I ordered their chicken spring rolls for pick up and when I picked up, I asked her if I could get two limes. When I opened my food container, I noticed that she didnt put the limes inside, so I went back to ask and she said that they're not allowed to give out things like that that don't come with an order. Ok Vietnamese place. The pho is fairly pricey (nearly 18-20 a bowl?) and the broth seems to be the same regardless of the order (eg chicken pho vs beef) so be aware if you have food restrictions. The grilled pork and beef was ok, and the spring rolls were not bad but could be fresher. The raw beef for the pho is packed with the noodles if you're getting takeout so make sure you pick it up while the soup is still hot enough to cook it - we picked up a bit later than expected and had to reheat on stovetop. We stumbled across this Vietnamese restaurant in Redwood City. Little did I know that Redwood City is predominantly Hispanic, but we quickly found out once we found the restaurant and saw that it was the only Asian restaurant nestled in between other Mexican stores. The door to the restaurant is loose and so any strong winds would just keep pushing the door open and close which did dampen our eating experience. Inside is a mix of eclectic artwork that I wouldn't necessarily say has a theme. There's a handful of tables each with designated paper mats laid out. I ordered the rare steak pho and my dad got the rare steak and brisket. Service was quick and they were accommodating when my dad requested more basil. The noodles aren't fresh, they're the dried noodles that are just boiled. Taste wise, I wouldn't say it's authentic, but the rare steak was tender and chewy. Overall, it gets the job done if you're craving something warm and soupy in the area. read more

Solid pho Despite its unassuming appearance, they make good pho. Got the hometown special which contains all the meats plus ribs. All the meat was tender and the large was more than enough for me. Broth had good flavor and they provided the usual sprouts and basils (which I learned in the Bay Area is not always a given). Seriously the best pho and spring rolls around! I always just get chicken pho, and their broth is so flavorful and tasty, and not too sweet, which I appreciate. Their shrimp spring rolls, as well as the grilled chicken or pork spring rolls are literally the best I have ever had, and they have been consistently good for years now. I have been coming here for at least a decade, so don't know why it took me so long to write this! My husband and kids also love the grilled chicken or pork plates and even the broccoli beef, where the beef is always nice and tender. Oh yeah, and their fish sauce is so good! The imperial rolls came with the lettuce, cilantro and the pickled radish which I wish I got more of but was very good. The pho was flavored really well and the portion size is very fair. I'm a girl that loves an Asian hole in the wall like the best of them. But wow this place is the pits. And for the cost - it's really awful. Food is like a 3. Ordered Pho ga and some standard noodle bbq and noodle shrimp plates. The food was not so good to warrant $19.99 noodle plates, $16.95 small pho ga, $12.95 spring rolls. Service and facilities are terrible and really deserve 1 star. THIS IS NOT A FAMILY FRIENDLY ESTABLISHMENT. Their high chair looked like it had never been wiped with thick grease stains on it. Took about 10 water wipes to clean it to a half sticky acceptable level of sanitation. They also had a gaping hole in the ceiling right above our table wafting nostalgic smells of a rusty attic to complement our meal. Their bathroom is smaller than Harry Potter's closet room and had no tissue on the roll, no toilet seat covers in the dispenser, and the toilet seat was so loose I almost fell off of it mid void. To make matters worse, when I got up to finish, it was so tight in there I hit my head on the hand drying machine. Finally, as we were paying and asked for containers to take home our leftovers (I shouldn't have bothered but I hate wasting), we got an earful from the old lady at the front about why we had so many leftovers and needing so many containers (3). We always have leftovers since we have a kid who doesn't eat much. We had asked very clearly for the size and number of containers but she wasn't listening and thought the best response would be to yell at her customers. I go to many not so clean Asian establishments but I always go back because the food is good, service is decent, and I feel like they care even if their facilities aren't fully renovated or perfectly pleasing yet. This place felt like no one cared except for the overworked, gentle Latino server. He's the only reason we left a tip. NEVER COMING BACK. Items Combination Fried rice - the rice was perfectly cooked, the meat was so tasty and not overcooked. There is a generous portion of vegetable and meat. Shrimp rolls - the wrapper is fresh, but the shrimp is not. The sauce is too salty im expecting for a perfect balance between sweetness and saltyness of the fishsauce and pineapple juice. Rice eggroll and meat plate - the bbq is exceptional! It's a crossbreed of filipino bbq and chinese charsiu. The eggroll lacks of depth and it was overcooked. My only complain is the amount of rice is too much. 3 pieces of meat 2 pieces of small cut eggrolls and its all rice. Decent pho place on the Peninsula so we don't have to go all the way to East San Jose!! I like their oxtail pho. The oxtail tends to be a bit more heavy on the tendon but still delicious and they usually give a good amount of meat. Fast service, decent prices. We've done both take out and dine in, and the take out was packaged very well so that the food stayed hot and fresh. I will say the one negative is the location and lack of parking, but you can also venture into the neighborhood side streets if need be. read more
