Good portion sizes for what you get. This review pertains to a delivery order. Pros: Miso soup was delicious and crisp, pork tonkatsu was crispy, rice was perfectly cooked. The salmon side was pretty and I liked the layout. I also liked the veggies underneath the beef teriyaki slices. Cons: Fish was fishy tasting -- not a good after taste. Beef teriyaki slices were thinly cut not against grain, thus had a toughness to it. For the tonkatsu, there was not enough sauce. This lot was around $78, which was good for a quick lunch.

Omg where do I begin! Everytime I come to Hanamuru whether it's order out of eating out I just feel so taken care of! Great staff sweet souls that are offering fire food that not only fills your belly but your soul. Did not order this little dessert and we were gifted this and it's just a little depiction of what this beautiful staff does for their patrons. LIKE ALWAYS LEAVING HANAMURU WITH A HUGE SMILE IN MY FACE AND A BELLY FULL OF GOOD FOOD

We celebrated my son's 16th birthday. We enjoyed the Fresh sashimi and other wonderful entrees. The vibe is always friendly and welcoming, so it is a wonderful place for any occasion ranging from simple dine in to special occasions.

Fish didn't taste fresh so that was very disappointing. I ended up removing the fish eggs off my rolls too and eating the sashimi with the lemon slices to make it better. The restaurant was strangely very empty on a Sunday night and the place smelled very strongly of bleach, which was super displeasing. I was considering leaving just because of the smell. They did frequently check on our table and offered water refills which was sweet but also awkwardly disrupted conversation.

I ordered for take out but didn't pick up my order, so my review is primarily on the Lion King roll! It's a bit expensive here - about $16-17 for a Lion King. To be honest, I was a little underwhelmed with the quality of sushi here. The salmon had a strange slimey texture, and the entire roll was drenched in a sweet and spicy sauce which overpowered the entire roll. The "roll" part of the sushi was fairly standard but nothing extraordinary. The previous reviews concerning the foul smells in the restaurant are definitely worrisome too lol - I'd likely visit another sushi restaurant in the future!

This place is only doing pick up. I always place my order online, which I think that's the best way so you know exactly when to pick it up. I like it because I get an email that they received my order and the approximate time to pick up my food, so I know when to head out. I like to order the lemon roll, rainbow roll, saki nagiri, and sometimes try a random different roll. Also, this time I grabbed the baked mussels as an appetizer. The baked mussels had a lot of sauce which I liked. The fish is always fresh and they don't go cheap. Everything I've had so far is really yummy. I have no complaints. The workers are friendly and the food is worth it.

When you want some affordable with lots of options for you to choose from, come to Hanamaru. So many options and so many combo to choose from and they are all good. It comes in a huge quantity. The waiting time was quite short. I ordered a lot and it took no more than 30 minutes. It is located in a corner of the plaza so look closely. It's not a small place and it looks weird at first, not like a sushi place. But it is very good. Please come try and support this place.

This time, I used the online Yelp waitlist option and was able to get in much quicker. We were offered bar seats right away, but since we wanted a regular table, we waited just another five to six minutes, which was not bad at all. The ambiance is warm and welcoming, and every time someone enters, the servers warmly greet them. Since it was our first time, the server took the time to explain the menu, which made ordering a breeze. Plus, the presentation of the food deserves a solid five out of five! Here is what we ordered: Tonkotsu Udon Deluxe (Large, Medium Spicy): The portion size is huge, and a regular size should easily suffice since I could not even finish the large. The pork kakuni (braised pork belly) was incredibly soft, tender, and packed with flavor, and the broth was really good. This deluxe version comes with everything in the regular Tonkotsu Udon plus pork belly: a rich pork and fish broth, three pieces of premium chashu, shrimp tempura (which I asked for on the side), a seasoned boiled egg, garlic, green onions, boiled spinach, fish powder, and tempura bits. Beef Sukiyaki Nabeyaki Udon (Regular, Mild): This includes sweet and tender beef, a poached egg, maitake mushrooms, onions, green onions, fish cake, and tempura bits. We actually felt the broth on this one was even better than the Tonkotsu. The beef was flavorful and an absolute delight to eat. Vegetable Tempura (A La Carte): Comes with sweet potato, eggplant, pumpkin, corn, maitake mushrooms, and broccoli. The absolute standout was the pumpkin because it was so sweet and tender. It comes with a lower-sodium, light soy sauce that makes dipping the tempura effortless and light. Hot Ginger Orange Sake: A lovely drink made with dried ginger, dried orange, and rosemary. The aroma of orange and rosemary was very calming, and we thoroughly enjoyed it. Extras: They also provide a side of spice powder if you want to dial up the heat on your soup. Practical Details: Parking & Waitlist: Visiting on a Saturday means it gets very busy, and you will need to find parking before turning onto Castro Street. Joining the online waitlist ahead of time is definitely the way to go to make getting in smoother. Overall, it is a fantastic spot with wonderful service and incredible udon. We will gladly return!

The waiter initially tried to show me the menu and point out the dish, but it was clearly different from what I had ordered. He shortly realized there had been a mistake, and thankfully the correct dish came out about 5 minutes later. Unfortunately, the pasta itself was disappointing. The noodles were undercooked, and the sauce was quite bland. I was expecting the four-fish dashi and bacon flavor to stand out, but I didn't really get much of either. The sesame seeds were also very overpowering and seemed to take over the dish. Overall, the sauce tasted more like a basic, thin cream sauce that didn't coat the noodles very well. The bacon and mushrooms also didn't add much flavor or stand out as much as I expected. My friend ordered the Chicken Katsu Curry. The katsu itself looked crispy and appetizing, but the curry came out lukewarm. My friend was okay with the temperature, but when I tried it, I was honestly surprised by how close to room temperature it was. I would have expected the curry to at least be served hot or noticeably warm. Overall, the presentation of the food was nice, but unfortunately the flavors and temperature of the dishes didn't meet our expectations. Between the initial order mix-up, undercooked pasta, bland sauce, and lukewarm curry, it just wasn't a particularly memorable meal. There are definitely some things that could be improved.

The restaurant was pretty full so not sure how long it would take if we waited. The restaurant is inside a plaza with some other stores and restaurants but there was plenty of space even in the evening. They have a happy hour menu from 7 to 10 pm on Saturdays, but they differ depending on the day. They have some appetizers and drinks on the happy hour menu, so we tried the gyoza, mochi and side tempura. The mochi had a house made sauce glaze that was sweet and salty, and came with nori as a wrap. The texture of the mochi was really soft and chewy. The gyoza were really crispy with a soft interior. We ended up ordering a second round of them. The tempura was nicely fried with not too much batter. The shrimp was really succulent and I liked that they have mushroom tempura too. From their regular menu, we ordered a bunch of food. I tried the yaki-onigiri ochazuke with salmon, fried chicken skin, the eggplant and various skewers. The fried chicken skin was really nice and crispy, and came with a ponzu sauce and mayo to dip in. The yaki onigiri was nicely grilled and still had crispy bits when submerged in the soup. I was really excited that they have shishamo/smelt. It was nicely roasted and didn't have any overtly fishy flavor. Everyone at my table really enjoyed their food. I'd definitely come back here to try their other dishes!
