A l s o we got free miso soup which was nice and unexpected :-) My husband and I love coming here and grabbing a sushi roll or two and a friend rice- it's filling and quick if you call ahead! Their salmon used in their butterfly kiss is chefs kiss. It's the perfect soft thick piece of salmon you would expect for a almost $20 roll. This spot is close to my parents so we will absolutely be coming back.

We got the Chef's special with 9 pieces of chef's choosing, spicy tuna roll, & we also got the Wakiki roll & Devil's roll (not sure of name, but rice-free roll) OMG---- so fresh, so quick, & with the purple haze sake?!? Perfect...

We got the Honda roll, Poke bowl and the salmon tower. Everything was delicious! One of the best spots in Carrollton for a great atmosphere with amazing Japanese food.

We loved all the sushi rolls we got, especially the sexy roll! It was not very busy for a Saturday noon, and so the service was on point. They provided us with plenty of recommendations which was helpful since it was our first time. I thought that the fish was fresh and the rolls were reasonably priced. Will be coming back.

Came here for the lunch specials only to learn that prices have increased. $20 for two specialty rolls which includes a miso soup. Husband got the spicy Korean ramen with shrimp. The rolls and ramen portions are huge. One person could easily share a roll & bowl of ramen. The sushi flavors were lacking a little bit but the salmon on top of the Alaskan roll was large and fresh.

Wow... this quaint and friendly sushi spot has the others beat. I came in for a late lunch, ordered the Poke Bowel cause it's a good blend of food to sample. It was great, fresh fish perfect rice and just enough sauce to blend it all very nicely. Green tea and perfect miso soup filled out the meal. So the staff... reminded me of a pensione in Italy. Seemed more like family (the ones you like) and friends than workers. Actually they all sat and had lunch together next to me while I finished my meal. Business is closed between 2:30 and 5 to give the staff time together I assume. Completely reminded me of the original Macaroni Grill (Leon Springs) when Phil used to run it. Get in here and enjoy the whole environment.

Thanks to the yelp reviews, we decided to try this place... it did not disappoint. We had a good experience. Food was good and service was also good. We ordered the Love Boat combo. Enough to be shared by two people. The combi also came with miso soup. It came with 5 kinds of sashimi, 2 of each kind. It was fresh ,as it should be, and the slices where thicker than most. We also love the Hon roll and the Rainbow rolls. The sushi rice was good. Place was nice and cozy. Food was reasonably priced. We will definitely be back.

Hon sushi is a gem hidden in plain sight! We took my parents earlier today because we were hungry (duh) and wanted a spot closeby. If you look at the shopping center, this one is a huge standout. Next to Him sushi are random places: Little Caesars, Wingstop, just random . This is why I say a hidden gem in plain sight. Surprisingly, for a Friday night it was pretty empty which is shocking because you should not sleep on this place. We had monkey brains and chicken karagge for an appetizer. My parents were obsessed with the monkey brains. They are planning on coming back for that alone haha. The chicken karagge was ok. I think the sauce was lacking from other places we've tried this at. We're so glad we found this restaurant! We got seated right away. The menus had pictures for every roll and they said what was in the roll as well as what was on top instead of just telling you the general ingredients. They also had color identifiers for spice and fried. I haven't seen a menu this clearly layer out and was very impressed. After we ordered, they brought us miso soup and it was probably the best I'd ever had. Then they brought out our four rolls on a boat. It was hard to pick a favorite. I think the Viking ended up being our favorite after the rock star. The customer service was even good. The employees were kind and seemed like they wanted to be there. Overall a wonderful experience and we'll be back!

Hon's has been my lunchtime sushi destination for years. I come for one thing- the nuclear roll. It is the spiciest tuna roll in the area. This last visit, I tried the ahi tower. Excellent choice with healthy portions of spicy tuna and crabmeat. I've never dined inside, only carry out. Lunchtime specials are great and never a long wait.

I finally got an opportunity to drop by and try a few items I thought they We're very tasty and surprisingly had a lot of flavor. As I find most places in Texas that serve sushi and Asian cuisine to be quite bland. We ordered the Baked Salmon roll, was ok. Yakisoba Noodles, had flavor and the Egg Rolls were piping hot and also full of flavor.

This is our new go to sushi place. The sushi chef is amazing. He came over to our table to asked about our food & even carved out some fruit into a boat for our daughter. This is my lunch also my family after hour favorite Sushi and Korean BBQ restaurant ever! It is a different experience thanks to their employees and the Sushi Bar Chef Charlie. He gives the extra mile to please his customers, no questions asked!!! I stop by twice a week or more. Awesome fried chicken and beef rice, huge sushi rolls, misso soup on the house and more! Most of the time, Charlie ends your meal with a wonderful fruit crafted desert that you can see on almost every pic here in Yelp. You need to stop by at any time of the day just to say hi to Charlie and see him doing his magic! read more

Fresh fish, interesting food presentation and a restaurant with owners that care if you have a wonderful experience - what more can you ask for??! After moving here from California my husband and I struggled to find a quality sushi restaurant and believe me, we went everywhere. I didn't expect much walking in because of the location of the restaurant. This place has been several restaurants in the past year so I didn't expect much, but I was quite surprised once I got to taste the sushi. It was quite good. I had the Dragon Roll and the Baked Crawfish Roll. I really enjoyed the Baked Crawfish, and the Dragon had a good taste to it as well. The display it came in was pretty cool too, it made it look fancy. The only thing that disappointed me was the chicken fried rice. It was okay, nothing special. The service was good, and the prices were about average sushi prices. No happy hour prices though since it's a fairly new place. The sushi here is worth it, and now I have a new place to eat sushi that's close to home. read more

A great place to eat sushi with a bunch of friends! The environment was quite nice and they started us off with miso soup. Also, if you have any friends who are not sushi frliendly, it safe to eat here because they have a variety of dishes such as Korean BBQ. We were impressed by the amount of sushi and the time it took to create this master piece. My favorite roll was one of their special rolls with yellow tail, flavored with jalapeño and lime juice. The table loved the rainbow roll. Overall it was a great food for an even better price. read more

This is my kind of restaurant!! Greeted when you walk in the door (chefs say Hello from the back of the restaurant) to outstanding servers. Great recommendations on sushi from our server (wish I could remember his name... but blond with hair pulled back... and said he's been there so often, they had to hire him.) His suggestions were spot-on and the presentation was outstanding. Almost too pretty to eat...but NO, because the sushi was the best I've had. The tuna melted in my mouth. The only thing nice is the presentation but honestly the fish is not fresh! I feel that they try to dupe you with fancy plating and decorations, yet whenever I try any of the dishes with raw fish, they are not fresh. I can smell the oldness in every single plate we ordered. read more

Have you heard the saying "Never judge a book by it's cover." ? This culturally eclectic atmosphere may initially throw you if you are used to the posh upscale setting. It may be quaint, but the food is bold! We ordered the Rainbow Deluxe, Baja California, and the Rockstar roll. We had a California Roll, beef teriyaki bowl and tempura bowl. We had asked for plain rice to be switched with fried rice which they did making it seem to us it was a courtesy switch without telling us how much it would cost. But when the bill came there was twice extra charge! The food was tasteless. Beef was extra sweet. The tempura bowl had literally 1 shrimp with 3 other fried veggies. Fried rice was also tasteless. Usually sushi places are a hit or miss for me, but I will definitely be coming back to Hon. The presentation is beautiful and the sushi is as good as it looks! Fantastic place. Came from Austin to see some friends and decided to get some sushi. This was the highest rated place and seemed to have decent prices. Must say, this reminds me of our favorite sushi bar at home. Great ambience, service, amazing food! The owners there are fantastic and kind. Very personal. I loved every roll I sampled...the Playboy, Rockstar, Calamari Tempura, and California. The Rockstar packed a punch (heat) that left me craving for more. Wanted Calamari "rings" not the roll, but went with it...in the end the mistake was not ordering the tempura roll to begin with...it was good. I would order it all again...and if this place was in my neighborhood, I'd be sushi wasted tomorrow. Chef Charlie...and Joanne...high freaking five. read more

This price here is really good. I live in Austin and keep thinking Dallas is a lot more expensive, but this restaurant is cheaper than most Japanese restaurant I've been to in Austin. A lot of dishes are pretty and creative. read more

Truly excellent sushi. The quality of the fish is superb and the and the preparation is just great. I don't live in Dallas so I can only eat here twice... yesterday and today!! Everything was absolutely fresh and so delicious. Their attention to detail was immaculate and every bite was superb. They did not have either Uni or Toro in supply, but happy they did not have something of bad quality. The bluefin was so amazing. Will definitely be back here. The service was rather slow, there was an elderly woman that was handling the hosting/waiting duties. We waited over 10 minutes after being seated before receiving menus or being asked about drink preferences and the restaurant was virtually empty. Just a speed bump though, we still enjoyed the experience. read more

One of the best sushi spots in the Dallas area! This is definitely an unexpected gem tucked away in Carrollton. I've dined twice now and each time we were seated quickly. The menu had a good selection and the items ordered were really tasty and fresh. The staff was very attentive and I liked the atmosphere each time - not crowded so you don't have to tell you have a conversation. One of the best sushi places in North Dallas for sure. Not as trendy as Sushi Robata or Fuyiyama but the food can definitely rival those more established joints. The texture of the rice is just right and it is very well seasoned. I did not need to dip any of my nigiri or roll pieces in soy sauce. Not even the California roll pieces from my sushi combo. There is a weird smell when you walk in here but we gave it a chance. The meal came with a miso soup. We ordered the Playboy roll, Rainbow Roll and a couple of others. They were ok. The soy sauce is a house made sauce, very tasty. Customer service was excellent. read more

Is there a break in schedule? I have called several times today (Saturday) between the hour of 1-2pm and never got a response. There is nothing that states they're closed or not available anywhere online

We got there right when they opened, grabbed seats at the bar, and immediately loved the vibe. One of the first things I noticed was there were at least six sushi chefs behind the counter. If you've ever been to an AYCE sushi restaurant, you know why that's a big deal. More sushi chefs usually means you're not sitting around forever waiting for your next round, and that was definitely the case here. From the moment we walked in, Andrew made us feel welcome. I think he may have been the floor manager, but whatever his role was, his hospitality was outstanding. Even with a graduation party going on and the restaurant being incredibly busy, he checked on us throughout the meal and made us feel like we were the only table there. Then he surprised us with something really special. He brought over four pieces of premium bluefin tuna with fresh real wasabi and took the time to explain where the tuna came from and what made it unique. That kind of personal touch takes an already great experience and makes it memorable. Now for the food. The fish to rice ratio was exactly what you want. The quality of the fish was outstanding and everything tasted incredibly fresh. One of my favorite bites of the night was the Hotate scallop nigiri. You almost never see that at an AYCE sushi place, and it was fantastic. The salmon was phenomenal too. Honestly, everything we ordered was excellent. Our favorite appetizer had to be the mussels. We ended up ordering them more than once because they were that good. Considering how packed the restaurant was, I was seriously impressed with how quickly everything came out. The service never skipped a beat. Andrew mentioned they recently changed owners earlier this year. I never had the chance to visit under the previous ownership, but if this is what the new ownership is doing, they are absolutely knocking it out of the park. If you're looking for great all you can eat sushi, put Sushi Kushi on your list. The food, service, and atmosphere were all top tier. Andrew, thank you for making our first visit so memorable. This has to be some kind of sick joke. I had to triple check just to make sure this is the right Hon Sushi in the magazines. Nothing I got looks like anything from the yelp pictures. I don't know what kind of crack they're smoking over at the Dallas Observer but this place is not a gem. Lol. The tuna is cherry red koolaid. Like, artificially red dye mixed with dog chow. When I saw the spicy tuna roll, my stomach churned. I was like, "alright, I just close my eyes and abandon all sense of taste and smell". Every roll has tuna. And if it doesn't-- some kind of subpar fish grilled in it's place. Luckily for me, I got teriyaki chicken and praise the lord there was hope for me. No spicy dog chow tuna. The salad was great. Fried tempura? Great. Edamame? Great. California roll? Meh. I ate everything but the chicken. It was too soft and although it looks tasty, the texture just wasn't for me. The staff was friendly. Oh this is what I have been looking for! A beautiful atmosphere family restaurant, with friendly and welcoming sushi chefs, and waitresses....best part AMAZING sushi and sashimi with creative art. This is the best sushi and sashimi I've had since I left Los Angeles (and of course sushi and sashimi is good there...it's extremely fresh). I feel like I'm at home! Hon Sushi is one of the best sushi restaurants in Dallas. We go every week and we love the food every time. If you are looking for an appetizer, the vegetable tempura is delicious (we ate it before I could snap a photo ha ha). The miso soup is a great starter as you wait for the sushi, ramen, bento box, etc. Great variety and amazing service! Our orders are always ready quickly and served at the perfect temperature. My wife and I came to Hon Sushi for dinner and it exceeded our expectations! My wife isn't the biggest sushi fan so she had the chicken teriyaki which she loved. I ordered an assortment of their different rolls and the presentation was fascinating! Great new place! A couple of things stood out to me about my dining experience at Hon Sushi. The creativeness detail and presentation of each dish was outstanding and the overall freshness due to the high-quality fish. Delicious! Their miso soup was to die for! Used to love their sushi. But I've been disappointed every time for thast couple of months. The food does not same anymore. The rolls aren't proportionate and consistent in size. Is always meat or rice or somethimg oozing out. Last time i ordered a spicy tuna roll and the fish seemed like it wasn't cleaned properly.
