Nestled in downtown Sumer is the Hometown Charm Cafe. Decided to come one early Saturday morning with my daughter. We were greeted and seated upstairs. Our wait person was super friendly and helpful. Our order was taken we decided on the dirty biscuits and gravy after a brief explanation as to what made them dirty. We were served coffee and settled into waiting for our meal. Quaint small town charm. It was very inviting and out waitperson was friendly and talkative to make the time pass. When we finally received our food I was shocked over how big this plate of yummy looking home-good food this was! My mouth was salivating in anticipation. My first bite into the over medium eggs and biscuits and yummy gravy was so satisfying! Everything melted together perfectly! The ham that made it dirty was thin and delicious! We were lured in by the promise of rhubarb pie. Chose to share a pastrami and Swiss panini in order to save room for dessert. On our way upstairs I could not help but notice the filthy condition of the carpet. I don't approve of carpeted floors in restaurants to begin with, but in high traffic areas they truly require daily vacuuming which is certainly not happening here. Our sandwich was OK, nothing special. The pie was good but when I asked for ice cream for my husband's portion, the waitress didn't know if they had any..it turned out they didn't. This was our go to breakfast up until the county closed them for not paying their taxes. New owners initially kept up the quality but now (more new owners?) it is just another restaurant. Give them a try just realize it is mediocre and a tad expensive for what you get. read more

April wanted to argue with us and treat us like we shouldn't be there. treating us like liars, once they figured everything out, April wants to act like nothing ever happened, ruining our entire appetite, we tried to eat something after the whole ordeal so we got a cinnamon roll and it was just dough with icing. We just wanted to up and leave but we're not thief's, so we proceeded to pay and the sever took an eternity to take our money, and by the time she did, she just assumed all of the money was hers, so we sat and waited for our change and it never came, we had to physically get up and ask for out 5$ in change. Always a great spot to come for breakfast or lunch. Classic breakfast fare is always a safe bet, love their standard bacon and eggs breakfast. Maybe a cinnamon roll if I'm feelin feisty! Coffee is about what you would expect from a diner. Not the best, but it's hot and your cup is never empty. Prices have gone up with COVID. Can't blame them, but hopeful the return closer to normal when they're allowed to be fully open. Where Hometown really shines is their service. I've been over a dozen times and the majority of those visits Hallie has been who has helped us so I can't speak much to the others, but she is fantastic! Always friendly, fast, and attentive. Seriously. Get the bacon. read more

I really liked this place. They had outdoor seating which allowed for dogs. The people helping us were very nice. I was going to order a burger but heard one of the specials and ordered that. It was biscuits and gravy with both ham and bacon on top with egg and cheese on top with a side I chose of potatoes. It was too rich for me personally. But I think others would love it. The person I was with ordered the sandwich special with the side she chose as fruit. It was all fresh and everything seemed cleaned with large portions (didn't need dinner after) and very reasonably priced. I'd go again but would order differently just for me. read more

It's honestly the cutest little cafe. We got an assortment of things and everything was pretty delicious! The omelette had a homemade hollandaise sauce and tomatoes inside with Swiss cheese on top.. it doesn't look like much but the sauce really makes this! It was one of the best things on the table. We happened to be in the area, so we decided to stop by this cafe today for breakfast. Oh my gawd, what a cute little town! The atmosphere was warm. The service was very friendly and welcoming; super nice staff. Out waitress recommended the Hash and secondly the Eggs Benedict, so we ordered one of each. Both were delicious, but I would have to agree that the Hash tasted better; perfectly cooked and seasoned with the right veggie combination. On checkout, we ordered a deluxe cinnamon roll topped with cream cheese filling, nuts, caramel drizzle. We tried it when we got home. It was perfect, not too sweet, and full of yumminess. If you happen to be in Sumner and are looking for a good place for breakfast, this is the place. The next time we're there, we might want to also try their lunch menu. read more

I wish I could give this place 0 stars. It's extremely over priced for the food. Drinks are separate for kids meals, all 7 of our meals were cold. The sign said "parties of 6 have an automatic 20% gratuity, one check is preferred" and we had 5 of us on one check and 2 on another because we were paying separately and we were both charged the 20% gratuity. Even though it was two checks. Had the sign said "tables" over 6, sure but it said parties and there was nothing mentioned when we asked for two checks in the VERY beginning. Mentioning that would have been nice. But $110 for 2 adult meals and 3 kids meals is INSANE, especially since it was cold. I don't think we will be back. Came in on Sunday and it was extremely busy, we waited about only 20 minutes to be seated and once we got seated the server was right there getting our drink order. After taking our order our server let us know the food might take a little longer than normal due to the kitchen being backed up with big parties. We understood that and thought it was very nice of her to let us know ahead of time. Finally got our food and it was delicious, I ordered the BAC omlette and my wife ordered the bacon and eggs combo it was well worth the wait. Considering eating out is so much more expensive these days, it has to be worth it to me to spend the extra money. This place just doesn't cut it for me, and I won't be returning. Our family of 4 went for breakfast, and I was super disappointed with the food. The french toast was made with plain old sandwich bread and had zero flavor. Seems pretty hard to screw up french toast, but they managed to do so. The cinnamon roll was overly sweet and mushy. Another disappointment. On a positive note, my husband ordered his eggs over-medium and that's exactly how they came (which is uncommon in his experience). If you check out this cute place in a cute little downtown area, I'd just recommend avoiding the french toast and cinnamon rolls. read more

First impression: Friendly staff and downhill from there. Sticky table. Butter knife with jam still on it wrapped up in napkin with a fork to be used by unsuspecting customers. I overhear a waitress apologize because for the second time an order never got turned in today. Finished my first cup of coffee to see that the cup is filthy. Gf finishes hers to reveal the same. Approached an adult about it who identified as the owner. She says, " they get stained". I show her that I could literally rub it off with my finger, she says, "oh yeah, he's a teenager, it's his last day". I should have asked why she hadn't trained her staff but I figured I'd hear moe excuses. Food was plentiful but unimpressive. Service was slow.
