The food is fantastic and will definitely fill you up and the service was very friendly. The Amish wedding dinner was the ultimate in comfort food. We also tried the meat loaf, which was great. If you are in the area and want to try a great Amish restaurant, you should stop by. As good as the food was, the whoopie pie, which we bought as we were leaving, was our favorite. What in the world happened!?;?!? This was a place you can go for the best home fries, breakfast lunch and dinner was always excellent. Service was always impeccable. I walked in to smoke and burnt smell, well, looking around, all the girls, same age, all daydreaming, no one on task, food left cooling after sitting in the table pickup. The girl back on the grill kept walking away burning everything. All kept going in a huddle to chat instead of work. This was our last stop before coming home. The food was served family style and there was plenty to go around. It was like being at Grandma's for a Sunday dinner. From the salad to the shoo fly Pie everything was tasty. There was plenty of fresh baked bread and Strawberry jam coming home on the bus. The service was excellent there was no long wait between servings. It was clean and comfortable, and plenty of elbow room. I would for sure visit again if I am ever near Lancaster again. read more

This is a small Amish run establishment in the countryside of Lancaster County. I have been here many times and always look forward to going when I am in that area. The kitchen is open and completely visible to the dining area. Amish women run the kitchen and you can watch as they quickly prepare your order. The restaurant is clean and offers great prices. Locals love this place and you can find yourself sitting among a mix of Amish and non-Amish patrons. Servers are always very friendly and attentive. They bake bread there as well and is used in their menu items but loaves are also available for purchase. They do accept credit cards. read more

Been going there for quite a while. Always had good meals and superb service. In the last few months our utensils show a grayish film on them, and it seems to be getting worse. Maybe a bad dishwasher? At first we didn't let it bother us, but it's getting to the point where it's heavy enough that it affects my appetite. We shouldn't have to scrub the silverware with our napkin before we use them. It's a shame, because everything else is great and I'm concerned maybe the plates aren't as clean as they should be either. They were closed the other day due to the fire company sale across the street, so we went to Katy's Kitchen in Strasburg. It was like getting hit in the head...the utensils were so clean and shiny, it was the first thing we noticed. Hopefully, Hometown can get this resolved, or I'm afraid we are going to start driving to Strasburg more often. read more

Well worth breaking my diet for! Everything looked delicious, but once I saw the meatloaf I knew that was what I wanted! The server was friendly and all of our food was fresh and tasty! We just ate a hometown kitchen breakfast and it was delicious! My husband had an baked oatmeal bowl with blueberries and noted it as the best he's had. I had a western omelette that was stuffed with ham, peppers, onions, and mushrooms-added mushrooms as extra and held the cheese. Came with 2 fresh slices of tasted wheat bread which I coated with fresh strawberry preserves brought to the table. My daughter had a French toast platter, also delicious. Very big portions, great service, and you can see the Amish ladies cooking in the kitchen. Highly recommend! read more

I am shocked this place has such high reviews- unless perhaps their breakfast does not compare at all to their lunch/dinner. My husband & I came here for breakfast yesterday, and neither of us were impressed. I ordered the breakfast platter #7 with eggs, bacon, and pancakes. The pancakes lacked flavor & the eggs were cooked to a rubbery texture. Also the restaurant was very cold- both in temperature and atmosphere. Our server was sweet & helpful, but unfortunately that could not make up for the restaurant's many weaknesses. I feel bad giving a place such a harsh review, but honestly I was quite disappointed. read more

I was born and raised in Lancaster County and work for a local ambulance company. Hometown Kitchen has always been one of our favorite places to eat. If you want genuine homemade Pennsylvania Dutch cooking for a reasonable price this is the place to go. For breakfast try their homemade bread paired with Amish style strawberry jam (yum). For dinner try their chicken pot pie (this is a stew for those that aren't familiar,) or try a Lancaster County favorite, ham loaf and mashed potatoes. These Amish women take pride in their cooking and have yet to disappoint. Make sure you grab a whoopie pie before you leave too! Hometown Kitchen is a small simple place in the country, but I always recommend this place when encountering tourists. read more

We have been coming to the Lancaster area for decades for vacations and weekend getaways. This year we were staying at Roamer's Campground wanted some good Amish-style food for dinner but didn't want to deal with the very early closing hours and high prices of Plain-n-Fancy or Good-n-Plenty. I found this place on Yelp and decided to try it out. The decor is simple. The Amish women prepare your meal in an open kitchen right in front of you. The staff were friendly courteous and attentive. The prices were very reasonable, actually downright affordable. Not the inflated prices you pay at the tourist traps on 30. The food was all delicious and portions were good sized. I would definitely recommend it and will definitely be back in our future visits to the Lancaster area. read more

My wife and I have been coming to the Lancaster area for many years and this was our first time here for lunch. Wow. Great simple food, nothing fancy, but excellently prepared. My wife had a chicken salad sandwich and potato salad, I had a grilled steak and cheese sub with a side of macaroni salad. The chicken salad was fresh and tasty on house made bread to die for. My sub consisted of melt in your mouth shaved steak, peppers, onions, melted cheese and a light bbq sauce. Full female staff of friendly cooks and servers. Clean restaurant and very reasonable prices. For the two of us, including drinks a cup of great chicken and noodle soup, the bill was a little over 20 dollars. I had high hopes coming here for breakfast. Walked in I grabbed myself a high chair for my son and it was so dirty and slimy I had remnants on my hands so I made my husband go get wipes out of the car to clean it off. The chairs around the tables are wooden but are so nasty and dirty I didn't even want to sit down. The table clothes were sticky and the communal jelly on the table was so unsanitary. Honestly I should have walked out based on cleanliness alone. Had I not drove 17 mins from Dutch Wonderland area I would have. The food was just okay. I got a mushroom and Swiss omelet and the mushroom were from a can. Like really?! You're in farm country and you give me canned mushroom. Super disappointing. French toast and pancakes were good not amazing. Coffee wasn't anything special. read more
