit with your number sign and staff will bring you the food. They are about 50/50 indoor/outdoor seating. The outdoor seating is super cute and allows dogs!

Had a dinner reservation with some girlfriends celebrating two of their birthdays. The restaurant itself isn't too big but it does a pack a nice punch. Cute patio out front that takes some of the sidewalks and streets. Plenty of heat lamps which helped with the chilly nights. We got seated at one of the tables on the patios which was nice. Didn't really utilize inside area except for the restroom which it's quite cute in there. The rooms were pretty well decorated and executed. Nice bar area too. Like mentioned, we got seated on the patio and the heat lamps were great. Down to the menus, it's quite limited on dishes. Seemed like there were more shared plates versus the entrees. Drinks, it was fairly decent with their cocktails and wine. Service at the beginning was great. The staff were amazing and very friendly. We didn't order right away as we were still waiting for the last one to show. But did start off with some drinks. It didn't take that long for the first round which was nice. Food wise, the shared plate was a mixture of everything. Some of the olives, which is exactly what it is. The Belgian fries, nice thick cut fries with shredded pecorino cheese and a nice aioli sauce. We ended up getting a second order of it. The albacore tuna crudo was a hit which was really tasty. Chili ginger relish, mint and shallot, can't go wrong with that. Lastly the meatballs, tasty and very great for sharing. Entrees, the pan seared sea bass which I loved. Portion is pretty tiny which also seemed like they were a shared plate. Almost tapas styled. Nice chimichurri sauce and a side salad. The chicken Milanese also with a side salad of arugula. Simple dish but quite tasty. One of the salads that was somewhat hyped up by the waitress but it was just a salad. Decent but nothing major to rave about...lol... also the confit oyster mushrooms was major hit. Something that simple but quite tasty. And lastly the pan con tomate, rustic sourdough with tomatoes and burrata. Tasty as well. Overall the meal was good. From there, the second round of drinks did take a long time to arrive and with then plates that we shared, trying to get someone to clear the plates was another thing. Took a long for someone to clear the table before more items came. Even when the entrees came, all the empty starter plates were still there. And if someone did clear the plates, some was still left on the table. Finishing off the night, we did have the dessert which we tried all three. As it was two of our girlfriends birthday, they brought out a little bubbly for us to celebrate with the dessert. That was quite sweet and nice. Honestly opinion with the dessert, they were just ok. Nothing major to rave about. We tried all three on the menu and they were just ok. Overall, the food was great. Service was nice and the staffs were all very friendly. It did take a while for plates to get cleared from the table and second round did take a while, but it was manageable. It was a sweet gesture with the bubbly with the dessert which was greatly appreciated. The place is nice and great for catching up. Menu is limited and portions are quite small. You would have to get a good amount for sharing. Entrees, depending on what you order is small as well. But we enjoyed ourself.

Would it kill them to add a veggie burger? Service is consistently awful. I've been here half a dozen times and I've never had good service. Drinks and water are never refilled unless I ask. It takes forever to get our order and once we do our server disappears. Seriously so bad. But I keep coming back for their good food.

We came for drinks and some food, I know it is expected to leave a tip but my friend just wanted to give her mom a nice experience for her birthday so we came here. I understand tipping is nice but it shouldn't be expected. It's not our fault that you're not paid a living wage. This wasn't the main issue though, it was that the literal server came after us into the women's restroom demanding an explanation for why there was no tip. This was completely inappropriate and we felt horrified being followed into the restroom by a male server. Horrible experience that we went through and totally ruined the morning. We didn't get his name, he was a 40 year old man that told us his background was from Chihuahua, Mexico, he had a full beard and was wearing his hair in a man bun. Definitely calling about this to complain, we hope that they speak with him about his inappropriate behavior.

Kevin handled everything we threw at him with incredible grace and the rest of the staff was attentive throughout the multi-hour affair. The whole team scrambled due to our undercounting guests and still created an unforgettable experience. Everyone at the dinner raved about the food (from the bread and butter through the mains) and loved all of the cocktails. The Alien pool party was the standout and the team even thought ahead to make sure they didn't run out of aliens! I would absolutely host other events and highly recommend them for a simple dinner out or for hosting your events.

We decided to spring for valet parking for $8 but then realized there's 2 hour street parking for free just beyond the hedges in front of the restaurant afterwards. Oh well, it was a special occasion. We were seated right at 6 (the time of our reservation). The hostess also made sure we knew our server's name and brought us ice water. (You can choose bottled or tap). Our server's name Jennifer was friendly and attentive throughout the evening. We ordered the horseradish crusted salmon and the steak frites and our friends ordered the truffle mushroom tagliatelle and the filet mignon. We were all extremely happy and satisfied with our entrees. The portions are perfect. No doggy bags needed and no room for dessert. I really enjoyed the broccolini that accompanied my salmon--it was cooked just enough to retain a little crunch. The savory sauce on the salmon was subtle and complimentary to the flaky fish. We sat in the bar room of this restaurant that used to be a house. The patio looked lovely too, especially on a summer evening so maybe we'll choose that next time. Because you can bet there'll be a next time!

This bar is tucked inside Vroman's Bookstore (already one of the most charming and iconic bookstores in the area) so the entire experience feels like stepping into a warm, literary universe. You can browse for a new book, take in the bookstore's atmosphere, and then walk straight into the bar. Honestly, it's the perfect outing. What makes 1894 truly special is how intentionally it celebrates literature. Everything in the bar pays homage to the bookstore. The drink menu is full of clever, book-inspired names. You'll find cocktails like Pride and PearJudice Pride, Fifty Shades of Earl Grey, and other fun literary twists. Every drink feels like a little wink to readers, writers, and book lovers, and it adds such a unique charm to the experience. The vibe is super quaint and warm, dim lighting, and a creative atmosphere that makes you want to stay for hours. The wine is on the pricier side ($19-$21 per glass), but the quality delivers. Customer service was excellent. One of the bartenders spent time chatting with us. He pointed out a chalk artwork behind the bar a dramatic portrait he drew himself featuring expressive, literary-style faces, like Edgar Allan Poe, Gabriel Garcia Marquez, etc. It fits perfectly with the creative, bookish aesthetic of the bar. If you're into books, wine, and unique experiences, 1894 is a spot you absolutely can't miss. Perfect for a date, a solo unwind-with-a-book moment, or a fun night with friends who appreciate a good story and a great drink.
