There was a glitch error where items were overcharged. They checked and confirmed there was an error. They said be abuse it was a third party, they could not do the refund. Without asking, they offered the same items overcharged plus extra appetizers for the next delivery order. All I would need is to call and provide my name and they would add it to the delivery. I wanted sushi one night (it was during thanksgiving weekend) so P took me out for some sushi, we were going to this other place that was about to close within 20 min so we decided to hit Hon sushi up. I think I actually might have found this place on Yelp so thanks guys. First of all, because we walked in at like 9:10, it was actually happy hour, which meant everything on the menu was 20% off. Which is pretty sweet. EVERYTHING we ordered was on point. P got like this tuna cheese aburi torched sushi which he said was rly rly good, it was a substantial slice of tuna. I got yam sushi which was super delish and creative, they put a bunch of yam fries on top. Then we got Korean food - I got korean rice cakes in hot sauce - a lil too sweet and very spicy but I still rly liked it. P got kimchi fried rice which was BOMB. BOMB!! Environment good, service good, but food...not so good. $28.95 for a Budae (9 inches) hotpot, and it contained only low-cost ingredients - one sausage all sliced, two pieces of luncheon meat, four pieces of tofu, a few slices of pork, a few pieces of kimchi, and the rest were bean sprouts and instant noodles which were the majority. This place has such bad korean food..the army stew was not even spicy and the japchae was wayy too sweet... at least the sushi rolls tasted alright and the service was fast (the place was really empty though). Not the best I've ever had but decent. Unfortunately we went on a day that was very hot out and their AC happen to be broken so it was a little uncomfortable. Service was very slow for a place that had no one else in there while we dined. Had to get up multiple times to place any request for orders as the server did not take initiative to come take orders or check up on us. Hon Sushi serves both Korean and Japanese food. I went their specifically to try the Korean fried chicken and decided to just stick with all Korean food. The restaurant is quite spacious. I came on a Sunday for lunch and we got seated immediately. Service was very friendly and quick. They even have a buzzer for you to call them. We wanted to try both the original and sweet & spicy chicken so I ordered a small for both. We also ordered the Beef burgogi hotpot. The original chicken was delicious. I liked that it wasn't overly salty and oily. They also give you spicy mayo to dip. The spicy chicken was also very good. It wasn't overly spicy but was spicy enough and also just sweet enough. I like that the flavor wasn't overwhelming. The hotpot was shared between 2 people and it was more than enough. Having the cheese on the side was yummy. I even added it on to the fried chicken. The beef had a nice flavor and you get a good amount of it if shared for 2. Im pretty sure the one dish is big enough for four people. The only down side is that you pay person rather than a set price for the dish. Our meal included Korean banchan (side dishes). I'm not sure if this is included even if you just order Japanese food or appetizers. They weren't anything special and was a little disappointed that it didn't include rice and had to order them separately. Overall I like Hon Sushi. I'll come back to try their Japanese menu and other Korean dishes. Also note that they have a lot in the back but it's pay parking and it's pay parking on the streets. Not a bad spot at all. They have a wide variety of Japanese and Korean dishes. I had their salmon sashimi salad there and it sounds nice and looks nice but it is served with a vinegary dressing which was too acidic, but if you substitute it with a creamy dressing it would be outstanding. This place has a nice quiet ambience and the waiters and cooks are friendly. Not bad for a spot to get a quick bite. read more

This is the place that took over Fish on Rice which was an awesome All you can eat place. Thats already minus one star. The service was efficient but missing friendliness. They have button pads at each table so you can call a waitress over without having to get up and flag someone down. See photo below. As for the food...I can only speak for the Chicken Katsu box that I tried today. Kudos for doing the miso soup right! As for the rest of the meal...the chicken was mixed dark and white meat...almost like it was just stuck together to create the filet of chicken. The salad...don't even know what they were trying to do with it....spring greens with iceberg lettuce and a watery soysauce based dressing...so odd. As for the sides... sweet potato chunks soaked in soysauce and cubes of daikon..never seen that anywhere before. If you're new to japanese food its actually pretty tasty but as a Japanese person thats had authentic japanese its doesn't cut it. I've had foodcourt japanese thats more authentic. The biggest reason that I'm only giving 2 stars is a huge security issue. I was handed a credit card machine to type in the tip and my pin to pay for my bill. I was surprised when the waitress left me with the machine and didn't come back. Another waitress who just happened to be passing by asked me if I wanted my receipt. I got it printed it out so I have record of the exact time I used the machine in case it was compromised before I used it. The machine was left unattended by staff long enough I could have just walked away and someone could have swipped it easily. One star for the food being edible and another for the neat call button pad/service efficiency. It really sucks that this place took over my favourite girls night out place...guess we will be finding a new place from now on. read more

Came back here for a friend's birthday dinner. I ordered the Dynamite roll, Alaska roll, BC roll, and the Caterpillar roll. The Dynamite roll had crispy prawns but I'm not too sure why one was sticking out one way and the other sticking out the other. The Alaska roll lacked substance from the regular one you'd find but it was quite nice. The BC roll was kinda flat as in the salmon was kinda mushy instead of crispy. Finally the caterpillar roll was quite nice and had quite a bit of avocado to it, but I don't quite agree with the price of $14.95. read more

I came here with a group of my friends for dinner on a Monday evening after our initial decision for dinner turned out to be closed on Mondays. I ordered the Popcorn Roll, toro nigiri, and chopped scallop nigiri, and shared the korean style spicy chicken BBQ Pot and Padak deep fried chicken with my mates. The food was decent and reasonably tasty. The Korean style dishes were delicious. The Spicy Chicken BBQ Pot came with shredded cheese and corn with perhaps mayonnaise sauce on it on the rims and chicken and rice cake in the sweet and spicy sauce cooking in the middle along with onions. It should be noted that the chicken is raw at first and requires a few minutes wait before it is ready to be eaten. As well, for a few dolllars you can add japchae or fried kimchi on the hot plate. The Padak deep fried chicken was basically deep fried chicken with a lot of green onion on top. It also came with a dish of sweet soy sauce (at least that is what I think it is). As for the Japanese cuisine, it was very lacking. The toro nigiri was a smaller piece than other places, although at a $2 a piece it is okay. The chopped scallop roll was a little different than other places as I thought the scallop was very finely minced rather than having a couple of small chunks of scallop. The Popcorn Roll was not very spectacular as when I observed it further, it was really just a Dynamite Roll with a few pieces of deep fried baby scallop on top, and drizzled with sauce. With the Popcorn roll at 13.95 and Dynamite roll at 5.95, I don't know if it was worth it at all. However I didn't order the Dynamite roll so this is assuming that the Dynamite roll here is typically the prawn tempura with imitation crab, cucumber, and avocado. Service was a little slow despite having the buzzer on the table. In fact, I'm pretty sure the buzzer did nothing at all as the servers were not at the computer where the alert is shown. The location is sizeable and very suitable for bigger groups as well. All in all, I would come back to this place to eat again, but I would not delve into the Japanese food. I suggest newcomers to try the Korean style food as it was very good here. read more

I love this place! A place where I can get great korean fried chicken without going to coquitlam or Richmond. Their cheese rabokki is to die for and I highly recommend their oshii rolls as well. Oh They also have very good customer service! I ordered for pick up and they accidentally gave me tobokki instead of rabokki. As I got home, I received a call from them and told me about the accidental mix up. I was ok with it but they insisted that next time I come that they'll give me a free rabokki for the mistake. I told them that I won't be able to come for a week and they were ok with it. Tried this restuarant with my girlfriend. Our main dishes were korean ribs, fried chicken and beer. This is the first time in my life I witnessed blood leaking from the fried chicken! When we told the server, they apologized and recooked the chicken instead of making a new one. Now the chicken was hard, burnt, and not edible. (Yes this is a first world problem/complaint). They refunded $5 off the $60 bill, which was a nice geature, but not nearly enough. The service was ok but the food was not. And seriously $60 for mediocre food? The interior decor was largely the same as the previous restuarant, which many will remember and likely try to forget as Rice on Fish all you can eat sushi. It says BBQ beef combo for two, served with tofu hot pot, salad, california roll, rice and 5 side dishes, all for $28.95. Sounds like a feast, but when it came, we found that the portion size was more suitable for one person. The sides were so small that you could finish off one dish in two mouthfuls. Also, only four side dishes came, and when we asked the waitress, she said the salad (four lettuce leaves plus some dipping sauce) doubles as a side dish. This did not seem right because the salad was clearly listed separately. But none of this would have mattered much if the food tasted good. The BBQ beef was not even BBQ, was was stir-fried and put on a hot plate; the california roll tasted fishy, and the tofu hotpot way too spicy. This was my first time to Hon Sushi, and likely my last.
